>>9774303My Luka loving self at 13 is crying
>>9774303Smart use of the flowers! Took me a moment to get it the rosette is nicely positioned too
>>9774116 still need some help on this! a lot of people are saying turquoise but my /cgl/ irl friend is saying grey. still not sure
>>9774336>The "No Facebook Trash" EditionPlease lurk more in the future. But since I'm not a total dick go for teal.
>>9774343lmao fairsi do lurk a little but obvs not enough? didn't see the op
>>9774344Can't tell if bait but yeah lurk more. Also get more official merch, he's certainly not short of it.
>>9774336I second the teal!Make sure you beef up your bag with a little more mech/decorations so it wont look so empty Good luck anon, k1-b0 is my fave~I hope ya'll are ready for the Valentine's day posts flooding the FB group
>>9774359*soon to flood
>>9774355no bait, i'm just retardedyeah, i'm doing so! thanks for the tip, it's a little harder bc i'm a britfag; the only merch i can get is fromjapan auctions and overpriced ebay atm.>>9774359i'm probably gonna go with teal then desu, thank you! this is definitely still a wip, i'm not calling it finished just yet of course. just starting to put it together so i can add-as-i-go. thank you!
>>9774359At least we know we can easily do better than whatever they come up with.
>>9774359Thanks for the reminder!! I was actually planning on putting together a V-day shrine post and this'll give me lots of time to prep for it.
does anyone have a link to the DIY badge cover tutorial? i dug through the FAQ links but i couldn't find it there anymore. i can't remember what shape the vinyl needs to be for it.
Does anyone know any other good places to check for fanmade merch? I'm constructing a Phos itabag but I've checked all of the major ones listed in the FAQ already
>>9774467If you've already checked Etsy/Storenvy/Tictail... the other best options are to go visit the Artist Alley at a con or follow some artists on Twitter who do art for that fandom. If you're specifically looking for Phos merch - komunhorangi, kyupls, and deadsidekicks on Twitter have some really nice HnK keychains! You can try asking in the AA thread too and see if any of the anons will link their own stores.
>>9774467I would do a search on Twitter for your fandom plus “charm.” A lot of time I see items on those major sites like Tictail and Etsy but don’t actually find them using the main search. Some overseas artists also just use google forms
>>9774476Sorry for doublepost but I also forgot to list mallius and oldzio! I hope this helps anon!
>>9774312Is that a piece of a yoga mat used as the background? Kinda smart...
>>9774368Try using FJ's search bar. I've found some can badges priced at 300 yen for him on Rakuten using this.
>>9774480>>9774476Thank you both! especially first anon for the specific artist selections, they look fantastic
Any advice on a better insert fabric? This gengar one I'm using is way too stretchy and droops, kinda feels like too much purple too. Maybe I should try a red insert? If anyone has some cute decorations in mind I'd love to hear it too. Also not a fan of the heart bag I got since I prefer square bags but Morty has so little merch I thought I'd be better off with it. I might hunt around for a small square bag to switch over to.
>>9774586You can always use iron-on interfacing if you wanted to keep the fabric stiff, otherwise I would pick something black/darkish instead of red
>>9774280i'll never be over how precious this bag is
So I'm crazy about Karl Pilkington from An Idiot Abroad (and other shows). As expected, there's 0 merch of him besides some redbubble stickers. Would printing out screenshots from the show and laminating them be lame? Should I get buttons printed of said screenshots? I've never built and ita/badge bag so if you have suggestions for me thanks!
>>9774645Don't saturate your bag too much with laminated print outs. A centrepiece might be fine but otherwise get buttons printed.
>>9774645Print buttons and if you can add other elements that might hint at running gags from the show. You could even get buttons with quotes or use artsmoo to print his face on fabric for a backing.
>>9774645Please post your bag when you're done. I love Karl so much.
Anyone got experience with anikuji and how often they restock? Pic unrelated, just something I hate myself for.
>>9774359>Valentines day postsI will make sure to do something extra as fuck so they know I'm better than themI'm kidding sorta, itabagging is not a competition but man I want to have the best bag and make good solid posts
>>9774300$2/piece for what appears to be small batch custom cut acrylic isn't actually all that bad.Although If it were me I'd insist on providing my own vector file because they are clearly incapable of picking aesthetically pleasing fonts.
From a newbie who doesn't want to ask a stupid question on the facebook group: MFC= Must Find Charm? Is that right?
>>9775049Or MyFigureCollection. Hard to say without context.
>>9774997>itabagging is not a competitionI wish this mindset was more common. I'd rather spend a fuck ton of money on a couple really good bags than have multiple mediocre at best bags. It's also irritating when people rush to make bags for characters that were just introduced so that they can say that they were the FiRsT!!!1!!!11! to make a bag of that character.
>>9775006Starts at $2 per letter. The cheap ones on the outside are probably the $2 ones. There's no prices for the ones in the window.
>>9775117It'd be different if you were buying pre-made letters ready to ship, but you're also paying them to adjust the font/colors/size to your preferences and making sure it all comes out ok in their machine. The custom applique name patches I've bought from etsy were in a similar price range
>>9775207too bad you seem to be out of luck here if your preference is for it to not look like shit
>>9774586I actually really love that gengar insert. At first I thought your bag and packed w/ merch, since gengars fill the empty space between the actual items. You could try attaching it to foam and then pinning everything through it.
