I want a lolita bff to down pints with so badly
>>

Literally 1 minute of searching anon.
https://lolibrary.org/items/victorian-maiden-miredi-op
Congrats though, it's beautiful.
>>
>>9656385
Same. I've met most of the active members in my comm and have nothing in common other than the fashion.

I feel like the past few years I've wasted money on hanging out with people I don't care for.
>>
I wish I was a cute girl gulls.
I'll forever be a 5/10 at best and it hurts
>>
>>9656442
Work on your skin, hair, and teeth and you too can be cute.
>>
>>9656437
Do you really know what they are like outside meets? I actually met a really cute girl at a bar once and found out months later she was in my comm
>>
>>9656446
This is just mean to give this kind of hope to ugly people because it's not true. No matter how well kept she is she can't change facial structure without surgery.
>>
>>9656442
being a cute girl sucks too. we're all doomed to be miserable anon it's okay
>>
>>9656359

I owned Kingdom of Lolita. The quality is pretty all right.

Mainly, the sheer fabric is pretty stiff, but it was listed as an organdy dress to begin with, so I feel like it's not something I should complain about. On the other hand, I also have AP's DDC with the organza peplum, and I feel like brand just makes better fabric choices. So I guess try to scrutinize all the information instead of being wowed by the pretty photos before you buy.

That said, the end product does look like the sample, and all the info they give is accurate. The sewing is factory-made and finished well, no complaints about the construction.
>>
>>9656462
No, because if she's a 5/10 that mean she's plain/average, not ugly. As long as you're 4 or above, you're saveable.
>>
>>9656442
Observe yourself closely, find your "flaws"/the things that you think make you a 5, plan and research on how to fix or hide them and (even more importantly) find the beautiful parts about you and draw attention to them.
And when I write "observe yourself" I'm not only talking about your body, but also your mindset, character and body language.

Or you could just forget x/10 rankings because they are retarded anyway.
>>
>>9656462
There are no ugly girls, just lazy ones
>>
>>9656508
Honestly, this. Take some control over yourself, anon.

I keep hoping that I'll meet someone in a relatively normal situation, strike it off marvelously and they're secretly a lonelita too.

Of all the places in Houston to be spared hurricane damage, Shop in Wonderland is the worst. Do the Leighs' fuckpuppets have to shill their business at every opportunity? A KERA event writeup does not need a fucking ad in it.

Felt like here in General would be a better place to ask than the new releases thread, anyone have experience with Boz's sizing? Is it right on target, smaller than advertised, otherwise? I'm eyeing this item on their webstore but the listed measurements (Bust: 83 ~ 88) make me a bit nervous at 84cm. Super excited to buy direct from Boz now that they have some stuff in stock, but just want to make sure I'll fit before I go through a rollercoster of disappoinment.

I mean the only reason I didn't go in was because they were closed. Which was odd because based on the hours displayed they should have been open...
>>
>>9656631
Boz can be inconsistent in sizing, but I've noticed that their newer released are bigger. At 84cm, you should be fine though, the smallest boz piece I own is 86cm bust, which was listed as such. Also looks like thats a piece with an open back on top, so that'll also give you a little more room too.

How are you buying direct from their web store? Last I tried, they only accepted bank transfer. Which it seems weird to me as they accept credit cards in store.
>>
>>9656678
Direct was a poor choice of words, sorry to mislead. I mostly meant as direct as one can possibly buy from them, so through a shopping service. I'm a bit new and never seen so much stock on their web store, I always looked and it was almost empty, so I'm just excited to buy from them firsthand hence the word kerfuffle.

imagine that, a Leigh venture operating in a sketchy fashion.
>>

They're spot on. If you have an 84cm bust you should be ok. The main issue with Boz sizing is inconsistency between releases, and not giving enough of the measurements.

