This bag was driving me crazy. They put Pluto stuff to "fill in space" despite having no real connection with Healer. If they can afford the vintage healer plush and figure, they can certainly afford to buy more stuff like the new petit chara figures or those keychains of the brooch/ star yell (all of which I own so I know they're not too bad in price)
>>
>>9779625
My merch haul won't arrive for valentines day :( I'll have to wait till his birthday to shower my husbando with love.
>>
>>9779602
Can someone please tell me if there's a legitimate reason to put badges in protective covers even if they're behind vinyl like this?
>>
>>9779605
Booty booty booty booty rocking everywhere

I love this bag t b h
>>
>>9779940
It keeps them from getting scratched by the other badges and items in the bag. Might also be an aesthetic thing, who knows.
>>
>>9779940
Protection from the elements with the plastic covering of the bag in addition to badge protectors to prevent the acrylics from banging up against each other.

Personally, I use it on items I don't have doubles on inside my bag.
>>
>tfw you're at college and you won't be able to build a decent shrine
I've never had such a strangely specific regret.
>>
If your focus was the wrong kind of guy for valentines day and he didn't have an official birthday, when would you celebrate him?
>>
>>9780050
How can a guy possibly be wrong for valentines day? Even if he's edgy you can still show love for your husbando.
>>
>>9780053

He's more like a son type than a husbando type.
>>
>>9780055
You can still show love for him in a innocent way. Just make a shrine and post it outside valentines if you feel uncomfortable about connotations.
>>
>>9780057
This. Just save it for their birthday or something.
>>
>>9780035
When I was at uni I still had a shrine for my husbando and had a valentines/christmas date with him.
Just [x]do it.
>>
>>9780055
i have a similar problem! i'm just going to skip valentines and white day, and do his birthday and christmas instead. that still gives you room to do a fun themed shrine in addition to a birthday setup, so you don't totally miss out.
>>
>>9780055
I think that's still fine, you can just specify that he's your son. People give platonic gifts on Valentine's to their family members, friends, and colleagues all the time.
>>
>>9780055

"Giving my favorite son some giri-choco, because he's cute and deserves chocolate"

or, a lot less loving but also a lot less creepy because the self-interest is so obvious:

"I bought Godiva giri-choco for my anime son. But really I get to eat it myself afterwards hurrdurr"

You could probably pick any significant date to replace his birthday with -- the anniversary of his show, anniversary of his debut on his show, mythical date of something important that happened on the show, or pick something related. I do Enma Ai's birthday on Halloween, for eg.

>>
>>9780340
I haven't tried using magnets yet, but wouldn't magnets get knocked around a bit if you aren't being too careful? I've seen a few people recommend using card sleeves or toploaders for pinning cards to itabags, though.

can some anons post pictures of them using glue dots, if that isn't asking for too much? the story one anon had about them melting has me worried to try.
>>
>>9780340
i modified card sleeves in order to have pin backings and that's the best way that has worked for me so far
>>
>>9780478
I dunno what you're expecting to see? They're just dots of glue on the back... You still need to pin or sew your items on
>>
>>9780496
this, even putting a ton of glue dots on an acrylic won't hold it up if you do anything besides display your bag in a stable environment. buy some safety pins
>>
>>9780516
Unless you get permanent glue dots (don't) they'll still fall in a stable room over time. They're just used to stop swinging

First "ita" bag I've made, can I get some advice on how it's progressing? Do you have any tips for keeping pins from rotating around if they only have one post?
>>
>>9780529
>advice on how it's progressing
Hard to give advice when I'm not sure what you're even going for. Is it just a straight up lolita bag? If so, well you've got lolita stuff. What more advice could you possibly need?
>>
>>9780529
It's looking empty but the pieces so far work nicely together. AP has some badges that you could use.
>>
>>9780342
>>9780340
>>9780334
Any sort of rigid card sleeve is recommended to keep cards from bending. If you want to use soft sleeves, back them with something sturdy. Aegislash anon, I'd definitely put that lovely full art you've got in a hard sleeve though.

>>9780529
It's itabag anon, one word and right in the op. Unless you were trying to pun on the lolita ita, in which case forgive my ignorance.

