as far as celebrities go he's actually not that bad. Jaden Smith is one of the worst I've seen by far.

it's cool that he's skating and very supportive of the scene. he's also filming a video part and is actually really into it.

He still hadn't gotten it when I left. Saw the make as a guest trick in someones part. Forgot who.

Thought it was pretty weak desu. I laughed when I saw the make in the middle of a really good pro part (i think cyril jackson). Just watched the Bam Margera Epicly Later'd. Took me back to when I was a kid and loved the whole skateboarding scene of the mid-2000's. I tried to skate as a kid but didn't put much effort into it. That's why I'm in this thread, I'd like to get back into it as a hobby. Plus it should help me lose weight since I'm fat and trying to get /fit/. Thinking of buying an Enjoi board, any recommendations?

currently watching the Bam epicly later'd. I could tell that Ape was fucking hot now I it is confirmed. But no words on Evol? It didn't expand much on his skateboarding. And it jumps straight from Jackass to vivalabam, talking only like 3 minutes about Jackass.
>>
>>3149387
Go to your local shop and they should point you in the right direction. I've never ridden am Enjoi board so I can't really comment on that.
>>
>>3149561
I don't have a local shop. I live a really rural area.
>>
>>3149562
If you really have to order online you should make sure you know exactly what you need and want. There's tutorials on how to put together boards if this is your first time doing it yourself. Honestly if this is your first actual board I'd suggest just getting the basic stuff like Independent trucks, Bones Reds bearings and Spitfire wheels. If the roads are real rough near you and there's no parks make sure you get softer wheels. Pretty much just get any board you want. Make sure the trucks are the right size.

Hey fellas, need some advice here. I've only been skating for around a 6 months and can only ollie and fs 180. And the most stairs ive ever ollied is 4. Lately I've been getting bored with skateboarding because I just get really frustrated trying new tricks (pop-shuv and heel flips mostly). To where it just feels like a waste of time. Also today went to the park and there were a bunch of kids my age just straight shredding everything and I looked like a fucking idiot ollieing over a cement stopper, what should i do?
>>
>>3152151
well, the only thing you really can do is just practice lol, everyone goes through these rough patches and the only thing i can really say is to watch your favorite skaters and favorite videos to keep you motivated. Who /freestyle/ here? I'm trying to git gud at Caspers and don't know any interesting ways to get in and out of them. I probably just need more practice and use my magination but I got a bad head cold right now.

me too man, they come and go for me

try putting your front foot a little further back on the board so your toes aren't hanging off as much, and try the opposite as well

the key to getting flip tricks on lock is having a system in place that helps you remember exactly where to put your feet and understand how the board moves differently depending on where your feet are
>>
>>3164669
Literally who?
>>
i've done a bunch of axle stalls and 50-50s but still can't get the hang of it. i'm not scared to go for it but the feeling is still alien. same thing with rock to fakies. i'll sometimes tap the wheels on the deck but i can't seem to pull back into the transition just right. the front wheels always touch on the way back in. it feels like i'll never progress as these are the basics. transition skating always looked so easy but oh boy is it the most difficult form of skating that exists. i think if i get the hang of it that it'll help me in street with board control and going fast. maybe my style will improve
>>
>>3164418
when you flip the board, shift your weight towards your back leg. Don't forget to do it, it's two motions, not just the half-flip. People usually forget to do one of two basic maneuvres when it comes to such tricks and can't figure out why it doesn't happen. Like backside 180s for instance, people think they know what they should do but neglect doing it.

could it be the concave? When I first started getting heelflips, one time I switched to a deck with steep concave and it felt like a snowboard, the damn thing wouldn't leave my feet. I had to put too much effort for a heelflip, a trick that I had just started to get down no less.
>>
>>3168525
Could be actually, I usually skate quite a steep concave but my new deck is more mellow. I'll get used to it though, my heelflips were never amazing anyway just a little more consistent.
>>

>Also, someone clarify the difference between Miller flips and Philips 66
Dude, do you know anything about either trick?

On a miller flip you roll up regular, grab fs, plant your front hand and rotate 360.

On a phillips 66 you roll up fakie and grab mute, plant your back hand and rotate 360. Pretty much a switch eggplant revert. Nothing like a millerflp

I don't know if this is better or worse than skateboarding in an effort to cure and/or claw back on a decade-old burnout (but having decent money). Least you're only working for cash, and not spending all of it on junkie-tier drugs

This guy here. Finally got my board put together and tried skating around some outside my work today. The concrete was really rough and the board was jerky when rolling so I kept falling. Feels good though, I'm pretty fucking tired from it.

that's a good reply and I feel you. Burnout is a good term, glad you used it. You also didn't give ready made, fixed solutions, you simply stated you don't know.

It definitely has helped mine. Just yesterday I came the closest I have ever come to landing a backside heelflip. The board rotated 3/4 (meaning I would 've landed on the rail) but I have never made it past the half-flip.

I used to confuse him with Elijah Burle, but I like both of them. Good attitudes, rad skating.

What did everyone think of the (917) video? I wish there was more footage of Mango than just one trick. More people need to learn about Mango.
I liked that they gave the feeling of a real crew, not just a skateboard team. Accessible spots and ripping skateboarding.
>>
>>3177135
same anon here, the ender was fucked. Up. I was mind blown and then I realised it was the final trick in the video. None of those hyped up big-money-sponsors videos would even dare to end their video on a spot so small. But it was golden. Like, quintessence of skateboarding. It was poetry. A small spot for such a rad ender, to prove that IT'S WHERE YOU GO and all you need is creativity.
>>
>>3175664
fatboy here. right on man. the spot i've been skating is pretty rough too and it's on a slight hill. it's just steep enough to make pushing and keeping my balance a pain.

