that would require massive amounts of capital to accomplish

the US uses 3,913,000,000,000 kWh per year of electricity

imagine how much capital would need to go into making facilities to supply 90% of that

and also I think it's a pretty shit goal to say "well I guess electricity prices wont go up anymore" when realistically the goal should be for them to go down

The bigger your squads are, the tighter your pants will need to be. This is for two primary reasons, being: 1.) your old pants get tight and it's wasteful to buy new ones, and 2.) lose pants make your legs and hips look too wide in proportion to your shoulders.
>>
>>41847854
god he looks like a fucking fag with how tight that shit is
>>
>>41847854

I know that, mate. But serious lifters (what, maybe 2% of the population?) and normies alike wear skin-tight jeans/pants. And I still think loose pants look much more aesthetic and manly on a /fit/ guy.
>>
>>41847667
So I'm not a powerlifter but I don't want to start a new thread and I figure you're all good with lifting things up and putting them down again...

I have a home gym, my weights max out at 310lb, and now I'm at the point I can DL 5x8 at that weight. What should I do until I get new 45s? Keep lifting 5x8 and work on the other lifts? Practice double pause deads at lower weight? Increase my reps?
Is 5x8 deadlift even doing anything for my strength/physique?

>>41848812
>started regularly lifting again around 3-4 months ago after a year or so break
You may have been able to make gains since returning to training regularly even though you were cutting.

Consider bulking if you want to make further progress. If you meant 235 for 5 is your PR then try making progress with triples and eventually singles.
>>
>>41848912
I would say that your press is quite good in comparison, my best press was like 70kg and i benched 130, but i never trained ohp so thats probably the case.
>>
>>41848949
>benched 130
I probably will sooner reach 100kg ohp than 130kg bench.

>>41848838

>>
>>41848983
>I will probably never bench 2 plate to be quite honest

You'll hit it at some point. Bench progress can be a bitch. It took me almost a year to go from 185 to 225 at 165. To be honest I was fucking pissed it took so long. "I'll hit it in the next few months" forever.
>>
>>41848983
with that in mind, are there any good programs that help with OHP? I've just been doing 3x a week, 3x5, then 4x5, then 5x5, then add 5 lbs and start over at 3x5 the next week
>>
>>41848988
I did this like a month and a half ago. Plateaued OHP at 140 and just said fuck it. Currently hitting 175 for triples. I feel like I will be able to get to 185/195 pretty easily, I just need to work on my dip and drive. Currently whenever I dip my heels come up (even in squat shoes) and I feel this is suboptimal. I also have reps where the dip is good and the weight just flies up like it's nothing, and others where its bad the rep is shit.
>>
>>41849016
Just train it like you would train bench, high frequency and lots of volume.

Something like gnuckols 3 day beginner or something.
>>
>>41848373
behold the untermensch
>>
>>41849016
This is a rep scheme I used that helped me move through OHP plateaus.

Start with 5x5, increasing 5lb each session.

When you start failing reps on the last two sets, switch to 3x5 with two backoff sets of 5 at lighter weight.

When you start failing on 3x5, go to a ramp up/back off scheme: 50%x5, 60%x5, 75%x3, 85%x3, 95%x3, 85%x3, 80%x3, 75%x3, 70%x3, 65%x3.
If you hit all 3 reps at 95% increase whatever the value for 100% is by 5 lb.

When you stall with the third rep scheme for a few sessions, deload 20% and start from 5x5 again.
>>
>>41849050
>nuckols
I swear you people are actually retarded

>>
>>41849466

>>
It seems like when I deadlift my ass goes up as I press through my heels through the floor but the weight doesn't rise at the same time and I end up getting some rounding in my mid/upper back. Do I need to lower my ass even more? I feel like I would almost be squatting the weight if I lowered it anymore.

>>
>>41850173
You didn't even try to keep your back straight.
>>
>>41850215
Is that considered lower back rounding then? Was my last rep of 5 I wasn't sure if form check should be first rep or last rep as well.I also realize my head is not neutral.

Did my first meet on the weekend lads(IPF). 450 total at 83kg. Got excited and failed my third bench attempt(went too heavy) but I am happy I got my first one out of the way, definitely going to lose some fat and drop down to to 74 though.

Would adding dumbbell flyes to c6w help out with bench? I already added dumbbell bench in (3x8) and that was a great help for bench.

get butt lower and pop your chest out a bit before you pull. You might have to deload and work on form a bit.

That is terrible and it is terrible because you set up terribly. You have to bring your lumbar spine into extension BEFORE you start to pull the bar.

Watch this for a hopefully helpful visual aid. You should easily be able to see the difference between their spinal extension and your complete lack of it.

bench is hardest to put weight on and you can now bench more than your bw (your max is around 90kg) which gives you more than 1x bw lift

>>
>>41852378
I like the doubles and triples so far desu. Keeping the rests at 2 minutes or less makes it less boring, and helps a lot with conditioning, imo. The volume is ridiculous which I like, yet I finish every session around 90 minutes. It probably will get boring in a couple months but that's when it will probably stop working so I don't really have an issue with that.
>>
>>41852325
I guess it's also better for record keeping to not fuck with everything, but it just seems asinine to have a 135 go against a 175.