What direction are you going for with this? What's your theme? I'm getting vibes for a general lolita bag, but it also seems like you might be trying for something more cheeky/sarcastic? If it's the former, the salt and rosette pins seem really unfitting.

In terms of general advice, take the ballchain and weird strap thing off of those mascots, and pin them by their jump ring or just through them directly. Some backing fabric will also help it feel less empty until you get more pieces.
Overall, this seems like a really half-assed start--you don't seem to have put any thought into arranging what you have nicely. The photo would make for a great centerpiece, so why'd you shove it off to the side? Remember that itabags are basically portable shrines to a thing, and good shrines aren't made of random things just tossed on them.
>>
>>9780529
Well it's not an itabag so I'm not sure what advice to give? It's hard to tell what you're trying to do, and the pins are in such random places it looks like you were using them to try fill huge empty space. Is it meant to be a general lolita bag? Maybe it would be better to focus on a brando.

That Bag is a gorgeous shade of pink though. I should buy one
>>
>>9780552
It does have backing fabric bro, its the shiny pink material. The base bag has a pun leather backing the same color.

I’ve been a similar situation before, so sorry for the long post!
First, for non-official stuff, I think some metallic sword and shield charms could be really cute if you could find them! I also think a pale yellow backing would help bring out the gold in its design. You can also make your own pieces with official art, sprites, or screencaps of its anime appearances, though sprites might be hard for aegi since it was introduces as they were phased out for models. There’s also always fanmerch—have you checked storenvy, etsy and tictail? Redbubble also sometimes has some nice big stickers that you can turn into pins, just make sure you do something about the white space on them.
For official stuff, every pokemon out now has a small (like ~1-1.5cm) metal charm, and they’re sold in sets by evolution line. I checked the jp pokecenter site and it’s is sold out, thankfully suruga-ya has it! I also found a keychain on otamart that looks like it was a capsule prize. There’s also pan and wafer seals, which are the things along the top of my pic. There about 2x2” and you can slide them into card sleeves to cover the text part of the cards nicely! The pan seals are the ones with the plain white backing, and they look a lot nicer if you trim them or do something to minimize the white. Lastly, there have been these collectible tokens that have been made to use with arcade games which you could easily just glue a pin to. Aegi has a handful for the first one that was called pokemon treta, and a couple are pictured on the right. As you can see though, their border colors don’t always match the pokemon exactly. I don’t have any of the treta tokens, but I’m guessing they’re about the same size as the seals based on the ones I do have.
I just slapped the links of what I found here in a pastebin so I won’t upset the small filter. If you want to do any more hunting, it’s Japanese name is ギルガルド ! https://pastebin.com/D5gtrP1H

Apologies, I should have been more specific. It is a general Lolita themed bag. I was not sure if it counted as an itabag since it is not a specific character or Fandom. This is my first bag so I was looking for advice on placement and objects. Truthfully this is all stuff that is Lolita related or made by Lolitas. I will put the postcard in center and add the jump rings. I do need to get more things to fill it out and was asking if I was headed in the right direction. The bag is much larger than I expected. Thanks for the advice!
>>
>>9780647
I rearranged some stuff and took out the salty pins. It looks leagues better already. Ty anons.

Any thoughts/tips on making an itagbag for a character whose appearance changes over the course of canon? The character in question is Phos from Houseki no Kuni--by the current point in the manga, Phos looks nothing like their original self. While most of the official merch is of Phos' original appearance, a lot of fan merch has their various versions. I haven't decided yet if it's a good idea for me to stick to their original appearance or not. People who know the series well (and read the manga) will know that they're the same character, but I worry about it looking chaotic from an aesthetic point of view.
>>
>>9780682
You could always do a "progression" theme in your bag? From early design to current. I'm not familiar with the character, apologies on if that wouldn't work. If it's just two seperate designs, you can always do two different bags!
>>
>>9780695
No, progression sounds like a good idea, thanks! The character has about four or five different designs as they change, but some of them only last a little while, so making different bags would be extremely difficult, sadly.

My guy is like this and I have it separated by color, which results in near de-facto separation by appearance, if that makes sense.

