Good news is I'll have actual project rooms again to do major things.

I didn't pick up my cat for the sole purpose of taking a photo with him, it was a disciplinary snuggle because he kept interrupting my outfit shots by trying to claw the shit outta my underskirt.

Most recent coordinate, the mismatched white and ivory piss me off but I don't have any ivory blouses so what can you do.

Looks good. One of the biggest thing I see cosplayer's overlook is eyebrows. If you don't want to shape them or fill them in, that's understandable. If you have a bit of a skill, you could do the trick where you put stick glue on and then foundation, and then draw the eyebrows on. Imo eyebrows are a great finishing touch for either gender. I think you could also pull off a makeup look similar to pic related (but a bit more toned down to fit Kiba perhaps), or have a female friend help you out.
Honestly though, even with out doing all the makeup shit I recommended you look good as is, I'm just being nitpicky

I got it tailored, so it suits me perfectly! The cloth I bought was two way stretch leather spandex and it was measured tight to make sure that it wrapped around my body well. I don't think the swim elastic was needed for my leg holes cause it doesn't cup my butt, if that makes sense.

Here's a photo of it from the side.
>>
Sorry for the quality. Only photo I have of it that's me not goofing off.

Power sewed a Daisy costume for a local con a few weeks back. Bringing her to Awa so hopefully I'll get some good photos of it.
>>
>>9604803
You should really iron all your seams more and maybe look into more opaque gloves, but this looks well constructed and you're very cute Anon! Would love to see this at AWA.
>>
>>9604812
I definitely plan on ironing the seams more before she's worn again. No worries there. I chose the gloves because I thought they looked cute.
>>
>>9604830
You should iron your seams while you are making it, not after the fact. If it's properly lined, you can't iron the seams.
>>
>>9604838
I know. The bodice seams were all properly ironed before the lining was sewed on. The skirt is not lined so I plan to go back in and properly iron those seams.

>>
>>9604803
This is so lovely, I love how nicely shaped and poofed the sleeves are!! I agree on the gloves, though, opaque ones would match a little better with the rest of the materials.

>>9604334
What you have looks fine so far aside from a little more makeup, but if the white tongue you have is chronic I'd check with a doctor to make sure it's not linked to a more serious health issue, it can be due to heart problems. Otherwise you might just need to brush it when you brush your teeth.

>>9603808

>>9604888
What did you use for the crystally parts of his costume? It looks natural and works really well!
>>
>>9605068
Crystal method actually really cheap and simple. Made clay pieces in the shapes I wanted with proper faceting, then took some thin styrene, placed it over top, and melted with heat gun. Pop off the styrene shells and glue around the edges to metallic coated cardstock, then cut out finished crystals and glue to costume.

Anon from pic here. Like I said, i'm fairly new so any kind of crit is welcome. Of course I wouldn't follow it blindly, it depends on the suggestions I'm getting.

For example, I wouldn't use a larger bow since my hair isn't voluminous enough and I don't do wigs, but a pink bow of the same size would show up more against my hair, or maybe one of those plastic headbands since i'm planning to get a plastic bracelet anyways.

Nothing wrong with adding wristwear though. Not saying that wristwear is 100% mandatory, especially for everyday looks but it's something I could look into.

I don't mind my shoes either, I have a gothic face and and an all over gothic vibe, so I think the shoes really work for me specifically. I'm still open for suggestions and new ideas because I just haven't been wearing the fashion for that long and don't have any contact with other lolitas that could give me feedback.

pic related are our hair accessories
>>
>>9605471
You can wear large bows with natural hair too. Put your hair up in small, high pigtails on either side of your head and wear the bow in front of them, it'll make your hair look voluminous.

Thanks, I appreciate it! It's been a lot of work, but I can see real, tangible, improvements in the quality of my work. The most major thing I did was make a completely new helmet. Here's a comparison of before (left) and after (right). These are all in situ con pictures, so the angle isn't perfect, but they illustrate the major differences. From the perspective of moving from old to new, even though there are no reused pieces between them:

The whole helmet is about 15% smaller, which is a significant difference.
The fit between the visor and the skull bowl is much tighter. This angle doesn't show it that well, but the roll on the edge of the visor is touching the skull bowl at the lowest three flutes on each side.
The ocularium (eye slit) is now much narrower and runs parallel to the curve made by the top of the ventail. This was probably the most critical improvement made towards the appearance.
I've added a roll to the edge of the metal around the ocularium for greater strength and to mesh visually with the detail on the top of the visor.
The part of the visor that mates with the top of the ventail is now perfectly flat instead of concave. It is now visible at normal viewing angles instead of being hidden by the ventail.
The ventail mates with the bevor much higher so that it no longer occludes the chin detail on the bevor.