>>9774476>>9774525Thanks for the name drops. I'm also making a Phos itabag and I regret not combing through the ALA AA godammit.Anyway I saved stuff on twitter and I'm currently waiting for these artists to reopen their shop/restock:borketto/status/953043233289912320Aluhnim/status/958133217046953984hasuyawwn/status/942176535833862144whitevoix/status/939356876654854144melongifts/status/954142042766106624 (it's still in stock? wow)villainsbn/status/956640066926972928There was someone else who discontinued theirs and they had all 4 versions of Phos. Disappointing.
>>9775499I've even heard of people unlisting their merch because of the callout post that went around for Ichikawa... it's really a damn shame because I would have thrown a ridiculous amount of money at them. I'm looking forward to your bag though, anon! Ill probably be making some custom pieces for mine.
>>9775419I'm inclined to agree. I mean yeah letters are expensive but these scream ugly bag.
>>9774283Can I get the twitter source of this one?
>>9774355There's a line between dedicated and fucking ridiculous and she crossed it.
>>9775902are you sure you're in the right thread, anon? this may not be the place for you.
The owner of the kickstarter mentioned before has just posted this pic of the prototype bag. Thoughts?
>>9776036Just trying to photograph it is going to be a bitch and a half with that material for the bag. Is that a stitch line going down the center of the fabric in the widow? Why?
>>9776036looks like a tamagotchi
>>9776036This are ugly as fuck, holy shit.
>>9776036Literally any of the "stretch goal" bags would be better.
>>9776036it's ugly as hell, what characters can even match that bag?? Why the stupid stars on the bottom, all they do is distract you from the stuff in the window
>>9776036This could have been instantly saved with a matte material.
>>9776036Disgusting. I was looking forward to the coffin bag, what a shame.
>>9776175The coffin bag was literally the only one I would consider buying of all the designs she showed but not with that ugly shiny material for sure.
>>9776036I can't even think of one character that this would suit, and then I am a magical girl and idol fan, yet nothing would suit this
Speaking of bags - if you could change anything about the discontinued wego bags, what would it be? Color, ease of putting merch in there, etc?Or would you prefer a close as possible knock off?
>>9776219I'd kill to have this design in mint with a clear window rather than glitter.
>>9776219I would love this design a lot more if there was a small frame in pleather around the window part so you couldn't see the zipper
>>9776036Is it just me or was her post in the fb group deleted?
>>9774645Please have something to do with monkey news in your bag, anon.
>>9775902This is TAME compared to some shrines!>>9776036That may just be the ugliest thing I've ever seen in my life
>>9776036Expectations vs Reality comparison
>>9776341lmao, it's not even the same fucking shape.
Is it normal that my EMS package hasn't updated since Dispatch from Outward Office of Exchange on Thursday? I thought that meant it was on a plane and would be scanned when it landed, but neither postal system has updated it. Being on the west coast till now has spoiled me, I guess, I've gotten my EMS things in two days before.
>>9774997>I will make sure to do something extra as fuck so they know I'm better than themSquare up anon, I wanna do something ridiculous aswell so everyone knows who the real best waifu. The FB deserves to be shaken up with some good outrageous content t b h I think I'm going to actually buy/make a cake for my #1 girl, is that tacky? or not tacky enough?
I have two daughterus from different series, what should I do for valentines day? Two separate shrines like pic related?
>>9776427>shrine on top of a Home Depot plywood board
>>9776430It was from jp lmao. It's too bad that's the only place I can find im@s threads.
>>9776397Not tacky enough anon. You should do cookies or chocolates along with the cake!>>9776427Takane deserves so much better than this.
It's not a shrine until you're unable to enter the room
>>9776317the wego devil backpack would be way better for her.
>>9776317Yohane doesn't deserve this shiny monstrosity.
>>9776369It probably landed Thursday, got sorted on Friday to be scanned, and now it's the weekend.
>>9776470F U C K
>get a small bag for my first one since I'm afraid I won't have enough merch to fill it properly>it's way too small and now I'm having a hard time trying to organize it all in an attractive wayI will do you justice, I swear.
>>9776490This is exactly why I started buying the bag after my haul arrives. Nothing looks shitter than an empty bag, and it sucks when you can't fit all your merch in. Patience.
>>9776493I'm so anal about presentation when my husbando is involved I decided something small to learn from was best, especially considering there's not much merch of him that I can get in multiples anymore. I didn't realize how much I've been hoarding over the years, fuck me. Thanks anon, I'll just decide on an insert design and try to find a new, slightly bigger bag.
>>9776470Are Rin's fans always like this or are these just the same girl?
>>9776504All of the eleven freefags are autistic.
>>9776505>calling someone autistic in the itabag thread
>>9776538There's the autistic you have to be to do this in the first place and then there's JPFree! autism.
>>9776541sounds like your salty anon
>>9776546You're*And you're misinterpreting my statement as either bitter or angry; I'm just stating a truth. If anything, I'm a little envious there's enough to go around of the boys to do these things.
>>9776548>correcting my grammer mistakei'm embarrassed you had to stoop so low and yeah i hit the nail on the head you're salty that freefags can do what you wish you do with whatever 3rd rate character that's your husbando/waifu
Remember girlies, if you see some shit you want to buy and you're a little hesitant, just buy it before you regret it!