Also, EMS is annoying me. Is DHL/Fedex really more reliable in the future? I will pony up if I ever find myself on a deadline like this if it means I'm not sitting here with 4 business days to go wondering where my con shit is.
>>
>>9780728
what proxy was this through? i've never had my EMS packages sit that long in posting/collection, let alone take so long to arrive, so i'm curious if something just got fucked up along the way. i'm an amerifag though, usually get EMS within 3 business days.
>>
>>9780738

FJ. I'm in the US too and am used to things arriving in 3 days. I'm at a different address than usual though, normally I expect things to go through San Francisco and this time it ought to be New York.
>>
>>9780728
I think Japan has weather issues that are causing post delays?
>>
>>9780776

That was on the 22nd/23rd of last month... I've considered weather delays in NYC too, but the severe storm is both more recent than should have delayed my things and farther to the northeast?

And I know someone else who had something shipped also on the 31st, EMS from Japan via NYC (but not via FJ), and it's at their local post office now. Mine was scanned for "Dispatch from outward office" twelve hours before theirs.

Mostly I'm just griping because I'm disappointed, but if anyone has suggestions that would be super.

If you wanted to cash in on the hype by calling your glorified novelty purses itabags then at least come out and admit it from the start.
Not try to market them in itabag groups then on instagram complain about trying to "wholesale my itas to Spreepicky but they said no" on one post and then brag about "You can fit your whole pin collection in here!" in another.

I'm just so fucking salty. She ignores all the comments/feedback from actual interested itabag owners, makes excuses for the quality issues, and then does this shit.

Look you put them side by side, you know which one is more pleasant to look at. Part of itabagging and why shitabags are called shitabags is a certain skill or lack there of in making merch look nice. You can be stunned by mountains of haphazard merch, rows of dupes, or arrangement of badges and the key feature is still there — it looks nice and you want to keep looking at it. Steel Panther bag qualifies as an itabag but it’s still ugly. Versailles bag or whatever idk the series is even simpler but hey at least it’s pretty.

They both look bad. Oscar has more merchandise that could be put on a bag, the roses look bad but it's not completely terrible because roses relate to Oscar herself. On the band one the bag looks dirty, ratty, and cheap and the fanart is pretty ugly while not adding much. The plushies are cute though.

Oscar bag is 4/10 while band bag is 3/10.

She probably had a pusheen one originally and just switched the insert for those sweet fb likes
>>
>>9782488
Actually she said it wasn't a meme bag and she really did love him. I remember a comment about her planning to change the bag because the pusheen pins had left big holes on the outside.
>>
>>9782414
At least this bag looks classy, I wouldn't call it an itabag though. Just a well decorated anime themed bag.
>>
>>9782414
Am I the only one here who hates this bag?
>>
>>9781048
I'm not gonna lie, I would totally wear this but not as an itabag. Like >>9781058 mentioned, this is just a purse with transparent elements. A clear window does not a base bag make.

>>9782471
I would love to see more itabags dedicated to cartoon characters. I just got a button maker. Maybe I'll make a Pocket Morty itabag.
>>
>>9782414
What originally attracted me to itabagging back in the day was that these threads were incredibly NICE. I was surprised to find a thread on cgl with a complete absence of salt. Only an outpouring of ridiculous love for fictional characters.

All good things must come to an end, though, and as itabagging left it's niche corner for the mainstream gulls found more reasons to pull out their bitch card.
>>
>>9782473
I think the "burnt" trim on the bag was a terrible decision, but I love putting badge ribbons in a bag, I've never seen that done before.
>>
>>9782637
It annoys me as well. I can understand the frustration of bandwagoners making shit bags for attention, but a lot of the time people are coming here to drop shit bags on purpose. Or they're ripping on bags that aren't actually bad. There's legitimate bullshit like Betty, Bootleg girl and now shiny desu criticism deleter who are making drama for the community, but honestly I'd rather hear about what people are planning or sharing tips.

So to all the shitters who keep ruining these threads, kindly fuck off back to tumblr/facebook/hell
>>
>>9782637
>>9782653
It's happening because itabag went from a relatively freeform thing to a set ideal of what you HAVE to have.

I mean in just under two years we went from random store totes covered in merch and the infamous "guide" that new people don't even know about to this set idea of what an itabag HAS to look like and that it HAS to be in a designated bag with a window.

