Previous thread: >>97275323
It's that time of year again. Time to share holiday comics, cartoons, comradery, traditions, and spread some cheer to your fellow anons.

As previous years share your Amazon wishlist and some random Anon may purchase a holiday gift for you. I'll have two of these pastebins going, one filled with the ungifted wishlist codes and another with all wishlists that have been posted this year.

To get your wishlist code open you wishlists on Amazon, then click on the name on the left side of the page it will update the URL at the top after /wishlist/. If you are using one of the international versions of Amazon please let us know when you post your list.

Amazon will automatically donate a small portion of your purchase amount to the charity of your choice if you simply type "smile.amazon.com" rather than using the usual "www". Doing this is just one more way to spread the love this holiday season (and the rest of the year too, if you so choose).

If you frequent the threads please don't spam your list number, if you want to keep sharing it please only post it once per thread. Just because you've posted your list doesn't mean someone will purchase you a gift. It's random how Anon's will choose who to buy for. But please take a look through some of the lists and see if there's anyone/thing you want to gift.

The pastebins will be updated at least once a day, if you have any questions or concerns you can email Elusive at elusive@techie.com

Amazon changed how their lists work so please post letting us know when you buy gifts for someone.

On a more serious note, it's a sweltering -1C/30F here, with Christmas forecast to be -16C/3F when I make it up to my parents' place, so I have to remember to actually pack sweaters this time.

Yeah, but our buildings are built with the cold in mind, so our -60C/-76F days feel exactly the same as our 45C/113F days if you're inside. Meanwhile, as soon as the sun sets in Mexico or elsewhere in LatAm, everything feels cold, and you can't really go inside to warm up.

To keep the thread rolling, what is something you either really enjoyed or feel proud of doing in the past year?

This piece was done for my pop culture-loving buddy who does stand-up comedy and hosts trivia contests in areas around my hometown. It's not my best work (aside from being damn proud of my recreating logos and lettering similar to the original cover). I refer to him as Cakeman because he used to bring amazing cupcakes from his family's bakery to b-movie nights at my friend's place when we first met. I designed the shirt shown on the left for him and felt a Cakeman/WKM mash-up on my favorite Silver Age cover would be fun.

So I've spent the night making a folder with so far 30 cartoon holiday specials that I'll upload and post in a few days. Most of em are from the 90's to 2000's cartoons but if people are interested in some newer cartoons I'll throw in more recent stuff.
>>
Anons, I don`t know who will read this but I must try. Having just come across this thread.

The year before last, I took part in this gift exchange, I had just moved to Japan, I was lonely, I had no friends, I had little money, I lived in a shoe box, and I was nearly going home I felt so bad.

A kind anon got me a Fionna plushie from Adventure Time that was on my wish list, I still have that plushie, it meant so much and got me through my first holiday period alone.

Now I am so settled here, have a great friendship circle, good amount of savings, live in a house with my best mate, and will soon get a permanent contract as a direct hire teacher, none of which could have happened if I had gone home.

So thank you /co/ and anon-friends, the gifts you give do help people in their time of need, this year I hope to repay the favour.

I hope you know the good you all do, again, thank you and I hope you all have a great Christmas season.

Just to keep the thread a bit busy and running, have any of you guys been traveling this year? If so, where? What were the highlights of your stay, what kind of food did you enjoy, what kind of places did you stay in?
>>
>>97337272
My friend found roundtrip tickets to Reykjavik for $250 so we're going next week. Should be cool. I haven't been out of the country in like 15 years.
>>
>>97337272

China mainland, Hong Kong, Thailand, France, Poland, and Italy. This year was pretty good when it comes to trips etc. China, Hong Kong, and Thailand were definitely the highlights

>what food did you enjoy?

surprisingly enough, the food that I enjoyed the most and even miss the most was the food I had in my university cafeteria in Shanghai. going there and eating rice with tons of vegetables and meat for like 1€ (1,50€ max) was always a highlight

>what kind of places did you stay in?

the worst hostel was in bangkok at the khao san road which was dirty as fuck and the best one in bangkok in the south of the city. the best places were the bungalows on the thai islands though. having a beach almost entirely by yourself and being like 20m from the beach is incredible

when it comes to sights though, I can't recommend China enough

I don't agree with this. You can give a table to a kid but you have to know what he's going, what he's going to watch and to monitor it.

If you give it blindly, then yes. That's when you have problems.

anyone know how long stuff from Kodansha Comics stays in print? noticed the akira boxset disappeared from sale directly on amazon.co.uk with only marketplace sellers which is usually a good indication of it falling out of print but it only came out more or less a couple months ago and i don't want to dip into my emergency funds to quickly rush purchase it and avoid missing out on it after christmas

>>
>>97338748

>They aren't as bad as you'd think

kids usually don't experience only the practical use of these things but rather sink into the addiction phase pretty quickly. it's not only games that cause addiction but even the use of the tablet itself. kids are programmed to adapt pretty fast to new things so the use of tablets, TVs and so on can have a pretty severe impact on them

modern women in general are very strange when it comes to kids. pretty much every friend of mine either has a kid already without actually being qualified to do so 90% of the time or they don't have one and are one step away from marrying any guy who gives them attention in order to shit out kids. a few years ago I thought the whole "ticking clock" thing was a joke but hell, it's hilariously real.
>>
>>97339163
True, my sister only got married because her and her boyfrient went "Eh, we're old enough. If we break up we won't find someone else fast enough" and they got married.