As I learned, I'm not yet small enough to wear a chestplate like that without looking huge. Learning experiences and I'm still happy with it since it was my first time making armor or a mask like that.

Figure I'll make the hood baggier, attach the belt to the chest so it's even and that should make a difference.

Also lol judges award from small nothing con. It was the only lit photo I had where details were visible.

>>
>>9608356
Go easy on the filters
Use a stencil/tape off areas before you paint your fabrics so you can get sharper edges
Press your seams, especially on that dart that makes it look you have a very high, very pointed nipple
Your gold trim seems to be peeling off
>>
>>9608554
Lol you're right I should have known better than to post a pic with filters here.
I do press my seams I think the fabric just managed to unfortunately wrinkle in to that place when that photo was taken ( it isnt like that in any other pics).
Yeah I'm aware of the trim issue - since the costume was rushed I didnt have time to finish the applique so the insides of the rectangles arent sewn down.
>>
I dont have a picture because it's not worth posting, but I'm actually making a practice/test dress before I make my final version. I've never taken this step with sewing a cosplay before but it's giving me so much confidence. So at Otakuthon I made my first real costume and it had some flaws. I was curious, for the necklace and the broach on the waist what could I make them out of? I was constantly hotgluing it back together because everytime I sat or a kid would hug me they were breaking. I made the necklace out of circle rings wrapped in aluminum foil then clay and baked sealed with modpodge. the broach was done with wire, hoops and AF, MP and clay. But the broach by the third day had at least 6 cracks and the necklace broke in half.

Also for the bow I did the tops [yes i know i did them the wrong way] as uhh- Styrofoam. Was there something better?

Lastly any suggestions for how to keep the hood on my head? It was constantly being pulled backwards and exposing my wigcap and unfort there are tons of pictures floating with me wigcap exposed and no one telling me. ugh.

Anyway, any crit/advice for my first costume would help.

>>
>>9608356
What fabric did you use for the pink dress and gold? The gem looks ok, but a 3d one from resin or foam could look better :)
>>
>>9606591
Update: finished sealing and painting at this point, wished I have time to draw the black lines to make the props really pop, but it'll be fine without. I don't have a proper picture that isn't huge atm.

Four more days till I leave for a con, and I haven't sewn the tops yet. Hopefully I have time after work tonight, after I spray a coat or two of krylon uv-resistant matte.

Well here's how that thing goes.

It's not as simple as being "a special snowflake though" It feels a bit like a micro agression for lack of a better term

As a black person there is a small handful of characters I can cosplay in that are my race. So to be able to do most coplays I want to it's something I have to do. Like you say that like black people are doing this like it was a conscious choice like gender bending a character.

As kid the first time I saw myself on tv was static shock. I know that doesn't seem important now but let me explain. I think representation is something you don't see the importance of until you see the lack there of it for yourself. There's not a not of characters of color out there, plan and simple.

So I'm not gonna lie it does hurt a bit when I see white people cosplaying as characters of color becuase, white people have tons of other cosplays you can do, it just feels kind like "Hey remember you guys don't have shit, not even the characters made for you"

It just feels a bit disrespectful and I wish I could explain it better

Like I'd lose my shit if I saw a white girl cosplaying as princess Tiana or any of the princesses of color

I'm not attacking you anon, I'd just like to share my thoughts and your cosplay is quite nice desu

Hawt. My only nitpick is to work on the front of the wig a little more so the hairline isn't so obviously that of a wig. Then again it's a Halloween costume, so it's totally not critical that it ever gets done.

Also, for the love of god, iron that cape. You pull the look too well to be sloppy.

>>
>>9612192
A few rhetorical questions: I'm mixed race, but also light-skinned and white-passing despite being darker than most white people. I like Pharah and am part Egyptian. I like Michiko Malandro and Nilin Wells who are mixed. I'm not naturally as dark as any of them, so am I not allowed to cosplay them even though I share ethnicity? They are my own representation, yet because of this "whitewashing" discourse I feel nervous about wanting to cosplay them.

