Here's a shitty thing I made.

What happened? Did they get out of the base bag business or something?

Have any of you used Otsukai yet? Since it was posted in the fb group I wanted to try it but wanted to see if anyone else has yet
>>

does anyone know which base this is? this is exactly what i want for one of my own bags
>>
>>9863906
My guess is Wego.
>>
>>9863981
i figured that but WEGO has a ton of totes like this, and given that their site is missing half the stock i'm not sure which one i should be looking for.

>>9863999
Wego is discontinuing all of their base totes. Most of em have already sold out.
The heart bags seem to be the only bases they're going to keep, considering how many others they've axed in the past.
>>
>>9864066
i'm aware they're discontinuing most of their bases. i'm trying to figure out which model it is so i can find it on otamart/mercari by name because secondhand photos aren't always clear in terms of which one they're selling
>>
I hate how bnha is the now yoi in itabagging
>>
>>9864081
I don't think they really have names for their totes, anon. When I was buying my discontinued full window backpack I just searched "wego 痛バッグ" and found it after searching for awhile.
>>
>>9863741
wheres the lie
>>
>>9864066
Any reason why they are discontinuing the totes? This is the first time hearing this.
>>
How can I attach stickers or other flat things to my itabag without damaging them?
>>
>>9864310
What I've done-laminate the sticker (you could use clear packing tape if its a small sticker), and then tape the back to a piece of felt with a jewelery pin sewn into it. This keeps the sticker from getting dirty, its able to be removed and re-positioned like any other pin, and the felt+pin stick out enough to give the sticker a 'floating' look, rather then just plastered onto a fabric backing. I hope that makes sense. I can take a pic if I worded it badly.

I grabbed this boot just to compare it to the authentic
>>9864367
It is the right one, but there's not discoloration in person. I think the difference in the image is cause the authentic one has its clip tucked under and the boot doesn't have a clip
>>
>>9864385
They said "miscoloring" not discoloration. Just going off this image alone there's a piece of the hair colored wrong.
>>
>>9864396
Fuck I really shit in your cereal, huh?
>>
>>9864399
Not even the same anon, just pointing out the error. There's an obvious flaw to the bootleg, that's all. I mean if you can't spot it then I can circle it for you.
>>
>>9864403
No no I got it now thank you for pointing it out. I honestly hadn't noticed that before.
I'm entire intention here was to be able to easily identify, not to justify boots.
>>
>>9864361
I thought it was the right one, because the left is stretched out horizontally a little bit and it looks a little derpy. Also the left one's colors look a bit washed out whereas the right one has some deeper jewel tones in the darker colors.
>>
>>9864405
You know that the clips aren't always a good indicator and it just happens to be so in your case, right?

I have a bunch of legit straps with wonky clips.
>>
>>9864495
Yes I realize that just in this case with this particular charm the legit had a clip and the boot didn't
>>
Are you guys stupid? It's never been about "oh nobody can tell". It's the fact you're purposely buying bootleg merchandise when the fucking point of the hobby is to buy merchandise to support the very thing you love. By purchasing bootlegs you're directly harming the franchise you adore, you're putting people out of jobs, you're discouraging creators from investing money into new products.

And you might think "nobody will know", but *you* know. You're the piece of shit. Your bag is as much a piece of fucking trash as you are. The cancer that kills lolita, the cancer that kills BJDs, the very cancer that kills any luxury hobby.

I hope one day you work hard on a product and someone bootlegs you, then you can see for yourself the amount of damage supporting this literally toxic (trust me they don't use safe plastics to make these because this stuff is cheaper) bootlegs are.

Piss in my cereal if you want, I'm not a poorfag who can't afford to buy a real box.
>>
I never posted this here, whoops
>>
>>9864336
No you worded it great thank you!
>>
>>9864710
Still love this. Just needs a Betty.
>>
>>9864709
To be honest I don't really see it as being that black and white of an issue. Japanese companies get their merch made in China and when some of them don't meet the production standard they get sold off in bulk to other sellers, mostly on Taobao. These sellers then sell them at a discount in defect merch shops.

Are they still bootlegs? Yes. But I don't see the harm in having a few if you need padding for your bag if you're doing multiples of the same design and just need the extra filler. It's when your bag is mostly bootlegs that there's a problem.

The real thing that bugs me is when "poor fans" buy up an entire bag of these rejects or just outright bootlegs for their bags because they're cheap. Or, they go to a convention and buy bootlegs at inflated prices thinking because they're sold at a convention they're legitimate and try to tell everyone that even when you know it's not true.

