Let's talk about the the best shopping services for buying from Japanese sites - who is a good SS for buying from fril and mercari and other auction sites? Any good/bad experiences with shopping services? Who has the best fee rates? Discuss who your go to SS is in this thread gulls.
>>
I love tenshi, she replies quickly when she needs to and is really efficient, I tried to use mintkismet a few times but she sucks, first time she couldn't get my item (understandable) second time she sold the item I was buying to someone else because I didn't give her my pp quick enough, when she didn't specify that first priority was to the first who provides pp.
I tried to use fromjapan to buy an in store item but they said they couldn't get it.
I used treasurejapan a few times to get items from mbok and y!ja but their fees were crazy expensive so I switched to tenshi for a while but felt bad hassling her so I also use buyee when my haul is too big. (great website interface)
I love and hate tenso, it's easy to use but they once took back a 50% off shipping coupon from me during a promotion so i had to pay $200+ for shipping when I had bought specifically during that time period for that coupon.
>>
>>9710177
tenshi has never let me down. i don't have much to compare her to because i use her every time, but her communication is impeccable. she was even emailing back and forth with me while she was at an in-store bloodbath trying to get my items. that's customer service!
>>
I like Zenmarket. They are cheap and have good service.
>>
>>9710300
Literally who?
>>
>>9710310
What do you mean? Are you new? They've definitely been mentioned in other shopping services threads.

I like them because their fee is only 300 yen per item. Their DHL shipping option is pretty cheap. I switched to them once I found that from japan fees were a ripoff.

The only problem is they are kind of slow and can't buy from fril/mercari.
>>
>>9710300
Seconding ZenMarket! They do irritate me with how slow they can be but I guess nothing is perfect.
>>
>>9710317
What do you mean you can't use them for fril/mercari? Can't you just link them the listing that you want to make a purchase on?

>>9710324
Slow but worth the wait, in my experience a week later than Tenso or Tenshi.
>>
>>9710330
Not in my experience, you just get a message that the seller supposedly committed fraud/unreliable so they can't buy from them, when in actuality they can't buy from mercari or fril because those sites forbid shopping services.
>>
>>9710330
Not so worth the wait if they're so slow that the item is sold out by the time they try to buy it, though. I'd say they're great for auctions, mbok, and regular shopping sites that aren't on sale, but can be risky to use for sites like Closet Child or items that are in limited quantities.
>>
Even though I live in Japan, I can't use my credit cards on Mercari and Fril since they were issued overseas and I don't know a lot of Japanese to communicate with sellers.

Tenshi is my also go-to SS. She responds quickly and even when she was traveling abroad recently, she was able to get my item and email me back with a few days.

I used to use Japonica but they would overcharge me shipping when I lived somewhere else and they were a little slower to respond and invoice. I don't use them anymore since they're always backed up on orders.
>>
>>9710444
Anon you can pay for mercari stuff at a konbini.
>>
I've used Japonica, Tenshi, and Kairai.
tenshi has slamming communication and understands jfash, kairai is super quick and has less fees. I think kairai lives in a better location for more conv. in-store stuff.
it's hard for me to say who I like better, both are great. Japonica is dead last tho
>>
>>9710447
I don't really know how that works
>>
>>9710177
I love momoirokumasan, she's a lolita herself too! But she's very slow. Good for when you want to communicate with Japanese sellers though, like for something customized or out of stock. She also packages really well and I have never had to pay customs for something I received from her.
>>
Anybody who doesn't only do lolita/clothing?
I want to also get my hands on some figures and doujins.
>>
>>9710542
Companies like ZenMarket and Japonica buy anything, within reason, they're not exclusive to clothing.
>>
>>9710542
I’ve had tenshi get me weeby shit along with lolita, most services aren’t limited in the wares they’ll buy as long as it’s legal to be shipped.
>>
Is Tenshi fast when buying from Mercari and Fril? I've missed out on so many items due to the time zone difference and how slow Japonica is. I did have Japonica buy something within 20 mins of me submitting the order once.
>>
>>9710563
Slow? Please elaborate. I've had excellence experience with Japonica. One time I placed an order for a piece on Mercari and within four minutes I got the email that Japonica had ordered it. To clarify, this is email was four minutes after I got the order confirmation email. I checked and it was purchased.
>>
>>9710570
I'd submit an order at around 10:00 am japan time and they then tried to order about 3-4 hours later. I have had them buy things very quickly sometimes but most of the time it was slow.

