This is like Misty sky on drugs. I love it.
>>
I honest to god thought this was a taobao print when I first saw it, then I saw the snowflake dress pictures and realized it was AP.
>>
>>9645201
I don't even hate this but I know AP won't make it in a cut that would look good on me.
>>
>>9645235
Oh my God than you so much for telling me, I had no ideA
>>
>>9645235
Let it die
>>
>>9645244
Me too, specially that colorway. Hope it’s not a bloodbath.
>>
Does anyone else ever feel the need to buy dresses in multiple colorways when you really like them? I keep doing this with non print dresses.
>>
>>9645356
I usually only like one colorway but I always want to buy it in different cuts, prints and no prints
>>
>>9645356
I do this too, I hunt down every colorway that I like and I'm not bothered at all by having multiples; it's actually oddly satisfying.
>>
>>9645201
I'm more impressed they managed to find the only telephone box in London not plastered with porn.
>>
>>9645201
I really love this.
>>
>>9645201
This the only photo so far?
>>
>>9645356
I do this if it's a print/non-print I really like and can't decide between colors or it's particularly affordable. Hell, I do this with my normie clothing, if I find a pair of jeans that actually fit properly you bet your ass I'm buying 4 of the same thing as well as other colors.
>>
>>9645356

I do this with prints, lol. I have two AP Mercator long jsks, 4 AP Belle Epoque Rose jsks, and 3 IW Lily Emblem jsk. A lot of times it's simply about the cut being so flattering, I hunt down the other colours so I can at least wear a different colour of a dress that looks darn good on me.

I've collected different colourways of a print in other cuts, but generally I end up selling off the less flattering cuts or colourways after one or two years. Looking for the same cut in different prints doesn't always work either. I'm low-ley hunting True Rose Story special set in other colourways, it looks just like every other AP cut and doesn't seem special, but the waist on that particular cut hits me exactly just right and looks much better than other jsks with a similar cut. I'm not sure whether it's a different pattern or something, it just looks better, and I want more of it.
>>
>>9645356
If I love the dress a lot, yes. I have 11 prints in 2-3 different colorways
>>
Innocent World has really gone to shit lately
>>
>>9645953
I know anons love to harp on AP for looking taobao-y but damn, when I saw that on lolita updates I really did say, 'wow that's some shitty taobao' to myself before I saw it was IW.
>>
>>9645953
It's more the prints that don't seem up to their normal standard. The non prints stuff looks fine.
>>
>>9645953
What >>9645962 said. Still disappointing though, that print is really ugly. I hope Fujiwara steps up her solid game for the winter collection, I really want some new IW in my wardrobe.
>>
>>9645201
Looks like an asda duvet set, don't get me wrong- their sets are nice but it still looks like a duvet cover
>>
What are some burando-tier taobao shops? The ones I hear a lot of good things about are soufflesong and krad lanrete but I don't think they're good enough.
>>
>>9646142
There aren't any, anon. If you want burando quality, just buy burando?
>>
>>9646142
They don't exist. Krad is probably the closest, but they're overhyped and overpriced.
>>

I want to own each cut of Flowercart Embroidery in a different color. It's perfection to me.
>>
>>9646222
I had no problems with this, but it's better to reinforce that on the comment section.
>>
>>9646142
Soufflesong isn't actually good. It's cheap in both price and how it looks.
Krad is pretty good but not up to brand standard. Generally you're going to get what you pay for.
>>
I know it's a bit early for this, but does anyone remember if AP Paris had lucky packs last year and, if so, how fast they sold out?
>>
>>9646142
Souflesong is literal shit, people only buy from there because they're newbies and it's cheap. You're going to have to look at reviews of each piece that comes out, none of the individual stores are consistenly burando quality, but there are specific pieces that are burando quality.
>>
>>9645953
I love the cut, but yeah the print really isn't great.
>>
If lolitas hate high-waisted cuts so much, why don't they wear skirts more often? Skirts are cheaper too
>>
>>9646470
Can't speak for everyone but skirts aren't very flattering on me, nor are they comfortable, compared to OPs and JSKs at least.
>>
>>9646470
Because the people who complain about high waisted cuts are too fat to fit into the skirts. The high waisted cuts they can squeeze into but they look bad so it upsets them. Hence the massive amount of bitching
>>
>>9646477
Or maybe...just maybe...it's personal taste?
>>
>>9646491
Fatty detected
>>
>>9646494

>must be a fatty
You're boring to talk to.
>>
>>9646507
So you don't deny being fat. Looks like I was right
>>
>>9645953
I genuinely thought this was someone's bedsheets handmade. Fuck, IW, get it together.
>>
>>9645953
jesus christ

Really, right after they even release some decent ideas? I really love their new jacquard JSK, the higanbana items despite the print flaws are solid enough, focusing on rereleases like Annette and Astronomical Clock... Just what made them thing this bedsheet-like mess was the next step?
>>
>>9645953
I don't hate it at all as a casual piece, and the pattern is kind of charming. I just wish there was more detail on the hem. The bodice is so cute though.
>>
>>9646142
Elpress L but the prices are burando tier
>>
>>9646491
So you hate high waisted cuts, you hate skirts, it must be really hard for you to be into lolita?
>>
>>9646609
Are they realy? I don't own anything from them, but on pictures they have this really weird cheap wibe. Could you post something in quality thread?
>>
>>9645953
this looks like joanns quilting fabric. wow.
>>
>>9646470
Most people prefer JSKs to skirts. I can relate, skirts are cheap but you have to have your blouse and/or cardigan more on point than you would with a jsk.
>>
>>9646477
Lol stay mad flatty.
>>9646470
I'd definitely wear skirts of some of this year's prints... If AP was releasing them, which they haven't for a lot of releases this year.