So personally, I think it's less black and white and more a sliding scale of shit. There's acceptable shitty, annoyingly shitty, and then outright shitty.
>>
>>9864737
Factory defects are not bootlegs. Bootleg refers to a piece of merchandise that is illegally reproduced without license with the intention of turning a profit. A factory reject is simply an item that didn't meet the standards to be sold in stores. Rejects are a totally different discussion

So gulls, how many completed bags do you have? How many bags per character/series? Do you have any in progress bags or planned ones?

So far I have 4 completed, 2 in progress, and 2 planned. I'm hoping I'll stop eventually, but I've been collecting merch for quite a few years now and I honestly love that itabags give me a different way to appreciate and display my stuff.
>>
>>9865138
i have 2 completed, 4 more planned or partially assembled, and that'll be 5 if i end up picking up this utapri base i've been eyeing. all of this is for the same series and most of it for the same character.

i really don't know how you people with multiple bag subjects do it, because i love my waifu so much i feel like a man possessed trying to get every piece of merch i can, unique or not. i'm currently taking a break from buying to focus on completing bags, as i don't lack for bases or things to fill them with, but that won't last forever. i don't feel the urge to buy merch for my faves from other series at all in comparison; i'll buy a strap or two if i REALLY like them, but definitely not enough for anything more than a facebook-tier bag that's 90% empty.
>>
>>9865164
Thankfully my husbando doesn't have a crazy amount of merch like the Utapri boys do. And with my other "side" bags, I'm pretty picky with the merch I buy just in general. I won't buy something if I think it's ugly, and that's a lot of stuff desu.
>>
>>9865138
1 bag completed, one bag 99% completed (just have to finish stitching down my button belt) and another two in progress at least. All the same character, all the same series. His birthday's this weekend too, and I'm throwing a themed party.

I keep thinking about the idea of multiple bags, because there are other characters I like, but similar to >>9865164 I'm really just a one-husbando person I guess. He's just so perfectly in my taste and just had a big comeback so it's like all my enthusiasm suddenly has an outlet.
>>
>>9865138
I have two completed (although I need to re-pin one) that are different ship bags but from the same series, and one planned that's just a single character from a different series.

Klance itabags are the worst because they're so overdone and the ship is shit to begin with but I think Yoi bags might be the worst because despite the anime because mediocre as fuck they're all over the place and are the number one bandwagon itabag, it's even worse when someone does all fan merch despite the anime being merchfag heaven despite it being flavor of the month shit.

So basically I love this.

I know it's shit but still like it if you catch my drift, I like cheesy crap and cute fake anime boys.
>>
>>9865277
I don't go on the facebook group, I literally found this on google. I go on here, instagram and twitter for bags.
>>
>>9865138
I have one husbando bag completed and I've bought a base for a series bag but I'm waiting for merch to be released. When I came into this hobby I thought I'd make more bags, but I'm happy with what I have
>>
>>9865138
This is kind of a loaded question for me since I feel like my "completed" bags are never really complete. I'm always changing my layouts, adding merch, taking out merch, adding embellishments. So they're pretty much always in progress IMO.

I can say that I have 5 bags for one ship, 2 bags for another ship, a bag for a character in one of the ships and a bag for another character altogether. I'm the anon from a couple of threads ago that's going on a buying break though.

>>9865138
I have 7 completed bags, and 2 more on the way. All are for my husbando and waifu of the same series, except for two which are dedicated to a stage actor.
I have 1 bag that sort of sits in a limbo state as I'm very attached to the little shrine I've built for the merch that's meant to go inside it.
>>
>>9865138
5 completed, 6 if you count the one I built for my girlfriend. She paid for everything and I helped find items/build the bag, so it's sort of a joint effort.
I have one idea that I want to do, but can't really make headway on it since I'm saving money to move. Can't go spending money on oni waifus when I've got movers to pay and deposits to fill.

This is cute.
>>
>>9865164
I have two completed bags, and one set of never-completed bags for the husbando that will just continue to grow as long as merch is released.

I have a collection for a fourth character slowly growing on a pinboard, but it's more a product of opportunity than anything else. I'll go in for the character on box splits or toss a couple used items in a surugaya cart if I'm already ordering for something else, but I don't go looking for merch and they're an niche enough character I don't often stumble into things at cons.

