so now that the dust has settled, who would win?
>>
>>2563122

T-Rex. Even if Spino looked like that, which it didn't, it would have been over with the neck bite.
>>
>>2563122
rex spino is a noddle boy now
>>
>>2563122
Easily Rex. Spinofags BTFO
>>
Rex. On a semi related note, when the fuck are giganotosaurus or carcharodontosaurus going to get their time to shine? The only thing more satisfying than watching rexfags whine about the spino battle would be watching them whine about Trex getting BTFO by a dinosaur that they can't make an actual argument against.
>>
>>2563162

No one cares about your comic book dinos, but if you insist.

>giganotosaurus

Weak jaws and top-heavy. Would pay for missing leg day.

>carcharodontosaurus

Same as above, plus smaller and a nigger.
>>
>>2563122
The correct answer is: while the Tyrannosaur is better-adapted to killing large terrestrial prey, with the Spinosaur better adapted at catching aquatic prey, neither would risk a confrontation with a healthy, similarly-sized example of the other unless forced to. If such a confrontation were to occur, it's quite likely both could end up fatally wounded.
>>
>>2563162
>that they can't make an actual argument against.
T rex's bite was immensely more powerful than any other creature on earth. Gigantasaurus's extra 2-5 feet of length isn't going to help against a set of jaws strong enough to pancake a minivan
>>
>>2563241
>immensely more powerful than any terrestrial animal ever
FTFY, the giant sharks of the past still outclass Rex in bite force, but it's still really impressive

But yeah, any bite is going to obliterable any flesh, organ or bone that it makes contact with
>>
>>2563162
>its slightly bigger so it will beat a dinosaur that could make the bones of large armored herbivores literally explode with one bite

god that neck snap was stupid
how in the everloving fuck is anything going to snap a neck with the bone and muscles to support the T-rex's maw
Sure T-rex can lose but at least do it in a believable fashion, like pic related.

On a side note, damn this CGI has not aged well.

Not a fair fight. It’s like asking who would win if a lion fought a shark. The outcome is based on environment.
>>
>>2563351
no, it's like asking if a shark that could walk on land could beat a lion
>>
>>2563362
It’s still not the same. Spinosaurus’ anatomy was simply more suited to aquatic life, much like a crocodile, and so fighting a T. rex on land give it a natural disadvantage. >>2563362

At parity rex outclasses giga in fighting prowess. Fucker's built like a pitbull. The question is though, is how much larger giga can get than rex. Take pic related, Rex wins at parity, but I would bet money on the larger silhouette of giga. Too big, too powerful.
Its also worth noting that Sue is ther largest, most robust rex we have out of the 40 or so specimens of T. rex. Meanwhile, we only have 2 specimens of giga, so the taphonomic bias is certainly in Rex's favor. Effectively we're taking the largest known rex of 40 specimens and comparing it to an average giga.
>>
>>2563458
the silhouette one is still lighter than sue though
>>
>>2563238
Except every Rex fossil has evidence of harsh fights with other like-sized dinosaurs, that was definitely their way of life like hippos or elephant seals or something. They were violent fucks. (Wolverines, Idk)
>>
Rex > all. Cry more hipsters.
>>
>>2563122
I can’t believe they would do T-Rex dirty like that. Were they even thinking about their brand or just being edgy?
>>
It depends on the situation.
In water it would clearly be spinosaurus but on land t-rex can just look over him and bite him to death whereever he pleases so..
>>
>>2563122
More importantly, would they be able to produce a sterile hybrid were they to reproduce?
>>
>>2564110
It was during the phase where everyone was freaking out about spinosaurus being technically bigger then t.rex so they had to have a "hurr look even bigger scarier monstur" moment. Then we found a bunch of bigger shit and someone pointed out that spinosaurus physically didn't pack nearly as much punch.

If they met, spinosaurus would probably have wanted to avoid t.rex. T.rex was much more compact and muscular, it was build for bringing down large animals and relied on having a massive gite force, whereas spinosaurus primarily was suited catching large fish such as sharks and rays. That said, they could both probably do each other a fair amount of harm, and they would likely have given each other a wide birth. Large predators only usually risk attacking one another when they're both in direct competition for food, and when they feel they have the advantage, such as with groups of lions attacking solitary leopards and cheetahs.
>>
>>2564271
Probably not. That would be like trying to breed a heron with an eagle.

>>
>>2563458
there is a toe bone belonging to a T.rex that was atleast 10% larger than Sue, Sue is just the largest complete rex we have theres a few bits and pieces of other rexes that show they grew slightly larger
>>
>>2564891
And I'm sure there were gigas larger than the 2 we currently have
>>
>>2564892
both of you are correct.

there's no particular reason to think we've found the largest examples of either one. Or even that the largest ones ever fossilized.

they appear to be much like modern snakes and crocodiles, where the extremely large specimens are also extremely rare. What we find is likely an average of populations, not an average of sizes.

If you think Spinofags are bad than I have some news for you. I have found a much worse group of people.

Herbivorefags. I am not talking like "oh I like herbivores more" people. I am talking about "herbivores are invincible" kind of people. On a forum I went on about dinosaurs there were a bunch of people who thought a tyrannosaurus could not conceivably kill edmontosaurus or triceratops.

This extended to other things like "velociraptor only hunted small mammals" and will handwave one of he most famous fossil specimens ever (the protoceratops and velociraptor fighting, you know, the one where it's toe claw is buried deep within the protoceratops' throat) by saying the protoceratops was the aggressor.

Think you're confused on the intention of my green text anon, it obviously didn't bleed out if it had time to heal, but you're right in that it almost certainly effected its ability to balance and likely was a cause to it's eventual death, much like when modern Predators develop injuries that hinder their ability hunt