Maybe their workers are slow getting through orders in the morning or something.
>>
>>9710570
Another anon, but when I order from Mercari, it always takes a day before it is ordered. But that’s probably the time difference, as they stop working when I wake up. They also often ask for a confirmation before they order, in those cases it takes two days before they order. (Except for the moments when I put my alarm for it. Then I wake up around 1:00 and wait for the confirmation mail.)
>>
>>9710187
>I tried to use mintkismet a few times but she sucks, first time she couldn't get my item (understandable) second time she sold the item I was buying to someone else because I didn't give her my pp quick enough, when she didn't specify that first priority was to the first who provides pp.
Holy fuck that's bad
>>
>>9710187
>she sold the item I was buying to someone else because I didn't give her my pp quick enough, when she didn't specify that first priority was to the first who provides pp

This is just like the basics of selling something online, person who pays first gets it. Did you ask her to hold the item for you and she said yes and sold it someone else anyways?
>>
I like japanica. I hate fromjapan. I deleted my account from them.
>>
>>9710807
No it's not, it usually goes to the first person who messages about it, unless they specifically state they require pp first. Been selling online for 10+ years on multiple platforms.
>>
>>9710330
>>9710332
I've never gotten a message from Zenmarket that anyone committed fraud. They just flat out say the sites don't accept shopping services. Why lie about that?

It sucks because I did use zenmarket to buy something off of fril and the experience was good.

>>9710336
Why do you need a shopping service for closet child?
>>
>>9710844
>Why do you need a shopping service for closet child?
I sometimes prefer using ZM to buy from CC so I can add those items to my orders and have them shipped together with things I've bought from other places. I buy from CC directly if I suspect that ZM won't be quick enough to get what I want, though.
>>
>>9710839
That's just not true for the majority of selling platforms. You can't control it if you're using a something like ebay or Lacemarket. Someone could buy a listing while others may be going back and forth with the seller in private message. Do you expect them to deactivate and hold it once one person shows interest?
>>
>>9710903
It wasn't on a selling platform.

mintkismet is a shopping service. She buys things for people in Japan. If she sells something you asked her to buy to someone else, that makes her a pretty unreliable shopping service. People above weren't talking about being outbid or something.
>>
>>9710920
I don't come to cgl often anymore, but I was alerted to this situation and want to clear things up.
The scenario >>9710187 is referring to was when I was selling some bags from Swimmer on my page. While they took 30 minutes to decide whether or not to purchase, another customer committed immediately. I never gave any indication that it was being held for them or that they were even first in line. It was not a shopping service order.
After this incident, in order to make things more straightforward, I switched to selling on Storenvy instead.
Had op not blocked me, I would have offered to go buy another bag specifically for her, as I have done for customers who have items sell from their carts when I restock my store.
In addition, they have never employed me as a shopping service, the only other message I have from them is regarding a rerelease that didn't include the item they were looking for.

I can provide screenshots, but I don't want to drag this further than necessary.
>>
>>9710925
>alerted to the situation
kek
>>
>>9710925
wow, i'm surprised you remembered, you're still unprofessional and a pile of shit in my book ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
anyways, tenshi never lets anybody down, sage for ot, let's continue talking about what really matters.
>>
>>9710927
Who are you so I can never sell anything to you
>>
>>9710925
It doesn't matter if you were going to "offer to buy them another one" because you sold it off to somebody else..
>>
>>9710839
I call bullshit on your experience. PayPal first was a common thing when lj was used still because of flakes. Common sense is to put your money up to get in line.
>>
>>9710927
Are you ok because you sound extremely salted over a $10 swimmer purse, anon
>>
>>9710865
It's more about consolidating shipping. If you order stuff from several places, it can be cheeper to pay international shipping one time.

You might want to take a break from blocking random shopping services and throwing shitfits on cgl because I'm seriously embarrassed for you. Good luck getting your Swimmer purse I guess?
>>
>>9710317
But FromJapan is also 300 yen per item with the basic forwarding plan, and they don't have a consolidation fee anymore, plus they're fast and helpful. They can buy from Fril but not Mercari.
>>
>>9710300
>>9710317
I love ZM. I use them mainly for proxy bidding, and since I'm controlling those myself, I don't have a problem with slowness. I've saved so much on Y!A hauls since switching from Buyee (which was nice, but the fees always ended up being ridiculous). Their customer service has also been really helpful whenever I had questions about items.

I really like Tenshi for Fril/Mercari, although I'm curious if there are other reliably fast SS for those times when it's busy and she gets bogged down. An anon mentioned japanshoppingservice.jp in one of the other threads but I've never heard about them otherwise.