>>
>>9646470
I hate high-waisted and I do wear skirts, but nice JSKs are way better to have and easier to coord for a casual look.
>>
>>9646470
Skirts are a fine option, but as the other anon said, they're not always available for a given series, or the style of the skirt is kinda meh in comparison to the JSK/OP. I would've bought ribbon bunny in a heartbeat if they had kept the scalloped edge from the JSK on the skirt.

I have a greater hate for the high waisted cuts that tuck in right under the boobs than I do for the ones that are a straight tent from top to bottom. The former only works if you're a 2x4, but the latter works for more body types.
>>
>>9646760
>uses flatty as an insult when it's best for Lolita to have a smaller busy

WOW how much do you weigh? 180? 200??? you must be huge
>>
>>9646848
I have a smaller bust, like really small, and sometimes OPs with a high cut weird on me unless I swear a padded bra. The poof at the bottom needs a bit of something at the top to look proportional. Waist ties can't sinch me in all the way either.

I look great in the shapeless sack cuts though.
>>
Does anyone have experience with AP not shipping/sending shipping confirmation? I bought an OP that was in stock from them two weeks ago and received an order confirmation, but it hasn't shipped. I've already tried contacting them twice, but no reply. My previous orders with them have shipped in a few days, so I'm at a bit of a loss right now.

>>
Sorry if I've been living under a rock, but what happened to The Floral Notebook? I went to look for her page to get a stock photo of one of the blouses I bought from her a long time ago and I can't find her anywhere on Facebook.

fuuuuuuq same. I'm still kicking myself for not buying the one in navy back when there was a clearance/summer sale (granted, I had lost my job at the time OTL). I hope your dreams come true. I'll be content with the black and navy.
>>
Bodyline is down? Or gone?
>>
>>9646891
have you seen a fat girl in a sack dress? Cause that's reeeeaaalllly not how they work. But you'd know that if you weren't a trolling dude who's only contact with women is on 4 chan dot org.

>>
>>9645953
no one is buying IW except for their re-releases so i doubt they have the finances to make extravagant dresses
>>
>>9646996
aww I love Peachie

anyway sack dresses can look nice on chubby girls too, as long as they are under the max measurements so the dress stays flowy and free looking.
I feel like they can work well with short busty girls.
high waist like pic related however looks best on a more manageable bust.
>>
>>9647030

>>

>>9647043
huh that dress is actually really cute on her! I was too quick to overgeneralize.
>>
>>9647043
I need this dress after seeing this picture
>>
>>9647043
It makes her look fatter than she actually is, which is already fat.

I'm not saying she's ita but she doesn't look good in it. I wouldn't use it as an example that fatty-chans look good in sack cuts
>>
>>9647049
uh that is not an example of a fatty looking okay in a sack dress
>>
>>9647049
Honestly I think this looks pretty bad and unflattering on her. It doesn't help that I can't see her legs so the image looks awkwardly proportioned. I think >>9647043 works because there is a seam at the underbust so the fabric doesn't just hang off her chest, or maybe it is just because her bust is smaller like you said. This reminds me too much of pajamas or a muumuu. I think even a loose chain around her waist might help.
>>
>>9646891
I'm 95 lbs, anon... Why would I hide my body?
>>
>>9647110
I'm your weight and I hide my body out of a combination of crippling hatred towards my figure and modesty. Surely other people can come up with different reasons too but those are a few examples
>>
>>9646609
>>9646620

nayrt, and don't own stuff from them.

A comm member bought a wedding lolita dress off them, though (not for her actual wedding, she invited the lolita comm to a seperate wedding lolita tea party). She had a lot to complain about, mainly the fabric and material was pretty good, but the insides were apparently unlined and it made some parts of the dress uncomfortable. She said a few times that she wished she'd been able to buy actual burando wedding dress instead of Elpress. This is a girl who does own other burando stuff and taobao, so I believe her when she says Elpress is pretty but isn't up to burando-tier.
>>
>>9646142
>>9646236
I like Soufflesong and at least the dresses I have are pretty sturdy and I can just throw them into the washing machine.
But compared to the stuff I have from the larger Japanese brands, it's very easy to notice that the material feels cheaper and there are more loose threads and stuff. In general I wouldn't expect the same quality from Taobao brands as from the Japanese brands unless maybe the price really is the same.
>>
>>9646841
What is that, 2x4?
>>9647069
Glad i'm not the only one who thought so lol
>>
>>9646993
I hope so
>>
>>9646996
It can hide curves very well and make people look slimmer than they are if they got the right curves that need to be hidden.
>>
>>9647154
Not really, it just makes them into a shapeless blob. Considering most fat people show their weight in their face I would argue it makes them look even fatter to not have a defined figure
>>
>>9647148
It means someone is a plank, flat all around with no defining curves.
>>
>>9647168
I've heard it used as "fatty fatty 2x4 can't fit through the kitchen door" before. I always assumed it was calling someone short and fat
>>
Why has taobao become so popular? I have bought a few taobao dresses secondhand now and both are absolute shit. One is constructed terribly and the other is the cheapest shit fabric I have ever seen and poor construction too. These sold for around $100 new and I just can't imagine spending this much on something so bad...
I mean brand isn't exactly the epitome of high quality but it's at least wearable.
>>
>>9647049
i'm sorry if you think this looks okay...
>>
>>9647172
Taobao has more creative designs and not all of them are poor quality.
>>
>>9646142
I like the one Surface Spell dress I own.

>>9646222
Literally never had a problem with this. They ship to the address you provide them with.
>>
>>9647172
It's relatively cheap and comes in custom (fat) sizes. Many people would rather spend $100 on something that's not worth $100 than $200 on something that is worth the price, simply because they think paying less = better deal.