I really don't get all the fuss about marrying. I mean I'd like to do it one day but women, even though not living the religious life style at all act as if a marriage is the only way of being in a partnership when being over the age of 30
>>

good for you dude. as long as the reason is love, it's always a good thing. many people unfortunately do it just for the sake of being married which is rather sad. that's also why lots of people file for divorce

Apparently the BTM team kickstarted a comic miniseries version of their proposed sequel. First issue is either out or will be out soon.
>>
Hello thread, Hope your day was good.

3CNN1PGR12KIE
>>
>>97341767
Oh yeah, I contributed to that. I got the first two issues already but the envelope had been opened during shipping and the books were beat up. Still trying to get hold of someone about replacement, but apparently only one person is handling everything in regards to shipping and getting back to folks on any issues.
>>
>>97320448
I tried giving this a go, but the design is just too dang intricate to recreate properly. Sorry!
>>
>>97342012
Any good so far? After years of nothing much I fell of tracking the news of it and found out too late.
>>
>>97342037
To be honest, I became so focused on trying to flatten out the various dings and creases (on the off chance no replacements are available) in the covers when I got them in late October that I've not read them yet. Nathan Thomas Milliner, who does box art for Shout!'s Scream Factory releases and directed The Confession of Fred Krueger fan film, does the art for the BTM comics and it's written by the folks who did the movie.
>>
>>97342120
Yeah, I noticed, makes me kick myself for not finding out sooner and such.
And understandable. I'd be zeroing in on doing the same as well.

Wishing a very merry Christmas to 235AQ8RR6QFO6!, whose gift has been ordered and should be arriving very soon.

And to add to the list, here's my whishlist
29GLL5B0NDXZH (.co.uk)

Also, are any anons gifting comics to IRL friends? Im giving the 2000ad Ultimate Collection Shakara and Nemesis books to a pair of brothers i've been friends with since I was born, possibly throwing in a lenticular copy of Doomsday Clock #1 between them as they're both Watchmen fans but live far away from any comic store. While my friend who is currently doing a course on writing/fiction is getting Flex Mentallo.
>>
>>97342323

my friends aren't into comics at all. they're only into gaming so not even a hint of interest regarding comics. they watch some anime but that's it. my little brothers like comics so prior to getting my medical bill my plan was getting them some in order to learn english.

>Doomsday Clock #1

wasn't most people's opinion on that one that it was really bad?
>>
>>97342426
Personally I thought it was alright, but one of them has admittedly shit taste, and the other would like it just for the novelty of it.

Plus they always pool their money together to get me a 40k Space Marine (I keep trying to start a new army but i'm always roped back into the SM, Im a slut for knightly orders in Space) troop box of some description so I want to give them something that will around equal that amount and DC #1 is a good way of doing that.
>>
>>97342323

Shadespire is actually very fun, tactical and quick, and is trying to be its own thing instead of replacing Fantasy poorly like AoS did. The skeleton models are also fantastic.

Unfortunately Dwarves are still either those weird pseudo-slayers or Steampunk airmen (while I like the basic troop models, the more elite they get the more fucking ridiculous they look).

Took a half day today to burn some PTO, and was promptly reminded why I couldn't take a full day off. Also, found out I gotta drop about 1600 bucks on getting my brakes fixed. There goes the overtime over the last few weeks. But at least I can do it without being financially ruined, and they put me up in a rental car for free.

So that's how my day's been going. Not as great as most, still better than some.

All right, kiddos. It's been a long week, I just had to sit through a contentious meeting where people got really angry over inconsequential shit, and it's looking like I didn't get that job I interviewed for. So let's have some Christmas fun.

It's time for the return of Tajador's Christmas /co/ral contest. The rules are simple: Record yourself performing (singing and/or playing an instrument) a Christmas carol. Can be whatever you like. Upload it to vocaroo or Youtube or wherever, and send the link to secretsantajador@gmail.com along with your wishlist link and one winner will be selected to win a gift from their list. The songs will also be shared with /co/.
Some important notes:
1. If you remember from previous years, I can be a bit arbitrary with how I choose winners. So, while effort is appreciated, I do not recommend spending hours and hours on this because the stakes are not high.
2. Be as innovative as you like. You can do a contemporary song, classic hymn, parody, or whatever you like.

Entries due by 7 PM Eastern time on Sunday.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Christmas falls across the land
The midnight hour is close at hand
Children crawl in search of toys
To satisfy all girls and boys
And whomsoever shall be seen
Without the soul for red and green
Must stand and face the deer of Claus
And rot inside these well-decked halls

The sweetest smell is in the air
The funk of forty thousand nogs
And cheery elves from every store
Are closing in to spill your gore
And though you fight to stay alive
Your body starts to tingle
For no mere mortal can resist
The evil of Kris Kringle

I resent that accusation. My intentions were to pose as Hank Scorpio in order trick people into trying to solve a completely nonsensical puzzle with no real solution behind it. When the real Hank showed up, and some people thought it might all be an act to serve as cryptic hints, I decided to capitalize on the situation and roll with that to make my efforts look even more complex, diabolical, and genuine. I have nothing but respect for the man and his puzzles, I just wanted some mischief.
