Thank you for posting BitBay in the OP. I was going to shill my heart out for it. It's amazing how things are shaping up with it and at this point I think the only thing scaring away new money is the fact that it isn't being aggressively marketed yet. It is also a bit Shit to use on a Mac but the client isn't ready for normies anyways so that's fine with me for the next 6 months or so.
>>
>>1962825
I have high hopes for BitBay. It just needs a better ui and faster development, but im also fine with waiting.

Im glad i bought some PIVX and ARK too before the blow up yesterday, thinking of buying some more

Who missed the black hole dip on GDAX last night? Bitcoins were purchased for $0.06 - the historical low since its launch in 2009. I was 15 minutes late when I saw it. A literal pull-back of the curtain. A 'glitch' in the matrix and a literal overnight multi-million dollar opportunity.

Let's say I wanted to buy $2,500 worth of BTC at $0.06 (41,666 BTC) - would that have been even possible? In volume? GDAX, what's the supply? I can't fucking get over it.

I bought Burst at ~130 Satoshi some days ago and it's over 200 now, I expect it to grow more.

About Burst:
burst is the first cryptocurrency you can mine with your harddrives, making it enery efficent to mine. It's listed on poloniex and has a really nice community at burstnation.com.
This is not a shitcoin, burst was introduced in 2014.

It'll pump, I'm not too phased on the long term prospects on it however. Swallow I know, that's crypto in 2017

I would hold for just a bit longer to see what the coin is doing at that point. If it slows to a crawl for a while you may as well sell into something else, but right now it's looking pretty good. Volume seems to be increasing steadily
>>
Bought Incnt 3 days ago. Already up over 130%

They have made a WAVES<>ETH token portal along with their original goal of getting normal businesses on the blockchain through thier Customer loyalty programs.

Mobilego is going to make at least a 50k buy when thier ICo goes live. .5% of thier ICO goes directly into buying Incent and Mobilego's ICO should be HUGE.

Incent has their hands in many pies right now. It's gonna be a coin you want in your portfolio. Should be an easy double right now. Up 30% a day more or less.
>>
Long term everyone should have some WBB. They are very quiet about what is going on but thier investors and ALPHA members are very very loyal and there is an insanely low coin supply.

Do your own homework. Take a look at how much a 10000 coin buy would move the price.

I don't know that much about it but as an exchange it is really good. My understanding is that the value of the coin is tied to how popular the exchange is.

The USP of the exchange is that you get the interest (something to do with POS) on coins, whereas other exchanges keep this for themselves

almost the same story here. Used BTC to buy drugs back in the day but never went back to crypto because I was bitter and thought the ship had sailed anyway.
But I accidentally visited /biz/, saw the shills, bought some ETH (when it was 9$) and just got really lucky. With my newfound money I bought some XRP and got really lucky there, too. Same with REP. Fearing for a crash I started spreading out more and now I've got various shitcoins but lmao who cares if one fails, the others make up for it.

whats a good price to get in with bitbay? I bought in at around 300 a while back and sold around 500ish, but being an idiot and treating bay as a quick buck i sold all out. been waiting for a good price for a few days now, starting to think i need to adjust my price
any thoughts?

I got in before the first pump when bitbay was all you'd see on here for a couple days. Bought at 230 and 350, didn't get to dump on the 600+ peak, but still 570 or something. Honestly don't think I'll ever go back in again. It had like 2 more pumps after that but both were weaker.

im on the fence. over the last few days ive regretted the money ive got tied up in ltc that I could have been buying and selling on bay and making money.
any other recommendations for a 1-3 week investment? not looking for day trading or long position here, just a short term make some cash kind of thing
was looking at zec or dcr, both look like they could break out at some point but im not sure, too hard to tell. the volatility on bay is nice right now though, easy to make some money hopefully

>>
>>1969795
It is the first coin ever mined with the unique Algorithm Proof of Capacity or as others call it Proof of Space.
It was introduced in 2014 and since mid 2016 it started to grow and a community formed at burstnation.com.
There are currently 5 active devs, working on the wallet, a better block explorer and more.
And most importantly the burst asset exchange.
You can buy assets with burst there and receive dividends. All that happens on the blockchain!
There is even a burstnation radio station with giveaways, music and talks about burst.
And every week, there is a dev livestream on youtube.
This is just the start. Burst has a bright future.

