Somebody tell me why they thought it was a good idea to change the whole setting, thereby undoing the relations between characters and sucking the humor out of a character-based comedy show, and also not writing any substitute jokes because ''muh homage to a shitty genre''
>>

I tried following it when it first aired but lost interest, I recently went back and surprisingly liked it. It's not as good as the early seasons but if you binge watch it, I think it's actually decent. The Danger Island season is a bit better as well. Both are better than the Hollywood season before them which I didn't like.

Next season it looks like they're doing a futuristic Aliens setting on a desolate ship with sleep pods, I'm looking forward to it.
>>
>>101642917
I just stopped caring at Danger Island. Dreamland was a chore to watch but Danger Island was just painful. It made racist cannibals and mechanized Nazi combat boring as shit to me.

Honestly I thought the whole "Archer in a coma" thing could work, if they just stayed in the real world and paid attention to what was actually going on with everyone while occasionally doing flashes to show what was going on in Archer's mind.

they need to just stop and make a new series
>>
>>101642917
They changed the setting in the previous two seasons, they just changed it super even more this time
>>
>>101643538
>just stop and make a new series
I'm pretty sure FX ordered like 4 seasons in advance.
>>
>>101642917
Dreamland was pretty good desu
better than the figgis agency nonsense

There has literally never been a TV series that remained good when the main character(s) left the show, so it's utterly baffling that you, for some reason unknown to mankind, think that Adam Reed is going to be the first one to crack the code and get it right
>>
>>101643603
I mean it's a comedy and all but how the fuck are all these super spies so incompetent?
>>
>>101642917
Dreamland would have been fine if it had either continued on without Lana so they would have to come up with new dynamics or woken Archer up at the end
>>
>>101643628
I didn't say they had to completely get rid of the main character. I said they could still do jumps to what's going on in his head or even give entire episodes to these little fantasies.
Because I don't see the point behind taking the "It was all a dream" bit to multi-season length.
>>
>>101642917
Is he out of the coma yet?
I like the idea of alternate Archers, but either kill him or don't.
>>
>>101643538
This >>101643584
The creator wants to end it which is why the next 2 seasons will be the last
>>
>>101642917

It's a good solution to avoid the seasonal rot which was already setting in. Most of the characters stopped being interesting or having anything interesting to do other than just hang around and throw one-liners every now and then, so why not change things up a bit? I agree it's lost some humour, but I'm at least glad the show is trying something new. Also the show is supposed to end at season 10, so if you want to see it through to the end you don't have to suffer for long.
>>
>>101642917
Rewatched both the dreamland & danger island series with some friends & actually liked them alot more than we did the first time not watching them all at once. A sense a bit of a plot helped when we binged them though they're a bit weaker than the old show. I just really hope we get a final season back in the real archer world. Even if it's just to wrap things up.
>>
>>101644014
You need literacy lessons. He said he wants to stop working on the show after 10 seasons, which doesn't mean the show is ending, it means he intends to leave the staff
>>
>>101643916
No. Season 10 will be another coma-dream, "Archer in Space".
>>
Last five minutes of the final episode will be Archer finally waking up and being told that he had been in the coma since ISIS exploded in the Season 5 opener, everybody making last-minute jokes, and then all going back to ISIS spy-work like normal.
>>
>>101644881
It could be he's out of the coma because the only way to get him treatment was to freeze him until the future.
>>
>>101644014
>The creator wants to end it which is why the next 2 seasons will be the last
After the ratings started tanking and "Cassius & Clay" got canned, FX told Reed he could go out with 10 seasons but that the episode counts would be slashed. They're sending off the show and it doesn't matter what Reed does or doesn't do or how many fluff press pieces they can manage to get the Onion AV Club to write about its refreshing new direction, the show's ending. And no, I don't believe replacing him as showrunner will revitalize FX's interest in a show they exiled to FXX. There will be no movie, either.

This show is by the same guys who made Sealab 2021, which had an entire episode of every character just saying "Uh oh." They just don't care. They never cared.
>>
>>101643628
In theory: The West Wing
>>
>>101645687
When Reed pitched the show to FX the suits looked him in the eye and said "So, Homer Bond" and Reed swore on his mother's grave it would never turn into that. In three seasons that's exactly what it became and it became remarkably clear none of the show's writers were at all familiar with the genre they were parodying, so it devolved into "Archer get ipad" with insane plot veers, a shallow cocksmith suddenly becoming a family man and any number of "throw this at the wall and hope it sticks" moves, now to the point of being nakedly open about it.
If the show had been PopTeamEpic from the beginning like Space Dandy where there's basically no continuity between episodes, that would have worked great. This is a nowhere land between having continuity and having none, with no real reason to care what happens now.