>>9647183
Let's be honest though, the overwhelming majority is mediocre quality at best.
>>
>>9647049
>looking okay
She looks pregnant with quadruplets.

Do Diamond Honey dresses have tags? I got one through (what I was thought was) an aliexpress reseller but there are no tags on the dress whatsoever. Surely there aren't DH knockoffs, are there?
>>
>>9647172
Coslitas love it, some people don't want to participate in the secondhand burando market, and for some reason a lot of people keep recommending taobao and bodyline to new people.

>>9647183
The fact is people with any experience with lolita can usually immediately tell you're wearing taobao, and not because it looks so nice.
>>
>>9647345
They indeed have tags. Maybe the reseller removed them? I don't think there would be diamond honey knockoffs but who knows.
>>
Where can I find good pink tea party shoes that aren't bright pink?

I saw street fashion europe is searching for new members. Does anyone here know more about this? What is it like to work for street fashion europe? I want to apply but I'm not sure because of work and I'm still studying.

How long have you waited for feedback from a buyer on LM?

It's been over a month since I sold something. When I got confirmation from the buyer, I immediately left feedback. Buyer hasn't done the same for me.
>>
>>9647465
Just message them saying "Hey, I left you feedback a while ago. Do you mind doing the same?" My work life is so hectic and weird that I often forget to leave feedback until reminded. I know I'm the worst kind of person, but I am always happy to do it if someone asks to remind me.

>>
>>9647043
I actually like how sack dresses look but I have D cups and it makes me steer away from them. They'd probably look fine from the front in pictures but I assume they would look stupid from the side...
>>
>>9647465
I never leave feedback unless there was something wrong or if everything went the way I wanted it to go. People have messages me asking for feedback. I give 0 fucks.
>>
>>9647486
>unless there was something wrong
>if everything went the way I wanted it to go

Doesn't each of these imply the other? Also, you're slightly fucking over people who want to participate in the secret santa.
>>
>>9647489
No, something hardly ever goes wrong, and hardly any seller let's me pay with Google wallet. I've never been in a secret santa thread so I have no idea what you mean.
>>
>>9647490
That's so strange. It's safer for the seller for you to pay with Google wallet, why wouldn't they take it?
>>
>>9647492
Because they are brainwashed by PayPal? They are scared of using something the majority isn't using? I have no idea
>>
>>9647490
Why do you use google wallet, is it more convenient? It might just be because the seller doesn't know what it is; I've personally never heard of anyone using that before.
Secret santa participation requires having buyer feedback.
>>
>>9646142
Some brand dresses aren't that great. I think Elpress L has some amazing quality pieces. I have dresses from long ears sharp ears and Funccino that I think are very good quality.

>>9646145
>>9646146
you both sound like you dont own a lot of taobao. quality varies.
>>
>>9647465

As a seller I usually don't leave feedback until the buyer does (and quite often there are sales where I send the parcels out and never hear from them again. ) imo the transaction is completed once the buyer receives and verifies things are okay and that they're happy with the transaction. So I wait for the buyer to leave feedback first (and when I buy I also leave feedback first, then message the seller to remind them to leave feedback for me).

Never had someone message to say the parcel arrived but doesn't also mention they left feedback for you. If they're new, maybe they're clueless and need someone to direct them how to leave feedback? Otherwise I have no idea, maybe they forgot.

>>
>>9647599

Just sounds like a bad translation of feminine or cute to me. "Otome" is literally girl for example, even if that isn't really used as a fashion name anymore. As for the dresses themselves 'm biased against sheer materials and I know it, but that looks borderline ita/straight up ita to me. The second one would be really cute as a nightgown though especially as maternity.
>>
>>9647599
I don't think it's that bad. The sash is removable for when you have the baby bump and the buttons open for breast feeding. I'm not expecting a lot materials-wise, but I like the idea.
>>
Opinions on chocomint petticoats? I'm looking for something which is no longer than 40 cm and has moderate volume (good for casual wear) and these seem to fit the bill. I've never really seen them mentioned though.
Alternatively, can you recommend a different brand/seller? Preferably eurofag friendly.

We've just discussed this not too long ago.
https://warosu.org/cgl/thread/S9597507#p9617197

How is this after a single gentle wash good quality? Instead of claiming anon is only picking out the worst why not list an actual good quality brand? From what you're saying it should be incredibly easy to list several off the top of your head.
>>
>>9647710
taobao has literally a hundred brands, they dont all have the same quality. posting one image of a shitty dress doesnt mean all taobao dresses are bad. Multiple brands have been mentioned in this thread >>9647698 >>9647504 as saying they had good experiences. I am wearing a Cat's Broom dress right now, and while it's not AMAZING, the fabric quality is nice, tailoring is well done, lined, and good for a casual lolita dress at work. I paid $62 for it. It's fine.
>>
>>9647710
idk anon, it's possible that this just wasn't washed correctly or that this needs to be dry cleaned. lots of burando needs to be dry cleaned or treated really gently so that it doesn't bleed or fade. not the best example to argue for quality.
>>
>>9647710
I NEVER put any of my lolita clothes in the washing machine, so IDK maybe dont try to ruin your clothes?

So you didn't actually read the thread. It's not my picture I'm posting. Personally I've got a Yolanda jsk and it was fairly nice. Something that anon also mentions. This pic is literally straight out of the bag. I'll post parts of the other reviews since it's a such a chore apparently.

>"I’ve washed many burando dresses (some of my burando are worn every week and then I put them in the washing machine in a laundry bag. Same thing I did for this dress). I’ve seen dye run, but this is the first time I’m dealing with washing causing the print itself to disappear, leaving behind a dress with white spots. And the whole thing is so delicate, no wonder girls stop washing their dresses altogether."