We've just boxed ourselves into a corner.
>>
>>9782693
The improvisor is the issue here
>>
>>9782725
This "guide" was a joke someone made, friend. It's not to be taken seriously.
>>
>>9782653
I guess I'll talk about what I'm working on then to move the topic forward?

I'm currently working on an Utapri bag (Natsuki). I'm making my own bear for it. Currently working on the design layout of the bag since I don't have of the merch yet (waiting on it). Will be going to my local craft/fabric store for the materials I need for the bear.

Working on an Utapri bag too (shining live reignited my love for Cecil) and surprisingly spending less money than I thought I'd have to. Even snagged one of the official bags albeit the smaller one. I just hope to kami-sama I'll win this big set auction.
>>
>>9782757
I think since there's just aucha huge amount and availability of items Utapri ends up beong more affordable than some niche anime idol groups.
>>
>>9782733
sharing plans seems more fun than the stupid bait so let's do it. i'm currently wringing my hands waiting for my proxy to confirm the purchase of two acrylic stands, they're massive so i want to have one for display and one for the centerpiece of a bag. i'm not sure how i want to arrange around it though.

you should share progress of your bear when you start on it, i think more WIP stuff in general would be cool to see around here desu
>>
>>9782733
I'm starting a bag for Momo off Free! I'm struggling hard though since there's actually not a ton of merch for him and I refuse to buy anything that I don't love, so I guess I'm gonna have to settle for finding a few pieces I like and just buying multiples

>>

I find its actually domestic delivery fees that rack up the most cost on FJ. I always try and go for items that have free domestic shipping. Were the items you bought large or heavy anon? Or maybe you bought from shops like amazon or animate, that always have pricey shipping? Because that could be why your fee was so large. Like my shipment was mainly just can badges and rubber straps bought off otamart so that’s why the domestic shipping fee was so low
>>
>>9782790
I tried ZenMarket and got hit with near 3k SAL shipping for one small thing. Never again.
>>
For the white day exchange how much merch/what kind of merch are you buying for your giftee? I want to make sure I'm not sending too much or too little.
>>
>>9782414
This oscar bag is totally different from the other bag and it was made during a different period of itabagging (availability of base bags and general awareness of the hobby was on a different level). I don't think anyone has posted it recently or consider all that impressive anyways, so I'm not sure why it's being posted as a comparison.

Everyone always forgets, but the oscar bag also has lights inside (back when it wasn't a common trend). The combination of these things made it a nice bag at the time. Standards have changed since then, so opinions about it probably have too.

The bottom line is, the band bag in question doesn't seem well crafted and doesn't meet today's standards- and that's the problem people have with it.
>>
>>9782733
I'm working on a something for my favorite clothing brand's mascot, I'll finally have somewhere to put all the stupid novelties I've accumulated. It's going to be tricky picking out a base bag that's deep enough for the weird shapes though

>>
>>9782733
I finished working on my valentine's shrine over the weekend, and am excited to share photos on the day! Taking apart multiple bags then repinning them all was hell, however.
>>
>>9782733
Sharing plans is fun.
I'm collecting merch for a Sucy bag, there isn't a lot of it but I have everything official I can find and some fan-made stuff as well.
I don't actually have a bag to put any of it on yet.
None of the designated base bags I've looked through work with her style (or mine for that matter), so I'll probably end up using a plain messenger bag or something.
>>
>>9782841
My strategy was to get on suru and just buy as much cheap merch for the price limit as possible instead of one big thing they may or may not already have/like.
>>
>>9782879
Different anon but small packet would've been your best bet. SAL is for larger orders that want to stay cheap.
>>
>>9782927
>>9782841

I placed an order on suru and tried to get a variety of things, ended up buying mostly straps, some badges and a figure, 9 items in total

>>9782881
I'm sure you're doing fine ! You can always go through the event coordinator if you need more information from your giftee
>>
>>9782827

Toranoana's domestic shipping costs really kills me. I wanted to buy some cute, lightweight goods on there but they still wanted like $10 domestic shipping. Those bastards.

so japonica is good for doujin off suru/tora? does that include ones with the more explicit covers or are we only talking BL covers of two dudes looking away from each other with a tiny R18 in the corner?

