In other words. The writers are cunts with a grimm view of the world (might have something to do with many of them being fat) and you can see their way of seeing things in their portrayal of every day people. They are bad people therefore everyone else must be too.

>>
>>90891834
I think there was something resembling a point in the Frontline version (think of how people in the media seem out of touch with the rest of the world), but the problem is the execution was so bad (and using Cap was a bad choice for this) resulted in "Idiot admonishes Captain America for not using Myspace" which made her look like a terrible character.

And then on top of that she meets with Tony Stark and reveals they know that Iron Man secretly set up Norman Osborn to kill an Atlantean ambassador, and that they won't reveal it. So from that point on Sally Floyd's bad aspects got stretched out even more.
>>
>>90892763
Except that given all the shit that's gone down over the years in New York (Inferno, Civil War, Secret Invasion, World War Hulk, Kang Dynasty, Fear Itself, Atlantean invasions, Mole Man invasions, countless alien invasions, Juggernaut rampages) it is impossible for any building in Manhattan to not have been damaged at some point.
>>
>>90890306
>>90890420
Out of curiosity, what exactly was the cause of the property damage? Was it heroes fighting heroes? Because if it was I can sort of understand, if it wasn't they're just being ungrateful assholes.

I still don't understand what the writer was thinking with that.

He was literally a criminal, who stole weapons from the army, that in itself is a serious crime worthy of being arrested over.

Ok this would only have something of a point if it was the guy hanging around outside of the building where tanks were being kept. That would honestly have a decent enough point about what she is trying to say. Like maybe his favorite food truck stops there and he comes early every day for lunch.
>>
Does anyone here really think supers wouldn't be treated with an eye of suspicion by civies?

If you look at Marvel overall, they go pretty damn light considering they aren't trying to shove a shit ton of laws on them or enforce more mandates. Can you picture identity politics (no not that shit marvel tries to pass off) being ejected into the mix? And god knows what kind of law suits would come out of the would work. From I had Cap's baby to Spider-Man stole my inventions.

It would be make sense for civilians to have mixed feelings towards superheros. They should be thankful that someone is standing in between them and The Green Goblin or Dormammu, on the other hand, collateral damage is really hard to forgive.

>>
>>90893340

It can either be that the insurance charged extra for damage from superpowered beings (which could be shortened to be "superhero insurance") and he didn't sign up for it, or the insurance company is stretching the definition of "superhero" to avoid having to pay...

Well, that, or it could just be that acts of war aren't covered, even if the being doing so isn't a state recognized by the US.

Even though Nightcrawler and a bunch of other superheroes busted her out, she decided to blame ALL superheroes for the actions of one superhero working for the government. She then joined an anti-superhero terrorist organization and had people killed. She was even planning on murdering the Champions even though they were all on team Anti-Carol.
All this because she was in a cell for a few hours and then got out and didn't face any further consequences in her life.
Also, even though she hates supers, she for some reason has a super-VILLAIN working for her.

Bendis is not the creator of the character "Jewel".

And he does "Bendis-speak" with every character he writes.

And HOLY HELL, there was never a time when Carol wasn't fucking all things up with her bullshit.

Has anyone here stopped to consider that self-reflection and not taking yourself or your works too seriously is a more mature and insightful means to achieve an artistic accomplishment?

It's not as if DC's putting out great stories of character development by making a select few characters sacrosanct.
Meanwhile half the *complaints* on /co/ are about how much someone loves a Marvel character that's not getting their due.

There's a whole buncha reality-warpers who have made their marks on 616 without direct ownership being established.

If Meph' owned it for OMD then that means that Wanda owned it up until then, and let's not forget GodDOOM...
And GodRICHARDS after him...
Do we count all those reality warpers in the X-Books? Legion? Phoenix? Eva Bell and her time bubbles? Hank McCoy and his home-made time machine?

Sally is not only still around pretty much NO ONE is allowed to have Sally suffer the consequences for the shit she flung at Cap at the end of Civil War.

Seriously; Dan Slott had her show up in Avengers Initiative, being a cunt and making a snide remark to Peter Gyrich (regarding his father, who has Alzheimer). Gyrich responded by ordering the IRS to basically rape Sally to death in terms of putting her on the list of people the IRS vindictively audit every year (which is akin to rape if you have heard tales of how bad it is to be on the IRS shit list).

Jenkins had a massive hissy fit and basically demanded NO ONE could EVER have Sally be treated in a negative manner/retaliate against her for the events of Civil War Frontline. Even Slott caved, in terms of backing away from portraying Sally as a cunt who you want to punch in the face,

>>
>>90895385
That's because of the rewrites.