>Krad loses everything else, though. Their fabric is thinner, flimsier, and downright shiny. JetJ fabric is a nice fake shantung. Not actually high-end luxury shantung, but it does a good job or pretending to be good enough. Krad's fabric... I don't know, maybe this release is just terribad. Someone else should do a burando-taobao comparison of their other releases, because like I said, this Krad dress is downright thin, flimsy and shiny.

>Considering it was surface printed, that is. I find with a lot of taobao pieces you need to keep one or two facts floating at the top of your mind, and then you can actually say “considering this was made with an inferior method to begin with, it aged wonderfully well”. Then somehow when reviewing burando the taobaolitas will also say “considering this was $300 and wasn’t presented to me on a silver platter I’m going to rate it lower than the taobao dress because considering the taobao dress was inferior to begin with the taobao dress aged very well."
>>
>>9647710
>name a brand
I literally did.
>>9647753
The OP was saying that the construction and fabric were shit, nothing about the printing.
Of course the printing is dodgy, I guess that's just what happens with surface printing, but nobody said anything about printing until you brought it up. What I said though was that the taobao dress I own doesn't have the shit construction or fabric that OP's dresses apparently have. Like I said, it isn't brand quality but it's not the garbage people like to make it out to be.
>>
>>9647753
>so you didn't actually read the thread
no anon, i was one of the active posters in that thread. but my post about dry cleaning still stands. it's possible that OP just washed it wrong.
>>
Who else is a depressed lolita?
>tfw doesn't even get joy out of looking at dresses/getting package

>lost my job anyway so the next months will be hard, no lolita purchases allowed
Maybe I should use my waist ties for another purpose.
>>
>>9647761
You weren't the only anon I was quoting. Also brands, not a single brand. Saying it must be a one off heavily implies the vast majority are much better. As you said there's plenty of brands so how does you listing a single named example override another single example. I've never said taobao is horrible or not worth buying, it's a response to acting like taobao as a whole will give you good quality unless you have no idea what you're doing.

>>9647762
She stated her other dresses haven't had that problem. The picture I linked had the exact problem simply from being shipped. Regardless if she did or didn't that means that particular item is lesser quality if other items made of the same material fared much better. That also negate inferior materials.
>>
>>9647502
I've had a bad experience with PayPal and the company I work for did as well. I buy from sellers I know are not scammers so I'm not worried and I'd prefer any payment method over supporting paypal. They are more expensive than other payment methods in my country too. It doesn't stop me from using it when I want something though.
>>
>>9647767
>Maybe I should use my waist ties for another purpose.
I'm sorry but I laughed. Hang in there anon it won't be bad forever
>>
>>9647767
Sadly, same. I live from parcel to parcel, thinking I shouldn't off myself while I have things coming in the mail because my family would be doubly sad to get things that are addressed to me after I'm dead. I do like the brand that I buy but it feels like the only thing that's keeping me going.
But hey could have been worse, I guess.
Not exactly comforting but I'm sorry you're in the same pit. Depression is terrible.

Anon who posted most of the taobao in the other thread. I do just want to say the Mozarabic Chant jsk was only worn twice and dry-cleaned both times. Pretty sure that dress never saw the inside of a washing machine but there’s still white flecks appearing across the bodice. It is however a dress that dates from an age where taobao brands up front said they weren’t as good as burando, and to treat their dresses delicately. So I wouldn’t say definitively whether dry-cleaning can save your taobao prints.

Additionally, for your other point about burando needing dry-cleaning, I did also post a btssb dress that was dry-clean only, but was put in the washing machine more than a few times. Actually I guess I treated the burando dress way more harshly, wore it more often, washed it incorrectly, I’m not sure how it’s not a wreck, but it not only survived, it looks to be in better condition than the newer taobao dresses that I treated far more carefully.

I’m not bashing on taobao btw. You can tell from how many dresses I posted how much taobao I own, and I just got in Princutess’ whale dress, which I got a lot of compliments on. Like I said, I just want gulls to buy them with their eyes wide open. They’re still very pretty, and even with a shorter lifespan I think they’re still worth buying.

By the way, for anons who missed the thread, it’s archived here

Hey gulls, sorry if this is in the wrong thread. Does anyone know if Japanese banks have buyer protection?
My friend doesn't have paypal or a debit/credit card (only cash) and really wanted to order something off fril through FromJapan. I ordered it for her with my PayPal, and per her request used the basic forwarding plan.
Well, the seller turned out to be a scammer and never sent the item. FromJapan said yahoo auctions has no buyer protection, and won't reply after I asked if their bank has protection.
Can't file a PayPal claim because of the basic forwarding plan.

Friend is now demanding I refund her or she'll tell everyone I'm a scammer and "notify the police."
I'm worried FromJapan might just be taking the money and keeping it because of the basic forwarding and my "friend" will ruin my rep, since she's far more well known than me.
>>
>>9647897
I'd give her the money to save your rep but dump her as a friend, it's her fault. What a cunt.
>>
>>9647897
Your friend is a huge fucking cunt wow.
If you wanna avoid any drama just give her money but god...keep screencaps. Of the whole ordeal with FJ and her convos.
I might not be popular in the slightest but i'm capping shit and i'm not affraid to use it. Ruined the rep of a girl who tried to ruin mine like that.
>>
>>9647899
>>9647910
Thanks for the advice, it blows to have to give her the couple hundred for something that I had no control over, but I don't think it's worth the drama since we're in the same comm too. Keeping all the screenshots as a just in case, though.
>>
>>9646741
Brands tend to make their skirts in small waist sizes; JSK's are usually larger.
>>
>>9647710
Ah, so you're one of those printfags that have no idea there are dresses besides printed ones, gotcha.
There's been plenty of brands listed, Dear Celine, Elpress, Lost Tree etc, and every time burandofags either ignore it or pick out a singular bad dress from the brand and call it all shit, completely disregarding that your precious burando puts out duds all the time.
>>
>>9647897
Why can't you file the paypal claim? Unless it literally will not let you file it on paypal, you should file the claim anyways. Paypal will definitely refund you.