Also, has anyone else bought from Marui One online, and if so, what do you use? I've always used Tenso to shop there, but suddenly started having issues a couple months ago. Not sure if they've changed their policy about Tenso addresses or foreign credit cards.
>>
>>9710839
...no? The amount of flakes I deal with when selling my own stuff on Lacemarket is unreal. I can't imagine waiting around for every single person to decide if they want to buy an item if someone else throws their PayPal address at me. Money talks. Sounds like you just suck.

A shopping service can mark down packages unlike clositchild. Even with the commission some people can save a ton on tax.
>>

Where are all these fb screen shots right? Pretty sure this is some vendetta bullshit and that wasn't mk posting here.
>>
>>9710927
>tenshi never lets anybody down
Tenshi let me down 4/4 times so I've stopped trying. She's nice and quick to respond during Japanese waking hours, but I kind of wonder if she favors "VIP" repeat shoppers or something.
>>
>>9710942
>I blocked her after she told me she sold it to somebody else

looooooooooool omg
>>
>>9711047
Probably, those are the people that spout she's the best and repeatedly spend money with her. Makes sense for her, but I'll never use her because of her pricing.
>>
>>9711047
i get the saame feeling that she definitely has favourites, shes always very "brief" with me, and requires upfront payment every time even though ive got plenty of positive feedback and ive done multiple expensive orders with her and always paid within hours of the invoice - while i get it from a business standpoint, the back and forth of this makes ordering desirable items from mercari/fril take so long that its not worth it and im better off with japonica honestly
>>

>>
>>9711087
>>9711047
Sorry but this is weird to assume if you haven't seen her emails.

Why do customers always want their asses licked?
>>
MuuhSS is great for Tokyo stuff! She does work full-time so for more urgent bids other options might be better.
>>
>>9711047
Could be that she's following the 80/20 rule of business.
>>
>>9710946
At an anime con, like 50 other girls who are all claiming to be “lolita models”. Call me when you’re at Angeliclailah level
>>
>>9711122
She has so many pictures with misako stop. She lives the dream in Japan. Why the fuck would she be posting here.
>>
>>9710903
I've put a listing on hold only once and the buyer I'd been messaging did buy it when she said she'd be able to. Have I been doing this wrong?

>>9710963
Seconding this question . . .

>>9710978
Wow, really? I'm honestly curious: do they PM about holds, or just buy and then . . . not commit? I've been PMed before when I lost a bid because the person who won flaked out. That just sounds like terrible manners.

I've only used Tenshi, she's pretty great. Even held some (small) stuff so shipping could be combined. I've always been too nervous to try to go through an individual for time-sensitive auctions though.
>>
>>9711101
I don't, her service is good! Just whenever I've ordered from her she's no faster than something like japonica, I've just never had the glowing experience other people have had with her communication
>>
>>9711163
Well I'm not a huge repeat customer of hers cause I buy I dresses from everywhere but she's always super nice with me and doesnt seem short or rushed even during huge ap releases.

It just sounds like you guys are reading too much into something that probably isn't happening.
>>
>>9711087
>>9711047
i've only had fantastic experiences with her but i'm certainly no big-spender VIP repeat shopper or anything. i've maybe used her service 3 times over the past year, and she treated me extremely well even the first time.

but i mean, it would make sense if she served reliable customers with more vigor. i don't see why it would be a big deal if she did?
>>
>>9711079
Yeah, she's pricey for small items.
>>
>>9710963
>>9710970
I bought from Mercai through Japonica in the last two weeks. They’re a little but generally respond to messages with 24 hours, which I chalk up to time differences. Since theyre one of the only services that do buy from fril/Mercari, they get backed up sometimes but they’re generally good at letting you know that’s the case
>>
>>9711520
*alittle slow
>>
>>9711047
Can say the same, I'd always paid her quickly and bought expensive main pieces through her. She used to respond quickly but around 2 years ago but she became crappy at answering emails and I felt ignored since some people were saying she still replied fast for them. Took my business elsewhere and found people who were way more friendly for the same fee or even less. No regrets, she's definitely got favorites and I'd rather give my money to someone else.
>>
>>9711514
I ordered some mercari and fril items under 500 yen from Tenshi which were buy it now, I had no idea she was going to apply the 500 fee to each item since it wasn't the same as an auction, plus her TOS didn't have the information about app services which she updated after the sale - I thought she might put a 25% commission fee even on the items which I would have been okay with. I've used her as my only JP SS for years now but I ended up paying 100-150% commission fees on each small item I wanted and my order turned out hundreds of dollars more than I expected.
I'm conflicted because she's always been great but I just wanted to treat my comm to some cute steals from fril/mercari but because of the fees situation it's left a bitter taste in my mouth.
>>
>>9711751
Is tenshi japanese?
>>
>>9711751
Have any other personal ss recommendations? Only used tenshi twice but don't like her. She only required upfront payment the first time, but she was the same speed as my normal non personal sses.
>>
I'm moving back to Japan for graduate school in March and was thinking of opening a personal SS with lowish fees for extra pocket money. (I love shopping, but hate spending my own money) Is there enough interest for another Tokyo based service? I'd probably be able to do Fril/Mercari to a point too, I speak Japanese, but my foreign last name might bother some sellers.
>>
>>9711751
ooooooooooo
>>
>>9711995
I'd be interested in a fril/mercari service if its cheaper or faster than the ones already out there. Business wise I'm not sure how feasible that would be if at all.
>>
>>9711995
I'm interested - what fees will you be charging?
>>
>>9710963
Momoirokumasan
>>
>>9710986
I actually agree with her. If you want to sell it to the person who pays first, you should say so. Sellers write something in their sales post like "item goes to the person who provides PayPal address first".
>>
>>9712142
>Momoirokumasan
Is this a joke? I googled the name and it doesn't seem like the person has been active for several years, at least under this username.