Alright but why the hell is Puppet Circus so expensive? I don't get why a dress who passed through several owners still maintain such a high price. Even if it's "popular".
Yes I'm kinda salty because I'll never drop 1000$ on a dress (would feel super guilty) but the red one is forever my dream dress. rip.
>>
>>9656547
Wait, they created a new Houston comm that is Leigh-friendly?
>>
>>9656828
It's not just popular, it's rare so supply is low, and seen as a status symbol so demand is high. This is why it's expensive. Either save up for it or move on.
>>
>>9656657
This is really sad and terrible, but the poster said she got wood varnish on it originally, so short of cutting up the fabric to make something new, dyeing it wasn't the worst idea. It's still a super cute cut, and I'd probably buy it if international shipping weren't so expensive. I feel like it could look pretty good after a proper acid dye wash.
>>
>>9656822
If you can't even google such a simple question yourself, you're not made for that kind of hustle.
>>
I'm contemplating buying this dress I saw on a japanese secondhand website for like 15$.
Does any of you gulls have or had it? And do you think babydoll cuts look childish?

I'm hesitating mainly because all of my main pieces are from japanese brands and I don't wanna break that pattern. And last time i bought a BL dress (soft cream JSK) i felt disappointed and sold it so...
>>
>>9656869
This is one of BL's nicer dresses, it's made out of very warm cotton and is overall good quality. Only the seams on the inside look sloppy, at least on mine. I'd say go for it anon.
>>
>>9656784
Holy shit anon. What dress is that? All i can imigine is if you bought it too soon on the secondhand market while it was still really hyped. Or maybe misty sky?

>>9656822
Fetlife
>>
>>9656869

>>
>>9656458
I work with some of them actually so yeah.

I've run into lolitas on the train before but where I live its considered weird to strike up conversations with strangers and they always look slightly mortified from being seen in public anyway.

>>9656742
Its not so much an age thing for me as its just hard to find common ground with anyone really. Most of my comm seems to enjoy harry potter, Pokemon and anime. They also seem to watch a lot of normie sitcoms and popcorn movies. Oh and they all love jpop.

I always find myself out of the loop in conversations when everyone gets tired of talking about their wardrobe. They're all really nice- I just... Don't know what to do with them aside from silently sip tea while they all get excited about something I don't care for?

It sucks that the only time I can wear lolita and have real fun is with my boyfriend.
>>
>>9656617
I'm not going to go over $300, that's the budget for my dream dress, but I'm in Japan so I don't have to deal with fees or insurance. I'd only feel guilty because it's bolder than my mostly classic and black stuff, and I'd have less occasion to wear it while having spent the most money on it.

>>9656657
to be fair if I had a light-colored dress that fit really well and it had stains I couldn't get out I'd try this too. Would never sell it like that, though, would just put it in the recycling and try to forget it ever happened.

After being a lonelita for half a year I've converted two friends to lolita this week, and it's nice to have someone to go shopping with and chat with over ruffles, lace, and tea. One was leaning in that direction already, and was sold after I gave her a dress, and the other was unexpected but she's into the goth/corsets aesthetic, and likes classic cuts without prints.
>>
>>9656869
I think it's really cute but also childish, but not much more childish than most sweet so it really depends on your personal taste and build. A girl in my comm owns it and it looks to be among pretty decent quality for BL standards.
>>
>>9656617
I regularly spend around 350 on new AP and Meta but just can't justify paying any more than that. Baby releases super cute things sometimes but I would never pay more than 500 for OTT or 350 for non OTT and it seems like everything I like busts that limit
>>
>>9656617
~£900, for Rose Ribbon Embroidery. Totally worth it, but I'll never spend that much ever again.