Also, your friend is a cunt and I wouldn't give her anything. you were doing her a favor, and it's not your fault. If she wants to call you a scammer, post your side of the story and all the caps on public, including the parts where she's being a massive bitch. Screencaps show everything, and it'll show people how batshit she is.
>>
>>9647897
Yahoo Auctions does have buyer protection
>>
>>9647914

Give her the money so you're in the clear, then post caps. No just in case.
>>
I got a package from AP today and the ring arrived broken. It's the new bat ring. Is there anything I can do?

I'm so sad. The ring is sold out online in this color. The break is a bit chunky too so gluing will be a pain.

Has anyone gone through this before? Wondering what my options are and if I should yell at AP or Tenso. (Tenso did not repackage, and AP had it in a shopping bag with a thin layer of bubble wrap which did nothing.)
>>
>>9647996

Yelling at AP will get you nowhere. They don't care. :(
>>
>>9647996
That's weird, tenso almost always repackages for me because international shipping "requires" it. At least that's what they told me. Did you buy just the ring and that's it? I think you should complain to tenso as they know better. I doubt you can get anything from the post office insurance wise, but if you're in not the US, you might have better luck.
>>
>>9647950
I didn't file a claim because I kind of assumed they would side with FromJapan due to their "we won't refund anything even if you don't get the package if you do the basic plan" policy. Thinking about it though, it doesn't hurt to file a claim. Though I am pretty salty since FJ was my main SS and I always used their better plan for myself, now I'll probably be blacklisted.

>>9647956
FJ for whatever reason told me they don't and I'm not sure Y!a will help me since I'm not the direct buyer, but thanks for letting me know
>>
Do any of you gulls know when chateau de nounours should be shipped?
>>
Hey in ur experience, how long after you pay an IW invoice do they take to ship it out?
>>
>>9648054
From last thread when someone asked:

>I ordered a pair of bloomers not too long ago. Took under three weeks from the submitted invoice to actually receiving the item. Excellent communication and the item came in pristine condition. IW is extremely reliable.

>Congrats! IW is great, you'll love their stuff. For me it generally takes a 5-7 days from when I pay the invoice, sometimes a little longer if it's in the midst of a sale. I'd keep an eye out for it though even if you don't recieve a shipping notification or tracking number, about half the time I order from them they send me that info out after it's arrived.

My experience is the same as second reply, sometimes they send me the shipping info far too late, so just keep an eye out.
>>
>>9647897
Show her the emails? If you are in the same comm, bring your laptop or smartphone to the next meet and show her everything that happened. Do not refund her. You were literally acting as SS for her/helping her out for free. It's not your fault this happened. Definitely file a PP claim too.

If she tries to talk shit, defend the crap out of yourself. Post all the proof.

>>9648085

It's been over two months since I bought my dream dress on LM, and I still haven't received it.

I took a risk on a seller with 0 feedback because it was an old account, she called herself an "elder lolita" and her livejournal link was good. After a little while, I tracked down her facebook and messaged her. She said that she had real life stress, and she'd send it out that Saturday (Sept 9). Since then, there's been no communication, and the package still hasn't arrived. She hasn't read any of my messages, either on FB or LM since 9/8. What should I do?

I'm posting this question here because the help thread couldn't provide any:

Does anyone know if the mini mini Usakumya backpack can be worn by the Usakumya pochette? Or does it just fit the Usakumya rucksack?
>>
>>9648211

Whoops, saw that in the help thread and was gonna try it out, but I forgot.

Can you post the original photo you saw? I'm assuming you're talking about putting the super dollfie-sized mini-mini rucksack onto the medium-sized bag (the one with shoulder straps)? There's another kumakumya mini-mini that doesn't have shoulder straps.
>>
>>9647897
Update if anyone cares: fromjapan said all they could do was send a letter to the seller if I pay 800 yen, filed PP claim which I'm sure just got me blacklisted from FJ, made plans to meetup with friend to show her proof the emails and claim, I also checked y!a buyer protection and it looks like they don't want to get involved with stuff and would rather the buyer and seller work it out themself.
>>
>>9648425
I care anon, please let us know how the claim goes and if your friend turns out to be less of a cunt than she's been so far.
>>
>>9648425
Never trust anyone who doesn't have a credit/debit card. I'm sorry if they're underage and can't have an account or whatever, but they could buy a prepaid visa debit or whatever. Uhh, would pic related help? Yeah it's the mini mini rucksack. Does getting your stuff favorited on lacemarket generally mean someone's going to buy them at some point?
>>
>>9648425
Even if fromjapan says they won't refund you, afaik using paypal means they need to abide by PP TOS which I'm pretty sure state that non receipt of goods = you get refunded if you escalate to a claim. There's no clause in there that states that paypal will side with them just because the seller decides their own personal terms of service include not refunding you.
>>
>>9648601
No. It means they watch it until you drop the price to the point where it's not worth selling anymore.
>>
>>9648510
It's too early; it's a Dec / Jan event, so first they are doing their halloween tea party this Oct and then they'll sell tickets for the big-big tea party.
>>
>>9648601
It means they might buy it in 2 years time
>>
>>9648601

Some of them are looking to sell their own and want to see what yours sells for. They aren't all lowballers waiting 2 years for you to drop the price to nothing..... but yea, basically getting favorited doesn't always lead to sales.
>>
>>9648601
I favorite if I think it's too high. It's a good sign of how many people are interested though. Sometimes if you lower it enough, you can get someone to bid on it.

