Thanks, that was a good read.

The guy made a few mistakes though:
- he says the 1120 and 2500 don't wind in both directions; they do
- he said the balance wheel was silicon; it isn't
- the barrel arbor isn't DLC coated, the barrel casing is

These are pretty glaring mistakes, and therefore it's safe to say he isn't quite up to speed, and might simply be repeating the "microscopic oiling" thing from the 2500.

In the context of this thread, I think Archer would have mentioned it the 8500 didn't require the precision oiling for shock absorption. I'll try and dig up something more definitive later when I have time.

Breitling. One of the most iconic chronograph designs and now actually has a decent movement (again). You can get the Sinn instead if you want to save some money and want a slightly more robust case but with an inferior movement.

Best prices and selection. I've heard that they work very closely with Vostok, which is why as far as I'm aware, they're the ones that carry the SE.

I've only ordered one watch and a caseback from them, but they dispatched quickly and it got to the UK in a reasonable amount of time with no import fees either.

Never had to use their customer service, but it's also supposed to be very good and professional.

Well so far the only issues are cosmetic, due to the age of the watch. I VERY lightly buffed the polished surfaces of the case, it's not enough to get rid of scratches, nor destroy the case lines, just to get some shine back for the case. Also cleaned every external part in an ultrasonic and replaced the gaskets.

I'll flip the two white Cosmotrons and keep the blue one (I originally wanted to keep the white on the right as it has a patterned dial, like a proto-Snowflake). Also I restored and serviced this penisquartz, not sure if I'll keep it though. Still needs a new crystal gasket though.

Remember Bulova never intended to sell no-dial 214s - they were only provided to stores as display models, but customers kept asking to buy them instead of the models actually intended to sell. Bulova ended up having to sell conversion kits to retailers to keep up with demand for the no-dial versions.

I've had one of those for four or five years now (I don't remember exactly) and used it backpacking across Europe and now it's my regular gym watch. No leaks after countless trips to the hot tub, sauna, steam room, and pool.

I'm not sure many people need a G-Shock. The under-$40 Casio lineup has some fantastic watches if you just want to know what time it is for about ten years.

Is the GMT Master - dare I suggest it - the best everyday Rolex?

>>63326245
Pretty much everybody's thought I guess. Like not ordering your first Ferrari in red. Sure it's an option but do you really do it?
>>
so I have this all mechanical grovana watch I haven't worn in a long while and I'm not sure about the winding hygiene I should follow with it and I can't find any info about online
any tips?
so far I'm winding it once a day with 12-13 turns and it lasts me a day or so
>>
>>63326278
Wind it untill you feel tension and then keep going
>>
>>63325473
Do you think it's worth getting a crystal lift and attempting a replacement myself?
>>
>>63326286
I'll take that advice with a grain of salt, at twelve turns it seems to give enough resistance to indicate that it's been wound enough
>>
>>63326278
Generally you can feel when it's getting close to fully wound.
>>
>>63326216
How is it that I can intensely dislike the sub and yet I really like the GMT Master? Nice pre-maxicase GMT, incidentally.
>>
>>63325757
The AE1200 also has the best bracelet of any cheapish Casio in my opinion.
>>
>>63326324
so I just go by the resistance and I should be ok?
I probably won't overwind it but does it matter how many times a day I wind it or should I keep it once daily? Some days I forget and it stops and I thought to wind it both in the morning and before bed. Is that ok or will I ruin the spring?
>>
>>63325378
Eventually they will. It's in that ghastly limited edition for now, but they claim they are going to roll it out in multiple production models eventually.
>>
>>63326313
That's called the daily friction hold. A flat spring exists in the winding mechanism that indicates you have wound a watch sufficiently for 24 hours of operation. You should continue forcibly past this point to attain the full power reserve of your watch which is likely over 30 hours.

it is pretty easy to swap out the aluminum bezels on the 16710 so if you don't like the pepsi anymore you can always go coke/batman/black. rolex will even do it for you, but they keep the bezel they take off. Most GMTs I see do not have their original bezels.

>>63326269
for someone who travels a lot, most definitely. I prefer the gmt 2 because you can change the hour without stopping the movement. otherwise i prefer the explorer i
>>
>>63326363
Most mechanicals I have won't even let you overwind them unless you really try to power through when it stops winding.
I generally wind my manuals up once in the morning and that's it.
>>

They don't. People rightly criticize the MOTFM for being overpriced for its mediocre bracelet and technically archaic movement, but I don't see many people saying the MOTFM is a bad watch per se.

Now the cuck-axial special editions are pleb-catching nonsense, but no one reasonable talks shit about vintage Cal. 1045 Speedmasters, nor of course the now extremely collectible Caliber 321 models.

all dogshit besides the casio and MAYBE the pocket watch if it was handed down to you.

Of course a Swatch male would fail to recognize how ghastly a classical dress watch design ballooned out to sport watch proportions would look. The Globemaster is a horrifying frankendesign mashing Aqua Terra colors and aeshetics with the grizzly flayed skin of Omega's once great design Conbstellation line stretched over it and hastily sewn on.

hows this casio compare to the current casio hotness?
>>
>>63328535
Not really, the gold one is some Chinese crap and the pocketwatch is a common lower cost brand.
>>
>>63328535
the gold one is worth $10 at most

the pocket watch is a westclox scotty style 3, worth at most $25 for excellent condition and yours does not appear to be anywhere near excellent

in better condition the dw240 might be worth something but it appears beat to absolute shit so it's hard to say if someone would even buy it - maybe for spare parts?

I decided to give the F-91W a chance, and, meme or not, it's become my favorite watch.

I'm going to be flying within the US during the holidays, and I was wondering if anyone's had issues wearing them through airports.

It's not radio controlled. If you want that get a gw-m5610. You should pick up the signal from Mainflingen in Germany.
