Name a better /co/ romance.
protip: you can't

lol please

This is a romance that will last for ages, I can see it now. Hmm..yes, very good
>>
>>97870361
how can clown bois even compete?
>>
>>97870361

While I do enjoy their relationship, i wouldn't call it the best. For one despite the numerous hints that the two regularlyhave sex, there are very few scenes of them sharing so much as a kiss, you have to go with non-canon stuff for that. Makes it hard to say the relationship is anything but fap bait.

Heck the writers seemed bound and determined to make sure the romance is only hinted at with no real substance.

Makes me mad as hell, something real good and with potential squandered by unknown reasons. I just don't understand why DC doesn't capitalise more on Harley and Ivy relantionship, it's not like there aren't potential buyers just waiting for it. Hell it would represent as good PR too, just look at what happened when the Bombshell scene dropped, it was a good PR move from DC, it'd be more good for them if they actually commit to the relantionship.

Normies would fall Harley/Ivy the same way, if they were to get an ounce of the attention Harley/Joker gets in TV shows or movies normies would fall for them. There's literally no excuse to make them a thing

>Forgetting that Ivy hates all human life and has since her creation with the only exceptions being Batman because she thinks he's the pinnacle of what a male should be and wants to get filled with his 'seed', and Harley because they obviously have a sub dom relationship and she gets off on Harley's need to be bossed around.
>Also forgetting that even in a relationship Harley hops on cock any moment the mood suits her if Ivy/Joker isn't keeping her on a short leash. Inevitably leading to baby mama drama and a split up.
>Pretending either character will ever make a lasting relationship work without abuse or changing their personalities to the point that they're nothing like what the characters they once were.

That's only because there's no such thing as straight romance in capeshit any more.

What are you on about?. Netflix-based shows are filled with gays and lesbians, Hell I know of one Netflix one based on Spain of 19something that has lesbian couples.

There availability of LGBT couple on Public TV and Movies is risky, I admit, but when it comes to streaming services like Netflix or the DC one that's its gonna launce sometime there are not such restrictions
>>
>>97872112

Not the same guy but please tell me you're not using fanfiction as a counterpoint.
>>
>>97872945
Like there are any difference at this point. Some fanfics writers have better grasps at the characters than some professional ones, you gotta admit
>>
>>97870361
Fuck off, Harley isn't good enough for Ivy.
>>
>>97873058
It comes down to the level of pandering that fills the fic. You have a point regarding how 'some' unprofessional creatives treat characters better than 'some' professional ones but there's always going to be the biased hued shades you wear as a side result.

It's like the camp that treat Batman the animated series as the de facto canon and any deviations from that is seen as blasphemy vs the camp that consider the comics to be the true canon. Generally there's 100 bad fanfics for every decent one.
>>
>>97873294
And that's what I'm referring. True when one talks about fanfic it covers both the good and bad, but this time I'm referring to the good part, to the good writers of that side, also it's not like some fanfic-y thing haven't made canon later down the road, Geoff Johns letter comes to mind
>>
>>97870863
Because the romance was legitimately nothing but fapbait back in the 90's and it's metastasized into what it is today be people reading too much into it. Timm and Dini are horny little fuckers who wanted to sneak some PG lesbian sex into their tv show because they found it hot, nothing more.
>>
>>97873402
>implying that’s bad
girls with girls should be used for cheesecake, not muh lgbt representation
>>
>>97873402
And that's it what should always be? Fapbait? Shouldn't it be some progression outside of that, even if what you said about their creation it's true?. Shouldn't Harley/Ivy be treated differently? People want Harley/Ivy to be romance because they see a potential for romance there, even if it is "reading too much into it

Batman and Superman.
>>
>>97873353
But it doesn't work in that sense because you're stating that the 'good fanfics' prove that guy wrong but the 'bad fanfics' don't factor into the argument. I agree that the good ones shine when they're on point, but the bad ones still factor in if you using the medium as a counterpoint.

Based on what that anon said I'm gonna assume he must be one of those Animated Series die hards.
>>
>>97873575
Anyway, all I'm saying is that a Harley/Ivy having a true relantionship, as in a monoganous one wouldn't change them as much as say Batman and Catwoman does to them. Really, it's just that writers hasn't explored that side of them
>>
>>97873468
I vote for them
>>
>>97873645
Idk man, I get what you're trying to say but the fact that just about all mediums show Harley as a free spirit ditz that'll sleep with anyone, and Ivy doesn't really have much going for her regarding a relationship. They'll always float back to each other, but just as quickly they'll break off again.

It isn't that a monogamous relationship between these two hasn't been explored, its more that neither one can pull it off. Unless you change the core of their personalities.

