https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battles_of_Khalkhin_Gol

>The Battles of Khalkhyn Gol were the decisive engagements of the undeclared Soviet–Japanese border conflicts fought among the Soviet Union, Mongolia, Japan and Manchukuo in 1939.

>After the Japanese occupation of Manchuria in 1931, Japan turned its military interests to Soviet territories that bordered those areas. The first major Soviet-Japanese border incident, the Battle of Lake Khasan, occurred in 1938 in Primorye. Clashes between Japanese and Soviet forces frequently occurred along the border of Manchuria.

Zero was shown in the flashback and Sieglinde was shown to enter the cave where he was for her to retrieve him. https://www.goodreads.com/questions/572717-if-you-were-given-the-chance-to-write-a

Alan Moore I confess I don’t read many comics these days, chiefly those by my current Avatar stable-mates. So that would be Garth Ennis’s always-powerful War Stories along with anything else that the man happens to put out; Si Spurrier’s excellent and reinvigorated Crossed + 100 and his forthcoming Cry Havoc from Image; Kieron Gillen’s spectacular Mercury Heat, Phonogram, The Wicked + The Divine and, whenever he gets his lazy arse into gear, the next run of the exemplary Über; and, as mentioned earlier, the incredible Brian Vaughn’s concept-crammed Saga.

https://www.goodreads.com/questions/572805-hi-first-of-all-let-me-just-say-that

Alan Moore I really don’t think that it’s any more difficult – or any more easy – to craft an alternate world narrative than it was in 1985. Ignoring the perhaps contentious viewpoint that any fiction is in a sense an alternate world story, I’d say that my creation, with Jacen Burrows, of the alternate world of Neonomicon/Providence, with its Robert W. Chambers suicide gardens and its city-spanning anti-pollution domes is just as complex and involved as anything I’ve ever done, even if it’s not wearing its alternate world colours quite so brazenly, while something like Kieron Gillen’s excellent Über is a meticulous and carefully worked-out piece of extended parallel history that makes most other examples of the sub-genre seem frankly lazy. I think almost by definition, whatever the era or conditions of our own world, a story of a world that went a different way is always going to be equally as demanding and equally as possible.
>>
>>100527265
Alan Moore doesn't know shit he's talking about because writing a story, like all skills, fades when you don't keep at at.

What else is knew? The guy is radically against governments yet backs Jeremy Corbyn, the guy who literally wants to nationalize the railways again.

No. I'm in the same boat.

I've been entirely disconnected from comics for several years. Fables went to shit long before it ended and Saga is going the exact same direction so I've just given up on it. Scalped, Locke and Key, and 100 Bullets were completed. I recently read Prophet and that was a fucking trip.

It's a precarious situation, the Allies didn't give the Soviets their research on enhanced humans, making them work much harder to win against the Axis, but at the same time they've basically saved themselves a headache further along the road when they have to eventually deal with the only real standing power left in continental Europe with enhanced humans. This still leaves Japan in the game with China ripe for the picking and the Allies pretty much defenseless against Yamato in Pacific.

China was really weak in WW2. They were disorganized, suffered many defeats, lost a lot of territory and civilian lives. The fact that the allies didn't send them any intel on how to make tank men is only securing their complete defeat. Yamamoto will go completely unchallenged without any sort of allied assistance. China may be conquered by >>100526589
Japan felt they were the superior race. If they had the chance, they would have attacked Russia in WW2. They had the sea/air advantage, but were tied up fighting the US.

>>
>>100532307

That's all they need, the Chinese and the Allies on the mainland are fucked, they don't have anyone on Yamato's level to mount any effective defense since A) There are no Chinese enhanced humans B) All of the Allied enhanced units in the Pacific are sub-Battleship level and not worthy of note, they're going to get torn apart like the ones defending the West Coast in the US, the conventional forces aren't even a factor.

One single battleship cant conquer china alone and claim it too
How many troops did Japan had in china?
>>
>>100532449

They did attack Russia, and it went badly because their Army far less prioritized than their Navy, and their fighting experience in China prepared them poorly against the Russians. They wanted to keep the Red Army from being a factor in their ambitions on the mainland as early as possible, but they were already bogged down in China and focused on getting the West out of other parts of Asia. Their industry, resources, and their inability to become more flexible in doctrine couldn't keep up with the expanse of their activities.

She should be a little smaller than leah
>>
>>100532582

The Chinese already went through hell with dealing with the Japanese and the infighting between the communists and nationalists, a battleship entering the field would just break that camel's back. One single battleship alone can't take over the entire landmass, but the Chinese simply observing Yamato destroy entire cities could be the one thing that would make them lose the will to continue their resistance. They won't get any help from the Allies since they have their own problems to deal with, and by the time any help gets to where it's needed, the damage would already be done.