>>9711960

>>
>>9712203

Sure, it's a joke, her having to deal with more stupidity will only make her even slower anyway
>>
>>9712143
You missed the point
>>
I've been using Acciotokyo for about 2 years now and have loved them! They don't do auction sites, but fril/mericari is fine. They also do in store shopping.
I've enjoyed using them since they're very communicative and since their website update I've been able to see more information about my items (arrival date, how many items, shipping dates, etc.)
The fees are nominal desu, nothing outrageous has stuck out for me.
>>
>>9711995
I would be interested, especially if the pricing was competitive for small items. I don't tend to get anything expensive off Fril/mercari so that would be a great option to have.
>>
>>9711122
lailah was always a terrible lolita before AP started dressing her....
Actually I don't even really consider her a lolita, since she had one fucking dress that she wore to every single con for years. Lailah is the definition of a conlita, she just got lucky modeling for ap because shes asian.
>>
>>9714054
I’m having trouble with making an account with acciotokyo, maybe cause I’m in mobile byt thank you for the recommendation! Do you have any websites you order stuff from?
>>
>>9710975
They charge you the bank transfer fees, which is usually 500-700 yen per piece on top of everything, which adds up very quickly. ZM is slower, but they're much more transparent about their fees.
>>
>>9714054
I will check this out. Their fee is only 495 yen apparently, or $4.40, which is a little cheaper than Chibi Tenshi or Japonica for buying from fril/mercari.

>>9710975
I heard From Japan has had some shady practices regarding fees. (The Charge 2 fee)

From Japan does ship surface mail if that means anything.
>>
Does anyone have a recommendation for an in-store Harajuku SS without crazy fees? Looking for a single item around $50.
>>
>>9714468
What is a crazy fee? It’s probably minimum $3-5 round trip for train, plus your SS’s time, storage in their house, going to the post office - which if they work normal hours on weekdays will probably have to take train again to a larger location open on weekends. That’s roughly $5-10 for transport, plus at least a few hours of their time. Idg people expecting an SS to do stuff for $1-2 profit...
>>
>>9714530
I SS'd for a few people when I was studying abroad in Japan a couple of years back, and people were ridiculously demanding and cheap. I'd love to have a side hustle similar to Tenshi, but I don't think I could handle the customers desu.
>>
>>9714530
I don't know if I'm bad at Google or what but the only one I found had almost $40 fee. That's not $1 or $2 of profit, I can't justify a $90 + int. shipping t shirt. I don't think that's demanding or cheap?
>>
>>9714540
I agree anon.
Considering subway fee (assuming they live in Tokyo) is 800 yen for unlimited pass. PayPal is 2.9%+$0.30. Minimum wage is 780 yen.
So if your item is $50 and we assume they want to make 1000 yen per hour and it takes them 1 hour to buy the shirt and 1 hour to package and ship the shirt, that means it should be around 2800 yen to do it. So $25 and $2.50 PayPal fee for a $50 item. I'm assuming they want more per hour or you're paying company overhead fees.
>>
>>9714453
Ditto on the FJ charge two fees. I've been hit by $40+ charge two fees multiple times even on their new system. It used to be worse before they switched fee models ($80+ was the norm).
>>
Whenever I buy from mercari/fril, I always use Japonica. I keep seeing people in this thread say that they're slow but I guess I just don't notice because it's never been a problem. I just place my order, next day I get an email with the order status (either "win" or "bid" depending on if the seller said it was okay to order immediately), and usually a day or two later they ask me if it's okay to invoice me for shipping and boom.