Also I totally agree with you on the Batman Catwoman stuff, like hell they would ever get married.
>>
>>97874189
>the fact that just about all mediums show Harley as a free spirit ditz that'll sleep with anyone

That was just something New52 introduced, before the reboot she hardly had any relantionship or sexual encounter at all. Her character changed, and that its proof that her relantionship with Ivy can change too, if some reboot could change people perception of Harley to the point that you can describe her as some "free spirit dits that'll sleep with anyone then some other thing, other medium can chnage people perception of them. Hell it only was enough for ONE movie to come out for Harley/Joker to not be abusive anymore, even though we both know that's bullshit
>>
>>97873645
Harley's only story, her only plot is her relationship with Joker, Harley/Ivy in a relationship would be the end of her plot besides nobody would accept that end as final and definitive, just saying but there's no way comic fans would accept that instead it would be consider non canon.

In comics great stories are those become canon when DC includes them adapting or rewriting them in the DCU, if fans think a story is garbage then it won't be canon
>>
>>97871896
Is there seriously no one who doesn't want Dick's dick
>>
>>97872774
Yes yes yes
>>
>>97874397
If you took Dick's dick, Jon Snow's ass, and Alan Moore's beard and frankenstein'd them into one being, you would know what the perfect man looks like.
>>
>>97874353
Comic fans want that, they'll be asking for that for years. There's hasn't been a good Harley/Ivy story as a relantionship because (like I said before) writers haven't explored that side yet even though there's are a demand for it, and for comic readers themselves. Harley/Ivy isn't something that would come out out of the blue, it wouldn't be something unexpected, in fact people are expecting that. It would be the end of her plot, but it also would be the beginning of something new, just because some plot ends it doesn't mean another new can't be created
>>
>>97870361
Red and Green just go together.
>>
>>97872112
>Also also forgetting that if it came down to it, Ivy would ditch Harley in an instant just to save her own neck. All that matters in the end is her and her plants. Human life is a secondary priority, and that's only if she's in a merciful mood and not in one of her "all meatsacks must die" moods.

Oh for fuck sake. I'm fine with Harley and Ivy being friends, but you know what you easily impressed shipping fags fail to realize? A romantic relationship between the two does nothing for them, it makes them, especially Ivy, fucking stagnant. Harley breaking away from Joker wasn't character progression, because theoretically "Harley Quinn" shouldn't even exist when not with The Joker. Ivy went from a seductive ecoterrorist to Harley's boring rug muncher, and its only gone on this long because stupid fucking fangirls/shippers would rather slurp up "ITS CUTE" than actually read a good story
>>
>>97875397
Theoretically Superman shouldn't have been able to have a son with Lois, but what do you know Jon exist. The same can be applied to Harley's character ditching the Joker, and Ivy is only stagnant because writers have this idea that Lesbian relationship is some magical thing instead of being just a normal relationship like any other just this one is between two women.

That's nowhere near the same thing. An asspull explanation regarding alien DNA, something that's been a part of Clark's character for decades, is suddenly the same thing as Harley's character being nonsense for the sake of having their cake and eating it too? Get the fuck out. Ivy is stagnant because oh look, she's dictated by whatever the fuck Harley is doing now. She is now a side character, and it wouldn't make a difference if they were actually together, which they kind of ditched and just made them fuck buddies. White Knight may be a bullshit elseworlds, but they're right about Harley just being Doctor Quinzel when she's actually sane. But no, idiots like you just want a do nothing wrong looney tune that just makes 2 characters fucking boring
>>
>>97875672
Supes and Lois having a kid is the same kind do ass pull of Harley ditching the Joker, that's a fact. What people want is just for Harley and Ivy to be in a relationship, nothing more, this too goody crap is something you made up. People would be happy if DC stopped fucking around and made Harley and Ivy be together in a relationship nothing else changed, hell they could be two villain but as long as they are in a relationship people would be happy
>>
>>97875729
Oh and what is happening to Ivy is the same that happens to every character in a relationship, the same thing happens with Lois, the same thing happens with Mera, the same thing happens with Selina.
>>
>>97875729
>>97875757
>What peopel want is for Harley and Ivy to be in a relationship, nothing more
Um, you don't speak for me, friend. Its not character progression, its watering down 2 villains into fucking nothing
>>
>>97875287
A regular comic fan who buys his books in a store won't be interested in any story focus on Harley/Ivy as a couple, they're not interested in the premise. Harley/Ivy has some fans but those are other audience, a smaller audience.

Ivy has always been a waifu, their waifus aren't gay, Harley is for them Joker's girlfriend.

Please don't tell men believe lesbians are hot cause hot shit doesn't build classic stories. That's fine for porn and forgettable things.