Originally, the big inciting event of Civil War was Speedball getting Happy Hogans kid killed. Speedball was supposed to be yapping and shit, grandstanding for the public and one of the robbers he was trying to bust said fuck it and shot Happy's kid in the face.

They ditched that (plus Julia Carpenter killing herself after her daughter gets kidnapped post registration act going into effect, after the robber told her to start killing people for them or else they'd kill her daughter) and having the ending bascially be World War Hulk and Cap losing his powers.

Bendis actually likes Carol.

When fans shit bricks and attacked him for killing off half the Avengers team, Carol was the only one he deemed "worthy" of rejoining.

He also made her the leader of the Mighty Avengers team and shilled her as Jessica Jones' top BFF.

He also gave her a huge scene in House of M where she beat the living shit out of Rogue and gave her the angle of being the top hero of the HoM universe, which Brian Reed had to run with as the mission statement for Ms Marvel

If not, it doesn't invalidate the theory that Mephisto is manipulating these events all along. It would certainly explain why everyone in Marvel is so thoroughly miserable now.

No need to exaggerate. It only costs 2 million for an average apartment in Manhattan or roughly $3000 a month if you are renting.
>>
>>90904645
>Most of the listings for one bedrooms are in Manhattan, where prices hover in the $3000 per month range. If you are looking to pay less per month for one bedroom apartments NYC look to Brooklyn ($2000), the Bronx ($1250), Queens ($1350) or Statan Island ($900).

>>90904385

>"... the angle of being the top hero of the HoM universe, ..."

That wasn't "the angle", that was her (pathetic) secret wish: to be a success as a hero.

Everyone got their life-long wishes in House of M, that was the whole point.
And it was a great way to launch a half-dozen re-characterizations and story arcs all in one fell swoop.
Carol became a serious hero after HoM because she was still that person she was in the dreamworld, Parker took the deal in OMD because he learned that he didn't really love Maryjane like he did Gwen, and Wolverine finally got his true memories and stopped being a thug.
And how much could Bendis have liked her if he rewrote her identity?
>>
>>90904615
Mephisto didn't have power over any of the events in the last Secret Wars.
Remember how he acted to save the 616 universe's lives when Thanos got the Infinity Gems?
No lives / no souls to corrupt.

*IF* Mephisto had any control over the Beyonders or the power of a Beyonder-type being such as GodDOOM he would have never allowed such a death-toll across the multiverse.

Marvel needs to make more baseline human villains.
They need a Lex Luthor for every Superman - like they used to have. But they killed off too many of them.
Daredevil has Kingpin. Punisher has Jigsaw.
But all the evil humans in X-Men books died off one by one. And there were almost a dozen.
Captain America had a great evil rich Russian guy but they turned him into a Red Skull false identity in less than a year. Everyone else human is a nut in a costume.
Iron-Man had some excellent ones: Stane, Hammer, and their kin. But one-by-one they all traded in the pin-stripe suits for battle-armor and wound up dead.
There was a time when all superheroes had a mad scientist and an evil businessman in their rogues gallery.
There was a reason for that: it was a great gimmick to have a normal human confront a superhero and almost win.
>>
>>90906850

The issue is the idea of arresting someone based on a prediction. Ulysses's powers aren't perfect.

Stark, for example, was never ACTUALLY against the idea of pre-emptive crisis prevention, even though he was pissed about Rhodey' death. He's against the idea of pre-emptive justice, which, while similar in nature, is an entirely different animal when you consider the processes that lead to it, and the fact that no matter how accurate Ulysses usually is, he's not 100% accurate and has been proven to be occasionally flawed in his predictions

What SHOULD have been done for lesser crimes is the creation of a task force dedicated to preventive measures taken against the predicted act, and arrests made based on what was clearly attempted instead of what was predicted. If that was what Carol did, neither Stark nor anyone else would have much to demonize her over.

Instead, Carol did a lot of good at first glance, but also fucked up on many others (some of which got friends killed) and crafted a societial mindset that is warm to the idea of profiling, not to mention has lost faith in the very, very few people that would act in a morally respectable fashion in response to said profiling, only now said semi-reliable methods of profiling are GONE, which means Marvel civilians (and you know how they can be) are going to be open to the idea of a less-reliable substitute.

tl;dr Carol did far more long term harm than good based on the fact that she was right ONCE (and still ill-prepared) and Hydra Cap's going to capitalize on her foolishness.