Also I don't know if any of you know this but I emailed them and they will negotiate prices for you if you want. I'll copy and paste what they sent me so I don't explain it wrong:

If you have the best offer. Please use the following phrase.

I want to offer XXXX JPY. I'm willing to pay the full price.
I want to offer XXXX JPY. I'm willing to pay up to XXXX JPY

We are able to negotiate only once.
If the seller dose not accept your offer.
You cannot order it again.

Also We are not able to make your best offer if it is different from market price.
Also We may change your best offer price in our judgment.
Also We are not able to make your best offer for items under 1000 JPY."
>>
>>9714367
where you able to get it fixed? if anything you can e-mail them to let them know you want to make an account. they're very friendly, but small so sometimes their website acts out times (rare though).

I order from mercari, fril, and any online shop that isn't auction. They have an option where you allow them to pay for domestic shipping (upto a certain amount) and they'll bill you for that afterwards or you can choose to let them let you know how much domestic shipping will be for your order BEFORE they order.

I always opt for letting them order is asap and I'll pay the fee later since I always check in advance how much it'll be since some websites give you free domestic shipping once you buy a certain amount.
>>
>>9714540
A $40 fee is very high unless you were buying a super expensive item.

>>9715021
Most SS don't charge an hourly rate. They charge a percentage of the cost of the item and then the customer is responsible for any other costs such as paypal fees or transportation like you mentioned. They might charge a higher fee for something like an AP release that requires they get there early and spend a couple hours in line/buying the items.
>>
>>9711974
Someone posted a photo of her from an event a while ago and she's not Asian

>>9711984
Muuh is very fast but also asks for payment upfront

>>9714054
No thanks. Every time Accio used to go in store for me, her fees ended up being half the cost of the things that I bought. She's a huge rip off too, other shopping services will let you know how many people they are shopping for and split transport fees and waiting fees, but Accio just charges every one. Accessories always end up being double or triple the retail price once her fees are added on, and main pieces around 1.5 to 2 times retail price if she goes in store.

I realize, I was referring to in store only. Most charge an obnoxiously high flat rate + the additional fees.
>>
>>9715664
oh wow i never knew her prices where high for in-store purchases. I've only used her for online stuff, so thanks for mentioning this!
>>
has anyone used the forwarding service "2you4"? Currently using FJ since it's the cheapest.
>>
Can anyone recommend a SS for online ordering a custom item that won't even be shipped out until March? Or does it not matter? I just don't want an SS that will forget about me or ghost me and make an already long wait even longer idk.
>>
Has anyone ordered non lolita items from Accio Tokyo or Chibi Tenshi?

Ring Doll is releasing Levi & Eren BJD's exclusive to China and Japan, and I'd like to try to obtain one.
>>
>>9716080
She charges for her queuing time and never updates while she's there, so it's hard to confirm if she actually waited for the length of time she says she did.
I asked her to go in store for a very popular release in 2016, and I knew she was going for several other people as I couldn't get a spot for my preferred colorway or cut. Her first 30 minutes wait time were free, with 1500 yen charged for every hour after ON TOP of her 15% fee. Plus, the wait fees were non-refundable. I mean, it's understandable from a "I don't want to waste my time" point of view but at least be honest about how many people you're shopping for and let them split the wait time fees?
I did just check the AccioTokyo website and it doesn't look like they offer in store services any more / at the moment.
>extra salty

>>9717272
It doesn't matter a whole lot if it's prepaid, just go with someone reputable. I did have an item I'd preordered slip away from me because the shopping service I used didn't buy it correctly and we only realised when other people were getting their items shipped. I'd also keep an eye on it just in case and remind them closer to the shipping date.

>>9717610
I've seen people talk about both services getting them signed books at events and concert tickets?

CT is really easy to order non lolita items from. The process works exactly the same as for ordering lolita goods.
>>
>>9714411
Although I agree that their fees tend to add up quickly, their bank transfer fee is explicitly 200yen on their payment structure page, not 500-700. It adds up if you're purchasing from y!aj since all items from there are hit by the fee.

>>9715046
I recently tried them to see how different it would be from ZM (which is my usual ss) and I paid about 40$ as well on my last order. But when reading the content table they provide with all the costs, it all made sense? Before I got the charge 2 bill, I made a rough calculation of how much I'd be paying in fees and it was a pretty good match. It's not cheap but I didn't feel it was "shady"? Their fees are all explained on their site.
I just used them this time because my gf had a ZM order open and kept complaining they were taking ages to order her items and that they kept getting sold out. Truth be told, I made my order with FJ after she placed hers on ZM and all my stuff got ordered, received at their warehouse and shipped to me while she was still waiting for her stuff to reach ZM's warehouse.
I guess they're not the cheapest option but I honestly don't think they're shady at all.

