I've heard good things about Yolanda and the actual design of the dress is cute but goddamn does it look cheap. I'd be livid if I paid $700 for a dress and got that.
>>
>>10026575
Holy shit, that thing's Yolanda?
What the fuck happened, did they get robbed lmao holy shit
>>
Finally, we're starting to get more news on this event. Next weekend they're announcing a guest and ticket release details.

I hope they actually announce the venue before the tickets go on sale. They're really holding off on announcing that for some reason.

Anyone else worried that the tickets are going to be more expensive than usual? I don't know why I keep thinking this, I just have the strangest gut feeling that it's going to be pricier than normal events.

I remember victorianme reviewed a very simmilar (the same???) yolanda dress and it was like 150$? And it looked less like garbage?
>>
>>10026588
The fabric's shine might be due to different lighting, but how is the price so drastically different? Does Yolanda jack up their prices for oversea buyers like Krad Lanrete does?

It was 700 canadian dollars tho, the dress is about 530 usd on devilinspired. If I was to blow at least 500 $ on a roccoco looking dress, I would definitely go for a Pompadour OP. Plus it was priced around 600$ by AP, nothing like the 1000+ $ Lor was claiming brands would price a similar design.
>>
>>10026574
Lor loves harsh, shadow-blasting lighting for her videos. I've noticed that there are hardly any dark shadows around her when she films, which indicates a lot of lights used to make her face seem softer. I wouldn't be surprised if this dress looked drastically different in natural or diffused light. It's a pretty dress, I want to see it in different light, and that price is misleading. It's $700CAD, which is closer to $535USD through DevilInspired. FURTHER, I looked at Yolanda on taobao, and they want 1930 Chinese yuan - around $300USD.
So... Lor paid too much. Lor used bad lighting. It's not the dress, it's Lor.
>>
>>10026574
Well she didn't have to pay for it, did she? Thank goodness. She mentioned it's a PR package, and she did recommend new lolitas not to go for it, which seems fair.
I want to say it probably looks better irl? Hopefully, anyway.
>>
>>10026601
>it was priced around 600$ by AP, nothing like the 1000+ $ Lor was claiming brands would price a similar design
And it's a lot prettier, too. No surprise about Lor not knowing anything about brands though.
>>
>>10026606
How did Lor become so out of touch? I like that she's reasonably down to earth and as odd as her personal style can be I sort of dig it, but it feels like she has no idea what happens with brands, what happens in communities, anything.

When did she become an ita-pandering ka-why-ee YTer?
>>
>>10026603
>DevilInspired
Yeah but how much is it from their taobao store
>>
>>10026588 #
>>10026603 #
I'm still so confused with the price thing though. Here it clearly says the dress was 150$ for victorianme. Maybe that weird hat is... Also 150$?
300$ still seems like too much for this dress. The tacky gold threads and the style remieds me of Baby Ponytail, and their OPs only sell for around 200$.
>>
>>10026616
iirc she said the hat was part of the pricing, as in the dress and hat = the 700CAD
>>
>>10026616
It’s currently $280,33USD on their Taobao. I know their first release was indeed cheaper and more around the price you mentioned. They must have raised the price big time for the re-release.
Still that mark up by Devilinspired is huge! But we already knew it that they are one of the most expensive resellers. Only newbies buy buy from them, because of all those e-famous Lolita’s promoting their store. Experienced Lolita’s know better.

>>10026624
I really want ScarfingScarves to compare the two lolitas and how they purchased the same dress at different costs. Not trying to throw shade on Lor, but it needs to be done and educate the lolita comm at large that you don't need to buy from markup places.
>>
>>10026580
The previous one (Barcelona) was cheaper than the event before that (Amsterdam)
>>
>>10026615

> I looked at Yolanda on taobao, and they want 1930 Chinese yuan - around $300USD
>>
>>10026580
It's in Germany. Depends on where in Germany. Eastern Germany is cheaper sans Berlin. Bavaria would be the most expensive.
>>
Speaking of Yolanda, a ring of mine snagged a thread on my Bunny's Herbology up front and centre. All the snagged thread fixes I've searched for online only instruct on how to tuck the loop back in again, not how to deal with a white streak of running thread in printed polyester. Help?