Symmetra in Indian, not black. She's also fairly dark-skinned compared to most Desi girls I've seen. So is an olive-skinned or a white-passing Desi person not allowed to cosplay her?

She's canonically on the Autism spectrum. If it's about representation of minority groups and people who aren't part of the represented group are essentially doing a disservice to people who are by taking characters designed to represent them, does this mean that neurotypical people also can't cosplay Symmetra?

I'm against blackfacing and I'm on the fence about non-black people cosplaying 100% black characters (not '''brown''' ambiguously or ethnically, or mixed) but you open a whole can of worms when you start getting upset about "whitewashing"- especially when it comes to nonblack PoC or "ambiguously tan" characters.

Call me old fashioned but I got into cosplay when people chose characters based on how much they enjoyed them. These were the days when nearly every Japanese title had a tan character of no defined ethnicity and white people still cosplayed them (sans brownface)- Ed, Aisha, Casca, etc.

So imo people should be able to cosplay the characters they enjoy so long as they don't black/brownface. If you're bothered by a white or white-passing person not matching the skin colour of their character, that's on you, not them. Just because someone is personally bothered by something does not grant them the right to tell someone not to do something that is, in the grand scheme of things, 100% harmless.

hi guys! i'm quite new here, but I wanted to share my first cosplay with you all. I put together a modest cosplay featuring Akeno Misaki from High School Fleet.

I would love to hear what you all think. I will say off the bat that the top ended up being much shorter than I had anticipated, but I think it did the job OK. I also had such a hard time finding those traditional school age loafers, so ended up going with an old pair of dance shoes I had from high school.

>Holy shit, fucking nice!! Perfect job, the golden pattern on the tabard is ace. I'd suggest sanding/wearing down the edges of the leg belt.

Thanks, embroidering the heraldry on the tabard was a pain, but I think it paid off. I dumped the texture files from the game for the reference pattern, but had to recreate them by hand to make them work on a flat surface. The actual embroidery itself was done by a machine following this pattern. Here's a (sort of bad) picture of me between poses, that captures the majority of the heraldry.

You've actually pinned one thing I hadn't finished. I was planning on adding metal tips to the belts, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I hadn't thought to weather the belts any, but I can see how that could be a significant improvement. Thanks!

I actually haven't done any intentional weathering on this costume. Mostly I let it beat itself up as I wear it and don't do virtually any preventative maintenance. This is Dark Souls after all. I figure some rust stains just make it look a bit more authentic.

My first guess without reading your post was that it was Haifuri so you get a passing grade at least. You should make the twintails pop out a lot more and cut your bangs in the middle.
Skirt should be higher up on your body, a direct frontal picture should have your shirt just-about reaching the skirt when you're standing normally, though it might be too short for that altogether.

You don't have to be exact but if it's 70% or more of the character and you get it wrong it'll look terrible. This goes for anything, even "shallow" things like giant oppai or being very petite. Still large busted and just average height is fine, but having a c-cup for a headsized tits character or being overweight and 6' for child just looks really off. Just as bad as inaccurate wigs and colors imo.

That being said idgaf if they're just doing it for fun or like the character. It makes me happy that they'll do it despite that even in a way t.bh. It's just when they're trying be "professional" or complaining about the lack of pics.

Okay so real talk, we had a very awkward teenage (maybe 20-21 at most) MTF come into my work a few weeks ago. MTF is talking to my coworker S (a woman) for a while and then goes "So when do you start to feel comfortable in your body?"

This MTF thought my coworker was also MTF and I suppose that's why she was so preoccupied with S. Still it was absolutely bizarre because S looks like a woman from a mile away. Her face is very feminine and she's curvy, and I mean stereotypical wide hips, smaller waist, and proportional breasts. MTFs don't carry weight like that without surgery.

It was really strange and I guess goes to show how teens don't quite get how bodies work.

Also fuck off.

trans are liable to be awkward af and read more into situations than they should (im saying this as an mtf),

Fuck off voldie. You still have like 20lbs to go before it's acceptable to take pics of yourself.
>>
>>9660039
yikes
>>
>>9660028
congrats voldie, how does it feel to be replaced as the cringiest lolita samefagger
>>

Post yourself, hag.

No thanks voldie. I'm not as dumb as you.

Hi Brazil-chan

Whore, your clothes are horrible! You have no fashion sense.