Japonica is good in that they can order from mercaright but recently I've noticed they don't offer my initial offer, they go straight for the 'I'll pay up to xxxx". They also won't negotiate if they feel the seller might be 'nervous' , even when you are offering retail.

From Japan recently sent me the wrong sizes item after I paid for their checking service, ignored me until I opened a PayPal claim, refused to pay for shipping back ( putting me down £70 in shipping) and said the item would have to be marked to avoid custom fees meaning if the item costing almost £200 was damaged I'd be screwed. PayPal said to open a direct bank claim against them.
>>
I'm waiting on some items to ship to me From Japan via unregistered SAL...Does anyone know how long it takes? It shipped about a week ago and I heard that the average wait time is a month but that's not during holidays.
>>
>>9718247
I don't use SAL parcel, but SAL e-packet usually takes 3 weeks to get to me. I live in the US.

Ordering for the first time with Chibi Tenshi for a bunch of non-lolita items from Mercari.
There are some ups, some downs, but I just noticed that one of the items I want haven't got a reply from seller in three years. I asked Tenshi to switch to another listing, that just popped up. If she manages to get the item for me, I will love her forever.
The communications have been great so far, her English is clearly great. For an earring listing that I wasn't aware could be single, she deduced from my use of plural word that I want a pair; it got a little pricier for two pieces, but I don't mind at all.
The quality service I have got so far is surely worth the fees, even though I was very sceptical at first. If she manages to get all the items I want, she will be forever my go-to SS for Japanese shopping.
>>
>>9719927
Chibi Tenshi is not Japanese anon, English is her first language.
>>
>>9719942
I was aware she wasn't Japanese, and suspected that she could be native. The point was, it makes the experience much better than with people who do not know the language on such a high level (like services hiring multiple people – locals).
>>
Just to let everyone know, Tenshi uses a currency rate of 1 yen = 1 USD. Wish she went by the actual yen conversion rate (but she states that her bank determines the rate but even so, 1 yen should not equal 1 usd).
>>
>>9719960
You mean ¥100 = $1.00 right? If not that's a massive ripoff.
>>
>>9719960
Yikes, thats like a 12% increase in price. If she's charging 10% commission fee on top of that then yea massive rip off.
>>
>>9719963
Yea, for a recent order i had with her she charged me $25 for a 2500 yen item.
>>
>>9719968
Yep paid $25 for item, and her fees (including the international shipping was like another $25). I picked the cheapest shipping method she offered...her fees are crazy but I'll only use her services for those sellers or stores that won't do business with the bigger proxy companies.
>>
>>9719960
She’s lived in Japan for so long but doesn’t have a Japanese PP account? Hmm...
Probably doesn’t report her earnings for taxes either. And she gets the discounts from filling up point cards.
Makes bank enough to support her and her deadbeat husband

>>
>>9719997
I am pretty sure she doesn't report the money she makes to the IRS.
>>
>>9719960
That doesn't sound right. Just checked her terms of service, she has a section on Currency Conversion:
>Items purchased are denominated in Japanese Yen, but you will be invoiced in US Dollars.
>A US based bank/bank card is used for all shopping service purchases. The exchange rate given is dictated by my bank, which does not use the “market” rate (the one found on Google, xe.com, etc).
>In general the given rate is about 4 yen lower than the market rate.
>For example, if the market rate is 105 yen to the dollar, I will pay around 101 yen to the dollar.
>The rate used for your service corresponds to the rate on the day your item(s) were purchased.
She's silly for using US bank/card for payments in Yen, tho.
>>
>>9720284
Yea she states that on her terms but she still charges 100 yen for 1 USD when I paid her.
(That day I paid her, google or the "market" rate, was around 1 USD = 112 yen. So going by what she's written, her bank rate will charge around 1 USD = 108 yen....)

Just letting you guys know that if you use her service, that's the exchange rate she uses.