Im literally at the same point but I think skating is mad fun I don't plan on stopping. Might try transition to mix things up. There's a million different ways to ride a skateboard you can always try something new and come back to the shuvits

maybe chris is saving footage for a new frog video. i had no expectations for the 917 video and didn't even know the team. it turns out i've seen most of them in the johnny wilson videos. i liked how they had cyrus and max at the end (save the best for last) - good style, creative skating. AO's part was a disappointment. i had to mute it and he had too few clips. i like nik's style but his part was short too. there was some great skating, but i wouldn't rewatch the whole thing

I'm in the middle of it, and I've never heard of any of these skaters except Alex Olson but they remind me of skaters like Bobby Puleo and Ricky Oyola who did relatively simple tricks on gnarly and rugged spots, which is pretty neat.
Tre flips over El Toro are cool but they don't really want to make you skate in the end, while I'm already hyped to go to the skatepark now. Also the music is pretty great at time (Pavement, Duster, Melvins, Jean-Luc Ponty...) Thanks for the discovery.

How many times have you broke a bone, anons?
>>
>>3181243
On that note, how bad of an idea is it to pick skateboarding up as a hobby while uninsured? Is it a case of "don't be retarded and you'll be fine" or is it basically inevitable to hurt yourself enough to go to the hospital?
>>
>>3181243
I've never broken a bone, however i've gotten concussions, stitches, and fractures

Chances are that as a begginner you probably wont be getting injured very badly, so I think you'll be fine.
>>
>>3181243
Broke my wrist this February after skating for 8 years. It sucked so badly cause I broke both the Scaphoid and the Ulnar
the two bones in the wrist/forearm area
I had a cast on for almost 3 months after that, now I permanently wear a pad at that side while skating cause it's so weak. I don't really see it ever recovering fully now cause it still hurts so much on a daily basis.
>>3181271
Can't really speak for being uninsured cause I live in bongland with free healthcare, but that's the worst injury I've ever had beyond bruises and the odd sprain here and there. The best way to think of it is that freak accidents can happen, you don't even need to skate. You could break a bone anytime, even just walking down the street.

It's not free, you pay for it through your taxation and in return you get the services of the NHS. You pay the doctors, you pay the hospitals, you even pay the organisers of all that network i.e. the bureaucrats.
It's just that your taxes go for something fundamentally important and not completely towards bombs, tanks and drones.

I want to start freestyle skating cause I don't have too much space to skate but it's so hard to get stuff for a proper freestyle board here at reasonable prices. So I'm thinking about just setting up a 7.25 or 7.5 board and shaping the nose and tail myself. Anybody got any experience doing this?

Hi guys, I haven't been here that long, but I just wanted to say I give up skateboarding, and ask for your guys' opinion on why I failed so much.

Here's the story:

I've been skating for about 6 months now, I started because I thought it might help with my confidence and fear of people, and I've always liked the idea of it. So I borrowed a skateboard, and started. For the last 6 months I've been trying to turn my board around 180, shove-it and ollie, none of which I have succecfully done(while riding, at least.)
Today I went skating, and got frustrated because I couldn't turn my board 180 (or whatever it's called, it's such a basic thing that I'm guessing it doesn't have a name,) that I stomped my board. I didn't think that it would break.

Any way do you guys have any idea how it's possible for a person to suck this bad?
>>
>>3183108
Sorry I misspelled successfully.
>>
>>3183108
Ollie is the hardest trick to learn. I know people who have skated for years and still cant front 180. My 180s are shit. Just ride it around if you have friends that skate then hang out with them and eventually it will kinda make sense. The first couple years you may only learn like 3 or 4 tricks its a steep curve
>>
>>3183108
>I've been skating for about 6 months now
That's basically nothing. Get another board and keep going. I've been skating for 10 years now and some days I can't land shit that I learned 8-9 years ago. It happens. Just lay down and take a break, the fact that you even took time to post this says to me that you still want to skate. Just chill out for a while.
>>
How do I improve my ollie? I am learning how to skate again. Still pussyfooting. I am afraid of spraining my ankle. Also my ollie is crooked, it always stop.

I am 23 now, last time I skated I was 15.
>>
>>3183108
I'm in a similar position to you. The difference is, I haven't lost hope yet. I'm trying my best to stay motivated and progress.
For the past 3 or 4 months I've been trying hard to get my Ollies down while rolling. I still can't ollie up a curb, while rolling faster than walking pace or even land on top of the board consistently. One night I spent half an hour straight trying to ollie over a matchbox. and I did it, and it felt as if I'd ollied over a car. man how pathetic does that sound. but it hasn't turned me down. every time I watch a skate video I think I would be the happiest man in the world if I could do one tenth of what I was watching and I know I can work up to that.
>>
>>3183108
you need to practise smarter
>>
>>3184224
your instinct when you jump is to turn your shoulders. dont. Face perpindicular to the direction your moving and never shift at all. it will be stiff and weird at first but you have to stay straight to maintain control of the board

Bad times this weekend lads. Got my shit stolen at a skate park. Bag contained:
>Set of wheels (forgot i had these in the bag, should have left them in the car)
>Sunglasses
>Wax
>Skate tool
>Multitool
>plus water and caffeine for the day and the bag itself

The park is 40 mins form both home and work, so I won't be there often enough to spot the bag if the shitstain comes back using it. Chances are it was some skooty-puff jr since they outnumber everyone else there 2:1, i.e. he probably can't even use most of what he stole.

You need scientific notation to measure my blood pressure right now.

Holy. Fuck.

Did you guys know Greyson Fletcher played in a tv series, that is somewhat related to his surf royalty family? Just found out and am about to watch the whole season, my friend found out about it and bought the dvds!