>>9776572god damn it anon i was going back and forth on these charms but ill get them
>>9776541There's a healthy obsession where you just have a bag of merch to show you really enjoyed a particular series. It doesn't affect your life and you enjoy the creative fashion aspect. Then theres you sold your kidney for attention on the internet and you'll regret this when you realize a fictional character can't take your virginity, which is the hoarding rooms. Then theres Betty who takes the stuff she bought for her children as her own, then claims she's a good parent while her children starve as she drops $1000 on a series she's never watched. Choose wisely
>>9776572Buyf/a/g here, can confirm.
>>9776583Feel like Betty should become a proper meme by now.
>>9776606> wanting to give an attentionwhore more attention
>>9776583>>9776606any screen caps?
>>9776609It's not like she'd see it here. She's too busy selling $40 items for $400.
I suppose it depends on the item but when buying merch which is marked up, what's the most you'll spend extra for it? What's your sort of limit? Like I have seen keychains which are, say, 1160yen each being sold elsewhere for $30+US and I'm wondering if it's worth it.
>>9776624It depends on the character tax and the circumstances. Merchandise from past live shows that have very little chance of being repeated, yearly birthday merchandise, and exclusives where I'd have had to line up all the goddamn day? I'll pay quite a bit. Regular stuff I'll just shop around for.
>>9776624I personally don't buy from US marketplaces. Ever. If it can be found there it can be found cheaper on a JP store. That being said there's no upper limit on what I'm willing to spend I've found; I've dropped easily 3-5x what the list price was for dupes of merch I own or originally missed on.
>>9776616> No Facebook trash editionSummary. Betty bought an itabag and a huge haul for her daughter, she'd never watched the show but her kid loved it. Her original post to the group made it extremely clear the bag was for the girl. She let's the kid wear the bag once then takes it off her as her own, claiming the bag was hers all along and she never intended for the daughter to have it. She got called out by someone and it spiralled into a shit storm of betty bullshitting and digging a huge grave for herself, all the time other people quoting her previous posts with her stating it was for her daughter. Basically "I bought you this but now I want it so I'm taking it because I paid for it", but to a fucking 7 year old girl.
>>9774645Is it even an itabag anymore when people make it for stuff like this? It's so far away from the original purpose, intentions and aesthetic. Makes me cringe, just call it a fan bag.
>>9776646>just call it a fan bag. That's what an itabag is. You make it to show you're a fan of something.
>>9776645We’re not even 100% sure the daughter is real or was just an excuse for spending and ass pats
>>9776648With those low standards anything passes then.
>>9776648>That's what an itabag isBut that's wrong though.
>>9776652No the daughter is real. But then I guess if you're a stay at home mom *coughprostitutecough* money comes rolling in.>>9776658Implying western itabaggers have standards lol
>>9776663Well, according to you what's an itabag?
>>9776646They're making it because they love the character. It's no fucking different than bags for anime characters aside from the fact they need to make basically all their merch.
>>9776646>>9776658>muh precious japanese trend musn't be tainted by westerners>is contributing to the trendMake up your mind.Anyway bag dump for the Karl Pilkington anon, this one's going out to you.
>>9776646An itabag is just showing so much obsession and devotion to a character that it's cringeworthy (hence the 'itai' root). If you love a character so much you'll make all the merch rather than just buying it, it's an itabag.
>>9776675It's not about Westerners doing it, it's about Westerners doing it wildly wrong. There are tons of Western bags that hold their own compared to the Japanese ones or would blend right in, not everyone misses the point.
>>9776677I thought the 'itai' came from the pain it causes your wallet/how heavy they can become when loaded with merch? I'm also someone that's working on a 'fan bag', but I I don't refer to it as an ita bag because it seems to me like the obsessive hunting and purchasing of merchandise is a key part of itabagging.
>>9776680What makes you think there aren't bad Japanese bags? Sorry, forgot their perfect in the eyes of the weebs.ANYWAY.
>>9776680The thing is there's so many shit bags. I can't understand for the life of me why people look at photos of the Japanese ones... Then completely get it wrong. This is a hobby built on presenting your collection. You don't need an A3 size tote and 20 dupe badges, you just need to display what you have ~*aesthetically*~ Heres a jp with few merch, but laid out better.
>>9776687> using a can badge on the outside when there's still space inside> laid out betterhuh...
>>9776684>no Facebook Trash edition
>>9776684>the obsessive hunting and purchasing of merchandise is a key part of itabaggingThis is exactly it. This is why laminating or making pin buttons out of printed screenshots doesn't count.
How is anon's Karl bag any different from the idol, seiyuu, or athlete itabags that Japanese people have made that have also been shared here? What if that anon were to go above and beyond with her bag and it ends up looking really good? If making your own merch for your bag because the person has little to no merch is such a bad thing, why is there a section in the FAQ for just that purpose? Are bags of characters from obscure series suddenly not itabags because someone had to make/commission the merch themselves?
>>9776695By that logic bags from Free!, YoI, Yowapeda, UtaPri etc. don't count unless they're made entirely from limited merch.
>>9776684That's all part of it but it all boils down to the obsessive/devoted aspect. Whether you're hunting down good pictures and materials and shit to make your own merch or you're slapping down $200 on a bunch of acrylic keychains, it's all itai.>>9776680Weeb
>>9776701You can obsessively purchase regular merch.
