Are foxes and jackals closer to canines or felines?
>>
>>2489256
canines
>>

Why?

I live in a city in Lapland and am quite sure I saw a Brown patchy fox last week. Any Idea what it might have been?

>I live in a city in Lapland
You have cities there?
>>
Ok, maybe its the only city in Lapland and by other measures still a village.

I thought it might be a polar fox but it was in too urban an area to my Idea.
>>
>>2489256
Jackals are canines. Foxes are canids, but they are vulpines. Neither are closely related to felids.

Look at the hindleg of the fox, it's just scratching itself.

Also, the skunk and the fox were photographed separately, and compositioned together.

>humanity STILL hasn't fully domesticated foxes
What the fuck have we been doing?
>>
I live in a sub-urban area and drove a bicycle about 2 meters from a fox that was on the side of road, rummaging through some piece of trash. I stopped and kept staring at it, the fox just ignored me. Is this normal for foxes? I thought they'd escape as soon as human came within 10 meters.

Incidentally this was also in finlan.

Remembering what we've done to dogs, probably.

>>
>>2498841
also, they might be domesticated in a way but it's still not enough generations and they're still semi-wild.
>>
>>2489228
Is it normal that I found that so cute that I actually started crying
>>
>>2498841
Well, if you learn from birth that humans are just a part of your life that won't hurt you, it makes sense to enjoy pets from them.
>>
>>2496144
You can very easily tell by the leaves. Grapes have these very big and wide leaves with a jagged edge. Quite distinctive.
>>
>>2499050
I don't spend enough time around plums or grapes to notice this sort of thing.

Was it datapacrat? Thanks to the anon who mentioned that it was a plum I went "???" and eventually noticed the filename, then I saw it was in caps and thought "wow, that looks really old" and then "wait, what happens if I google it"

So. Google "eatgrape.jpg" including quotes, enjoy
>>

What on earth is that thing

It looks like someone put a red fox, a fennec and a jack russel in a blender
>>
>>2498287

Things take time. We have domesticated them to some degree to the degree they won't go all feral on you but we still have a ways to go.

More foxxo pics pls
>>
>>2500829
Yeah that seems to be it. I had seen the image before on here but didn't save it, so I googled it as "Fox eating grapes" until I found it, then saw the filename as EATGRAPE.jpg so saved it.

Maybe I was just so wrong for mistaking plums for grapes and I hope the good people of this board can one day forgive me.

Depends on the fox and the way it gets treated by humans and other animals in your area. Sometimes urban and suburban foxes get very bold about being near humans when they've never had one scare them. In places where people toss food at them they can even turn into little beggars. Barring previous close interactions with humans, they do tend to sit and watch you from a distance out of curiosity (or wariness), then bolt if you get too close. I'd bet your fox has been a trash-picker for a while and nobody ever chased it off.

No, it's not. A wholesomely beautiful image should bring a smile to one's face, but tearing up demonstrates a lack in one's own life somewhere.
>>
>>2503351
Seeing a brief moment of joy between two creatures that have a life expectancy of 3-4 years should elicit tears. That easily could have been the first and the last time they got to play like that.

Foxes are basically catdogs, combining traits from two most popular pet species.