>>9865269
YOI exploded in popularity the exact same time that Itabagging hit mainstream anime culture, so it makes sense that there are a lot of bags for the series. Especially because in response to YOI breaking records with an astronomical and unexpected success they needed to make a shit ton of merchandise to capitalize on appeal - and baggable merch like buttons and charms had the shortest lead team to get it on shelves for people to buy, so there was a LOT of it available. (this is why a bunch of the early YOI merch is screencap buttons/charms - it could go into production without waiting for new art to be produced and OK'd by several different departments)
>>
>>9865138
I have 5 bags at the moment, 1 I would consider completely done, 1 that's still in the merch collecting stage, and the other 3 being close to done, but indefinite works in progress. I have at least one other planned, as well as getting a new bag for one that I already have.
>>
>>9865438
Is this from a bizarro world where betty is a good mother?!
>>
>>9865138
I don't complete bags, I just really like buying the bases because they're so nice. I'm plagued with character tax for my husband and the other has a really slow release of merch. I've pretty much finished one though after blowing a load of money to buy literally every piece of merch he has.

Why is it so important for these people to have their con bags be accepted as 'real' itabags? Nobody would give a shit and everyone would leave them alone if they just called them con bags or show-and-tell bags or whatever.

Though I suppose I just answered my own question.
>>
>>9865870
Not only for attention, but I think a need for community acceptance plays into it.
We've talks about how validating it is to meet another itabagger or bonding over shared interest and these kids are seeking that, but without the effort it takes to make, well, a real itabag.
I'm hoping they'll get tired of people constantly shitting on their bags and move on to some other thing, but at the same time, any lolita can tell you about those itas that never change or improve. I imagine the same thing will apply here.

What's the general opinion on pin bags here out of curiosity? I'm gonna do an Disney alice in wonderland bag with pins mainly (along with some charms/plush keychains to put outside the bag and space fillers) and I was just curious to what you guys think.
>>
>>9866635
From what I gather, bags that are comprised mostly of enamel pins are called pinbags. imo they're a sub-class of itabag if they revolve around some theme. Since it's Disney and Disney pin-trading is a hobby in itself, you might find other sources from forums specializing in it.
>>

Nayrt but your bag hasn't changed since the last time you posted and you never take any concrit that's given to help improve it. So yeah, I don't think people really care about your plush when half your bag's empty.
>>
>>9869315
The only concrit that I've received that I have yet to follow is to texture the "blood" so it looks more like blood. The only other times I posted individually was when I got more pins for it and to ask about fabric choice for an insert. So I don't know what you're even talking about. Is everyone on this board against happiness or something?

A simple search on Etsy proves otherwise and that doesn't include Storenvy and Tictail, plus the other clown fucker stuff you can find at Hot Topic. If a character "doesn't have lots of merch" then make it yourself. Plenty of us have.

Like another anon said, she's posted her bag here multiple times and it seems to only have a few more pieces of merch, and she's taken zero concrit to make it better. Her bag's a hot mess, not sure why you're so fervently defending it. 4chan isn't some hugbox that's going to celebrate you getting a plushie. If you want backpats, post it to FB - she did and she got the validation she wanted. If you're gonna post a bad bag, expect people to say something or possibly be nice and offer concrit. Don't whine when your bags still a mess and people have offered suggestions to improve and you do nothing about it.

I’ve only posted my bag here twice though. Once when I first started and received the mentioned advice about blood and text. The other was in this thread with the plush. So again, I have no idea what you’re even talking about. And yes I have been merch focused. When I first posted here I only had a circle of tiny pins and one enamel pin. I’m just picky about what I buy. I posted on FB to express my happiness in finding the plush, not to show off anything new in my bag. I posted here to do the same. Clearly I made a mistake in doing so and I apologize for that. And clownfucker? I thought 4chan hated tumblr so why use the lingo?

How are you picky when you have a laminated sticker with a tacky white border? I searched the first page of Etsy and there were a handful of things that looked half decent.

IIRC You posted it not that long ago and gushed over another horror character with another anon. Also, I'm pretty sure the term "clownfucker" isn't limited to just Tumblr?

Anyways, bags.

Well anons, I attempted to make my first rosette last night. What a hot mess that turned out to be. Ripped that shit apart, and will try again tonight.

On the subject of anons/fb groups posting their bag with only 1-2 things in it. It really grinds my gears. I still have not posted my bag, despite it being nearly complete (for now) and having 10+ things in it because I feel it shouldn't be posted until it is out of 'beta' so to speak. I just don't understand. But I am a perfectionist, so I can't ever NOT see my flaws.