Though I wish LM notified people with it in their favorites that someone bid, so if one of those people also wanted it, they could actually bid against each other. I hate finding out someone bought an item I wanted and favorited, but was just saving til later (I feel guilty buying too much at once and I hope that the seller will list other items I'm interested in so I could buy them at the same time).

This is a little bit of an embarrassing question but how do I wear lolita in the rain?

I live in a literal desert where we typically get less than a foot of rain a year.
However, my boyfriend and I are going to Florida this week and I want to wear lolita.
Will the rain deflate my petti?
Should I worry about colors running?
Is it easier to wear a wig or risk my natural hair getting weird from humidity?

What are some things I need to look out for?
I also don't own an umbrella, so we will probably try to get one there.
>>
>>9648601
I've been favouriting some things I like and would like to buy but my feedback is practically nonexistent and I worry that people won't want to sell to someone with 0 feedback, so I'm going to buy some smaller things first. Is this annoying? Should I save things to my Pinterest instead so I don't give people false hope?

>Will the rain deflate my petti?
Absolutely not
>Should I worry about colors running?
I guess you should avoid wearing old baby/aatp with bright reds and blues in prints. Otherwise you'll be fine.
>Is it easier to wear a wig or risk my natural hair getting weird from humidity?
Wigs are safer in the rain, yes. I myself wear wigs or at least clip-on bangs and a hat if I am going out in a humid weather and want to stay pretty.
But this generally depends on the type of your hair. If your hair is straight and silky and you do not have to style it every morning, you may be fine without wigs.
>What are some things I need to look out for?
Waterproof shoes and keeping your feet dry. Better do not wear suede or fabric shoes if there is a high chance of rain.

Get yourself a good umbrella and it will solve most of your problems. Check weather forecast before leaving the house. If it rains heavy all day and you have to be outside much, have an extra pair of socks or tights with you in case your feet get wet.
I do not know how much it rains in Florida though.

How reliable is Wunderwelt's condition rating? Seems like some of the items look mildly worn at worst in the photos, but then they're rated as a D with major damage. Are they oversensitive or are the photos just misleading? I've been mostly looking at accessories, if that helps.

The "protected" plan isn't much better. I received an obvious replica that even a non lolita would be able to tell if was clearly way different than the photo of the listing. From Japan didn't do shit when I told them, they replied borderline rudely and then stopped replying.

Never using them again. Had a friend also receive a dress missing the headbow it was supposed to come with, FJ just said their employees "remember it being in the package" and didn't do shit again, under their "protected" plan.

I often favorite things when I want them but can't yet afford them. It has taken a few months on some items for me to have the funds to purchase..

And sometimes I favorite a few similar items when I'm trying to decide between them. Like blouses for instance.
>>
>>9648646
It doesn't bother me if my items get favorited but not purchased right away. I do prefer buyers who have at least 2 positive feedback before selling them an item over $80. But I've sold less expensive things to new buyers. I even sometimes add in small extras for those who seem like noobs to the fashion.

My advice is to buy a pair of burando socks and another small item. Give the seller feedback as soon as your things arrive. And then set your sites on something bigger once you recieve your feedback.

no. some women actually hold fat disproportionately in certain areas like hips, buttocks, and thighs, according to their genes, and this fat is not easily lost/is the last to go because the body codes to keep it for reproductive benefits. lolita hides this area and so flatters pear and hourglass shapes.

If there is anything that annoys me it's that 50% of the gothic tag on LM are items that are obviously not gothic, and that 50% of the ouji tag is obviously not ouji. I'm not talking about bordeaux IW that borders between goth and classic depending on how you coord, I'm talking about AP unicorn bags. And in the ouji/aristocrat tag, your BtSSB skirt is not in any way ouji/aristocrat

Is it possible to order from Atelier Boz and just ship it using Tenso? I've ordered from AP before, but it seems the only options for payment on the site are bank transfer or cash on delivery. Does this mean I need a SS?

The question is, why do you consider this person a friend? She is treating you like shit even though you did her a favor and are trying your best. If she continues being your "friend" after this, it's only because she got her way this time. It's a matter of time before another incident sets off a meltdown and you get blamed. You're there for convenience.

For those of you that own dresses that use lace as the holder for ribbon ties, how do you reinforce it so that it doesn't stretch/break? Do you just keep the ribbons loose or remove them? Or is there a better alternative?

It has never stretched or broken for me, I had never even considered that it could

Idk if this is the right board, but has anyone attended AP San Fransico's halloween party before? I'm thinking of attending this year, but have never attended.