How sad. You can't take what you dish out.
>>

I just don't want to be posted in the same thread as voldie, I'm afraid her double chin might be contagious

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand how to coord Misty Sky. The print is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of color theory most of the things you try to put with it will go over a typical seagulls head. There's also Angelic Prettys nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into the print design- their company philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. A true lolita will understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of the dress, to realise that it's not just another print- it says something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Misty Sky truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the elegance in pairing a heart bag, which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenevs Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Angelic Pretty's genius wit unfolds itself on their computer screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

And yes, by the way, i DO have an AP tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. Its for my comms eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid

¶ And a woman having an issue of blood twelue yeres, which had spent all her living upon Phisitions, neither could be healed of any,

44 Came behinde him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediatly her issue of blood stanched.

45 And Jesus saide, Who touched mee? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him, said, Master, the multitude throng thee, and preasse thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?

46 And Jesus saide, Some body hath touched mee: for I perceive that vertue is gone out of me.

47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid, shee came trembling, and falling downe before him, shee declared unto him before all the people, for what cause shee had touched him, and how she was healed immediatly.

48 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort, thy faith hath made thee whole, goe in peace.)

>>

why are you thinking about her ass?

I'm more worried about others safety. She looks like a guy and nobody wants to see her unmentionables. She needs to wear stuff that fits her.

said you for real need to seek help for whatever is going on in your life that makes you this upset. This is not at all healthy.

This is putting you dangerously close to lolcow status.

When will newfags realize that you don't need to photoshop anything to fake screengrabs

>>9660292
some of those were me, too; nice try selfposting red navy chan
>>
>>9660300
I know there are ways you can make it look like you aren't samefagging without photoshop but I'm fairly sure you need to edit an image somehow to add in the (you) anon.
>>
>>9660300
>>9660297
nice try yourself, but I'm the one that posted proof
>>
>>9660300
When will newfags stop calling other people newfags to try and disguise their newfaggery?
>>
>>9660302
>>9660309
No, you don't have to edit the image to add in the (you). You just edit the html. Newfags, when will they learn.
>>
>>9660313
>the person lying about samefagging is explaining how to lie about samefagging to try and prove their internet prowess
my fucking sides
>>
>>9660313
Because that's way more common than someone popping open MS paint and taking two seconds to alter an image am I rite
>>
>>9660313
Were you the autist having a fit accusing everyone of samefagging in the bodyline thread?
>>
>>9660318
>>9660321
Are you alright anons? You seem a little confused, I'm not the anon who posted the screencap above, and I don't wear bodyline. Don't get so mad that someone called you a newfag that you can't think clearly, and think that everyone is as obsessive as you to take your petty internet arguments cross threads.

>>9660319
Yes it is? You literally right click, inspect, and take two seconds to edit the HTML. You're really showing how new you are.
>>
>>9660321
>mad enough about getting called out on samefagging that they go to other threads to post about it
are you sure you weren't samefagging anon? kek
>>
>>9660323
You didn't call me a newfag, I just saw you sperging out on the same level as the anon in the bodyline thread and thought you may be the same person.
>>
>>9660324
I didn't even post in that thread, I just saw you shitposting louder than the people you accused of shitposting and wouldn't put it past you to spread to other threads. Bodyline is for poorfags.
>>
>>9660326
>implying I'm the same anon
seems like you have the samefag mindset already kek
>>
>>9660329
It's very obvious it's you because you keep recycling the same shitty insults. Nobody else is this riled up about samefags either. Your particular brand of autism is very distinct.
>>
>>9660329
>uses the same typing style and liberal use of "kek"
>same claims of having superior knowledge of teh 4chinz ways
>same "you don't need to photoshop to fake caps" argument

>>
>>9660329
You remind me of a shitty ripoff version of HWC but without a catchy gimmick to actually be memorable.

I don't even know why people keep selfposting in these threads, it's like asking to get shat on or get completely ignored. Are you really THAT desperate for attention?

Okie dokie. I think maybe next time instead of staying up to do some XP ebin trawlin on teh 4chunz you need to get to bed early.

Really happy with how they turned out and how secure they are on my arms; albeit 3lbs of plastic on each of my arms.
I'm running out of worbla and time though and im debating nixxing my shoe-armor for now since it's the only thing I haven't prototyped yet and theres only 2 weeks left til youma.