Any gull with anxiety here?
I almost never go to meetups mainly due to my crippling anxiety.
I'm feeling excited planning an event in my head but when it comes down to actually planning (asking everyone, setting a date,..) or being the day/week before, i get pretty anxious, imagine all kinds of bad stuff (friends not getting along together, something bad happening, best friend canceling,...)
It's gone to the point where i can't feel excited anymore.
I planned a little meetup for my birthday in november and I don't even feel excitment (and I invited friends I love, haven't seen them in a while,we'll be just 5,...). I only feel angst. It's not even fun because of how much I'm stressed about it.
>>
>>9656831
As of right now, there are 2 Houston comms. IDK if D is in either of them.
>>
>>9656901
You should sell it like that. You can put a really low price on it and then someone (me) can make it into something wearable.
>>
>>9656923
Do you have any friends within your Comm? Create a private meetup with a rotation of friends and go from there.
>>
>>9656923
I feel kinda like that too. I've been a lolita for years but haven't even dared to join a comm due to my social anxiety. I finally got around to applying to a Facebook group for UK lolitas last week, but I think they haven't accepted me because I have no recent photos in lolita and don't mention it at all on my profile... I'm not sure I'll ever be part of a comm, sadly.
>>
>>9656950
That's what I do. Yet I still feel anxious.
But yeah, I'm getting help for that, I actually have an anxiety disorder. But god, it ruins everything. I wish I could feel excited about things again.
>>
>>9656963
Message the mods, and explain that while it's not obvious on your profile you are into the fashion, show a bit of knowledge about it in your message.
>>
I know it has been discussed before but I can't seem to find any resources for it, so can anyone drop links of places to purchase cute lolita-esq pajamas and roomwear? Or search words that could be used on taobao? I'm also looking for cute swimwear!
>>
>>9656923
i don't understand when people complain about social anxiety and then still go to meets without enjoying them at all. just... don't go if it doesn't make you happy? socialize online? maybe i'm seeing it too black and white but i have social anxiety and the notion of putting myself in a situation i know i'd hate seems awfully stupid. if you feel better being alone, just be alone.
>>
How much is reasonable to pay for a GLB with all the patterns and stickers? And for one without?
>>
>>9657012
For a GLB with all the patterns included I wouldn't pay more than 20usd
>>
>>9656923
I used to be a lonelita for years because of anxiety, but at some point I somehow managed to get my shit together, joined my local comm and started going to meets. Unless you have some underlying trauma that's causing the anxiety, exposing yourself to situations that make you anxious will generally lessen the anxiety over time. Maybe you can dial back a bit for now and just attend meets organised by other people?

>>9657009
I can't speak for everyone, but I've noticed that when I give in to my anxiety and shut myself off from the world, it gets harder and harder to socialise at all and I start sliding into depression. I need to socialise at least once every two weeks to keep my callouses up so I can function in the world. Pushing too hard is harmful, but not pushing at all makes me soft and unable to deal with even basic stuff like picking up a package. It's kinda like exercise. It exhausts me, initially it's very unpleasant, but if I keep it up it becomes easier and eventually I start enjoying it. I can choose to just sit on the couch instead but over time that makes me sickly and weak.
>>
>>9656901
Congrats anon! I dunno if I'd want to convert any of my friends, but it warms my heart that someone else has been able to.

