Honestly? It sort of looks like hot garbage. It doesn't capture the enchanted but less strict on the rules charm that old school often does. This just looks like something else entirely.

I agree that the west can get to caught up in the rules but this is just like a really shitty knockoff that misses the point of the original

>>
>Do you also still think otome kei and kodona are real, current styles?

How does that relate to anything I said in my post?

Its okay as a style on its own, but naming it neo Lolita when it doesn't have the same feel or structure as Lolita was a mistake.

Sorta cute but bad name, unless it's aiming for the other kind it's not anymore lolita than half the dresses in hot topic or on taobao. Most of the examples anons post don't seem to be wearing any lolita items at all unlike unlike Daily Ala Mode. Imo even "soft lolita" would've fit better instead. It gives the feeling of "almost lolita" instead of trying to be "new lolita." But it's not like what anyone says on cgl will change that. "No rules" lolita and lolita inspired is whole other thing, but since it's allowed I'll spam the thread with that instead.
>>
>>9647561
I didn't say it looks like otome. There are two different people saying it doesn't live up to its name.

My fault for not being clear enough. As I said "most of the examples anons post" as in all the threads we've had on cgl about it.

Even ignoring that though besides the ops and Jsks in the first two examples all I see is an Innocent World(?) blouse. The last two are most definitely not lolita dresses and 3rd last is very questionable. I don't consider things like socks, shoes, or accessories other than oldschool headdresses to be lolita specific to be clear.

The theme that you should be getting from these pics is literally all but this >>9647603 are wearing at least one main lolita item from an official lolita brand. They're also nearly all from brands themselves or experienced and well known lolitas.

If you can't even tell the difference between larme/general girly j-fashion and lolita you're nowhere near being able to bend the rules and have a decent even vaguely lolita coord. That's the entire reason they exist in the first place. So you figure out what lolita consists of and get a basic understanding of what looks good. "Lolita inspired" is fine, but if you're getting told it isn't lolita at all it most likely isn't instead lolitas being "obsessed" with rules,

Neo lolita is such a hot mess now, I feel like it's hipsters that want to be even more original, so normal lolita isn't cutting it anymore.

>>
>>9647682
That was my bad, I'm not calling it neo-lolita at all. I'm exhausted and somehow merged it with a past thread that was everything "rule breaking" using lolita brands.

>No rules" lolita and lolita inspired is whole other thing, but since it's allowed I'll spam the thread with that instead.
>>

>I don't consider things like socks, shoes, or accessories other than oldschool headdresses to be lolita specific to be clear.
That's just your opinion then. Based on the examples posted from Kera, neo lolita uses burando accessories, and is not trying to fit in or be a new version of lolita fashion as we know it. It feels like a style lolitas might wear when they don't want to wear lolita and decided to use their lolita wardrobe for something new or mix it with other streetstyles.
>>
>>9647682
One anon posted relevant images from actual neo lolita spreads, another anon started posting old stuff nobody asked for of lolitas breaking the rules
>>
>>9647687
That just sounds like the common "street fashion" style, the idea was often featured in Alice Deco A La Mode, it's nothing new or inventive, just an old idea with a new label.
>>
>>9647690

How is that lolita items if you get anywhere though? Something like a lolita appropiate circle skirt I can see, but what's so lolita about mary janes and bows? Both have existed for decades before lolita in and out of Japan. What difference does a head bow or a pair socks being precious burando? If it wasn't actually burando but the same otherwise generic j-fashion outfit does it suddenly stop being neo-lolita? It just sounds like an incredibly snowflakey way to say you're wearing items from AP or Baby. Is this neololita or not because of bodyline shoes? Where does that fall.

Nyart but neo is literally another word for new. That's the same reason people where confused by a "neo-gyaru" that was almost the antithesis of gyaru.
>>
>>9647705
Because they wrongly assumed it was a new version of gyaru. Stop taking the word so literally and stop overthinking this, and your confusion will go away.
>>
>>9647715
>stop taking the word so literally

How the fuck are people supposed to take it? You can't seriously be suggesting people ignore the actual meaning of a word for whatever bs someone wants it to mean.

It's a shitty name for it.
>>
>>9647715
Why use gyaru then? I can get neo-lolita but it's pretty ridiculous to say "don't assume they're using the actual definition of a word or that's it's in anyway related to this fashion we added in the name of." If you want people to post neo-lolita you have to actually tell them what it is, what it consists of, what it isn't, and actually stick to that yourself. If lolita brand items are the entire basis of this style posting more pics without then with is just confusing.
>>
>>9647718
>>9647719
Because they are Japanese people, not anglos. If you hate neo lolita or don't know what it is, feel free to not post images here. If you are trying to make up a definition for neo lolita to fit into your autistic world view, I can't help you.

>>
>>9647800
You're incredibly thin skinned. Just say you want things posted from that tag or things extremely similar. It's your own fault for getting so pissy and refusing to answer properly. You've been quoting me to both bitch at then agree with. It's not some dastardly scheme to ruin your life in particular. All of this could have been avoided from the start just by being clear and getting triggered.

>>9647810
They're obviously being sarcastic. Also that was another anon who explicitly stated they're another anon and weren't meaning it to be neo-lolita.

>>
>>9647815
Because there's no definition and seemingly random examples. Neo-lolita has been posted about multiple times and very few anons have ever mentioned a magazine or tag as the basis. Just RinRin and the "concept." Literally all you have to do is say looks from __ magazine or from __ tag and no matter how conflicting or unheard of it is people can actually contribute. If you want to people to "educate themselves" you can't act like a tumblr sjw and insult people until they magically give you what you want.

Okay, I'll be more clear. I posted the first image dump and the deleted reply of >>9647794. Then I started to read the thread and decided it has gone to shit. I don't think it can be saved by saying I meant coords from neo lolita tags and photoshoots.
>>
>>9647826
So you're a completely different person than the one that's being arguing and calling everyone autstic? Yeah then my reply doesn't apply anywhere near as much as before. My point is if you were there from the beginning simply stating you didn't mean no rules literally and posting the tag most likely would've resulted in a completely different thread. People aren't going to respond kindly or want to help a thread when the OP did what that other person did.