It's like the difference between one night stand and a wife.
>>
>>97875811
If 2 characters being in a relationship waters them down then no character should be in it then, not Supes, not Bats, Aquaman, Flash, because it sure that their relationships waters them down

>>97875850
Everything, and I mean everything, can be build into classic sorry with the right approach you just have to think outsider the box. The concierge reader of today might not want them but the comic reader of tomorrow might want it, you would never know if you don't try
>>
>>97875948
Its not the same fucking thing! Alright, they're in a relationship, who fucking cares, where do you go from there? What, are they Bonnie and Clyde? Full on heroes? Does Harley go back to being a murderous psychopath and does Ivy go back to wanting to cover the Earth in plant mutants thus being an embarrassment to The Green? Answer me that. It doesnt fucking make either of them more interesting, it just labels them as "the lesbian couple of DC" and basically just makes them just that. Kind of like how Miles is just "The Black Spider-Man" because writers refuse to do anything else but that. Better example, when they made Iceman gay, what did that add? Nothing. It just made Bobby "the gay guy of X Men" and now hes fucking boring. Tell me, what is it adding? What interesting story is resulting from it?
>>
>>97876070
Their situation isn't the same as Iceman, you retard. Their situation isn't the same as Miles.. well you know what their situation is the same as Miles in that writers refuse to do something interesting with them. Them being in a relationship would make Ivy interesting just for the fact that it would get rid of her issues I'm human and in doing so be more open to more stories since Ivy won't have that sense of untrust like before, it would make Harley interesting by the simple fact that she now has someone that's her back unconditionally, hell like I said think outside the box. Make them interesting, there could be drama, there could be comedy, there could be anything. Harley/Ivy is one of the few relationship where you could stick them into any situation and they won't feel off in them. Create a romcom story with them, a crime story with them, a comedy story with them, drama story, double date, etc. Harley/Ivy has potential for story as a couple.
>>
>>97876248
Alright, I can accept the idea of both of them finding a romantic relationship given their past history with men. But that is a very thin line that can easily fall into tumblr tier "stronk woymin" writing if done poorly. So then what, are they still villains? Wouldn't Harley realize that Ivy is also a bad influence for her given that Ivy is actively seeking to put human lives at risk in a warped vision of saving the planet? Or would both become reformed heroes? Because the latter is so overdone its maddening. Already happened to Killer Frost
>>
>>97876379
> So then what, are they still villains? Wouldn't Harley realize that Ivy is also a bad influence for her given that Ivy is actively seeking to put human lives at risk in a warped vision of saving the planet?

If she loses her untrust on humanity then she would try to seek another way to help plant life while preserving human life, I admit it may sounds like reforming Ivy but her others characteristics remains the same, since if she trust Harley enough to be in a relationship and Harley doesn't fail her then the rest of humanity can't be all that bad, right?.
>>
>>97875948
>Everything, and I mean everything, can be build into classic sorry with the right approach you just have to think outsider the box.

The couple is doomed, the right approach could be one you don't want to see. First at all a story about a gay character rescuing a girl in a bad relationship doesn't work for a story accepted by fans cause it is the kind of plot comic fans despise. Sometimes they tolerate it cause the character involved is really loved like Batman or Joker but usually a cliché romantic story is ignored and hated.

The very premise is hated. And DC doesn't care about what readers MIGHT want in the future, we're the present and that's the only thing matters.
>>
>>97876746
>First at all a story about a gay character rescuing a girl in a bad relationship doesn't work for a story accepted by fans cause it is the kind of plot comic fans despise.

It's despised because it's been done wrong before, but I assure you even a premise hated by fans can be loved if the writers do a good job, not premise is always hated just like how every premise is loved
>>
>>97876248
not him but tell me what gay character has a comic that sells today? a comic.
>>
>>97876831
>It's despised because it's been done wrong before, but I assure you even a premise hated by fans can be loved if the writers do a good job, not premise is always hated just like how every premise is loved

no, it doesn't matter how good the writing is comic readers won't give it a chance they just don't like the premise, they don't want to see that happening.

Let's think of a universe with this premise: Harley is a man and he fell in love with Ivy, he's the hero wants to save Ivy from herself, Ivy falls in love with him.

You don't want to read that story unless you remember constantly Harley used to be a woman cause what you want is a gay couple. Now imagine DC makes it canon, you won't accept that, you're going to call it an alternative universe but you'll always remember the original version as the real one.

It's something like that
>>
>>97870863
fuck you, degenerate.
>>
>>97877024
>You're not giving it a chance!
That's pathetic. Readers did give it a chance, in Harley's book when they were essentially fuck buddies, and it did neither any good. Its you wanting a cute/boring pairing to self insert rather than making decent stories
>>
>>97876862
Okay, you got me with that one.

>>97877024
If the characters remains themselves and the only thing that changed was Harley's sex then I wouldn't be mad nor I wouldn't like it. Hell I would even want to read the story with the same energy that I want it now

>>97877198
Readers give them a chance and it sold, but then Palmiotti and Conner overplayed their hand and overdone it to the fact that it was apparent to everyone that Harley/Ivy were never gonna get pass the phase of fuckbuddies and everyobe got tired of their bullshit and baiting for sales