how do i make it better /cgl/?
>>
>>9783236
You've got some nice symmetry going on, adding a contrasting insert would be my recommendation
>>
>>9783236
You could put some small flowers in the gaps between stuff, or on the outside of the bag
>>
>>9783236
I would move up the two outer charms on the second row from the top, since there's a bit of space above them. It would give space to move up the ones below them which are half hidden (which is really unpleasant to look at).
I also find it a bit strange to have the three smaller badges grouped together at the bottom, it's jarring. You could separate the two top ones, maybe put one on each side since they both have an individual character.

Otherwise, as >>9783240 said, a coloured insert would be nice. You've got a lot of yellow in there, so something to contrast with that would be a shade of purple. Try out different shades with more or less red in them. It should be a fairly soft shade in any case, since the yellows are pretty pastel.
>>
>>9783184
I know, I was just worried because it would be 100% fanmade and there's a lot of debate about that right now
>>
>>9782414
Idc itabag or not, I love this bag and how it does Oscar-sama justice. Does anyone have more Versailles bags for inspo?

>>9783259
I'm pretty sure the people being salty about fanmerch (especially for series that don't have much in the way of official merch) are just a very vocal minority right now.

There's always going to be people bitching about the type of bag you're making. But if you care enough about your artistfu then you should have a thick enough skin to deal with it
>>
>>9783259
Don't worry about it, especially if you don't have many official options. Like others have said, make the bag for yourself, not to impress others.
>>
>>9783273
I’d be worried about my stuff getting knocked around or the vinyl getting bent in tight space. I travelled with some bags before but kept them in the suitcase and never had an issue with security.

The consensus is that if your series has no merch you have no choice. But if you're shitting official merch then only a few at most.

>>9783273
Depends where you're flying. I got stuck at Paris for an hour while they checked my bag over and then argued about the pins being used to stab eyes. So don't go to a city with a high terrorist threat with it as your under seat bag. Ideally put it in a small case in your overhead.

I agree with >>9783254 that those bottom three items should be separated. Personally, I would go with either a lot of fake yellow flowers in the bg or a solid bright red insert to match the human soul. I suggest using an xacto knife to cut the washi tape on the clear charms because those torn edges look sloppy. Maybe you can alternate between yellow and green tape for stripes.

Anyway anon I am jealous and in love with your Charasriel merch! I love that ship the most but didn't know where to find them, so I ended up including Frisk for the surplus of matching/mirrored art with Chara. I still need to fix my own bag up but I got really excited to see a fellow Undertale itabagger with these kids so I'm dropping a pic to also scream SAME HAT.

Not even bait. I think I saw three decent bags and the rest (10+) were absolute shit. Lots of huge ones with lots of space mostly, when the person could just get a smaller one and fill that one up properly. And even the good ones were mostly repeats of either the same pins or of the same three different pins.

I don't see how that's baity. Other than calling you weebs I'm literally saying the western comm (or at least the/ cgl/ comm) has better taste and higher standards.

Reread your post, the way it's written is definitely bait, especially after your clarification now.

There are shitabags no matter where you go, and I'm sure the regulars here know it. To dump from JP itabag pics, you still have to sift through the same shit you do if you scroll through the western itabags.

Why do you make it seem like bags that use a lot of repeats are "lesser"? As long as the bag looks good, it looks good.

Of course CGL has higher standards, it's a smaller community and people don't hold back if your bag is bad.
>>
>>9783859
Ah, you're right. I was drunk while I posted that so I apologize for sounding like that. Anyway - as I said, I'm not much into the cosplay and anime part of this board and only visit these threads occasionally because I really like how some of these bags look, but from what i gathered the people here were similar to the ones on the lolita part of the board - holding their Asian counterpart as higher when in truth and on average they're not that much better.

>Why do you make it seem like bags that use a lot of repeats are "lesser"?
I don't, and I've seen anons explaining why there's nothing wrong with those, but from where I stood it seemed like people here thought they were lazy. And desu the ones i saw irl kinda were since they were all of well-known characters that had a lot of merch to choose from. But as you said, they looked good so I can't complain much.

