Got a sample of Richwood. Put some on my wrist. That sour/bitter citrus stuff in the opening throws me off a bit, even up close after about 45 minutes I still get some of that, but the wafts I get from a distance are heavenly. Creamy sandelwood+vanilla+patchoulli. Dont really get much rose, but I can never smell rose.
>>
I know Creed Aventus is something of a meme around here

but is it really that bad as an everyday scent?
>>
>>13492372
Not that bad as an everyday scent. It is a bit expensive for that though. You will also not be unique whatsoever. Aventus is a top seller.

>>13492301
Will do! I didn’t use any samples yesterday because I had a meeting at the bank, so I was already wearing fragrance when they arrived. I’ll try at least a couple today.

The Czarnecki line has some interesting frags. I’ve tried Shihan previously which is nice, though I didn’t like it enough to buy it. These two that I ordered have incredibly interesting note breakdowns, though. I mean, Venom of Angel has coconut, white chocolate, pepper, ivy, aloe vera, and a bunch of other stuff. I had to try it.
>>
>>13492384
Aventus is a top NICHE seller. Most people who wear fragrance regularly, which is already a relatively small percentage, aren’t wearing niche. Most people couldn’t conceive of paying 300.00+ for fragrance.

Plenty of people have never smelled Aventus before, you’ll be unique enough.

I didn't like Eau Fraiche when I sampled it, really thin and kinda clinical citrus to my nose. On the other hand, VPH was a pretty cool, masculine, "business casual" kind of fragrance. Only downside is it projects for 3-4 hrs tops. Wouldn't get EF, but I enjoyed VPH and may cop.
>>
This dude again.

Trying Venom of Angel on one hand, Bluebijou on the other.

Venom is interesting. It’s not as sweet as I thought it’d be considering the cane sugar, coconut, and white chocolate notes. It has this sort of generic fresh cologne scent, but then a creamy, almost buttery thing going in the background. I definitely get the Ivy and Aloe as well.

Bluebijou, I get the blueberry and cognac upfront, as well as the violet and some nice dark chocolate. Fairly sweet. Actually reminds me a little bit of Amongst Waves, oddly enough. The combination of the blueberry and the violet smell not unlike the melon note in AW. Very interesting.

I like both. Not sure yet if I like either enough to cop. I’ll see how they develop.
>>
I bought Dior Homme Sport from Notino and before ordering they confirmed via email that what they have in store is the 2012 version but the code on the packaging is 7X01 so Oct 2017. Is it possible that it actually is the 2012 DHS? I don't want to unwrap the bottle if most probably I'll have to return or resell it...

could someone here explain the point of perfumes? I've never found them attractive on women and I've never smelled one that I wanted on me.

my sister is somewhat knowledgeable about high end fashion and she recommended some to me but I just found it pointless
>>
>>13492845
>>13492845
2bh, women's perfumes, I think, are only appropriate for older women, since they may actually enhance the experience of others around them.

For younger women, why would you need to do that unless you had been smoking or something to obviously make you smell bad? Otherwise, women are naturally less odorous than men and you can just lean on your looks for how attractive you are.

I'm going to college soon, I've gotten /fit/ and I'm working on getting /fa/ but I'm not sure how to get /fra/ exactly, can you guys recommend some scents that will work well with campus life in general while still being unique? >>
>>13492637
Update: Bluebijou has turned a little bit skanky. I think it’s the oud and/or truffle. Still has that Amongst Waves vibe going. It’s kind of like a softer, more animalic AW.

Venom of Angel has gotten sweeter and creamier. The generic cologne vibe is gone, now it’s all about the white chocolate. Soft, sweet but not too sweet, I got a tiny bit of the coconut, but mostly it’s the white chocolate. Pretty nice. Might cop at some point.