Rob Lowe has always been the most expendable cast member of any television show he was in with the POSSIBLE exception of Moonbeam City. Also bear in mind that every character in an Aaron Sorkin show speaks with the same exact idiolect and are interchangeable for that reason.
>>
>>101645796
I don't disagree. He was great in Parks and Rec. Also they sort of did it again when they switched from Bartlett to the Santos campaign in Season 6/7.
>>
>>101645814
>when they switched from Bartlett to the Santos campaign
That was meant to be a storyline where Santos lost the election to show that it was possible for a peaceful transition in the White House between parties. When John Spencer died and they realized they had to write it into the show since Leo was Santos' running mate, the showrunner (can't recall if it was still Sorkin or someone else) said "this is too depressing, we can't lose both Leo AND the election" and they changed the ending. It was IMO a dishonest ending.
>>
>>101645868
I mean, I'm talking before that. The show shifts over to focusing on the campaign while the Bartlett administration takes a back seat, long before the election results.
>>
>>101645687
>the same guys who made Sealab 2021
Sealab 2021 was an absurdist pisstake of how cheap FIlmation cartoons were. Also, the rule in Archer threads is to compare Archer to Frisky Dingo and pretend they never made anything else.
>>
>>101645909
That was the endgame all along. There really wasn't anything left to do with Bartlet and as an ensemble show it was always about the White House itself, not the occupant of the Oval Office. The shift away from Bartlet to Santos was consistent with that, using Leo as the bridge.
>>
>>101645952
Sure, but again, I was just addressing the original point about changing main characters.
>>
Ive enjoyed the last few seasons but it hurts the show that they have an overarching plot instead of stand alone episodes. Its like you have to sit down and binge a season for it to be enjoyable now.
>>
>>101643628
Twin Peaks Season 3? Cooper wasn't really Cooper...
>>
Archer Vice was the best season.
>>
>>101644811
Honestly maybe the show would start getting good agian after this

Also why the fuck is the rule 34 community so shit to this show. Like every fucking anime gets 10 pages, but the main woman in the show does t get shit.
>>
>>101644958
Not terrible, but i wish they did this when the creator left .
>>
>>101642917
Its what we call: Running on fumes
>>
>>101646010
I'm an idiot who can't see the forest for the trees. Apologies.

>>101646139
Also, I wanted to suck Coke Pam's titties like a starving infant.
>>
Would this show have been better if it was on adult swim
>>
>>101646269
It was pitched to [as] first and they passed on it, even after airing the last 2 shows Reed ran. As much as i bag on Mike Lazzo for airing shitty cringe humor live action series, I think he knew this show would fizzle out after 3 or 4 seasons.
>>
>>101646209
It's honestly hard to make porn out of them because it's hard to stay on model, since most of the time we see them from the same perspective and drawfags don't have model sheets or just don't care to put the effort.

The best thing you'll ever get with Lana is that Epic Crossover video from AEHentai. It's good enough, really.
>>
>>101646291
You give lazzo too much credit because most adult swim shows only go for 2 or 3 seasons anyway.
>>
>>101646293
OP here, it's not hard to make rule 34 pics of Archer, it's just that nobody asks for them, it's one Pajeet without knowledge of the english language asking for 700 edits of the same shitty superhero cartoon from the 80's and everybody else wants Stephen Universe futa edits.

I know, i'm ashamed to be an edit/drawfag.
>>
>>101646293
I think maybe it's the art style, as much as I love Pam, aka best girl, the show just doesn't seem erotic even this scene >>101646209 and the one where archer and Lana have sex on camera were just kinda meh.
>>
>>101646209
>>101646293
>>101646354

It's because the characters aren't underage and/or cartoon animals
>>
>>101646354
Really tho? Last time I checked paheal they were mostly shitty edits from screencaps, and the ones that weren't didn't stay on model, or blatantly copypasted a face from a screencap into the body and it looked awful.

Granted, I haven't checked the Archer page for a long time.
>>
>>101646435
True
>>101646472
Yes, a lot of edits on there are fucking garbage by autists with waifus who genuinely think their work deserves to be seen by everyone. There are no archer edits because those autists are obsessed with one character from when they were 11, and that's it.