I'd want to get that dress to reverse the dye job just to see what the heck happened with the varnish originally. It also seems like a good candidate to experiment with embroidering the print parts of the dress. But yeah, I'd never try to sell it after that much frankensteining.
>>
Found these on eBay, which taobao shop are they actually from? I'd like a couple for casual wear, but I don't want to buy them off some random ebay seller...
>>
>>9657029
Looks like Haruhi Clover
>>
>>9656923
im pretty sure like 75% of lolitas deal with anxiety, espeically on here.... but
Yes, its why i cant host a meet (besides our mod ignoring you forever if you did). my fear of everyone flaking/no one coming is too high that i cant even attempt to get it started. But this also applies to normie parties/events in general
>>
>>9657067
>everyone flaking/no one coming
This has happened to me twice and nobody knows about it besides me so who cares? I'm honestly starting to wonder how you all hold a job.
>>
Sorry to be a new fag, but do brands have large winter sales at all (similar to APs recent summer sale)? If so, will the time and date be released on their blog?
>>
>>9657073
If you post a meet that 50 people saw but didn’t go to, all those people know. Also if you put money down on something it is a financial issue for flakes to be a thing.
>>
>>9657078
How do they know? Do you think they kept checking the meet-up post and page, and asked everyone who was on 'going' if they flaked?
>>
>>9657080
It'd be pretty obvious when you don't post pictures of it. At least in my comm.
>>
>>9657081
Oh I never post any and don't do photoshoots at my meets. But even then, it's unlikely people who didn't go care anough to think about it. Usually I post about a meet-up 2-3 months in advance, the people who are not on going or interested don't hear about it are not going to remember that post 3 months later and wonder where the pics are.
>>
>>9657080
If you use the fb event system, 1 attending being you is pretty clear. If you are friends with the comm members the lack of pictures is clear too. It isn’t hard to realize that people know based on fb use.
>>
>>9657073
But what if your comm is notorious for clicking going but never goes? Weve had events where 10 people say theyre going but only 3 attend. It would break my heart to think 8 people were possibly coming and literally no one shows up. We dont always post photos of meets but most of us do an on the way photo or photos months later. It dont care about what people think i mean being disapointed and going to a cafe and having no one join you....
>>
>>9657087
It was really disappointing but it hasn't stopped me from organising more meets. If it happens a lot at your comm other lolitas who have organised meets can probably relate to you, maybe you can think of solutions together on how to get people to show up more. For example you could post a poll about the date, time or budget and say ''if you voted for this, it's an automatic confirmation that you will be there'', a week beforehand you can send a message to the people who voted for the winning date/time/place whatever ''You confirmed that you are going to this meet, I'm just messaging everyone to give you my number/the plan'' or something. It puts pressure on people who aren't seriously interested in going. It is really easy to put yourself on 'going' and not go, but if you have talked with them it becomes something personal and real and makes it harder to flake on you.
>>
>>9657083
We don't do photoshoots either anon. We just take a group picture and it's up to members to take their own pictures if they want them. But a list of our meets are also kept at the top of our page in a pinned post since fb can't manage to show people upcoming events anymore.

If someone backed out of an auction on lacemarket because they realized they weren't going to fit the dress, are you justified to leave negative feedback, or do you just leave neutral?
>>

A couple weeks back we had a natural hair thread. There were lots of styles, including some without bangs.

I look terrible with bangs, and I exclusively wear my natural hair in lolita. You can definitely style your hair for lolita without bangs.

All that being said, clip in bangs are a thing.

My sentiment is similar to >>9657341's, just a lot less rude. This would be a great thing to commission from anyone who is open to them, it's very simple so you probably wouldn't have to wait very long for it (depending on their workload), and nobody in their right might would charge you an arm and a leg for something like this. Your only other option is to do what you've already done and shop around secondhand sites or check official brand sites (though the price point will generally be higher and the bows will usually have a lot more embellishment than what you're probably looking for).

its called styling your hair anon.

I've had bangs for about 6 years now and i pretty much wash and style my bangs every day. I've forgotten what life was like without this burden, but its really not that much extra time - maybe an extra 2 minutes in the shower to wash your bangs and 5 minutes to quickly blowdry and straighten. on very rare occasions i dont wash them and just dry shampoo, or pin my fringe up if i'm at home all day.

I own this dress and I love it, but desu I like all my BL pieces for what they are (cheap, not very fussy, and easy to clean or replace so I can relax without worrying about damage). I'm not particularly worried about it looking childish since I just style as more sweet-classic than anything.

The material is pretty thick, but it is comfortable, and unlike some bodyline lace it is cotton and not scratchy. I believe I bought mine new for $15 during some super sale, but with the state of the site if it's in good condition $15 is not too bad used.

For comparison, I also own a couple of high-waisted skirts which are pretty okay, and the material is a little thin but fairly soft, vs. Squirrel Party, which is a bit crunchy with scratchy lace and the skirt is an awkward length and shape.

I'm not in the EU but I've definitely used those services to buy american makeup that is overpriced here and things from US department stores. The service I used is run by my country's postal service and I'm pretty sure it only ships here but their might be a europe specific service also? I think shipitto is the service most like tenso in that it ships literally everywhere, but your country might have their own service.