Crypto coins have little liquidity so I am not sure why anyone thinks of them as currency. Yes you can trade them for certain things, like drugs, but because of the lack of liquidity your ability to then buy something useful, like food or a house, is almost non-existent. Furthermore, the "exchange rate", if you can call it that, is so volatile that no business could do any sort of realistic planning using them as payment.

They only appear to be useful as an investment, but since there is no intrinsic value, it is all fetish value that makes its price rise, a lot like the tulip market in the 1600s. The tulip craze came crashing down when tulips lost their fetish-luster and the same thing can easily happen to crypto coins. I would never buy into it.

What is the general consensus here about buying Bitcoins as a long-term investment (say a few years up to 10-20 years potentially)?

In its first few years its value has increased by many orders of magnitude. Can that continue into the future? I've read articles saying that 1 Bitcoin could be worth $1,000,000 potentially.

Basically I'm a normie, and I don't have the inclination to learn about all the other sorts of altcoins that exist. Say I have a few thousand dollars I can throw around today, what should I do with it where I don't have to invest much time and effort into the investment?

Do people set up walls for multi-pair currency traded on multiple exchanges?

For example, ETH is traded for eur, usd and btc on kraken and many other. And you want to make a buy wall at 44.9998 eur. Does your wall have impact on other exchanges, if you've set it up only for one pair on one exchange? Or is it so abysmal and no point, if you've got no resources to spare on erecting multiple walls in different places?

Super newfag here.
So you start off by filling a wallet with USD, like on coinbase, and then you exchange the BTC (Bitcoin currency i assume) for other currencies, like Bitbean?, on a website like Cryptopia? So this is essentially currency trading? With the expectation of one value rising faster than another?
>>
>>1974141
Yes, that's correct. You exchange you're USD in BTC and then in another coin, if you want. But don't buy Bitbean, it's overhyped here. And yes this is currency trading. For profit you have to buy that currency at a low price and sell it at a higher price. But it's not that easy, you have to be very careful and don't be emotional, when trading.
>>
>>1974179
So if say I wanted to mess around with $100, I would first need to connect my bank account, or debit card?, with Coinbase. From coinbase how do I go about getting money onto Cryptopia to exchange for a different currency?

>>1974182
I'm not sure how it works exactly with coinbase, I don't use it, but I think you can buy bitcoins there with credit card or bank account. I think you have to verify with you're ID too. There are ways to get bitcoins without verification, but you will get less bitcoins for your money and beware of scams. Only use trusted websites and buy from trusted people. That's very important, because everybody could scam you. After you bought it there, just send them to the exchange wallet. You will find the adress to this in the exchange.
>>
>>1974220
So I should use Electrum instead of Coinbase is what I'm seeing
>>
>>1974243
Coinbase is a trusted website. Electrum is a good wallet too. It's up to you.
>>
>>1974261
But I cannot buy from electrum correct? So I would need to buy from Coinbase and then transfer the bitcoins to Electrum which is more secure?
>>
>>1974111
whats the point of this image?
>>
>>1974264
Yes, correct, but it would be cheaper to send them directly to an exchange, because there are fees, when you send coins.
>>
>>1974275
Not him, but you're saying you should just send BTC to an exchange to trade right away?
For example, I buy BTC at coinbase/gemini, then I should instantly send that to something like POSW to then exchange for POSW or whatever?
>>
>>1974280
Yes, if you want to trade with the coins, better send them directly to the exchange.
>>
>>1974290
Alright thanks. I was considering holding onto some BTC as well as ETH but I think I'll just hold ETH and stake POSW.

>>1962811
yobit is a scam
>>
>>1977263

Practical uses in 5-10 years.

Wealthy Foreign - tech savy individuals from countries like China/India are using blockchain to escape poor monetary decisions by central banks. With proper security measures it is safer than gold, greater opportunity for growth and much easier to flee if things get messy.

Not Wealthy Foreign - blockchain will begin to make waves in countries with non-functional currencies like Venezuela. As it gains marketcap it will be ready to take on the next 'victim' because it will inherently be less volatile and more stable.

Normies In The First World - first world normies will be using blockchain tech and not even know they are using it. I was in Shanghai and there were dozens of accelerators and incubators working on making blockchain tech an actual product people will use.
>>
>>1977270

Govt backed cryptos will be a thing but they will not prevail ultimately in the same way that the early intranets used by office buildings and such failed to make real tech innovation. You should have most of your crypto portfolio in bitcoin but diversifying is important. Will there be 'one chain to rule them all', I don't think so personally but that is a discussion that can go on forever.