>>9776701Just supporting and collecting official merch is good enough as long as you're getting enough to pad your bag out even if its duplicates.
>>9776695Well now my bag is ruined, I've already laminated 50 screenshots of Luigi in bondage just waiting to be safety pinned to my tote bag!! Next you'll be telling me I can't decorate it with flowers or items relating to the character!>>9776699Well said.
Fuck us for having standards instead of wanting to see our third rate husbandos look like shit
>>9776713>ourYou can call your husbando 3rd rate all day but speak for yourself. Mine is top shelf.
>>9776713> calling your husbando third rateI bet you're one of those people that claim to be trash "ironically".
>>9776713you're embarrassing yourself at this point 3rd rate husband anon, just fucking stop
>>9776713I hope you don't kiss your mother with that mouth.
>>9776713Standards is wanting to see well put together, aesthetically pleasing bags, not getting pissy about who others choose to bag for and how they do it
Does anyone here have experience in reselling merch they didn't need? Like from a set where you only wanted one of the items or whatever. Did selling the item(s) go smoothly?
>>9776764This is really vague. You can sell merch so many different ways that not everyone is going to have the same experience.
>>9776713>calling your own husbando third ratenani
>>9776764depends where you're selling from and what fandom youre selling items from etc.I've had reasonable success selling stuff after buying a whole box, but only because it was a relatively popular series. For some series id never buy a whole set unless i can find a taker for at LEAST 3/4 of the items.
Sorry if this is a summer question, but does anyone have good inspo for rubber straps in heart-window bags? I just have such a hard time arranging my merch, because I can't determine what's more important to me, having every badge visible in the window (and having less merch visible), or having more merch but less of it visible (cut off by the sides of the bag). Thoughts, opinions? Or shame if this is a shitty question, lol.
Adding another western/live action bag to the pile. Found this one on twitter, and I believe the character is from american gods.>>9776918We can't decide what's important to you for you anon. You need to sort out your priorities for yourself
>>9776427>>9776430>>9776432must be a crossboarder and an extra stupid one, there's so many things wrong with that picture
>>9776675>>9776678>>9776682>>9776925>posting these as examples that anything can make a good itabag>THESE
>>9776701Prior thread someone said that's why a lot of the Japanese itabags are full of repeat badges, like >>9774355. Part of it is not just you going "I'm a fan and this is my husbando, see how much I love him“, it's also saying "look, I throw money at official merch so that the *producers* know it's profitable and continue making more of it". If the official source only gets the money you pay for one set of badges and you’re spending the rest on fan artists that they don’t make money from, they might cut their losses and cancel it, then you won’t have a second season or another game or whatever it was. That's why it's important that you buy whatever limited official merch there is, and buy a lot of it -- your itabag filled with many of that one single official pin is indirectly saying you're doing your part giving money to the show to have another season on air/a sequel/etc, so all lesser fans not spending money on official merch that encourages the producers to keep the show/game/comic on air/in print are, well, lesser fans.Really though, it's not a competition and I'm not encouraging any "spendier-than-thou" attitude, it's just something someone else explained in a prior thread that makes sense for why the Japanese bags seem to like showing off bags with many repeat official merch. It’s not like they don’t have enough fanartists at Comiket to make bags with fanart merch, it’s just not the reason they make itabags in the first place.
Oh my god are you guys fucking idiots. That comment was total sarcasm, the 3rd rate husband was making a mockery of the anon calling you autistic earlier in the thread. Fuck man it doesn't take a genius to work that out.
>>9777216I thought that this place had standards compared to the FB group, might aswell be the FB group with these low standards.>>9777112 is spot on for proper itabagging.
>>9777213Nice backpedaling third rate-chan.
>>9777216I'm not saying you can't have fun with an itabag. If you want to throw all of your money and dedication into something that isn't anime, that's fine.Putting four packs of Skittles or a handful of stickers into a bag isn't itabagging.
>>9777219Oh my god, do you guys even read yourselves ? How can you see the shitabags posted on the group and think that our standards are that low too ? Personally, I'd love to have tons of limited merch of my husbando available ! Unfortunately, he's from a 10-years old game, and while it is part of a very famous series and he has made appearances in other games, he keeps getting passed over for itabag-able merch, so all he has to show for it is :- 1 rubber strap- 1 metal pin from a series that came out at the same time as the game- a few trading cards, one being an exclusive only handed at a few cons. - a badge from a cafe event last year (had I known about personal shoppers at the time, I would have sent someone, unfortunately I did not)All this has been sold out at official sources for ages (except maybe the cards, okay, but I have an astronomically low chance of getting him if I buy a pack instead of buying individually, and it would support the entire series, not that specific game) and I had to get it all secondhand, so no money went to the producers anyways. So I found the one piece of fanmerch available on Etsy, I commissioned badges and pins, I used the official manga and doujins (all of which I own copies of) and pixel art of the games to make badges and keychains and pins, and so on. I even made a plush of my husbando in the style of the official plushes. Am I a lesser fan for this ? Is my bag lesser for this ? Yet it was posted in the itabag threads when it was way less advanced than it is today, and praised every time.
"No Facebook trash."Witty thread.