*shrugs*
>>
>>9720180
She probably does, actually. Either way, her foreign earned income won't be taxed if it's under like $100k a year.
One of the reasons CT refuses to accept gift payments and various other things is that she does run her SS like a legitimate business, and doing that sort of thing would cause tax and legal issues.
If you don't like her or whoever else, fine, but really, why go spreading shit?
>>
Does momoirokumasan only operate through LJ?
>>
>>9720426
Read her rules. You need an lj account, feedback and email
>>
>>9720426
You have to email her. I just want to say if you need something quickly don't use her, she probably has a fulltime job 'cause she isn't fast. But if you need something commissioned, alerted, special packaging, want to haggle or have any questions for a Japanese shop/seller, she is the best and doesn't charge extra for it.
>>
I might be moving to japan in the near future, and I have a high interest in doing SS work, not just for jfashion but for other random items. I don't suppose anybody has any advise for how to go about doing it, things to consider etc? Of course not anytime soon, but I have been thinking about it for a few years.
I already have selling experience which I think is good.
>>
Anyone use Buyee? What do ye think of them?
>>
>>9720623
I've never used them because they're expensive but you can simply google their reviews.
>>
>>9720482
If you're going to go about it seriously, there a lot of things to consider. You need to think about starting a legit business, taxes, storage space, a website/social media, organizing orders and keeping track of shipping, where you're going to live (what you can easily get to/offer for your service), your fee structure, invoicing procedures (charging the base price, then a second invoice for shipping), etc. You're not going to want to spend an hour+ on the train, spend time shopping for a $50 item and only make $5-10 profit, for example. If you have enough business that you can pick up multiple orders in the same trip, that would be worth it though.
>>
Did FJ ever order the wrong item? I want to buy a specific key chain from this listing that shows a bunch of items in the lot. I specified the item name and attached the picture of the item and FJ sent me the charge 1 request but I want to ask here.

Thanks peeps! :D
>>
>>9720623

Not even that anon, but thanks for that info. Moving next year and I'm hoping to do SS'ing on the side too but I'm going to be based in the middle of woop woop so I might have to focus on fril/mercari and only travel up for big tea parties I suppose.
>>
>>9711047
I must be a "Tenshi VIP" then. She always just buys my items as soon as she sees them and invoices me after. Super fast and communicative emails so of course I'll keep using her. Of course, at this time I have done 6+ $100-$200+ hauls with her probably. I've lost count.

Interesting to hear, though.

>>
>>9720859

>>
>>9720762
I don't think it's worth it to do a SS if you want to make a lot of profit and make it a serious business. Unless you think you can become as big as FromJapan or something. You just have to enjoy the shopping and talking with lolitas from all over the world.
>>
>>9718247
SAL is at least faster that surface mail I bet. I normally just go with Airmail though, I hate waiting weeks
>>
>>9721052
If you're running a service just for fun, and not thinking about most of those things, you're probably not very good at it.
>>
From Japan is dumb. Ordered & paid for item that was supposed to go on sale on the 15th but when From Japan went to buy it, it was sold out (because they tried buying the item on the 14th). The product page clearly states that the sale will begin on the 15th. They refunded me and I requested the same item again to be bought. Ugh.
>>
>>9721082
Those people are probably going to do some sort of exchange or temporary teaching job, their SS isn't the deciding factor on where they're going to live and they won't be able to register as a legit business. For storage you need like 1 cupboard. Taxes you only pay if you have a business that makes enough money and if you are not there on a student or tourist visa.
>>

Not really, most Japanese stores don’t use PayPal and if they use PayPal those stores already ship overseas. For some you can pay by bank transfer, but I don’t know if that works for sending money from an oberseas account to a Japanese account.
>>

>>
>>9729581
but the maximum fee paypal charges is 3,4%
>>
>>9729584

overcharging then... in that case, CT is the worst since she has paypal fee, transport fee and also currency exchange. 1 usd is not 100yen, even a moneychanger with commission gives a better rate than that

>>
>>9729838
Yeah, they want 4950+600 for an in store purchase as long as it’s in downtown Tokyo, which I would have to double check but I’m pretty sure it is, and since it’s a preorder it’s 1500 for the trip to pick it up at release. As far as I can see there no rate fee on the price of the item, but they have the 4.45%+40 money processing fee, and shipment for a game by unregistered SAL small packet I’m going to assume between 2k and 3k, add that all to the game price and I’m looking at 18k for one fucking game
>>
>>9729587
I wonder why she lies on her website about the conversion rate..hmm

Sorry for not reporting in earlier, Zozotown has like everything including used. Pic related was my haul, not very uguu but I needed it.
>>
>>9734400
wtf.. why is it so expensive for such simple clothing, it's like Nordstrom or sacs..
>>
>>9734423
For a nice 2-piece 100% wool suit, $200 or so is a steal, and I particularly like the cut of both.
The coat is 90% wool with adjustable authentic fox fur.
Leggings were a splurge also 100% wool because its freezing and I wanted the extra warmth.