I'm new to this and I don't intend on buying bootlegs, but is it frowned upon if you have only fanmade art and creations and nothing official?
>>
>>9870623
Read the FAQ.
>>
>>9870626
I did but 'better practice' is kinda vague and doesn't tell me much about the general opinion. Like the use of non-replica offbrand and taobao in lolita.
>>
>>9870634
>>9870634
Tired of seein this every thread but okay.
No it's not generally frowned upon if you're using fanmade/selfmade merch and nothing official if it's for a series/character with little to no merch. If it's a series like YOI or Love Live where there's just so much, you will get side-eyed. The point of the hobby is to support what you love, and that involves bringing money to the creators as well. If there's official merch existing and you do not get any of it, no one's stopping you, but just know that there will be opinions.
>>
>>9870623
Yes it is frowned upon. The original point was to show your support by buying official merchandise and then showing that support off in a bag. Notice how Japanese bags almost always have entirely official merchandise inside.

How do you gulls make a bag for a more masculine character? I feel like polkadots, glitter, lace, rosettes and heart cutouts are too silly for him, but my past bags have been for girls so thats what I'm used to making.

I have the same cat ear bag and have used it as a daily bag for about a year with no damage or notable signs of wear (no visible scuffs, etc). Sadly not all taobao bags are created equally - even within the same design. It's best to really look into store ratings and product reviews when ordering Chinese originals.

Half the time they're buying from cons anyways which are always overpriced? I hurt when people buy figures for double their worth, especially.

Hi, selfposting my bag. Today I just decided that I’m done collecting fanmerch for this, it took like a year ir so, it seems. The blank spaces around the edges will be decorated with frilllllls. Pretty proud of what I gathered, considering seemingly no artists like to draw Kobayashi and I refused to not have this bag symmetrical.
>>
Does anyone know where I can find a good star window backpack base bag? I checked over the guide but didn’t see one.
>>
>>9872869
>frilllllls

Please don't. Just checked the first page of Etsy - I'm tired of people bitching about no merch when you can 1. make your own and 2. there's plenty listed online and people are just too lazy to look. You didn't even pin your matching merch straight, sis.

Itabagging is just so sloppy and cheap now. What happened to wanting the best for your favorite?
>>
>>9872904

Itabagging has gotten really big in English speaking fandoms - everyone wants one (or more) and they want them completed immediately, instead of accruing official merch upon steady releases.

So it's no surprise it's become sloppy and cheap.

Trying to find merch for an older show that doesn't have as much out. I've checked Etsy (there's like 1 keychain), eBay (there's a keychain, but it looks bootleg), otamart (some stuff), YJA (a lot of stuff, but a lot of it is the same handful of items), and booth (also some stuff but not a lot), as well as tictail which I don't think really had anything. I've also checked amiami but a lot of it is older stuff that orders are closed on.

I'm gonna go through the rest of the Japanese merch stores listed in the google doc tonight, but are there other secondhand sites or sites where people sell fanartist made merch worth checking out? Since it seems like secondhand merch or fan merch will be my best luck for finding stuff from this series.
>>
>>9873475
Just say you're not looking for fanmerch. Block them if you have to.
>>
>>9873478
For older series I would recommend Mercari! That's where I've had the best luck with stuff. As for fanmade I can't help you there, sorry anon.

>>9873479
Nayrt, but I've said official only and people still post. They don't care.
>>
>>9873478
Seconding mercari, and you should also check out storenvy for fanmade stuff.
>>
What is it about this hobby that's so incredibly unfulfilling most of the time when you're in the right? Every time I scroll through this thread and see this >>9864710 I'm struck with a wave of loneliness. Even though it's bootlegs, fotm, and cancer ships, everyone else is having so much fun.
>>
>>9873528
Because we'd rather see good bags and real devotion, than bad bags and bandwagonners.
>>
>>9873528
You've just got standards anon. Sad to hear you aren't enjoying itabagging as much anymore though.
>>
>>9873528
You can still have fun in this hobby without scalping yourself on bootleg bags/merch.
Stupid people are always happy, but that's not the only way to be happy in this community.
/cgl/'s not a good example since this community thrives on salt and mockery, but I mean, I've been to itabag meetups where everyone there is also pro-official and uses proxies and all that but we still have a good time. There, it's more like you're happy because you found a great deal on legitimate merch or you found your holy grail, etc.
>>
>>9873531
>>9873537
I have standards but I also feel terrible for looking down on people. I guess it doesn't help that most of my friends are broke students so it makes me feel worse when I look down on someone for not wanting to spend money.

>>9873584
I am very happy when I do find my grail, get a good deal, etc but at the same time I also want to help someone hunt down their grail, discuss merch, bags, and layouts, and hang out together with our bags.
>>
>>9873606
Yeah they can be broke students but they can still save up over time. They don't need all their merch RIGHT NOW. Or if they are that broke, they don't NEED to be in the hobby. They can always get in on it when they have a more stable income.