>>9777220Nice try but I'm not. Sorry your brain is too small to understand sarcasm, I guess you lost your intelligence when you wasted $300 on can badges
It's too late for comebacks or to avenge your honor when you are a gangstalker.
Such things are the penalty for those who shed innocent blood.
>>9777112>Lesser fans>not a competitionNice fucking bullshit right there. Also, by your logic, you cant make a "proper" itabag for any series that isn't still churning out limited merch. God forbid we like something that isn't massively popular and/or currently airing.
>>9777236Right because its just a joke, chill.
>>9777256> in a hobby about spending money> tries to mock people for spending moneyAnyway less arguing more itabagging
>>9777256>>9777240>>9777236>>9777112>>9777047>being this bitter over a hobby that's literally just buying things and putting said things into a bag

>>9777380This is normal for us since Facebook trash came over
>>9777406this is exponentially worse than the usual desu
>>9777346Why on earth would you put fanmade stuff and stickers in an Osomatsu bag? The series has mountains of merch and you can grab most of it for cheap. The concepts are nice with the flowers but ruined.
>>9777436well it was probably because she liked the merch
>>9777436Wow, it's almost like people can enjoy fan merch even if they're bagging from a popular series.
>>9777436It’s a good bag anon chill
>>9777436just focus on your own shitabag instead of trying to drag down and ruin everyone elses bags.
What a catty place this is
>>9777457You must be new
>>9777463Does that change my point?
>>9777465Yes, because the threads were okay previously
>>9774586seconding the iron on interfacing! the reason it's drooping is because you chose a lightweight knit. those will stretch and wrinkle incredibly easily. Try getting some nice thick curtain/upholstery interfacing, that'll make it stiff and stay in place.
>>9777468It got worse than before, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t catty before this thread or even the past few threads.
>>9777470Nayrt but would the interfacing make it more difficult to pin? I usually use the foam plus fabric method.
>>9777476it may, good point. I haven't had any issues pinning through interfacing though, it may depend on the kind you get.
>>9777476It won't really. I was able to pin through a double lining and velcro so i don't think you need to worry
So back to more pleasant things. How is everyone's plans for their Valentines shrines and special photos?
>>9777539I'll be busy so I went ahead and did mine to post later. First time doing V-Day and it was more fun than I expected.
>>9777539I usually go out to the beach but with the weather the way it is I don't know how possible it'll be if it continues. That said I've been working on some recipes I used at christmas and they're coming out a bit better than then so I'm pretty excited. Just need to decide on what I'm going to be setting on my shrine now.

>>9777622Yes. These two are the best things I've bought recently. Been looking for ages and found someone selling the set.
>>9777622Wild Tiger the Tiddy for Justice
>>9777539>How is everyone's plans for their Valentines shrines and special photos.I'm pretty terrible at baking, but this year I'll do my best to make sweet spring rolls for my Maki-chan shrine.
>>9777436>karamatsu being the most expensive character of that series.>cheap
>>9777861A lot of Osomatsu merch bins though.
>>9777539I'm excited to be doing this with lots of prep time for once -- I've got my desserts planned out, and I'm really looking forward to remaking the rushed, crappy cake from my first valentines' properly! I still need to think about merch placement, though that seems a bit harder to plan.
>>9778001C U T Elmao he's holding up the fork
>>9777970This. Osomatsu can be dirt cheap for certain merch in Japan.
>>9777295I guess I could have worded that clearer, my bad>Some anon in a previous thread said this about "lesser fans">in my own opinion, it's not a competition about who spends more money>and your point as well>However, I'll concede that that anon made a very good point about the original purpose of itabags, regardless of yours and my opinions.>You can't just change someone's origin story because it's not inclusive enough, if itabags were originally supposed to encourage fans to buy tons of merch to show support for a show, then it is what it is.Personally, in my own opinion, I think shipping a ton of pins is a waste of money, the shipping generally costs as much as the pins themselves. My own opinion is that international fans should really be showing off their international Blu-ray/DVD collections, because if we make that trending that we want translated releases, the companies might take notice and make it happen more often, even for smaller shows. But that doesn't make for a good fashion statement you can carry around, so I guess it'll remain my unpopular opinion. Oh well.
I've been wanting to make a Pomeranian itabag for daily use since I'm a little self conscious about carrying my husbando ones outside of an anime convention. Are there any other mascot-type pomeranians besides Pometan? I've considered making pins using pictures of my own pom, but that seems like a whole other level of creepily obsessed obsessed.
>>9774300why block out the persons name, you don't want them to get business?
>>9778091Pompom Purin is a Pomeranian I think!
>>9778104You're supposed to. Otherwise mods will swoop in and get you over bogus "Singling people out" rules.
>>9778039What is this guilt-tripping shit? No, no one wants to buy up the blurays/DVDs to get more translated releases, oftentimes the fandom translates content on its own. Plus there's some series, like idolm@ster, that wouldn't provide content for international fans regardless of how it sells overseas. Merch is more specific (ie. I like this character in particular), more personalized, and yes itabagging is a fashion-based hobby.
>>9778134lol what guilt trip. It's a bunch of opinions labeled as opinions.Go do whatever you want, anon.
It's nice to see Sanshee trying something slightly more unique than an overpriced wego heart bag, but how would you use it appropriately? I think this would be a rare situation where a mixed series bag from different classic gameboy games could work.