Kinda blogpost-y, but reading now I kinda wish I visited these threads more before. There's one character I'd love to make a bag for and I can find all the shit I need here but I haven't been into it enough to make anything interesting.

Some of it is cheap though. The majority of these bags use the easier to obtain badges that can run 400/800 depending on the character. People alsi have the luxury of trading them and playing the gachapon machines themselves in japan. I can't recall seeing a pure dupe bag that used exclusive ticket event only badges (like collab cafes), but if you find one let me know!

You don't get your character every time you put your yen in the machine. You have to spend tons of money to get those dupes and even if you trade with other fans you've got to have the excess prizes to trade.

It's not cheap to dupe.
>>
Is it still a (good) itabag if the majority of it is a collage of screenshots and artwork? My husbando doesn't have a lot of (neither official nor fanmade) merch and I don't know how to go about commissioning any.
>>
>>9784210
Tumblr artists are always looking for commissions. Or you could check Etsy.
>>

I can't see it turning out "good" with only screenshots and artwork, if you wanna go that route then go to a print shop at least rather than just printing the stuff off on printer paper. Itabag doesn't really have defined rules though, if you want to try doing that then just give it a go. Out of curiosity who is your husbando?
>>

>>
Wasn't there another music/band itabagger here?

I'm making a Gorillaz bag and they seriously suck at making merch. These pins and some stickers are the only current thing available, and everywhere else I just find unofficial badges and pins (and then I can make them myself for less).
It sucks since Jamie Hewlett makes such amazing artwork for the band, and I would throw so much money at them if they made more merch.

I'm currently thinking about putting in album covers and official postcards in the bag, and then make som badges and add the pins and stickers. Have anyone used unconventional items for your bags? How did you fasten them then? I've only made bags with keychains and badges so I'm rrying to figure out the best way to do this.
>>
>>9784250
Gorillaz had a TON of merch in early 2000s, I couldn't walk into a music store without seeing it. It might be an idea to check second hand places or cult stores. I hate seeing cute layouts but using ugly knockoff heart bags. So close to perfect.

Do the glitter windows look better irl? I find them so hard to look at in these photos

Does anyone else end up spending a lot on tictail despite only getting a few items? Not complaining, I'm just surprised it added up so quick.
>>
>>9784736
It tends to vary. I have one knockoff heart bag where it's not so bad and easy to see the merch (pic related) and another that looks like it has a fine layer of dust on it.

What's your take on making bags for controversial characters? I'm talking characters like Griffith and the like.

I just made a bag for Nishiki from the yakuza/ryu ga gotoku and most people hate him cause he's a backstabbing asshole (which he is, I'm not denying that). I just go by how much I personally love him and fuck what everyone else thinks.

Can you post it? Nishiki is my absolute favourite and I'm really happy that other people like him (despite his actions!)

Yeah I know they had tons of merch but it's so hard to find since, at least in my country, it was kids and teens that bought it so most have probably been threwn away. I'll check out any pop up store I can find, but my country sucks when it comes to finding stuff like these, so chances are prob. slim.
Wish they've done more merch during phase 2 and 3 though since then they had the best artworks. Can't find anything except shirts and posters.

Oh well, I'll just have to get creative with what I can find
>>
Since we're on the topic of stickers; does anyone have any examples of stickers being utilized well?

AH that explains a lot, was wondering how the hell did I miss this much merch when I've been looking for 2 years only in the western/English fandom. The only reason I even found Poncrafts was because someone posted her table set up, her charms are huge, and she had an Etsy store.
(I only follow this thread and the AA one... I did not know /utg/ existed and it's still alive.)

The waterfall one is by dustbunnythumper! She seems to have closed her store but it looks like she's active on tumblr

To stop spamming the thread I'm throwing out a temp email if you wanna drop your handle or something. I would love to see your stash and/or you can ask about merch from my bag, I can source about 90% of it and I also have a backside.

I have this problem, and "forcing" the color scheme through lots of rosettes, flowers, and ribbons dramatically helps harmonize clashing merch. If you have multiple bags, sort by color as much as you can between them, too.
>>
>>9784207
You can literally buy the pins yourself and some of them go for as cheap as 200 yen on Nakano Broadway, with most regular ones being priced at 400-600 yen.