I really want to fix this because I have only worn this dress twice. Perhaps nobody else will notice the little snag, but I notice it all the time!
>Forgive the overly saturated photo and edgy filename.
>>
>>10026626
Probably won't compare the two individuals but it'll be pretty informative to newbies to compare the two ways to buy, i.e. with a shopping service or via reseller. I doubt this is something LWLN would be interested in though, it's not exactly entertaining.
>>
>>10026588
Isn’t this the same dress? And I went onto Yolanda’s taobao site and it says the dress is only like $230 usd. Devilinspired is a scam and anyone who buys their listings are getting robbed. Even other taobao agent websites sell the same dress for almost half the price (about $350usd). Shame on Lor for promoting that shithole website.

All the MTO talk has me bummed out. My only dream dress is the Sweetie Violet OP in lavender and I missed the MTO by like two weeks. Not that I had/have the money, but I would have made an exception for that.

I'm hoping that someone who ordered it will end up deciding to sell it so I can have the opportunity to get it after all, especially if it's still NWT and not more than $200.

>one girl bought a dress for cheapish
>one girl received a PR package for free, from the most expensive taobao reseller, which marked up the price more than 2x the original, then claimed resellers are cheaper than using shopping services in a video to her 50,000 subscriber audience

also doesn't scarfing scarves cover multiple topics in one video?
>>
>>10026682
>This will be based on a variety of factors, including past donations, past volunteering, past brand/stall participation and past attendance. Tickets remaining after the first round will be offered for general purchase as usual.

I think that's such shit, there hasn't even been an SFE event since last year, and they've only had what, two or three events total? That's also such a big closed pool of people to offer a first round of tickets to. I always want to believe that the EGL/LJ oldfags aren't this cliquey but they do everything to prove me wrong.

I hate all this ~exclusivity~ shit. If you want to have a big private party with just people YOU like, just do that. Don't wave the carrot over everyone else's heads.

>>
>>10026672
>>10026716

Stuff that's been through MTO tends to sell pretty close to retail, because it's a bloody six+ months wait for the dress itself even the impulse buyers who no longer want the dress tend to feel they can afford to wait another six months for someone willing to pay at least retail price.

The only way I could see someone turning around and taking a loss on an MTO they'd just received is if they had some kind of trouble and will take a loss for fast money.

I'm after the pink colour way and would like it cheap myself, but I can't really feel good wishing ourselves luck because it likely means we're praying for some innocent stranger out there to run into trouble so that we can get a dress for cheap. idk, I'd settle for a used dress at $200 or maybe try again in a year's time when the sellers just want the dress gone. It's not my dream dress though.

>"shame on Lor"

seriously it's not that big a deal??
sit down and let Lor be happy about her dress. if you or other newbies don't want to buy using a reseller you don't actually have to, fyi.
also fyi, buying from taobao can be difficult for newbies and sometimes resellers save time and hassle, even if they markup the prices.
>>
>>10026693
I know it's Boz but that design is super awkward, and if they can't even press it properly for stock images it will probably look really dicey irl

I'm looking at a lot of Shelgit items and they're saying things like MADE IN CHINA on their listings. Has that always been the case? Is Sheglit's quality still good?

Also, what other brands are quietly manufacturing in China now? I know MmM at least is still Japanese made.
>>
>>10026787
In the video the dress was listed at 500 usd. So that's still a 150 difference. Still a fucking scam lmao

>>
>>10026901
Made in China doesn't guarantee shit quality and made in Japan doesn't guarantee good quality. It's all about the individual factory.

Anyway, I think Btssb/AatP are still mostly made in Japan, at least for main pieces.

Maxicimam is made in Japan still. But idk if we are discussing strictly gothic brands.
>>
>>10026787
Lor shows the listing in usd as $530 on devil inspired. That’s still a $200 increase compared to what competitor websites are selling it for. Websites that don’t have the scammer drama attached to them
>>
>>10026901
I'm not sure about the brand's history, but the 2 pieces I own from Sheglit (bolero and corset) are made in China. No complaints about their quality and the bolero is lined.

I checked some of the newer dresses I own and can confirm that AP chiffon pieces seem to be made in China too. Meta's latest re-release of Dozing Cat was made in the Philippines.

Made in China does guarantee some degree of shit quality. You really think those factories can beat first world atelier shops with direct oversight of designers?

If you think you're so right, tell me one Chinese brand made by Chinese that can beat a Japanese brand made in Japan or even a Japanese brand that oversees a Chinese factory. Chinese don't know shit about quality, nor do they care, and the consensus among the Chinese lolita is that's true, too.