>>9778215I instantly think of chiaki when I see that; if I ever feel like doing a random fave character bag I'll probably get that for her. Other than her, maybe someone like that cancer umaru? Otherwise yeah it'd be best served being hardware based.
>>9778091There's Boo the Pomeranian! I pretty sure there's lot of merch of him. Also I don't think making pins of your Pom would be creepy? A couple of pins should be fine.
>>9777768Please tell me this is for DRV3 Maki bc that would be so perfect
>>9778231Yowamushi Pedal, actually! His favorite food are sweet spring rolls, so I thought it would be cool to make some rather than a cake.
>>9774279Predicament, gulls. I love itabags and always want to make one for each of my husbandos, but I have a horrible habit of getting bored of husbandos every couple of months or so.I really wanna make a bag but don't wanna waste money, effort and love into something I'm gonna wanna ditch 2 months later. Any advice?
>>9778246Those aren't your husbandos then and this isn't the hobby for you.
>>9778039Babe this isn't the hobby for you
>>9778246>husbando(s)I think I vomited a little.
>>9778246>getting bored of husbandos every couple of months or soDisgusting.
>>9778246those aren't husbandos, those are just boyfriends or maybe anime tinder dates
>>9778215this would be a cute base to use for a pokemon bag if the character/pokemon is from the original games
>>9778246Divorce is expensive this is why you don't fucking make a bag unless its husbando. You need to be 18+ to post here btw
>>9778246maybe a general series bag is more appropriate for you? most people have series that they are die hard for and never tire of maybe try something like >>9777545
>>9778119Pompom Purin is a golden retriever.
>>9778391>encouraging disloyaltyNo stop that
>>9778246Make a pinbag and don't post it here
>>9778091If you don't even know what characters there are, it's not a fucking ita bag. I'd rather see a bag of your own damn dog than have these stupid questions asked. >not knowing one of the best San X charactersshameful display.
Excited to up my shrine game this year *^* Plus the husbando’s birthday is Valentine’s Day so it works out ;D
>>9778556damm that’s nice
sorry for the fb tier question but how do you guys stop acrylic keyrings from twisting? or is it just not possible?
>>9778662glue dots, fishing line, pinning through the jump right instead of the full chain
>>9778664jump ring* which i also think is the best option desu
>>9778662Magnetic strip on back (magnet on other side of fabric), fishing wire, sticky dots (forgot the name). That’s if you have it flush to the surface.
>>9778662stick the back to the insert.
>>9778091I did this for my papillon and get plenty love for it and people saying they want to make one for their pet.Ended up filling it with buttons cause cute papillon merch is hard to find due to them not being a popular breed. With a Pomeranian you should be able to find way more stuff to put in it!
>>9778662Personally I just like to remove the chain and sew it straight to the backing. Definitely won't flip then
>>9778662attach with as few rings at the top as possible and then it won't go anywhere. 1 jump ring is good, then pin thru with a bent pin on the back of the insert to attach.
>>9774586is your insert fabric gengar underwear? it looks like a waistband at the top.no judgement btw, just think it's funny.
>>9778662Sew it. Don't use glue dots apparently they melted for one person, could ruin your merch if you don't have it in cases.>>9778697Lmao I didn't notice. I love the idea of using the characters underwear for an insert though
>tfw spent 3,000 yen on a single charm>I have some regretsA-at least I didn't cave and went for the listing that went for 7,800 yen.
>>9778662yooo toreba, are you in the discord?
>>9778680>those butterfliesClever as fuck, and I don't think I've ever that base bag before. Cute bag, too!
>>9778733I've done that a couple of times; I'm a little pissed I missed a 6k set though.
>>9778733>Was in a position to buy some cute keychains for like 1800yen>"That's not so bad. I'm busy so I'll buy them later">Sold out, and now sold out just about everywhere except ebay>Didn't really want to use ebay since they're going for $40-50 each but at least they're on there>Like a day passes>One of the two characters had like two or three separate listings at $44 each>Some asshole bought them all out>Didn't want to drop $30 on the other character but decided get him before he got bought outThanks for reading, make sure to like and subscribe to my blog.
>>9778515There have been itabags made that center around a common theme rather than a character though; characters that a favourite seiyuu has voiced for example. Plus those coverall magical girl or idol bags. And it's not like mascots have much more to them than looking cute and having a basic profile anyway.>>9778680This is super cute and the butterflies are really clever! Did you do those yourself or were they already on the base? Okay, I'm a little less hesitant about making one for my dog now.
>>9778733I'm in a similar position.>older series, 0 merch outside of dvds and manga.>even fan merch is rare. Found a bit on booth.pm and lots sold out>an actual official keychain pops up> $25
>>9776675amazing. this gives me hope.
>Series i'm looking for merch of is also the name of a FGO character>FGO is so much more popular that searching for that series name in japanese only yields that guy
>>9778818> guyOut of curiosity who is the character?
>>9778751>>9778800Thanks so much! I actually found the bag at Ross of all places, took it as a sign it was time to make a bag for my dog.
>>9778822This Komaeda-looking fucker.
I want to ask something but I'm not sure if it's more suited for the BTS thread or this one. It's regarding a potential Persona 5 merch box split, and I've noticed a number of P5 itabag posts here. Should I just post it here?