Most people don’t buy from fragrancenet, though. They buy from duty free at the airport, or a department store, or a drug store or wherever. The people who order from fragnet are mostly fragrance connoisseurs, so they’re ordering more niche scents than the general population.
>>
I applied some ADG profumo, once on my neck, once on my wrist around 11am.
It was about 8pm and I smelt a slightly spicy, woody smell that definitely isn't the drydown of profumo to my knowledge.
It to me is how I picture Oud Wood to smell, as its too hot to buy a sample and test it right now
Any other explanations for this?
>>
What's a good, long-lasting fragrance with a masculine scent (like something your grandpa could have worn) that is easy on the wallet? I found some Quorum stuff that sounds good, but I want a long-lasting scent. I really know nothing about this stuff.
>>
>>13493304
Probably patchoulli, you dont smell it with that aquatic stuff over it but pachoulli stays on your skin pretty long on some of my frags and smells a bit like what you describe.

davidoff zino
>>
Round 2 of Samples; Pacific Rock Moss and Blue Cypress from Goldfield and Banks.

PRM is sweeter than I thought. Has an odd note that smells almost a little like almond. Can’t quite place it, maybe the geranium. Not bad, but I don’t love it.

BC smells like a generic body wash to me. Nothing special to me.
>>

The thing with most of those traditional cologne type scents is that they don't last very long by nature. You could go for something like a decant of Neroli Portofino Forte, or something cheaper like Mugler Cologne or Ferrari Bright Neroli and carry around a travel spray and reapply throughout the day.

Your thoughts on it? How is the current version?
Lots of people swear by it, but also recommend to get vintage if possible, which puts me off, don't want to get an anemic version of something that was amazing before. I was looking into it when I wanted something nice and leathery, now looking towards La Yuqawan.

concentration doesn't make all the difference, it's more about the ingredients used. If zino was an edp it would be dangerous to the population. I get pretty solid longevity out of mine and it radiates like a motherfucker

Eau de toilette is the concentration of oils it contains. In general it goes, eau de cologne (2-5%), eau de toilette(5-10%), eau de parfum (10-20%) and finally parfum (as high as 40-50%). It doesn't mean one is better than the other, just that the concentration is higher.
>>
>>13491721
CB I hate Perfume TO SEE A FLOWER, anyone have experiences with the maker or this perfume? It sounds absolutely wonderful from the reviews.
>>
>>13493498
It's.....weird. Not bad or anything it's just that it smells so unique. It's literally like cut grass and and someone potting plants. This will sound poncy but it smells less like a fragrance and more like someone captured the smell of being outside and put it in a bottle.
>>
>>13493508
That's great! That's exactly what I want! How long does it last?
>>
>>13493509
Been a while since I wore it, but iirc it doesn't last a long long time, though there are different concentrations. Have you ever walked into a greenhouse where someone is growing tomatoes or something and they pour water on them and you get this....green smell? That's the closest thing I can think of to kind of what it's like.

i keep hearing complaints for "poor longeavity." just what do you guys expect from a scent? anything that can give you 6 hrs is great desu, especially is it's a summer scent since they tend to use citruses that are very volatile and evaporate quickly

I think I'll end up regretting having sold my bottle of Tone Indeterminée by Zara. Can anyone compare it to Valentino Uomo (which is what it's supposed to smell like)? Or should I trash it just because it's a Zara fragrance?

>>
>>13494106
Doesn’t matter where it’s from, m8. If you like it, keep it. If not, get rid of it. It’s that simple. Don’t get rid of something you like because of autistic internet snobbery.
>>
>>13494141
Yeah, I guess I'll have to learn from this one. Not a big loss, anyway. The drydown felt kinda harsh to my nose, I just really liked the opening.
>>
>>13494163
Valentino Uomo is relativley inexpensive as well and blows any Zara fragrance out of the water.
>>
>>13494185
That kinda comforts me. I think I'll get a decant and see how the two compare. Thanks, anon.

>>
>>13494202
I really like the rose on it, it is my go-to scent for formal situations (unless it's too hot or too cold) and I can see someone saying it smells like an old lady, I guess it's a matter of preference. Longevity on my skin is also really good. Don't know about it being reformulated either.