>Made in China does guarantee some degree of shit quality. You really think those factories can beat first world atelier shops with direct oversight of designers?
I'm assuming you've never been to business or fashion school, but read http://www.thefashionlaw.com/home/are-your-made-in-china-luxury-goods-just-as-luxurious. If you don't believe that article, the Kering lawsuit case might be more familiar: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/kering-group-sued-made-italy-eyewear-claims-1014709, https://fashionunited.uk/news/business/kering-faces-lawsuit-over-made-in-italy-label/2017062024897, https://www.vogue.co.uk/article/kering-defends-made-in-italy-selima-optique-lawsuit
Even items "Made in Japan" don't actually have to be 100% made in Japan. The average clothing item usually goes through 19 hands, from designer to manufacturer, quality check, etc. but only one country shows up on the tag. So long as a brand assembles the finishing touches on an item in Japan, they can write an item as made in Japan.

You don't see Japanese lolitas buying every colorway of a dress that they like. All of those photos of crazy huge wardrobes and the Bless from Saint Michael rainbow are from chinese lolitas.
>>
>>10027099
If that's true, how many brand stores are in China and how many are in Japan? Why can't they single-handedly take the industry to China if they are the "new audience"? Because they can't actually support it like that. The only Chinese buying brand are the wealthy like the rich in Shanghai. You do understand that there's been Paris, NY, and LA exclusives merchandise, too? It's not an indicator of "buying more". Shanghai is legitimately throwing money at Japanese brands, though, but the Chinese as a whole? No.
>>
>>10027065
Have you considered the entire smartphone industry
>>
>>10027103
How many complaints have people had about AP's quality dip because of China? Even so, a Japanese brand overseeing a Chinese factory still manages to be better even than the "best" Chinese taobao brand. Don't ignore I said it like that on purpose.
>>
>>10026629

>>
>>10027090

She buys both brand and taobao. Right after that video she literally did a gigantic brand haul (can't remember if it's AP or Baby because I don't care). She also has a nice collection of VM and MM.
>>
>>10027109
Sorry anon but money talks. That's why brands like BABY will throw fancy tea parties and fashion shows for Shanghainese lolitas, but not for their western locations.
Exclusives are hardly a good way to gauge what locations are popular/shopped at the most though since lolitas from other countries often use shopping services to get exclusives if they really want them.
>>
>>10027116
By your own logic, "follow the money", there should be more brand stores in China, but there isn't. Shanghai is sort of like a crazy wealth spike in China that doesn't at all represent the rest of the country.

To you are me, the richest lolitas of China absolutely beat the "richest" of Westerners. Absolutely. Can you think of a single Western lolita that can beat Bless from Michael weibo lolita, for example?

But if we'd measure average Americans or Europeans vs. average Chinese, then we beat them in average wealth by a longshot. That's also why we have brand in Paris, multiple in America, and places that are multi-brand like Tokyo Rebel. Why do you also think you can buy tons of shit from aliexpress and taobao for basically nothing? The yuan is not a first world currency.

That circle of wealthy lolitas support what's in Shanghai and the brand pandering tea parties there, then everything else is the taobao market for poor Chinese.