>>9778875If you want to do a split then go to bts.
>>9778908Sounds good. Thank you.
>>9778728>Don't use glue dots apparently they melted for one personI'm probably the person you're referring to. I had two bags that were affected. Luckily neither were finished but it's still a pain to deal with. I followed an anon's advice to avoid Goo Gone and tried to research other options. One suggestion was using peanut butter and it actually seemed to work pretty well with the rubber keychains, although the entire process was a pain in the ass. PB takes forever to rinse off and there's residue from the peanut oil, so I took dish soap and a toothbrush and scrubbed. Some pb was left in tiny nooks and crannies so I tried wood glue and it worked. Five acrylic keychains were also affected. One of them wasn't bad and was fairly easy to clean, but as for the other four I'm still having a difficult time after the peanut butter trick...As for the bags themselves, both have some melted glue dots on the window. One was a cheap AmiAmi bag (just like >>9776682 but blue) so I decided to try to put it in the wash with some vinegar on gentle cycle, but it didn't remove the residue. I'm not sure what to try at this point...tl;dr Don't use glue dots on your itabags.
>>9778975I lost all reading comprehension and thought you meant using peanut butter as an adhesive to stop the keyrings from twisting.
>>9778975Wh-which keychains were they? You weren't the anon with the Ryuseitai bag, were you?
>>9778975>tfw you just used a ton of glue dots on everything
>pls no bully uwuI know its the no FB trash edition - sorry - but holy shit.
>>9778987Take the stuff out and remove the glue dots. The longer you wait the worse the glue dots will leave residue.Stuff like glue dots and mounting putty should be avoid because of residue and such.
>>9778998>bootleg>NarutoJesus why? It's so freaking easy to find Naruto merch there's no reason to buy bootleg, especially of Sakura. Unless they're calling the fanart stuff bootleg, then that's just being an ass.
>>9778987I've had glue dots on all of my bags for years. None of them have "melted," and when I've switched merch out, cleaning them off the back of keychains just took a little scrubbing.I wouldn't worry.
>>9778998>I missed boxsplits so rather than deal with the secondhand market I'll just order bootlegs from TaobaoI guess this is why I get so many facebook-tier questions when I wear my Love Live itabag places.
>>9778985The problematic acrylics are some cheaper Tiger & Bunny x Rascal keychains (I'm not the Tiger & Bunny anon), so if I can't get them fully cleaned they shouldn't be a big loss. I was really looking forward to finally finishing my bag though... The one I didn't struggle with was a FGO Cu Chulainn keychain.>>9778987Just make sure to roll them off asap. They're pretty easy to remove when you first apply them.
>>9779005There are permanent and temporary glue dot varieties just like there are permanent and temporary double sided tapes. Yall were probably using different kinds.
>>9779024>>9778975 & >>9779011 here, my dots were the Removable kind. So I'm guessing >>9779005 has the permanent ones?
>>9778556I love you anon, you do him such great justice
She's so bootleg even her Facebook comments are fake
>>9779178Legitimately burst out laughing, holy shit. Maybe don't ask for people's opinions if you can't deal with people disagreeing with you.
>>9779178It took me more time to edit out the usernames. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>>9779206This makes me unreasonably salty. She has everything she could possibly want for dirt cheap, she's just too lazy to look for it.
>>9779208It honestly kinda baffles me that she'll take the time to find and buy bootlegs from Taobao but there's zero attempt at buying official. From what I saw Sakura's merch is pretty cheap. How much do Taobao bootlegs go for?
I guess her love doesn't go THAT far.
>>9778556Always love to see your stuff!
>>9778742Different anon but there's a Toreba discord?
Baby is deleting her tweets now she's getting called out for her bullshit. But at least she was nice enough to call herself a dumb bitch.
>>9778998kek I know it's no FB trash edition but the group is on fire this weekI honestly don't understand the deal with some of these people, or just the FB group in general>I'm not made of money>is in a hobby where you have to spend alot of money on dumb shit????
>>9779324>Naruto series>don't have merch anymore or very littleDa fuck?
>>9778998I’ve just done a Kaiba bag so I know she’s a liar -_-
>>9779326They are just lying to justify their shitty thieving ways...
>>9778800You're still not a fan if you have to ask people ITT what characters you should put in your bag. Why is this so hard for you to understand?
>>9779351>and I'm just cheap lol
>>9779307Goddamn, sauce? I love Dwayne, The Rock, Johnson.
>>9779359https://twitter.com/Ricearoni85/status/957810600163225600Here's who took the pic. The person who made it might have responded.
>>9779324>I'm not made of money>is in a hobby where you have to spend alot of money on dumb shitI don't understand the point. Why even bother? Better yet, why not save up and work harder for your bag? It's what I've done whenever I entered any new costly passion, it makes you appreciate shit a lot more. Unless you're a weeb desperate to be trendy with an instant gratification complex, that is.
>>9779395>Unless you're a weeb desperate to be trendy with an instant gratification complex, that is.That's basically it. They see everyone else with bags with stuff in it so they have to hop on the hype train even if they can't afford it.What's truly shocking is the way they feel entitled to it. They DESERVE a bag and merch without having to earn it (pay for it).
>>9779399And if you dare suggest they work for their shit, you're clearly an elitist and a bully.