The hobby is one that involves spending money. You can't get around that.
>>
Anyone have bags or pictures of bags with this sort of pouch incorporated?
>>
>>9873606
I'm thankful for having people like you in the fashion :3 It feels like j-fash is not about actual fun content, but rather about converting money into weeb commodity.
>>
>>9873615
I meant my non-anime/itabagging friends, so I have mentality that makes me feel horrible for looking down on people who don't have or want to spend money.
Maybe I should try befriending more people with this hobby instead of complaining on an anonymous board.
>>
>>9873606
You sound like a pretty cool person to me, that exactly the kind of people I look for and I'm always helping fellow baggers on twitter find the right base or haul. Feels like you just need to join a discord and find like minded folks online and keep your RL friends as your beloved friends.

Has anyone checked out that Target bag? Someone on the facebook gave it a 9/10, but ya know, I don't trust them
>>
Ok guys fess up how many of you bought a load of wego bags in the sale just because they're dead now. I bought two myself and two for friends
>>
>>9874496
I totally missed them. In the short run its ok, I've gotta stop buying itabag things for a while, let my savings build up for other hobbies I've got, but in the long run, its gonna cost me more.

>>9874384
I mean, next time I go to Target I'll check it out, but from the pics alone I highly doubt it's any good.
>>
>>9874496
I was gonna buy at least 2 when there were still a fair bit of colors available bit at the same time I got hit with a bunch of shit to pay and ended up only being able to buy 1 for myself. I'm sad they're discontinuing everything, what a waste. With how popular their base bags are, makes me wonder why they're stopping production.

Is it just me or is hot pink a cursed color when it comes to tote style base bags? I've found that most fall into one of two categories: scalped to hell and back or ugly. Pic related is the nicest I've seen so far but I'm not a fan of the straps, I might just have to go the tote in a clear bag route.

A lot of kaito and meiko merch is the same rehashed project diva stuff. As much as I like PD I also like variety and the 3D models look awkward on badges.

J/k
Does amiami still ban you for canceling a preorder? I feel like if they hit you that hard all in one month, they should be a bit more reasonable, especially since its usually because they delay things constantly. A few hundred dollars every few months is one thing, but 2 grand all at once? Doesn't really matter how well a person budgets, thats gonna hurt.

Amico is a fickle bitch, she's not up for most excuses. Joking aside the only
time I've heard of them being lenient about cancelling was with a figure that did not look anything like the prototype, I think it was by either Griffin or Pulchra.

>>9876747
Nayrt, but yes. They are very common when it comes to figures, especially if it's Alter or GSC. I have a GSC figure on preorder that has been delayed for 8 months now.
>>
>>9876735
I've skipped out on two preorders. The first one nothing happened. The second one I was temporarily banned for a month. But I've heard people getting banned permanently after one and other's skip out on few with no consequences. So it can go either way.
>>

>>
Does anyone have any inspo pics for those Itamaker phone cases? I bought one as a temporary stand in while I build my collection. His series recently got an anime and I wanted to buy all I could before any secondaries drove up the prices even more.
>>
>>9876773
Meh. I can believe it.

I mainly only ever see girls have them at cons tho.
>>
>>9876735
I've cancelled 2 items, one was a lifesize wall scroll and I realised I didn't have the funds at all, anther was a figure set that was later revealed to be a build kit. I was able to cancel each with no issue, the wall scroll they sent me a stern email but that was about it.

I would message them though in regards to the amount of preorders you have because surely they must understand delays. If they were able to delay my package when the manufacturers messed up themselves, they might be able to do something about your order.
>>
>>9876771
You could make one just to have fun? Or maybe skip the bag part and just make a pinboard/shrine?
Honestly, my bags spend most of their time just hanging on a hook in my room, acting as decoration. I'm probably missing out on a lot of the fun, but I don't live near any cons or meetups.
>>
>>9876775

>>

It's been a while so I'm a bit hazy on the details, but basically Kadokawa fired the director of Kemono Friends and when fans got justifiably angry they tried to cover their asses by falsely claiming that the director was planning on leaving. I think they even made the seiyuus give some fake ass apology like they had anything to do with it.

I hunted down some stuff on my last japan trip for a general Blue Exorcist / Exwires bag but I'm not really happy with the base. I know I need to locate the gaps and I definitely need to find another merch set that includes everyone to fill it out more. Maybe a more neutral cream base?