One of the houses near the ditch is 20 pixels wide. The ditch at the same y-position in the picture (so no distortion for perspective) is 540 pixels wide. A two-room house is maybe 30 feet wide, so that ditch is 810 feet wide, with sloped sides and broken earth. it's not insurmountable if you only have infantry. if you want to move vehicles or supplies (and remember tankmen may be infantry but they need more support than normal soldiers), you'll need to do earthwork on both sides of that trench, and you'll be sitting ducks for any patrols on the China side with even normal soldiers that have mortars or decent rifles.

It's cheap, it requires manpower to defend, but it's pretty much a wall against an army. A wall in both directions, mind you. So Japan can and must commit more forces to the Pacific theatre.

I'm not a flash fan but one version of Zoom did. He could alter time so he could move "faster" but he wasnt going faster from his own perspective. Though technically if he did that he'd die of old age in a single fight with the flash. He'd have to call a time out to eat, sleep, and drink every second.

The movie "watch stoppers" did a more accurate rendition of what moving normally to yourself but fast to everyone else would be like.

The building explosion should have been worse than the falling damage she just took since she went in an arc instead of splatting on the side of a mountain.

Thanks for doing the math! As we can tell the most middle part of the chasm is a No Mans Land. As you said, some artillery will just pin down or scatter tank men and eventually wear them down.

There were bridge building tanks in the engineering core, but they would be helpless once inside, and obvious getting them into the chasm would be a challenge.

That's probably why Japan is acting quickly to help knock the Soviets out of the war. They can commit themselves fully against the Allied offense once one front is cut off. They're already aware of the nuclear capabilities of the Allies so they probably planned for it.

I just want hey're actually going to use the heavy cruisers and the state of Razor's condition, he got pretty fucked up by Siegmund attempting to save his non-English-speaking ass. Even, Patrick ( aka Razor), didnt want superpowers. Perhaps they were asked and they told the recruiters to fuck off, because honestly, who can have a normal life after this?
>>
>>100536651
Except that logistical lines are still shot to all hell and transmutation on the scale needed to unfuck an economy that has seem the most industrialized areas of the world be essentially wiped off the map.

And there must be some sort of limit to that transmutation power, Germany wouldn't and repeatedly be mentioned to be facing shortages of everything if their Ubers could just fart out whatever they need.
>>
>>100536792

Don't forget, only Maria can do that. Siegliende can't.

my guess is that in the aftermath of Uber the dominant countries are going to be India, the Middle East, South Africa, and South America, as they've all been left relatively untouched by the war both before and after the introduction of Ubers
>>
>>100536792
>Except that logistical lines are still shot to all hell

This reminds me, how the fuck is Germany occupying the rest of Europe, in its current state?
>>
>>100537091
The British Empire could very well still be a thing after this war is over, all who the hell would want to fuck with a country with Ubers?

Detroit will continue to be the manufacturing heart of America after the war, for a really long time.

Also, there's going to be SO MUCH IMMIGRATION to the US after this.

The US is still likely to be powerful, the destruction of parts of the East and West Coasts hurt. But at the very least they managed to keep heavily industrial areas like Detroit intact. That and comparatively the US still hasn't taken as many civilian losses as the USSR, UK or Germany. Also nukes.

I do wonder if Germany as a nation will be allowed to exist post-war.

China is right and properly fucked though. Without Ubers of their own and with the Allies in no meaningful position to help them, there's little stopping Japan from doing the Rape of Nanking 2: Uber Boogaloo.
>>
>>100537205
I'll bet ten British pounds that the Soviets will supply the Chinese Communists with some catalysts before their removal from the war.
>>

Man, it would sucks to be Chinese in that world
>>
>>100537093
They don't. The rest of Western Europe except for Britain was razed to the ground by the Nazis.
>>
>>100537091
Nah. The House of Saud rising to prominence, maybe. But India? That place is going to be burning hot for decades, hell maybe even centuries if Pajeet can into Ubers. Once Ghandi's gone, the subcontinent is going to degenerate into ethic conflict that will make Rawanda look like Mr Roger's neighborhood. The poo will run red with blood.

South Africa?.. Heh.

If America is still around, that is. Maybe to Argentia and Brazil but... Chances are, they killed each other off.
>>

Yes. But this was more pre 1940 strategy. Japan loved the fuck out of England, Germany and America, but were scared as hell that one day that they'd get the same treatment Hawaii and China got.

>>100532449
>Japan had the worst tanks in WW2. Would it be safe to say that?
Japan had terrible tanks, that were more armored cars than tanks, but don't underestimate the power of the Italians. Pic related.

My pick for worst of the worst is from New Zealand, which was more or less a tractor with corrugated siding and sten guns, although to be fair, it didn't get deployed.

Yeah. But this is a liberal comic made for liberals by a liberal. In their perfect world, anyone to the left of them don't exist and and anyone to the right of them will continue to exist but weakly so that they can shit on them more with no repercussions.

>>100538347
On the other hand, a Bay of Pigs invasion composed of Uber Cuban exiles radically changes things.

Think of a cross between Mad Max and Congo War-era Africa: a wreckage-strewn neo-feudal hellscape run by various Uber warlords. Won't be much civilization around anymore for a century or two.