I've been working on a different mid-00s character probably about as popular as sakura or less, and I did it without bootlegs even before a recent influx of new merch. With a character like Sakura they are spoiled for good merch. How is navigating taobao easier than navigating otamart? Does anyone have the exact dimensions of the pinnable interior of this Zakkamart A4 tote? My EMS shipment to the US has been radio silent since "dispatch from outward office" on the 1st and I want the base bag in it for Katsu... at least I can get my insert ready to just slap on and run when it gets here.
>>9779399We need to do what the lolita community did with replicas, this shit is unacceptable, its eventually going to lead to the market being over saturated with shitty knock-offs and part time weebs clogging up spaces with their tacky bootleg bags filled with Clair’s accessories tier junk. And yes I’m salty when I’m forking out £600 for official merch but some twat who has spent £10 on their basic ass “husbando” is getting more attention.
>>9779415>And yes I’m salty when I’m forking out £600 for official merch but some twat who has spent £10 on their basic ass “husbando” is getting more attention.Do you really want attention from the kind of people that gush over knock off bags with three screenshot badges?
>>9779415This is what I hate the most. We're dropping hundreds to be able to make our bags, support the shows we love and be a part of this hobby. But then there's privileged little bitches who show not only no respect to the creators, but drag the whole community down just because they think they're entitled to join in. Money isn't even a fucking excuse. Yeah some of us can drop £300/$400 at once on a bag, and you know why? Because we have jobs, because we worked hard for our income. But there's baggers who don't have expendable income , who vigilantly save or just buy one or two straps a month. Who spend months building their merch up slowly and understand this is a long investment. Just because you're an impatient little bitch doesn't mean you can shit on the rest of us. Yeah we are elitist, yeah we are exclusive, TOUGH.SHIT. Either be prepared to drop the cash or find another hobby. Bootlegs are literally killing the industry, they stop us getting new merch, they cost people their jobs and livelihoods. Anyone who can brag about buying this shit and the stand there and criticize us for buying legit needs to buy a bootleg gun and put it in their mouth.
>>9779447Point taken>>9779453Exactly! It’s the same bullshit in the Lolita community, cheap bitches giving their money to art thieves instead of supporting brand now everyone is wondering why brand is slowly dying. I don’t have disposable income that’s why I save and budget like crazy, it took me a year to put my ita bag together, I bought a couple of items a month and you know what? It makes me feel ten times better knowing that I’m supporting the creators, businesses and also the resellers I’m and out of Japan that have gone out their way to get official merch and Japanese exclusives to sell on to westerners. As an artist it pisses me off that people are so entitled that they think they can take someone else’s likeness and use it for their own gain. Not everything is an all-inclusive buffet, pay your way and support the creators or gtfo!
>>9779467>>9779453>save and budget like crazyThat's something I get sometimes self-conscious about, taking your time and holding off since the constant attitude seem like you need everything to come instantly into your hands. I have a long way to go to make my Sonic bags way more presentable, but you have to put some sort of effort into the thing you like.
>>9779447NAYRT I want to post my bag on fb for con/crit but I want suggestions from people with real itabags not tweens with half-empty bootleg Shitabags.>B-but my fave obscure/western/completelymadeupinmyhead husbando doesn’t have enough official itabag-able merch Don’t make an itabag for it then
>>9779475Like the saying goes, slow and steady wins the race. Take your time anon and your bag will be superior than those who value quantity over quality
>>9779357That kind of attitude kind of blocks it at the source, though. If they’re asking for suggestions of animal mascots it opens up the opportunity to become a fan. Same as if someone wanted a bag for cats. There’s plenty but some you might not know about. Suggestions mean you find more, learn more, and become a fan. Why are you so uptight about a bag for a simple dog theme anyway? Mascots are just cute drawings to sell merch. It’s not that deep.
>>9779475My two finished bags took me over a year collecting mech for each. One is popular and her merch don't show up as often, and the other girl I saved up cash and bought merch in Tokyo for instead of shipping it. I almost got all the merch for two new bags in Japan as well, and my friend is living there now and can ship stuff for me. I for one like the time consuming part of finding merch. I don't do dupes because my characters have enough merch, but the collecting proccess I love.
>>9779475I just spent 3 months saving for a bag and blew it all. Nightmare finding the merch because of character tax but I feel so happy and proud. I hope my bag will do them justice! See, you don't need instant gratification. If you're devoted enough to make a bag you should be devoted enough to save.
How often to Wego bags go on sale? I still need to actually get a bag but I just dropped a shitload on merch.
>>9779533They're currently having a sale that lasted over a month so it seems pretty regular?
>>9779477Theres the better fb group that you can post in for critiques if you want. Or here. Wherever you prefer.
>>9779230yaa, search google for toreba discord, brings up a reddit post with link. we direct sell prizes to each other
>>9779313My daughter! This is so lovely, is it your shrine anon?
I have five Naruto bags so when people are saying they can’t find merch for it so they opt for bootleg, they’re clearly not even looking. Plus the stuff runs about average for the mains and average for others, unless you are looking for special edition items. People need to gtfo if they aren’t willing to spend a little time, effort, and money on this hobby.
>>9780229No, just some I pulled off twitter for inspiration.
>>9776699>athlete bag?I'm curious what that looks like now
