Plex slaves? See and learn
>>
Usable WebOS app when? I don't want to be stuck with Apple TV and Shields just to use Jellyfin in an acceptable way on an LG. The boxes are cool but I am satisfied w WebOS on the G3.

>>107389030
Plex has no users apart from people with lifetime one-time fee passes. It's like paying for private doctors in the UK, it's better if you're wealthy enough.

I almost refuse to believe anyone actually pays subscriptions. And if you are a free user like literally what are you even doing, it's for people with money only.

Dashboard -> Live TV -> add a .m3u list or your real TV tuner as a tuning device.

can jellyfin be run portable? (all the config/cache files in a single folder)
i have a drive i move around between machines which has a portable qbitorrent on it (appimage launched via shell script with a '--profile' option that points to a local folder). but when i looked for a DLNA server to do the same the only one i found is universal media server which feels kinda jank and shit.
>>
>>107390476
docker and mount the local directories
>>
>>107390764
haven't thought of that thanks i found some static version of podman ill try later with environment variables setting it to run portable
>>
>>107389070
Wtf are you talking about. That's been out for years kek skill issue
>>
>>107389070
Jellyfin for WebOS already exists
>>
>>107388958
I am so glad I paid a lifetime subscription to Emby so I don't have to deal with this shit...
>>
>>107389070
I use plex for free. Paid once for a year but it wasn't worth it. Jellyfin has never worked 100% for me.

what's changed in this version?

try reading the link, clown
>>
>>107391594
Srs? Emby is literally the worst one bro. It's just Jellyfin with 90% of the settings missing.
>>
>>107392080
Which parts of Jellyfin don't work? Functionally it shouldn't have any issues. All the issues with it are in how unpolished and slow and unprofessional the apps are.
>>
>>107393988
Sorry you're so upset, pedo
>>
>>107388958
Anyone here used Jellyhub? I looked through the code yesterday, other than pulling 1000 react projects that I ain’t gonna look through, the src looks okay.

Not sure where else to ask but I really want to start using JF over Plex but JF gets my server running loud and hot
Running via docker latest version (been like this for 2 years) and have transcoding settings on but can't seem to figure out how to make it just run smoothly.
>>
>>107389206
why?
>>
>>107393996
Couldn't get subtitles working in some of my files and some files wouldn't even show up in the library. Seeking was incredibly slow as well on large blu-rays. Plex has always been as plug and play as it gets for me. I still try out Jellyfin at least once a year to see if it's improved but so far it hasn't worked out for me.
>>
Can I finally cast it to my TV without jellyfin breaking after two seconds?
>>
>>107291686
Thanks. I, for one, am interested in Tizen development.
I installed Jellyfin on a 2018 Samsung TV a few months ago and re-ran the PowerShell script here, with Docker already installed, but I'm not really sure whether I'm getting the latest version https://github.com/Georift/install-jellyfin-tizen
Is this the best/easiest method?
The thing works well enough for my needs.
>>
>>107395820
Stop transcoding.
>>
>>107395820
Enable this option if transcoding load bugs you. It limits transcodes to a specified amount of time ahead of the player, instead of converting the whole video at once.
>>
>>107397885
forgot pic lol
>>
>>107397891
huh that worked no spikes in CPU usage/temps
thanks anon
>>
>>107397981
Or just don't transcode
>>
>>107396250
That's dev side. Jellyfin has freeware level seeking etc. that's just how it performs.
>>
>>107388958
>nuked my JAVs nfo metadata
NIGGERS
>>
>>107398643
Jellyfin currently does not respect users' NFO files. The documentation claims it does, but the documentation is wrong.
>>
>>107398770
>NFO files.
who even uses these???
>>
>>107395847
ever since I updated my transcoding sucks and it buffers all the time even when connected locally, and also the problem with shows with 5+ seasons taking forever to load
>>
>>107400384
>my transcoding sucks
STOP TRANSCODING YOU TRANNIES
>>

TubeArchivist, for one.
https://github.com/tubearchivist/tubearchivist-jf-plugin/issues/30
https://github.com/tubearchivist/tubearchivist-jf-plugin/issues/43
I also wrote a little script to generate my own NFO files to add proper metadata when importing custom media and had to learn the hard way that Jellyfin just ignores them.
>>
THE EMBEDDED EXTRACTOR IS STILL BROKEN. has been llke a fucking year.
god fucking dammit jellyfin.

t. plex free cuck
>>
Is there a way to make this shit just display the files in their respective folders maintaining structure just like it is on the server and not make a Netflix-wannabe out of my library? I remember getting pretty close to it once, but it still confused my full BDs with multiple movies allowing me to play only the first one with no way to reach the others or the extras, etc.
>>
>>107400603
just use smb, zfs, or webdav with kodi, etc.
>>
>>107400603
>>107401080
what about dlna?
>>
>>107401143
>what about dlna?
it's ok but kinda slow compared to webdav, zfs
>>
>>107401184
>>107401143
my 38"aoc smartTV. is as smart as a rock because it has no apps. I guess is old and they never update shit.