For any retarded operational, strategic or tactical plan you can find at least one high ranking Japanese officer pre and during World War Two seriously proposing it.

The proof is left as an exercise for the student, as is establishing whether the highest rank of a proposing officer depends on the retardedness of the proposal.

They had Sieglinde look for it in a cave a while ago.

Depends on whether or not the US is in any position to enforce anything after the war. Even if the US still has industrialized zones, they might not have the force projection necessary to subdue King Battleship the First.

Considering most of them comes from crime families, America wouldn't trust them enough to give them Uber activations.
It would be even more hilarious if the invasion ended up just like OTL because the American Ubers overslept and the landing force got creamed by Battleship Castro.

Or will they still be fighting? This is just the first period of unrestricted enhanced human warfare as said here >>100526182
>>
>>100526479
They're still, from what I can see, the strongest combat type against other enhanced humans. They should also be capable of throwing weapons at enemies and pulping them. A handful of marbles should be the equivalent of explosive bullets. Any open combat scenario featuring the Zephyrs should basically be, "One Zephyr speed-blitzes all present/visible enemies. Traditional Tankmen and Heavies roll in to blast down defenses, handle mundane troops and be aware of remaining enhanced. Two to three Zephyrs waiting in the wings to swoop in against higher tier enhanced, or sudden surprise attacks.
>>
>>100532223
It was a precaution when they were sending Tamara around occupied Europe, to keep her out of German hands. Since you know, the Germans would grab her, indoctrinate her, use her for breeding to get them Battleship genes, or whatever. There was a bomb in a suitcase, carrying notes that red-head had put in there for her activation, along with some classified info. Jew-Hulk was told that the suitcase would destroy the files in case they got captured. It was actually there to kill Tamara.
>>
>>100526204
>HOWEVER...
>>
>>100541092
We've seen limited bits of Uber sex. The Ubers have only been in the war for a handful of years, there's no promise that any have reared offspring, or that their children would be different in any way.
>>
>>100544984
The whole "can't interact with things" doesn't make sense. If them touching normal speed matter destroys it then they're retardedly powerful, if them touching normal speed matter destroys them they'd destroy themselves whenever they activated their power.

>>100543233
The Axis barely get a HOWEVER... even the loss of Siegfried and Sigmund is countered by the loss of Razor, the intentional weakening of the other battleship candidates, and the utilization of Battleship Zero as a weapon.

>>100542189
America only lost part of the East and West coast, the southern part of the Atlantic Seaboard and Gulf Coast were untouched

Fraternal relations aren’t a guaranteed for potential. Remember that the little girl had a brother with no potential.
>>
>>100546052
>Remember that the little girl had a brother with no potential.

IIRC,during the testing, the scientist said he showed no signs of activation potential... yet.

Maybe he could have waited a few years but he got a bullet in his head.
>>
>>100546050
Yeah, if they can use their diamond knives they can cut the shit out of anything. Now they are just hard counters for ubers waiting to be taken by surprise and become a waste of resources.
>>
>>100546181
You forgot, the Allies are retarded. Despite having a copy of the codex for months and a cryptology capacity that greatly outstrips that of Germany, all they've managed to discover is physical multi-stacking and Zephyrs, and the Germans immediately stole multistacking and can do it better. Meanwhile, despite having Germany's translated portion of the Codex, they can't replicate Geltmensch. Also despite producing enough Ubers that the Allies were able to rotate out combat units, their application of Halo effects and tactics is behind the Germans. German Uber units should resemble the Luftwaffe, a core of highly experienced and capable Ubers that are being increasingly worn down by constant combat surrounded by inexperienced Ubers who at best serve to funnel other Ubers towards the ace units with little institutional transfer of knowledge.
>>
>>100546228
The diamond blades themselves extend out of the protective field, there logically is nothing stopping them from killing every single non-enhanced soldier in range.
>>
>>100546050
Presumably the "field" extends far enough that... you know what, fuck it. I'm not going to fight for the logic of this, it's dumb and we all know it. It's just the author putting restraints on an otherwise completely game-changing power-set.
>>
>>100546391
What do you think you would get if someone managed to translate the entire codex? The perfect Uber?
>>
>>100546918
Well probably a giant list of potential powers that you could min-max to make a god-like being. For example, Dunkirk with a single Speed/Time stack should be capable of pulping just about every other character we've seen, barring Zero.

>>
>>100538174
I'm gonna laugh if it ends with some sort of liberal utopia future.
>>
>>100547309
The point of the comic, so far, seems to be that introducing superhumans into regular warfare is a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad idea. Based on some of the phrases used in the narration, it seems like there are still wars, post WW2, and presumably the technology and methods only improved after the war.
>>
>>100546050
>America only lost part of the East and West coast, the southern part of the Atlantic Seaboard and Gulf Coast were untouched
Many of the highly industrialised regions. The remaining industry is likely going into rebuilding, taking care of the maimed and similar endevours.

Supplying troops in a likely for centuries worthless Europe is a low priority.