>if you can only have 2 frags what would you get with a $300 budget?
Acqua di Parma Ginepro di Sardegna or Diptyque Tam Dao
L'Artisan Fou d'Absinthe or Penhaligon's Endymion

all are year-round scents imo, with the AdP/Tam Dao leaning toward the warmer months and Fou d'Absinthe/Endymion leaning toward colder weather
>>
>>13494745
Most department stores don’t even sell niche scents. Only higher end stores do, and many towns/cities don’t have those. Trust me, Aventus is nowhere near as common as the internet would have you believe.
>>
Wore my sample of Slumberhouse Grev last night. My thought process was basically; Ok, this is really weird. But good. Really good. Oh wow!

You get this unapologetically heavy blast of clove (and probably the nicest, most natural clove note I’ve smelled), but then you get these green, foresty notes and fresh spearmint, with a little citrus lurking in the back. It’s sweet, spicy, green, woody, minty, just everything all at once, but in a way that’s perfectly balanced and not overpowering. I’ve never smelled anything else like it.

100% copping. Beautiful stuff, and one of Slumberhouse’s very underrated scents.
>>
>>13495118
Nice anon. I don't want to try another Slumberhouse because I know I'll fall in love and can't afford a bottle. Maybe I'll drop the money on a decant.

I'm sad they discontinued Jeke as I've been looking for a smokey cade fragrance, but there are others to try. Surely if that was discontinued it's not Josh's fav.

>>13494446
I've been recc'd some Declaration stuff in the past. I like ETF but it's not a love, maybe I should try something from the Declaration line for the warmer months.

>>13495028
Nothing at the moment, I don't have anything I 100% want a full bottle of. Go try as much as you can, buy some decants and see what you think (especially over time and different seasons)
>>
>>13495028
Gonna agree with the other anon, I don't think I could get by with 2. Maybe 4-5, but 2 is super limiting. If you were to put a gun up to my head though:
Chanel Platinum Egoiste
YSL M7
>>
>>13495142
They seem to discontinue and rerelease scents every few years. They currently only have 6 scents for sale on their site. Sadanne seems to have gotten the axe too, I’m hoping that one comes back because I kind of wanted to cop. Basically smells like champagne and strawberries. Very sexy. Pretty feminine smelling, and I am not even remotely girly, but I still want it. We’ll see, I guess.

But yeah, Grev is really good. I’m gonna go do- before that one disappears as well.
>>
>>13494054
Do you have a just opened bottle? Mine lasted for maybe 1 hour for maybe 1-2 weeks after I bought it and then suddenly turned into a beast performance wise. I saw some people say the same thing. Maybe the air that gets inside somehow interacts with the juice. Anyway if it's brand new give it some time.

That might be so where you are from. Not in Britain.

Here it is, the /frag/ field report nobody asked for: Anime Expo Los Angeles 2018

Among those choosing to wear fragrance, this year's male (male) attendees overwhelmingly favor Dior Sauvage. During days one and two, the occasional waft of ambrox-pepper became a predictable and welcome island of relief amidst the prevailing sea of onion scented early-convention body odor. No other male fragrances were noticed or identified among the throng.

As temperatures reach the 105 degree range and persist into the con's later days, we can anticipate the earthy aroma of unwashed cosplay fits, stale sweat, and poor anime fan hygiene. I'm thankful for Sauvage Chad and his fragrance normie brethren on days like these. Will update this report with additional notes should I manage to survive the remaining 48 hours of Anime.

*spins at you*

I have similar strong fragrances that remind me of nights out, a.k.a being able to smell myself the next morning while regretting things and being hungover.

Why not another Tauer? If you like it. I've read his scents follow a similar "DNA" and often feature rose. I haven't tried them myself, but I'd like to.

Yeah the stuff is intensely resinous, viscous, and strong. Luckily the decant seller I bought it from gave me a dabber top so I just dab a little at a time. So what is the consensus on Molecule 01? Is it a meme or is it actually effective for lengthening the sillage of a layered fragrance? Part of me is wondering if it's worth dropping the $80 for a bottle or just to buy the ISO E Super alone and make my own mix.

Thoughts?

>>
>>13498788

It's not a meme. It's a brilliant fragrance and in my experience does lengthen the sillage of what you layer it with. I've layered it with Aventus a couple of times and the result is fucking incredible. Also, making your own mix of ISO E Super would not result in a Molecule 01, as they use a different variation of ISO E to make it (can't remember what it's called).