at least DLNA works. so I guess there's always use for different things

https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/shows#organization
https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/movies#organization
if your directories aren't laid out like that you're probably gonna have problems
>If you have several types of media in a single folder you can also label it as mixed, which will be a generic folder view
generic folder view sounds like the answer until
https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/mixed-movies-and-shows
>This library type is broken and deprecated.
jellyfin is great but somewhat inflexible
>>
>December 2025
>still using jellyfinmediaplayer 1.10.1 because every version after refuses to use mpv
>mpv plays videos directly just fine, web player transcodes every time
If I wanted to use a web player I would use my fucking browser.
>>
>>107400472
NFO is shit, you have to embed directly using FFmpeg -metadata key value pairs.
>>
>>107389070
either use the existing one or make a new one
are you retarded
>>
>>107400528
for real my literal only remaining issue with jellyfin is that it fucking kills itself if you're using imperfect subtitle formats and they have never fucking fixed it
>>
>>107401080
Are there any apps on WebOS that support these? I used to watch things via SMB and Kodi on a Philips Android TV years ago and that worked great, but have been out of luck since I've upgraded to an LG OLED. Stuck with DLNA that's slow as shit and lacks support for quirky codecs in the built-in player (that's fine if you feed it something normal, ASS subs suck though).

>>107401354
Well yeah not doing any of that. My collection is well organized as is, not gonna redo all of it in some retarded way because a piece of software can't take it. I remember trying the mixed mode and also photos I think, it worked to some degree but still got problems with full BD rips.
Honestly I'm pretty disappointed with how bloated everything has to be these days. Jellyfin and its peers are a good example. I don't want to make a Netflix out of my HDDs, just give me a simple file explorer and video player on my TV ffs. I've been considering plugging some mini PC into the TV that would handle this over SMB, but it's ridiculous when the TV already has a capable computer built in, on top of not having to fiddle with HDMI, changing video modes, etc.
>>
>>107401509
>you have to embed directly using FFmpeg -metadata key value pairs.
Then I can't seed.
This is why NFO is useful. The media files remain unmolested.
>>
>>107401835
Make one LOL. The WebOS app is shit. What you're actually saying is that it's the only one and there aren't things like Swiftfin, so basically get Apple TV or use the extremely bad software.

Why are the devs so lazy isn't this their job?
>>
I'm tired of pretending this probable trannyware isn't pure AIDS just because it's free. I'm convinced the developers would rather beat off than actually fix the thousands of bugs it has.

I have a monster rack server with 128GB ECC RAM, dedicated GPU, storage array, and this clown show horse shit still isn't stable.

Instead I just pay for inFuse and run it on an Apple TV 4K, somehow this little cube just werks and doesn't freeze while transcoding, don't have to fuck with filenames, don't have to reboot it.
>>
>>107401982
>Are there any apps on WebOS that support these?
lol no
just get a box
>>
If I have to spend more time setting up and maintaining this software than watching actual movies, then its mission has failed.
>>
>>107389070
Emby is your best bet if you have to use WebOS and don't want to figure out how to get Kodi on that piece of shit.
>>
>>107396250
>Couldn't get subtitles working in some of my files and some files wouldn't even show up in the library.
>I still try out Jellyfin at least once a year
That's a lie Jellyfin handles subtitles even better than Plex does. Now if only you hadn't included the other lie in your post I could actually believe you were talking about jellyfin from several years ago that DID have issues with very specific subtitles
>>
>>107390476
>can jellyfin be run portable? (all the config/cache files in a single folder)
Yes, even on windows. In fact it's the absolutely best way to run it.
>>
i just dont understand why you would use something like this anymore when alldebrid and kodi exists.
>>
>>107402500
>I have a monster rack server with 128GB ECC RAM, dedicated GPU, storage array, and this clown show horse shit still isn't stable.
Works fine at 4k60hz on my i5-4570 with 8GB of ram and and a GT1030 gpu
>>
>>107402793
I don't think you understand much of anything
>>
>>107402727
>no u lie
How does lying on a mongolian basket weaving forum benefit me you double nigger? I had these issues with your shitty software. That's it.
>>
>>107402727
Not him but I had constant issues with Jellyfin and ASS subtitles in anime. Even when they worked they would desync if I resumed a video. I only got it to work reliably by turning on some degraded mode that made them into plain text on black background
>>
>>107402727
>Thinking subtitle issues isn't real
>>>/r/eddit is that way you fucking neckbeard
>>
>>107403227
yeah, jellyfin had trouble with ass subtitles for a long time. i don't watch anime but i'm pretty sure serverside it's been fixed for at least a year at this point though. idk if individual clients have any problems with it but i am almost certain the official androidtv app fixed it this summer.
>>
>>107403305
>fixed it this summer
Then I'll have to try Jellyfin again, but I do remember my issues weren't with ASS subtitles specifically.
>>
>>107402727
Spoken like a typical cornholing developer who is so delusional he believes this loosely assembled heap of shit is bug-free.
