Is it morally okay to eat roadkill as a vegan? I mean it's not like it's encouraging further killing and the meat would just go to waste

Watch.
Them.
Vegans.
Squirm.
>>
You can't eat them but you can extract the milk that remains in their titties. It's known as 'car milk'.
>>
>>10897983
they'll just tell you meat is unhealthy and you shouldn't eat it or some other made up bullshit to suit their narrative.
>>
>>10898013
Ok, but the question wasn't "is it healthy?" just "is it moral?"
>>
>>10897983
It's a big waste if you don't

and they'd have to eat less vegetables that day because of it and that means less crops are made and less natural environment is destroyed, therefore less animals killed

its just efficient.
>>
>>10898013
What possible government conspiracy would be focused on preventing you from eating decayed and contaminated meat?
>>
>>10898013
It's certainly much healthier than eating treated processed meat

morality doesn't come into already dead things, their stupid "morality" argument comes into killing. they don't mind killing plants, and like the planet is only on loan to us dude
>>
>>10898017
Well, it isn't moral to legalise it because that would give a perverse incentive to people wanting to bypass hunting laws along with being a threat to public health. Wild animals can be ridden with pathogens even before their digestive tracts are ruptured by fatal trauma and they've been lying on asphalt for possibly days.

Not a vegan, but from the moral aspect it would be hard to argue you shouldn't utilize it unless you went for the "depriving carrion feeders like vultures, coyotes, coons, etc." card but that's fairly specious since it was killed by human interaction not naturally. I've stopped and gathered squirrels and rabbits that I saw had just been hit with a glancing blow, not smashed and it was fine eating. Big game would be another matter since contamination becomes a major issue with ruptured digestive tracks, although the haunches would probably be good if you saw it just struck.
>>
a hypothetical i've always wanted to ask a vegan:

let's say you are protesting a zoo that's keeping a lion in captivity. your efforts are successful, and the zoo agrees to free the lion back into the wild, but there's a catch. they give the lion to you and tell you it's your job to get it back to the wild. it's going to need to eat before you can get it home. how do you ethically get meat for the lion?

Lions are unethical and should be killed.
>>
>>10898915
The vegan says it is different because they have to eat meat, and it is REQUIRED for them to eat it.
>>10898017
Depending on the person, a lot of vegans have the thought process that eating meat in general is bad, because no matter how it died your still eating dead animals.
>>
Vegetarian here. Ya thats totally fine by me. I mean i fish and i ate a catfish that swallowed the hook and was gunna die.
>>
>>10897983
Some vegans will eat eggs if they came from a pet chicken that wasn't ever going to be slaughtered. But then you also have some vegans who probably think pets are inherently unethical too. Not all vegans agree on everything.
>>
currently, yes
but if this were ever to take off, then inevitably an industry would be built around it and you'd have people purposefully hitting animals to create "vegan-friendly" meals, eventually roads would purposefully be built through animals' territory to make these hunts easier, and as with everything the industrialisation of this kind of meat production would also become exploitative and inhumane, ultimately making it morally untouchable

so no.

Yes. It's a grey area but it actually doesn't violate any of the 10 vegan commandments.

ultimately the most radicals will be the ones setting the rules because being crazy gives you authority in a movement of people who came together not because common values or intersts but for a percieved theath/enemy
there is nothing supporting your movement other than outrage, a perpetual revolution
Such is the left, even if the world became vegan and animals didnt suffer anymore there would be children being born in a thousand years who have nnever lived in a world with animal cruelty protesting on the streets because it happenned once
>>
>>10897983
Um, no?
Don't you see that eating roadkill allows murderers to continue killing innocent animals?!
>>
Why don't vegans protest cars? They are one of the leading causes of animal death and roads are the leading reason for habitat destruction.

That would be really hard though, wouldn't it? Virtue signalling posers.

>Why don't vegans protest cars? They are one of the leading causes of animal death and roads are the leading reason for habitat destruction.

Let's not bring logic into a vegan thread. Their little heads will explode.
>>
>>10901581
Or cell phones. See, with cars one might argue that they are actually necessary to transport people to go shopping, school, or work. Yet for most people a cell phone is nothing more than a toy. A toy built by human slaves, and containing an enviornmental disaster that we call a "battery".

There was this weird-ass Hindu sect in the 19th and up to mid-20th century eating human corpses (animal corpses too). They considered themselves pacifist and vegetarian, wouldn't hurt any human or animal, but corpses were Awwright. So yes, you're on good company.

Yeah go for it, my main concern is factory farming. Raising your own animals and treating them fairly and then eating them also isn't a big moral wrong in my eyes. I still think it's better if you don't though
>>
>>10906120
>faggot
that would be the vegan
>>
>>10897983
Veganism isn't just about what you eat, it's a life style, for example they don't eat honey or ride horses because that's animal abuse.

Eating road kill would mean eating an "abused to death" animal, which goes against their "code" completely.
>>
>>10908830
Yet not one vegan has answered why they still use batteries, drive cars, etc. They are all about habitat destruction and random death of animals when it coincides with their ability to live an easy, modern life. But they will give up eating meat and other simple things that barely inconvenience them like horse riding because they can virtue signal around their friends and on social media by doing these things.

There are no vegans that do it for any reason other than virtue signalling. If they cared about animals they would put their money where their mouth is and give up ALL modern conveniences that negatively impact animals.

It sounds like you're the once whose insecure. You are taking a half measure because of your guilty conscience. I don't care what actions you take in your life at all, just don't convince yourself that you are an ethical paragon for eating less meat. Vegans have no moral ground over anyone else, and neither do almost vegans like you. You eat less meat because it makes you feel a little better about your existence. Great, it is doing nothing to positively impact the world, but if it makes you feel better it is an end to a means.

But the self righteous vegans that are fucking everywhere, crusading for animal rights and talking shit everywhere they go. Those are the ones I am after. What in the fuck is their excuse?

Roadkill doesn't go to waste, unless you live in some kind of completely arid steppe where nothing ever breaks down.
Local scavengers, flies, bacteria, fungus; they all get a piece of that sweet road meat. You don't need to eat it, nature will take it back.

"waste" is a term relative to humans

nature will very quickly reclaim the calories and proteins in the carcass, there's no such actual thing as 'waste' in nature.

and to answer the question, every vegan is vegan for various reasons, they're not a homogenous bloc of people with the same views, so their answers are going to vary.
>>
>>10908830
This 100%. They have secret meetings every second full moon and perform sexual rituals with the beheaded corpses of members who disobeyed their rules over the past period.
>>
>>10912567
>>10913493
I know it’s probably bait, but do you think “nature” is some sentient force that can choose to “reclaim” things?
>>
>>10913560
It doesn't have to choose, it just happens. Insects and other scavengers eat what they can get, down to the bone. Even bones get broken down with time into the soil.
>>
>>10913493
>there's no such actual thing as 'waste' in nature.
If by nature you mean "the planet as a whole" then sure. But waste is entirely relative to everything else. Bones are waste to many carnivorves who cannot consume them. An insect's exoskeleton is waste to a spider. Feces are waste to the animal which deposited them, but are food to dung beetles.

>Is it morally okay to eat roadkill as a vegan? I mean it's not like it's encouraging further killing and the meat would just go to waste

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Google "Moral Hazard"
>>
>>10897983
throw it away from the street and other animals will eat it, so no waste
>>
>>10897983
Literally stealing food from wild animals that depend on savaging.