I have too many fragrances to have a signature. I just enjoy wearing different scents too much. I guess that’s as close as I have to a signature.

I'd visit the museum of fragrance (if you want to get nerdy). I'd do Guerlain for sure. Serge Lutens too. Diptyque if you're into them. If you want to hit a bunch in one and don't have a fetish for a single house or two definitely visit one of the famous department stores (magasins) i.e. Lafayette and/or Bon Marche.

Nose for "mass market" niche like Diptyque, CDG, etc. (they had a pretty low price on Aventus).
Sens Unique and Jovoy for real niggas' niche, Liquides Imaginaires is decent as well.

Got a chance to try this finally. Been on the hunt for a mint and orange fix since ultra zest doesn't quite do what I want.

Doesn't get the orange and mint I want, but a really great fragrance regardless. The mint and ivy are the star of this, and as it dries down it gets woodier tones that blend with the mint and ivy. So, you are left with a cool ocean mist breeze. Super refreshing, unlike almost anything I've smelled before. It's so simple, yet so fucking awesome. Performance is bang up too, lasts all day with projection for most of it. Easy to overlook since amouge has so many other highly acclaimed fragrances, but this one is definitely bottle worthy.

I love the smell, but the fragrance is mostly gone after 1 hour(and that's sat around doing nothing), anyone else get this?

Most youtubers are lying about how many compliments they get on fragrances. It is biased as well because everyone around just know them as a 'cologne freak'.

Thanks, sadly I can’t see that on any sites for shops I can try it in the UK, and I don’t want to blind buy it, unless you think it’s a safe blind buy.

Also, what’s the consensus on Prada L’Homme? I want something clean and fresh. I already have Dior Homme if that makes a difference.

I’m new to all this. I get that it’s dependent on the fragrance, but how many times to do you spray? Also, can you spray it on clothes? I normally spray a couple of times on my neck and maybe once on my chest depending on what I’m wearing.

How does sweat impact things?

Me here again, being a complete scrub to fragrances i'll post the rest of what I've tested

>Tom Ford tobacco vanille

really disliked this one, can see how people can appreciate a scent like this, but seems way to polarizing for my goal of just "smelling nice"

>creed royal water

Nice smell, decent longetivity, seems more summery than neutral though

>creed irish tweed

Again no real complains, seems like a very neutral "nice smell"

>creed aventus

I can see why this gets so much love/hate, it's a very pleasant scent, I imagine among the "fragrance community" it's hated because it's popular, but in terms of all males(and even all males who wear aftershave) it's still quite rare

Any ideas on where to go next?

a year-round wearable, generally pleasing scent

don't know enough about fragrance to get in to "topnotes" and stuff

Sounds to me like you're probably better off with designer scents rather than niche stuff from what you've said. Look at the likes of Aqua Di Gio(or Profumo), Sauvage, Dior Homme Eau, D&G The One, stuff like that.

Blind bought a bottle of pic related from a guy and it arrived today just as I was going out. I can post some impressions later this evening, since this fragrance doesn't seem to be talked about a lot.

You picked some expensive fragrances for a first time. Maybe check out a bunch of designers, those are made to be "nice" and mass pleasing although I'd also place Creed in there.
For designer I like the dior homme line. Adg profumo is nice. Niche versatile my favourite is probably Reflection by Amouage. Lately I've tried a whole bunch of MFKs, I liked lumiere noire, the rest of the fresh fragrances I didn't like too much but they are also kind of mass pleasing maybe it's worth checking out. The heavier stuff isn't really for all year round.

l'homme de coeur by divine might be a good choice if you dont mind something that's more subtle. it's an elegant and discreet perfume that can be worn for any occasion, year-round.

it's impressive how balanced it is because it doesnt lose its uniqueness despite being generally pleasing and versatile. from 3 sprays the projection is arm-lenght and longevity around 10 hours on my skin.

Wearing lipstick is where I draw the line; smelling like lipstick isn't gay, just effete.