What's with Taobao-chans lately crying how Taobao is totally as good as brand? I still remeber when people used to whine about Bodyline being as good as brand so is this just because Bodyline is pretty much dead now and they need a new source for their shit? Most of Taobao looks pretty cheap and is comparable to fast fashion - it's only meant to last till the trends change. I don't care what people buy and wear but one could atleast aknowledge the facts. And before the angry Taobao anon comes raging at me, yes I have owned several Taobao dresses and none of them can ever top brand. Designs, materials and construction are not comparable and while the price might be low brand will last years and most of the dresses I have had wouldn't survive that much of wear. I have had Surface Spell, Yolanda, Dear Celine, Infanta and Pumpkin Cat and all of them had the same feel: not made to last.
>>
>>9650214
There've always been people claiming taobao is as good as brand, now people are pushing them more for proof
>>
>>9650214
Somewhat related, I hate when people compare the quality of new taobao to a 10 year old dress, as if their taobao dress won't have fallen apart 10 years from now.
>>
I have a cutsew OP from IW that I love for casual wear and I'm desperate to find others. I've come across some on mercari and yahoo auctions, but I'm concerned about how they'll fit in the arms/sleeves. Are IW's cutsew OPs fairly consistent in sizing? I'd hate to get something that's too small.
>>
>>9650214
Only merit that taobao has is some interesting prints and designs. I guess there can be some hidden gems in term of quality, but in most cases you can see the cheapness even in photos.
>>
has anyone been to any Harajuku-Day events?
>>
>>9650214
because new brand is shit quality and not made to last either
>>
>>9650253
Like what? Your AP dress? Can I see pictures of it?
>>
>>9650214
I love taobao, but I would never claim it as anything near brand quality. I find myself more attracted to getting multiple cute taobao dresses over the shit AP has been pushing out lately, though.
>>
>>9650261
ahh and the upset burandofags strike once again!
If you seriously think that the bullshit AP is putting out now is even near the quality of the stuff they put out in 2008, you're deluding yourself.
>>
>>9650266
I don't know since I don't buy AP, I just want to see what recent brand you are comparing your taobao to.
>>
>>9650214
Of course taobao isn't as good as brand, but it's not complete and utter shit
The only reason taobao-chans lose their minds is because everyone keeps saying taobao is horrible garbage when it isn't
>>
>>9650214
a handful of taobao brands are great quality, to the point that I think of them as Chinese Indie.
basically the older ones like
>Dear Celine
>Pumpkin Cat
>Boguta
>69th Dept
>Amastacia
>surface spell
are small brands who actually know their stuff and release semi-annually designs that they work on/quality check for a while until good enough for production.
They're serious and have been around long enough to have good, established relationships with reputable factories, unless the rare case in which the pieces are made in-house by them.
Some newer ones I've found to be okay are:
>Angels Heart
>Diamond Honey
>Yolanda
>Strawberry Witch
Miss Point is good but kind of basic, and Rose Melody is older and good quality, but the designs are often meh/limited skill.

Taobao is just a platform, like a lovechild of Amazon&Etsy. It's easy to hop onto though and we've historically had issues with shitty replica "brands" like Dream of Lolita etc.
These days we have a dime-a-dozen opportunist brands creating Photoshop illustrations of "prints" to woo the inexperienced--these get printed in bulk for cheap on crappy polyester chiffon by some random contract factory and then shipped out for much more than their worth.

I really liked pic related, for example, but was skeptical of the IRL product. searched for worn photos and confirmed it for crap skirt shape, not enough petti room, and bad execution of front bustle (mediocre fabric choice makes terrible-looking ruffles) bodice also looks unlined and not reinforced for shape maintenance.
I still see this colourway and get hype but then remember it won't actually look or feel nice when worn and wisely pass.
>>
>>9650330
Thanks for actually making a helpful post. Most people just claim taobao is as good as brand without any proof or derail the convo to the declining quality of AP. I've never bought anything from taobao because honestly, it already looks cheap in the pictures but I always wondered if I just wasn't looking at the right brands or being biased because it's from China.
>>
>>9650266
I'm pretty sure I have good enough variety of AP dresses to be able to compare and there isn't that big decrease on the quality imo. Maybe older AP had more smaller details but creating new, modern prints isn't cheap either so I would say they just focus on different details nowadays. AP dresses around 2005 aren't anything spectacular when it comes to quality and honestly the construction quality hasn't changed that much after that. Seriously, Melty Berry Princess' construction is identical to Magical Etoile's or Sheep Garden's. How the fabric and other materials will stand time is another question but we can't answer it yet. My newer AP items aren't really comparable as the fabric is totally different in those. I have over 40 dresses from 2002-2016 so I would say I have something to base this on. Also, I'm the original anon so I have also experience from several Taobao brands.

I bought an AP bag for really cheap on mercari but it turned out to be more damaged than I had imagined. I knew the paint was flaking on the handle so I ordered some angelus leather paint in the matching colour, that's no problem.
But the handle itself is threatening to snap right off, it's foam inside so I don't think I can use e6000 to glue it (apparently that glue eats foam)

>does anyone know a good glue for this? two photos because two straps have this damage
>>
>>9650330
So diamond honey isn't a bad option for everyday dresses?
>>
>>9650345
Could you remove and replace the handle? You've got paint already, right?
>>
>>9650353
You can toss them in the wash and it'll be fine, and they're cheap and durable enough to not worry about.

>>
>>9650370
I wasn't sure how the handles were attached, sometimes they're attached via d-rings and its fairly easy just to cut off the damaged strap and replace it. Good luck trying to repair the damage.

if they were via Dring I'd have probably replaced with a nice ribbon and chain, I guess I'll keep researching glues!

I'm a noob and was gifted this anna house skirt in black. I think all the details look cute on the blue/pink versions, but it seems to be way too much for the black... I was thinking of possible removing some of the trims, I'm fairly good at sewing and altering clothing, but I was curious to hear more experienced lolita's opinions on this before doing something and regretting it later since I'm a nooblita.
>>
>>9650447

So this just recently popped up on LM with a BID of $450 and a BIN of $550. But the white version has sold for around $250. Thoughts? I love this dress but idk about that price.
>>
>>9650634

White is usually the least popular colourway -- it looks like bridalwear, shows dirt easily and there's a subset of girls whose skintones look terrible in all-white. It's usually the slower colourway for Moitie dresses to sell out in, and sometimes AP sales will go up with the black colourway completely sold out while the white is abundantly in stock. So the white colourway is not really a good comparison for how much the black should go for.