Overall the shipping was pretty fast, the prices to ship makeup was reasonable only if I bought a bulk of it, but for heavy lolita clothes I imagine if you're already used to paying high shipping costs, it's worth it. Like Tenso, the price for shipping through a service is usually the cost of international shipping + their service/handling fee (usually under 10 dollars) If they're a half decent service they will also have a calculator on their website for you to get an estimate. Usually they're pretty accurate and if you opt for slower shipping methods of course the cost will be cheaper. Having bought through Tenso before I think it's definitely worth it, the prices are similar and the wait isn't that long if you choose the fastest shipping option.
>>
>>9657860
Does it not work for curly hair or am I missing something here?

I have curly hair and straighten my bangs, if you have a short fringe you have to style it anyways, don't you?
>>
>>9657944
When you use dry shampoo you have to brush it out, brushing curly hair pulls apart the curls and creates a big frizzy mess. But if you straighten your bangs, you can use it just on the bangs, which is what I do.

>>9657947
I think as long as you had plenty of good feedback for selling/buying generally, and had very clear rules and pricing for the SS that would be a really good idea. I often see stuff on lacemarket that I would be much more inclined to buy if I could ship it all together, and I feel like when dealing with individual sellers, someone who has some knowledge of the market would have an advantage over a random company with a warehouse.

Which lolita brand bags hold up the best? Am I better off buying from a brand like Milk if I want something cute but a bit more durable?

I have a bag from IW that I've used several times a week for over a year and it's still in like-new condition. I've also heard great things about Meta.
It depends on the bag, though. Novelty bags tend to be more flimsy, for instance. Some materials are also less durable than others. The book purses tend to be made of softer material with an outer layer that it prone to flaking off, whereas my bag is made of hard sturdy material that's apparently quite durable.

They are planning to do this in every EU country btw. In Germany their justification for it is "m-muh china" and "guess you need to buy your cheap low quality shit domestically now and add our overpriced taxes to it, which is just as expensive than importing now, too bad :^)"
Lets organize a EU lolita rally and burn our shitty governments down.

The whole rationale behind that is so stupid. I get it that this is meant to drive up demand for domestic goods but it's not like a domestic alternative even exists. Can we get a lolita into the EU parliament pls
>>
>>9658609

I think there is a difference between someone trying to deliberately skirt import duties for the purpose of running a business (for example) and someone making purchases for personal use & you can clearly tell the difference through the volume of the goods. Let me put it this way, if I had easy access to buying jfash, through an EU store that would take returns and get my stuff to me within a week, I would be happy to pay the extra tax on that. It's hard to say that I'm taking someone's job considering I just wouldn't buy on the domestic market full stop.
Sage for double post.
>>
>>9658613

>>
>>9658609

The free trade treaty with Japan is for the entire European Union, but they say it will take some more years before it will start, I think 2019/2021. The biggest factor is Germany at the moment, who might get in trouble if cheap Japanese cars will flood the market.

Yeah that's nonsense. I know that when buying from some American shops you pay for customs pre-clearance so maybe that's something you could look into? Or alternatively, you could strike up a deal with one of EU based lolita shops so they could buy from you wholesale, in which case you wouldn't have that much of a discrepancy between the end price. Bear in mind this is just wild speculation though.
Is it just me or is international shipping generally quite weird in the US though? I can ship something that fits in a large envelope (like a lighter dress) from the UK to the US for about £12 with tracking which seems fair, but it seems like there's no equivalent service for the States?

2) they let me pay the goddamn VAT with a cash card or credit card when the post man comes to my house to deliver the package and charges me VAT. Because I don't always happen to have the exact amount of 15.12€ or something similarly ridiculous in cash at hand.

Is there any suggestions to dress down a Lolita outfit to enjoy it, but be able to wear it to normie situations? And just for fun, I want to achieve some minimalistic, noir or urban Lolita style (God forbid, no Converse involved)
>>
>>9660343

Start with a simple dress. Wear it simply. Thats it.

If you so desperately need a clue, check out Moitie's rose print dresses, a lot of girls tend to coord them minimally. If you go further and swap out the chunky shoes for normie heels and tone down the accessories, hair and makeup, (keep the petticoat and look well-groomed), they'll still read as EGL, but are also normie-looking enough that most people dont comment on them. You can also do similar with IWs plainest pieces, and cutsew OPs from almost any brand, although you have to filter those for the right vibe. Assuming you dont try to pull a stunt like wear lolita to the gym, of course.