I'm actually considering hunting down some artist friend who's got lose pigment (like that pastel thing you use for dolls?) and just covering the white thread in it. >>10027272
Use acrylic. It's plastic so it doesn't bleed. Also use a very, very, VERY thin brush.
>>
>>10027106
That's because of the culture difference. Not because they haven't done it.
>>
>>10027065
How lovely, a weeb that knows just about nothing about Chinese manufacturing.
>>
>>10027307
How do you know this? Do you actually live in China? Why do people assume so much shit about china when they have never been there.
>>
>>10027328
How is having been there relevant? I can see the cultural difference about consumerism when shopping in Japan and watching their behavior.
>>
>>10027090
If you'd ever looked at 2.taobao or weibo, you would know that many non-wealthy Chinese lolitas buy Japanese brands. And that most ultra-wealthy Chinese lolitas also buy Chinese brands. Much like Western lolitas, each Chinese person is also an individual and can be idiosyncratic! Gasp
>>
>>10027337
Because china is pretty shut off from the rest of the world. Notice I didn't mention Japan?
>>
>>10027343
What's your point? We're referring to the wealthy Chinese who actually leave the country and buy things in Japan.
>>
>>10026609
Since she moved to Canada. I firmly believe she doesnt even like lolita anymore and she's only wearing it because of yt.
>>
>>10027356
What do you base this speculation on?
>>
>>10027365
not that anon, but she's made videos recently about how "uncomfortable" it is, and stated she doesn't even wear it that much, etc.
>>
>>10027294
>>10027302
Hah! I knew posting my woes on my stale bread gobbling forum would yield some kind of advice. Thanks gulls!
>>
>>10027346
because >>10027307
mentioned that it was a cultural difference.
>>
>>10026758
It's going to be nearly impossible to get tickets when I hear this. I also keep wondering why it's taking so long to announce information. The event was announced months ago and there is still no basic information, just the country. Does anyone know what's going on with SFE?
>>
>>10027342
No way anon, all Chinese people fit perfectly into molds that ignorant westerners think up!
>>
>>10026766
All of their previous events sold out dumbass. There are people who wanted to go to every SFE event, but couldn't get tickets. I've only been to 1 of their events for that reason.
>>
>>10027488
I thought the Barcelona one didn't sell out?
>>
>>10027301
IIRC when they shut down in Paris someone from the SF store confirmed they weren't in danger of closing there because their stores outsold some Japan locations

>>10026970
2015 Vampire Nocturne is polyester but was made in Japan, while the cotton pieces I have from the 2016 Baby Classical Series were made in China. Baby were making boleros and cardigans in China as early as 2007.
>>
>>10027496
Then how come their stores are empty all the time and lolitas visit the store and don't buy jack shit??
>>
>>10027527
>lolitas visit the store and don't buy jack shit?
Funny how you know everything that every lolita does at the store, do you work there?
Maybe they visit because they want to see a lolita store in person and don't buy anything because they can't find anything they like. That happens. No one is obligated to buy anything just to earn the right to be at a certain store.
>>
Anyone in toronto been to twylite fashion?
>>
>>10027540
Oh hey I heard about that place! It has a website that hasn't been uploaded in forever. I wanted to stop by on my last visit to toronto but I didn't end up having time.
I too would like to know what it's like in there.
>>
>>10027530
I'm not saying that, geez.

But other anon was talking about how come they don't have a fuckton of stores in China, because supply/demand argument.

My point is that obviously isn't the case because we've got empty stores in the US in a rich city. They must be selling hella shit online cause it sure as fuck isn't happening at their store.

So clearly, trying to measure who the brand really caters to by way of how many physical stores they have is not possible.
>>
>>10027552
Iirc there was some speculation about the possibility that AP and Baby aimed to have stores in Paris and NY for the novelty of it, especially the former. Wouldn't surprise me if that were the case; IW's Fujiwara was quoted saying she'd love to have a store in England when it's financially possible, and she's a huge teaboo so it makes sense.
I don't know if it applies to AP and Baby, but again, wouldn't be surprised if it does.
>>
>>10027562
>IW wants shop in England
Wonder if she'll reconsider that after Brexit makes it suck as a Euro hub
>>
>>10027565
Likely. I don't quite remember when that interview was held but it was definitely before Brexit happened. I feel bad for the English lolitas, really.
>>

>>
>>10027562
Baby store in NY shut down though?? Guess they couldn't afford the novelty of that particular city?
>>
>>10027611
Baby Paris shut down too, and iirc AP Paris struggled and shut down, and later reopened at a different location, they seem to be doing better now.
>Guess they couldn't afford the novelty of that particular city?
That's exactly my point, though to be fair they'd probably do decently at these cities if the stores had better, more visible locations and better management.
>>
>>10027623
Sorry, I didn't mean to come off that way!
I guess Shanghai location is more popular considering they have all those big ass tea parties? I think it's pretty obvious that a lot of Chinese lolitas buy up all the brand. But I'd still like to figure out why it is just more popular there as opposed to everywhere else. People claim its popular in the west, but it's nothing compared to how I see it in China.
>>
>>10027570
It was during Regalia, the TPC event she was guest of honour at.