So let's say you're making something like >>9785006 and make all rows similar to the bottom ones - 7 pins horizontally multiplied by 5 rows. That's 35 pins. Let's say each is 400 yen. That's 14,000 yen on pins, then maybe another 5,000 for the bag.

Throw another 1,000 yen for the train fare and that's 20k. Which isn't cheap, but isn't a huge amount of money either. And with the added possibility of getting the gacha yourself and trading instead of buying, you spend 300 yen on the machine and trade it for the pin that's going for 500 yen at the store, which adds up with time.

It's so much easier it's hard to believe so many of them are boring.
>>
>>9784877
>>9785076
god i love her so much, ive been daydreaming about making an itabag filled with her. theres not much merch readily available besides a sticker and a keychain but i am absolutely ready to spend all my paychecks on commissions !
>>
>>9785200
Like Bootleg-Chan said, “agree to disagree?” Beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that. I still find them aesthetically pleasing. But it ain’t cheap and for a western fan in particular, it’s difficult getting copies. Hell I’ve been trying to complete a button set for a year now and the one I’m missing is either never on sale or goes for $25 a pop even on the cheap sites. It’s a project on the back burner for now since I’m saving and working on other bags but who knows maybe I’ll find it cheaper when I go to Japan this year.
>>
>>9785200
my ultimate holy grail tier goal is one of these uniform button bags because i love the aesthetic but it's nowhere near as cheap as you're implying. admittedly for me it's because i'm trying to do it with convention exclusive buttons that usually go for 1500-3500 yen each depending on how lucky i am/if its in a set, but i've managed to get a whopping six (6) of them over the past year since they're rare as hell. and that's actually not too bad of a count.

dismissing them wholesale as "easy" is a little much, especially for a western collector like >>9785248 notes. my bag isn't going to look notably different from these when it's eventually done, but it certainly won't be for a lack of effort or money.
>>
>>9784613
Everything about this is just cheap looking, boring and it's not even balanced.

>>9784657
Agreed. When did the FB retards with their bottom tier standards start to leak into here?
>>
You guys know cheap also means "with little effort", I mean it's kind of retarded to argue about cost in a hobby we know is expensive.

Which you can't deny single badge bags take much less work to design and put together than bags with a variety of merch.

Had a blast putting together a birthday shrine for my boy Christophe
>>
Ok, I might get a stream of hate for this and I'm prepared for it.

The 'Valentines Day' shrine thing... that is cringey as fuck, right? I'm not the only one who thinks it's creepy to light candles and prepare a cake for an anime character? Like, fuck man, I love anime and video games too, and I love itabags, but I have seen plenty of people mocking dudes for doing the shrine/fake date shit with 'waifus' and this is the exact same thing.

For awhile I legit thought it must be people joking but it's finally sunken in that this is a real thing.
>>
>>9786686
Fuck off, reddit/tumblr.
>>
>>9786686
Since when did anyone in this thread mock dudes for making shrines? I’ll admit it seems cringey at first glance but really it’s just something fun to do and an excuse to bake or buy sweets for a character who means a lot. Same as when it’s their birthday. Probably some people do it who are THAT into their fictional waifus but what’s the harm if they’re doing it in their own homes?
>>
>>9786686
God forbid people having FUN, I must remain classy and above it all. This hobby is about being trashy and throwing money at something, I'd hate to have your mind set.
>>
>>9786686
Not doing something because it's "cringey" is stupid. The second you stop caring about what no one in particular will think of you, life becomes much more enjoyable. What's so wrong with doing something fun and harmless in the comfort of your own private space?
>>
>>9786686
>Loves portable public shrines
>shits on actual shrines inside people's private homes
>wow do I sound hypocritical right now

Let people do what they want with their life
>>
>>9786686
It depends on the person doing it. Most people have lives and just do the shrine for fun.

But then theres the crazy ass fujoshi/otaku who really want to give their virginity to the character. It's important to know that this is very very few people. So while it's cringy, it's mostly harmless fun.
>>
> not becoming your waifu/husbando

Now that I have money I'm definitely considering cosplaying my boy. I only have so much money though and I don't wanna half ass it ;_;