Youre on your own with the minimalistic noir urban.

For some reason a lot of gulls do not mark down their parcels with a SS. They buy from brands and shops directly (who don't mark down as it's illegal) and end up paying way more than the 5-10% they would've paid a SS.

I wish it was more acceptable in the Western community to refuse to sell someone a dress if you think they won't treat it properly. I prefer not to sell shirred pieces to obese people because more likely than not they'll overstretch the elastic and damage the seams, but aside from saying that the dress runs smaller than the max measurements would lead one to believe, there's nothing you can do that won't get you labelled a fatphobic booly. I don't understand why you wouldn't just sell your dress to someone who would pay for it and wear it? unless you're renting it out temporarily and expect to get it back why do you care about chubby people wearing stretchy clothes? you sound kind of crazy anon...
>on the other hand, I understand the fetish concern
>>
>>9660608
>chubby people wearing stretchy clothes
Thats not what they said. Theyre concerned about people destroying clothes. Why is that not concerning but fetishists are? You can wash cum off clothes but you cant fix busted seams as easily.

Is there anybody else not very fond of using Tenshi as a shopping service? I never hear anything negative about her, however i have used her quite a bit over the last few years and every single time her communication about the arrival or shippment of my items are little to none. And the only time i ever do get updates about the status of any of my items is after i ask her about it like "hey i noticed that this preorder was finally released by btssb last week, have you recieved it yet?" with a lot of answers like "i dont know! They havent contacted me yet" like shouldn't you go to them if something you ordered for a customer was shipped out to everyone except you? Or being told "oh yeah it arrived to me a few days ago. I should have it shipped on monday" and then 2 weeks later it just shows up at my house and i never got an email with a tracking number or anything.

Do i just have bad luck?bis there someone else woth better communication i could use? Im just tired of having to go out of my way to figure out whats hoing on with my items instead of being updated periodically like everyone else ive ever bought from

Tenshi is overpriced imo

>I prefer not to sell shirred pieces to obese people because more likely than not they'll overstretch the elastic and damage the seams

it's not up to that anon to decide who is too large to wear what. sounds like a bunch of assumptions can happen on her part when there are plenty of knowledgeable lolitas who know their measurements and what flatters their shape.
it's whatever but it sounds like she probably shouldn't sell to anyone online and should probably stick to private sales between her friends.

kairai is my fav, but haven't used them for reservations or in-store purchases

have you seen what some gulls think of as 'obese'?
cgl is full of people with insane body issues.

I wasn’t super fond of her service. She was pretty good with communication for me, she was on vacation when I put in my request but she responded surprisingly fast. I messaged her after not hearing from her from a while and she let me know that had she got it (according to tracking) and would ship out when she got back. When she got back, she shipped it out a couple of days later and gave me a tracking number right away.
I just wasn’t very fond of her fees, she didn’t disclose everything very well, and just clumped fees together in one cost. I’ve used a few other SS before & they were very explicit with their fees and how everything added up in the end so I felt like I just had to trust her with her fees.
Unfortunately the other SS I’ve used haven’t been much better with communication for every step of the way (eg: they got your request, ordered it, it shipped to them, they recieved it, shipped it out, etc) other than an automated system like zenmarket. I’m trying to ditch the middle man and just buy stuff myself cause I’m sick of dealing with them now.

A lot of lolitas care about lolita clothes and have respect for brand, I'm sorry that's hard to grasp for some of you
>>
this is a weird question but has anyone ordered a kigurumi from anywhere. I have no idea of a "reputable site" for kigus
>>
>>9660771
sounds like the topic is hitting a little close to home.
>>
>>9660708
I don't really like tenshi for normal shopping. I'll probably just use her for reservations in the future.
I've used her twice before, but I recently ordered a scarf through her (after placing an order with my slightly slower normal SS) around 8:30 PM her time. She didn't order until the next morning, 20 minutes after my normal SS left a comment...
I thought she was supposed to be fast and I seriously doubt she was asleep. I was worried the item I wanted would sell out, but it turns out she was just as slow as my normal SS.
Additionally, I think she uses an even higher conversion rate than the paypal conversion rate, which is already worse than the real conversion rate.
>>
>>9660764
Why? The personal SS I know charge 10-15%
>>
>>9660801
>I’m trying to ditch the middle man and just buy stuff myself cause I’m sick of dealing with them now.
But HOW? I'd legit give my left hand to be able to buy directly of fril or mercari, but they instaban accounts with forwarding service addresses.