Nayrt but Japan/China relations have only recently started improving. It’s possible that they may build stores there in the future, but not that long ago many Japanese businesses that had branches in China completely withdrew because of tensions between the two countries.
>>

I would love it if they re-released honey cake in a longer cut

>>
>>10027562
Yeah, but she never did make a store in England. You can't just dream it up and hope it works and they know that as business owners. They put AP and Baby in Paris not just for "novelty", but because it was for all of Europe and tons of Japanese tourists. LA has a huge Asian population and there's Little Tokyo there. Even NY, which was calculated because NYC is the biggest city in the US, have struggled to keep j-fashion brands open. I can't believe people are stupid enough to think stores overseas are ~novelty~ and can be plopped in some desert and make it up in online sales and Chinese on a pilgrimage.
>>
>>10027766
Mint Rose Toilette is very desaturated in person, it's def just the mint. Gray would be quite pretty though.
>>
>>10027763

>>
>>10027698

>>
>>10027782
I never said it was JUST for novelty, just that it wouldn't surprise me if the brands having a brick and mortar store in Paris *did* also have that aspect to it. It's merely speculation, no need to get so angry.
>>
What do you all tell your families this fashion is called?
For a long time, I just tried really hard to avoid it, but now when I'm pressed for an answer, I say it's "otome"
I figure if one of them Google's it, they probably won't be able to tell the difference
What about everyone else?
Do you say "Lolita" and then have to explain the history, or do you say Lolita and not care? Or do you also just like like I do?
>>
>>10028079
I just go for "elegant gothic lolita" bc word sandwiches generally tend to confuse the masses and at least that way they can recognise that it's a gothic substyle, something they might understand a bit better. My mother just calls it "lolita" and she's usually pretty scandalised that people immediately associate it with the book.
>>
>>10028079
I discovered it when I was a teenager and didn't know much about the connotations of the name so I felt comfortable calling it lolita right off the bat, and my parents never had a problem with it, either because I was very matter-of-fact about it and didn't shy away from it (thus didn't make it seem like something to be ashamed of), or because they didn't know about the connotations, or both. The same principle works when I talk to strangers too, actually, but I guess that depends on where you live.
>>
>>10028079
My family know it's called lolita and the names of some of the brands. They understand it's not a secret sex thing (mostly), so it's fine. I've been in lolita for nearly five years now though so they've had a long time to get used to it. I avoid namedropping, ever, with co-workers though.

Also have you...ever actually googled otome? It comes up with otome games, and if you add "fashion" to it there are crossover results with lolita pages anyway.
>>
>>10028079
I'm so glad I don't have to deal with the whole "talk to my family" bullshit.
>>
>>10028079
When I got into the fashion ten years ago I told my mom it was called lolita. She flipped out for a second but when it was explained to her she understood. She only knows the name lolita not from the book or movie, but from Amy Fisher, “the Long Island Lolita”

Tangently related, but I noticed nowadays many normies aren’t familiar with the book/movie Lolita anymore. I was at a meetup recently and a normie woman asked us why we are dressed up. The group was silent for several seconds so spoke up and explained this is a Japanese street fashion called lolita. The woman smiled, was polite and didn’t seem to react when I said lolita. But then someone else in our group chimes in with “AND IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BOOK”. Now this made the woman react weird.

I think if we are tired of being associated with the book we need to stop bringing it up at every opportunity.
>>
>>10028185
>we need to stop bringing it up at every opportunity
Strongly agreed. If someone asks
>Oh, like Nabokov?
Then you can deny the connection, or give a more in depth explanation if the situation allows it; but otherwise, immediately jumping in with
>it's not about the book/movie/ageplay/little girls/seducing old men at all!!!
can plant these associations where they weren't before and makes things so much worse.
>>
>>10028197
That's true but someone "not reacting" like in >>10028185 doesn't mean they're not thinking it. When I met one of my current friends she asked me about lolita, I explained it was an alternative fashion, thought it was all good because she seemed fine with it. Few months later she told me she had totally thought it was a kink thing but hadn't said anything because she wanted to be polite and only realised it wasn't when she Googled it later.
>>
>>10028209
It's polite to make some attempt to censor names anon, not everyone who posts to RC uses a fake name profile.
>>
>>10028209

>>
>>10028209

>>
>>10028211
You don't know what most people are thinking nor do you get to discover how total strnagers really felt when you told them what lolita was on a street corner.
>>
>>10028211
True, but in the case of curious strangers it doesn't really matter whether they secretly think it's a sex thing and don't voice it because you'll likely never see them again, unlike in your example.
>>
>>10028211
There’s nothing we can do about people thinking it’s a secret kink thing, but on the off chance they don’t have negative associations with the term Lolita we should keep it that way. Bringing up how lolita fashion totally isn’t some weird fetish thing is what would make us look weird to people. Goths don’t go around proclaiming they totally aren’t satanists to everyone who will listen.