Personally I wouldn't pay more than the retail price for a secondhand dress, this one retailed pretty close to $400. I guess it boils down to how badly you want the dress, though.
>>
>>9650330
forgot to mention CEL, which is solid, and Dark Box is also wonderful. great quality gothic.
>>9650336
you're so welcome.

training your eye by racking up experience with different brand mains and materials helps before looking on taobao. pair that with honest reviews and then it's a breeze finding the good stuff.

I have this problem with AatP and Baby in general, where their JSKs are several inches too big if I don't tighten the ribbon but tightening the ribbon too much puts strain on the lace, which is too flimsy for that. My "solution" is to just wear it very loose and use waist ties instead. The bodice still gaps, though, which is weird and uncomfortable. I've been thinking about sewing more sturdy ribbon loops in under the lace and using them as the real loops but the only way to make that sturdy (I think) is to sew them into the seam, which would mean undoing the seams, which I'd like to avoid. Or maybe I should just eat cake until my waist is 70+cm because that's what AatP/Baby seems to prefer in a customer.
>>
>>9650692
>thinking lolita is supposed to be a tight-fitting fashion
>>
>>9650214
Try saying that in my comm, you'll get five secrets and then you'll be banned for being a bully. Even if your closet is 50% Taobao. Infanta is BETTER than brand and if you don't agree you're a bitter brandwhore who hates Chinese people! That's racist!

>>9650253
Which brands? I've heard AatP is declining but I can't speak for that because they're not my jam. I'm an IWfag and they're as great as ever.
>>9650266
I'm not into AP at all and don't like the direction they're taking, but their designs not being to your taste doesn't make them lower quality.

I don't need to it be tight-fitting, but pic related is so loose in the waist I could wrap several ferrets around my waist and smuggle them into meetups with my comm being none the wiser. You can also look down the back and see the top of my petti's waistband. That's too loose.
>>
>>9650703
I think baby is more liked by the older crowds compared to AP, and that could factor into why their sizes are bigger as well. Wear a bolero instead then or something. Skinny Japanese girls make it work.
>>
>>9649950
I'm actually working on a alteration commission right now on three different BTSSB/AATP dresses with this issue. I'm gonna seam rip and add rouleau loops underneath the existing lace. I figure it'll be more durable and not be distracting.
>>
>>9650330

I want to believe you, but cmloli (Strawberry Witch in your list) has a rep for being pretty much pandering to coslolis at one point. And Boguta used to be on the same level as Dream of Lolita with bad fabric choices, odd construction and all.

They might have improved, I suppose, but seeing them in your list I guess it brings home that taobao really is like the new Bodyline, buyer really needs to do their homework on what they're actually buying. Heck, I've got a blouse from Dear Celine that's made from some uncomfortable plasticky material, a dress from Yolanda made from paper-thin quilting fabric, and these are brands which I think are much better than other indies brands.
>>
>>9650439
The only cobbler in town wont even glue a platform back on, which is stupid easy. Just looking for glue recommendations.
>>
Nooblita question. Do any brands (apart from, say ETC) currently tend to release dresses that are about 85cm long? Nearly everything I've seen that's come out recently is about 90cm long, and since I'm really short that length just tends to look dumpy on me. I have two Meta jsks and I look like I'm drowning in fabric unfortunately, so any recommendations for brands or specific dresses even would be welcome.
>>
>>9650703
i love ferrets so I'll ignore everything else
>>
>>9650716

>>
>>9650715
The current trend is for longer hemlines. Most brands were releasing dresses about the length you want more often than now just a few years ago. They still are today, it just varies from release to release and isn’t the default anymore.

So basically almost every brand will have stuff the length you want, and the selection will be bigger the farther back you go. Unless we know what you like though (sweet, gothic, classic) we can’t point you toward a particular era though.
>>
>>9650703
Honestly if it's that loose you're going to need to alter or sell it. Unfortunately altering any lolita is going to be around 200-350 usd and they can only take very little in. They also won't do it unless it's plain or has a plain repeating pattern because they can't without ruining print and they don't want people demanding money back. Or you could keep it and display it I guess. Or turn it into a skirt if you're that desperate.

>>9650704
If it's that big she won't be any better than a fattychan forcing themselves into a dress way too small for them. Why is this opinion so common on cgl when it looks so sloppy? It turns even the most elegant dresses into something very costumey. Is just because people get triggered about anons having the opposite problem of them fit wise? Besides that lolita IS the "fat girl fashion" and their models have special one offs/have it altered/pinned back. Aside from people getting paid to make it look good I haven't seen any tiny Japanese girls pull off things 2-5 inches bigger than them. A cardigan doesn't help it anymore than hiding buttons popping off. The underlying problem is still obvious.

Or more likely I suppose is that anons saying this are only into lolita and have absolutely zero knowledge of fashion in general.
>>
>>9650710
Didn't Boguta also use stock images from Japanese brands for their own listings? I remember someone in my comm fawning over this shop and then going to check it out, only to see a bunch of images from Mary Magdalene with their own logo slapped on top.
>>
>>9650695
I love new AP designs actually, but they're objectively lower quality. Fabric isn't as nice, lace is cheaper, construction flaws, lack of built in pettis, etc. There was even that anon who had rips in her lining.
>>
>>9650755
>lace is cheaper, construction flaws
Can I see this? I prefer the new, lighter fabrics myself
>>
>>9650715
Not nowadays i think, but look for old school dresses (AP,Baby,...) since they're often shorter.
Also, even though it's not brand, you might have luck with taobao brands that have custom sizes made to fit you just right
>>
>>9650468
I think it's a perfectly fine skirt, especially for a summery country or old school coord.
I wouldn't change anything about it.
not to gatekeep but if you're shy about details like this you might want to try a different girly jfash