So the cost is completely my fault since I absolutely hate synthetics and avoid it if at all possible. The majority of clothing on there is a lot cheaper and synthetic or synthetic blend.

My potentially outdated 2 cents:
Japonica's been pretty reliable in my experience. They don't overcharge on shipping and hope you don't notice like FromJapan did to me a few years ago (stopped using them 'cause of what I'm gonna say next). FJ also sucks in that if you get scammed by a seller they will spend zero time and effort on your side even if they haven't paid yet and the seller is clearly breaking rules and being deceptive. I won something that looked like an auction at a reasonable price except for one line of hidden text at the very bottom that said the buyer had to pay 30000yen more to get the item and FJ basically said "we're gonna pay the seller anyway so pay up or we'll block you". Fuck that noise. They can take the 30000yen deficit while I take my business elsewhere.
>>
>>9743503
Um, desu what you wrote sounds like your own fault. You just didn't read the listing that carefully.
>>
>>9743649
What part of "hidden text" do you not understand? The seller abused formatting so that that line was not readable.
>>
>>9743649
At any rate, FJ was not authorized to spend money on my behalf without my permission. I was fine with the original bid being a sunk cost since FJ's not required to dispute for me but they went full retard by spending money that's not theirs.
>>
I always thought that shipping a huge order would be way more economical compared to shipping a smaller one, but apparently this isn't the case at least with Zenmarket. Shipping a 5000g packet through DHL Direct is $50 while shipping a 10,000g packet through Fedex is $100.

Is there something wrong with DHL Direct? Because I don't understand how it can be so much cheaper and faster than SAL. Otherwise I feel tempted to stick with Zenmarket for non-fril, non-urgent orders just because DHL Direct shipping is so cheap and a lot of other SSs don't seem to offer it.

Some few years back DHL had a rep for clearing your parcel through customs and then slapping you with 2x - 3x the actual customs charge that you have to pay before they'll hand over the parcel. What's weird is some countries like the US shouldn't even get charged but apparently DHL sometimes fucks up and declares your parcel incorrectly and buyers end up getting charged for customs anyway.

Like I said though, it's a few years back. I hear they've improved, and maybe the dropped prices is a reflection on complaints.

She did, they claimed that they "confirmed with staff" all the items were in the package when it was sent out after she emailed them.

Gotta know if she's the ita of >>9745615 's dreams.

Tenshi doesn't follow directions. I told her to include my phone # for shipping and gave it to her when I paid. Package came with messy handwriting and no phone number was included. She left that field blank, lol. On her website, she's like: "I can include your phone # on the package, just remember to tell me when you make payment (:" I'm surprised that the package was delivered. Also, a man's name was written as the sender. Tenshi's real name will forever be a mystery...

She's always put her name on the return address on my parcels; maybe she got someone else to mail it that time?

>>9745615
Can confirm not fat or ita but she doesn't post pics publicly, let's respect her privacy.

Anyone from the US order from Zenmarket & used the DHL Direct shipping option? I heard some people saying that they got hit with customs when they used it. Seems like the cheapest option for anything over 2kg.
>>
>>9747411
I've used it with no problems, anon. Just be aware that USPS is the final courier.
>>
>>9747411
You only get hit with customs charges if the value is listed over $800USD now, so unless you're REALLY hauling, I wouldn't be worried.

I've seen $60 tights at fucking NordstromRACK which is supposed to be the cheaper version... but I also got a $30 umbrella at Nordstrom. It varies.

Are there any shopping services that are willing to make offers to Yahoo Auctions seller?
>>
>>9754473
Probably not. Unless the seller explicitly states offers are accepted, it’s rude.

I know this thread is for Japanese shopping services, but does anyone know reliable korean shopping services? I just need someone to buy decently priced jewelery online for me that wouldnt break the bank with their fees either.

Any recs for personal SS that do doujin events ? I've checked out Sunny Shopping's website and the Winter Comiket is mentioned so I assume they can handle it, but I was wondering if anyone here had done that before. There's an Ace Attorney doujin event in Tokyo in February and I was thinking of sending someone there.

Best SS for buying used japanese magazines??

Zenmarket or FromJapan.

Anyone else having EMS delays? Package shipped on the 10th and it still hasn't left Japan yet. $60 shipping fee and it's slow. T_T
>>
>>9714054
Do they mark down the packages ?
>>
>>9756569

I recommend SunnyShopping. They helped me get some Tsukipro doujin and even did the kuji for me, plus the handwritten note and freebie is cute.

the only downside is that they're a little inexperienced, but I emailed them all the event information and it worked out fine and she even queued twice for me since there was a per person limit.