Are you sure? That lace looks about right, and I wasn't aware that a replica was even made of this dress because it wasn't super popular upon release.
>>
>>10026702
I'm pretty much an idiot and got ripped off on my first order from them. Reading this thread is making me so mad at myself. I was intimidated by taobao so I thought it would be fine to pay a markup. But I didn't even glance at what the markup WAS. Thank god I took advantage of a sale and saved even a tiny bit, but either way I lost so much money. Lesson learned. Just made a taobao account and am trying to figure out future purchases. :(
>>
>>10028254
>it wasn't super popular upon release
It was released many, many times since its initial release in 2005, that should tell you how popular it is. Nayrt but it's possible someone made their own replica of it, it doesn't look like Baby's construction at all.

I agree. Encouraging people to vote in general isn't bad, but I'm getting weird vibes that people are assuming / expecting that there's a "right" and "wrong" way to vote right now. I really, really don't like politics in Lolita because this is where I go to get away from that shit. I don't know exactly what SFE's deal is, but ohtralala kept posting lots of vague shit about the event a few months ago. Kept talking about "scary sums of money" and having to work out the laws in Germany pertaining to events of this nature. Also wanting to do a "luxury" event. She's forever vagueposting about "oooh I just got off the phone with x talking about y for SFE but I can't say anything!!" but that's been going on for months and months. Just like the SFE tourism posts, it got old fast.

No idea what's going on with the rest of SFE organisers, but it definitely feels like something went wrong somewhere along the line.

As of maybe 1 1/2 months ago they didn't seem to have a venue set yet.

I definitely want to take a guess of what guest(s) they're going to invite, they said they're announcing this weekend. Are there any major labels who have never visited Europe before? Or rarely?

Muuh Tokyo ss can do it
>>
>>10028504
I'm pretty sure Kyra is burned out, and it's not surprising. I didn't see her once!!" while running around an event doing organiser stuff.

Kyra is definitely able to run a great event, but I hope the people she's working with in SFE can pull their weight if she's trying to take a little less of the workload this time around.

There was a ballot box at the museum and at AP’s shop during the museum. Both were the same thing, called “textile award”. At some points they were giving ballots when you purchased and at other times a stack of them was just sitting out next to the box. There was no mention of a rerelease in regards to that vote, it’s purely speculation.
>>
>>10028558
Except nobody is calling Kyra out, we're talking about her because she's a big figure in organizing events.
>>
>>10028557

>>10028569
The french lolitas weren't there because there was a fucking transport strike. A good chunk of ticket buyers couldn't come because they couldn't physically get to the event. Speculation without knowing what actually happened is what leads to harmful rumours and drama.

I do Halloween instead of Christmas, if this helps.

Generally you can start doing themed prints late the month before. So for Halloween I’d start late September, for Christmas you could probably start early November and keep going until end of December, with some prints like Merry Bunny you could possibly keep going until Jan 1 since the print works for New Years’ party too.

As for wearing it more than once, your time is limited to those couple of months, but the number of wears depends on how your coord it, and where you wear it to. For eg I did Ghost Night Bride this year for a lolita meet, but I also threw a black cardi over it and wore it casually to brunch. If you stick to versatile jsks then usually you can dress them up for lolita meets, but also tone them down so you’re just wearing a themed dress in the spirit of the season when you meet some friends/family for shopping weekends or whatever, so that’s wearing it more than once a year.

The best part for me is boxing it all up post Halloween — because when next Halloween rolls around I get to unbox it all again and unofficially declare it’s now my favorite time of the year. I’m up to 5 Halloween dresses and multiple accessories now, this is opening gifts on Christmas, but I love everything and I also love the season. I guess that’s a huge part why I do it, Halloween is my favorite season and I love celebrating it all month long. I don’t do it for any other holiday, I just don’t like them as much.