They don't throw you off much, if at all, in my limited experience.
>>
>>41853052
We (myself and a few others that train seriously) manage to get by via subtly using liquid chalk. But there's no better gym in this area. My current gym isn't part of a chain and it had stuff like a safety squat bar, more than 1 squat rack, trap bar deadlift, padded floor area etc. The only other gyms in my city are basic fit and other chain gyms like that. The kind where they ask you to put the weights down gently.

Probably going to get shit for this here but here goes.

Do you know anyone who has replaced benching with dips? Or read about it?

What are the differences I should be aware of if considering making dips my main upper push if I do not plan to compete? Pros and Cons?

Is there really much difference between the two?
>>

Any way you cut it dips will focus more on triceps than chest. I suppose you should incorporate weighted pushups as well, but neither of these things will be a true replacement for bench. Why do you not want to bench?

I did the 6 day version for a while. I thought it was pretty fun and I got some decent progress out of it.

I'm on a different program now because I want to do more olympic lifts, but I'll still use 2suns rep scheme for pushing weight on deadlift, bench and push press (instead of OHP). I do 5x5 -> 3x5 -> 2suns rep schemes until I plateau, then deload. I've gotten consistent progress of that.

I shit you not my regular stance will have me winded with less weight than I'm doing now. How can changing my stance have such an impact on the fatigue I accumulate?
The reps aren't easier, I just am not feeling tired at all which is really alarming.

Wider stance squats have a longer SRA curve compared to narrow stance according to CWS. I have no idea why though
>>
>>41855874
Being more narrow I felt that I didn't have to use my adductors and abductors as much, so maybe that had something to do with it; also my abs didn't feel as tense since I was more bent over.

How much does training environment matter?

Your studies are superficial at best. Currently grid operators nationwide are reevaluating there near-term investments and leases as growth has plateaued. The physiologic reason is because when you lift your head up to look at yourself during a sweet diddy you're keeping your spine out of its optimal aligned position. When you're looking down, your spine is aligned and therefore the back can operate more isometrically efficient.

My friend is so fucked. I said before his back is curved so he can't lift anything above his head because he can't straighten it out properly. Now I see also his legs are fucked.

He assumes a normal squat stance with his feet pointing a fair bit outwards, 45 degrees for the example. Then his knees cannot track above the toes, the knees will go straight forward 90 degrees. So if he tries to stand straight with his legs neutral, knees pointing forwards, he will have his toes abour 45 degrees outwards. he's so fucked.

What do if my cgbp is the same as my usual max width grip bench, go for something in the middle? Could this be due to long arms?

Giving my knee a rest today. Can someone recommend some accessory work to replace some core movements?

I was meant to be doing:

5x5 Squat 90%
5x5 Bench 90%
5x1 Deadlift 90%

For some context my I weigh 75kg and my 5RM are 155/132.5/75/52.5

In a MWF setup, what's the difference between something like nuckols 1x deadlift compared to a 1x5 set once a week with like 4x10 rdls on the other days?

Is one better than the other and how much does frequency matter when building a bigger deadlift but also a stronger and bigger posterior chain?
>>
>>41863631
Deadlifts frequency is a mystery
>>
>right side of lower back feels uncomfortable after deadlifting
>when doing squats left leg does more work and outside of left knee tends to hurt after doing heavier squats
>right leg feels tighter than left leg in general and when flexing
>when tiptoing right calf feels tighter than left leg and its uncomfortable/hurting below my toes on the right side

Is my hip the problem? I try to stretch everything in this area, but it doesnt seem to help that much other than better mobility. Any one knows whats wrong with me and what to do?
>>
>>41863631
Frequency is one of the most important variables for most people. Deadlifts are for most people more taxing than squats, so they do best with a lower deadlift frequency than squat.

I would much prefer Nuckols over 1x5 + RDLs. There's nothing stopping you from including RDLs while doing Nuckols 1x either, but do the RDLs from 2x Int instead of just 4x10.
I would prefer Nuckols because there is some waving of the load and intensity. It's not really necessary for novices, but it works and will keep working longer than 1x5+RDLs.

Do your deads on ID, guy. If you're beat up take a deload week and go ride a bike a few times.
>>
>>41863699
Probably, yes. If anything one glute is working harder than the other, do a more thorough warmup with higher reps, and probably in general train with higher reps for a little while.
>>
>>41863118
nno but i was asking a while ago and no1 knows
>>
>>41864184
Thanks, ill look into the glute thing. However even with squating one plate, I notice that my left leg works harder and more stress is put on the knee. Im playing another sport so I dont want to fuck my knee up/ make things worse.