Yep, I'm a marshmallow chan/thwomplita.
I've been collecting and wearing lolita for 3 years and I don't keep/wear brand that I don't fit. I'm an hourglass/my bust is 20cm greater than underbust so the bust is always my main concern. but I've become a pro at what works for my body; took some time and a lot of money (my first brand purchase was an IW sack dress that I sadly had to sell).

all this to say, don't assume a person doesn't absolutely treasure their beautiful clothes just because they're chubby. I'm not a dress-destroying monster.
>>
>>9660708
I'm with >>9660847 she lets me know as soon as she gets something I order, usually within a few hours of me putting in my request and I've never missed receiving tracking information. Mind you, I've been with her for a few years now, make a request around every two months and have always been very friendly and prompt in my communication/payments, so there's that to consider.
>>
>>9660573
Not if you typed it exactly as it was in PayPal. This happened to me before because USPS left a notice that I'm pretty sure blew away in the wind because I never got it (they normally leave it outside on the door). My package got sent back and I didn't want to pay shipping again because of how cheap the item was so I had asked for a refund on the item only. The seller flipped their lid and said I had to pay for shipping again. Eventually they just didn't refund me at all. Please don't be like them and be understanding if the item does get returned. It's not your fault if they put in the address incorrectly, but don't force them to pay shipping again if they decide it's not worth it to ship twice.
>>
>>9660860
That anon said obese. Are you obese anon? Then don't assume she's talking about you.
>>

I have such bad anxiety that I have never worn lolita out of my house. I recently sold one of my dream dresses because I realised I was too petrified to wear it (also moved on from sweet) and I feel so useless. I live in a city in which people don't look twice at punk/weird styles, as long as they look modern/recognisable, but I don't want to think of the reactions I'd get if I was out in lolita. I'm absolutely terrified. It's a catch 22 - if I was with someone else dressed up in lolita, I'm sure I'd be fine! ...Unfortunately you have to go out in lolita to make lolita friends, so I'll never get there. Sigh.
>>
>>9660880
Anon, alternatively, do you have any non-lolita friends who would be able to go with you while you wear it?
I also live in a city with a lot of alt fashion and was in the same boat with you for a long while, but I started wearing lolita while I was out with my (non-lolita) boyfriend and now I wear it quite frequently.
I know it's a bit useless to just say it, but it's nowhere near as bad as you'd expect it to be. I haven't had any bad experiences yet, and I wear super flashy sweet. I hope you'll be able to wear it out soon!
>>
>>9660708
I do think she's kinda expensive, what's the cheapest SS to use if you want to buy from Fril/Mercari though? The anon earlier mentioned kairai but I feel like the price range is basically the same...
I think Japonica are a little bit cheaper, but the fact that they force using EMS really puts me off them.
>>
>>9660887
My boyfriend is in a different country atm, so as much as I'm sure he'd be supportive, I cant really do much. I had a friend back in my old city who acted like she was super interested and wanted to wear it, but then it turned out she was making fun of me behind my back the whole time. Awkward, but we were like 18/19 so I guess I can peg it down to just being childish. My best friend said I could wear it with her but she always takes the piss out of me when I talk about it (which I can deal with, but it's disheartening) and I know she hates it, so it's a bit conflicting. I wouldnt want to hang out with someone who hates it, and I know she'd make me feel shitty about it even if she didnt mean to. The other friends I have in this city are mostly anime nerds and when I spoke to them about lolita they said 'oh you wear lolicon clothes? That's hot lolxd', which made me want to d i e
I guess I'll do it one day!!!! (I've been saying I'll get the courage for 4/5 years now.... just one more day cant hurt)
>>
>a girl in my comm who takes multiple Japan trips offers SS
>created an official page and everything
>everything looks okay. 15% SS fee, possible train fares if it’s outside her normal travels, deets about shipping from Japan if it’s a larger or heavier item (vs taking In a suitcase home)
>100 yen = $1 (because possible inflation!!!!)
>thats a 10% mark up. She’s essentially making 23-24% on purchases,
>it doesn’t seem like a lot on smaller items but if she’s buying a 30000 yen dress she’s making $75 on it.