For Christmas I mainly associate it with travelling and family drama. I’d meet the theme halfway with dresses that could work for Christmas but also the whole year round. Most of the party-themed prints work, or the giftbox prints. Then there’s also a few dresses like British Bear in green, Meta’s Snowy rabbit in green, Dim Light in green or red, and so on. This might be a better option if you really want a themed dress for Christmas and also want to wear it all year round.
>>
>>10028642

I have to ask. What do we know about Millefleurs? Why are they so dead even though people keep spreading rumours that they're still around? Who runs it, what are they like? Why is their Web design stuck in the 2000's and their social media is practically nonexistent? I have so many questions and can't seem to find answers anywhere

Thought's on IW's new sailor coat release? I'm really tempted but I'm not sure if the historical touches take it far enough out of weeb seifuku territory and I get the sinking feeling the A-line cut would make me look fat instead of kawaii because of boobs.

>>10029003
In the stock photos I thought it looked really cute, like Excentrique's cape coats, but even on the model it doesn't look that flattering. I think the longer length is one of the things that made me read it as more mature with nothing under it, but then it becomes really easy to look overstuffed.

I want to dye an old OP I got recently entirely black. The lace is white but very discolored, it's not necessarily yellowing but some of it has grayed while other areas remain stark white. What's the best way to dye it?
>>
>>10029000
Get into corsets and force your organs closer together
>>
>>10029000
>>10029021
Just diet it's not like it's hard. You'll look and feel better, not to mention be able to fit into sweet sweet oldschool burando.
>>
>>10029019
What's the material of the lace? If the stark white bits are chemical/polyester lace you're unlikely to be able to dye it at all.

>>10029035

>>
>>10029027
It's similar to what's on my Elizabeth OP

>>10029036
25 inch waist doesn't imply gross or lazy, it implies a structure issue that can be easily solved with a little compression. Oh wait you're probably >>10029034 why am I trying to reason with you

>>
>>10029036
Depends. I don't know how tall the other anon is, but I'm 5"9 and my waist is 24". I can't go any skinnier without it being severely underweight, so the only way I could go lower would be to use a corset.

>>
>>10028934

>>
>>10029039
You mean the rose lace, or the cotton torchon lace on the rest of it? If it's like the rose lace on Elizabeth it might not dye, but if you'd be OK with how the piece would look with those parts still white it's worth trying to dye it.

Just to make sure, are the bits of lace that greyed and the bits of lace that stayed white the same or different material?
>>
>>10029034
ok ana chan
my SO is around 5"4 and has around the same size and she's nowhere near fat but aight
>>
>>10029035
if you don’t have any fat to squish around corsets don’t really do anything quickly except ADD a few cms because they’re so bulky
>25” waist naturally, can lace down into 22” corset but actual exterior measurement when I’m wearing the corset is closet to 23-34”
unless you’ve got rolls, don’t expect to immediately loose inches off your waist by corseting. Fat squishs, bones don’t.
>sage for replying to obvious bait
>>
>>10029050
Sorry to hear. Maybe you can encourage her to be healthy by making hiking dates? Or dates to a pool, that's really good exercise. A lot of people have more success when their SO is helping them to be more healthy.
>>
>>10029019
You don't have to prebleach but I recommend a good color removing predye. Do several coats of dylon black. I usually do three, I prefer to dye in a bucket rather than the washing machine. Don't bother if your dress isn't a natural fabric.
Does it have any sort of print?
>Florals and other prints in cotton or natural fabric can be overdyed but you have to do at least two rounds more. Choose the two most common colours in the print, do rounds of dye in colours on the other side of the colour wheel to those common colours before doing the black or after one round of black.
>If it has a screen print or vinyl don't bother. It will look awful.
>If the lace is poly either don't bother or once you've done the dylon, boil it with soda ash and jacquard polydye in a metal stock pot. This process is expensive and more trouble than its worth
If you do it right you should end up with a black peice with white or coloured threads visible. Unless you do a polydye, these are going to be almost impossible to get rid of. I recommend covering them with lace or trim or just learning to love them.

They're all the same material. It's not like the rose lace on Elizabeth, but there are examples of people successfully dying that lace on elizabeth so I wouldn't worry even if it was.

>>
>>10029050
Sometimes it just has to do with rib size. Usually slightly wider natural waist size means she has a bit of a rectangular shape too.

>>
>>10029051
Ribs usually have a bit of flexibility, and genetics usually determine how flexibe they can be. If you wear a corset consistently, your waist can become smaller by a few inches and retain that shape even when not wearing a corset.