Did anybody else put in a reservation for Carnival? I just got mine and i was suprised about how small the circumference of the skirt it. It's a line and not nearly as full as any of my other dresses, especially AP.

Despite the small amount of poof it is so cute worn and really comfortable and i kind of wish i had ordered it in a second color. Pink x black will forever be my favorite though.
>>
>>9660808
It is a weird question
>>
>>9660905
That's what personal SS cost, how can you say she's expensive if you don't even know a single one that's cheaper?
>>
>>9660814
She’s nice but always find her a bit shady. She doesn’t have a Japanese Paypal by now? SS is her sole income so is she reporting it for taxes?
>>
>>9660950
If you don't like it, don't use her. It's not like she's hiding it; a lot of SS have weird exchange rates.
>>

I guess Ill leave it, seeing as I obviously don't have an address in Japan and I feel like bringing my passport as ID would just be confusing. Thanks for the info tho, anon! $10 per item doesn't really surprise me desu

Stupid question: was there ever a grey colorway of misty sky jsk or was it just the skirt MTO?
>>
>>9660988
The only grey was a sailor collar short sleeve op, hair clip, & socks

>>9660914
I feel you so hard
All of my friends who support alt fashion lives states or countries or continents away. When I meet up with them I wear the shit out of gothic lolita, but when I'm at home I just don't have the courage to do it. I live in the deep south, and my gf is agoraphobic, so I would never dream of taking her out while drawing more attention to us than necessary. It's just such a fucking shame, I love the fashion so fucking much and feel like I'm wasting it....
>>
>>9660991
I'd be interested in a grey jsk but im wondering how probable is it to put on my wishlist. I'd imagine it'd be quite rare and sought after.
>>
>>9660950
Don't use her then. I won't waste my vacation time unless I'm getting big bucks. I doubt she'll get a lot of business aside since there are better shopping services out there

The gray was a sailor cut Tokyo store exclusive.

they are probably getting as much as they can. Selling luxury items (tickets, etc) for hotel, etc is worth it. They are probably selling other items too but maybe only the tickets are relevant

Yeah it's pretty weird you assume that's the only thing they're doing to get money

Do you realize how much cancer costs? Even with insurance they're gonna need at least 20,000 usd just to start off with. I swear half of cgl has never had anything to do with adult responsibilities in their entire life.
>>
>>9660972
I've just said that Japonica are cheaper and would be using them if it wasn't for the whole EMS thing. Her prices aren't that bad on the surface but her exchange rate is really high as >>9660814 said which is a pain when you're not paying in dollars.
>>
>>9660860
I’m >>9660422 and I’m talking about OBESE people, not people who are a bit chubby and do fit brand. Please stop getting so defensive, I’m not talking about you. I’ve been messaged many times by women asking me if my dress will fit their 104cm waist because according to lolibrary it can *technically* stretch up to 105cm, even though it’s clearly supposed to be a very loose-fitting dress. Even worse are the ones who blame their fit issues on their boobs only but then I check out their profile and they’re shaped like a beach ball. There are a lot of delusional obese people in lolita and I prefer not to sell nice dresses to someone who will then wear them with the waistline around their nipples and declare that it totally fits great. But with the oversensitive attitude in the Western comm, you can’t refuse to sell something on the basis that it won’t fit them properly because that’s fat shaming and how daaaare I tell them what they can do with THEIR body and THEIR money! But the thing is that I’m not, I’m just telling them that they can’t do it with this particular dress.
