Fuck them
Chase your dreams, anon.
These days you can even make money without going to big poker tournaments just by streaming it regularly on Twitch.

Depends on how you think gambling is viewed at the potential workplace.
You can either say you have been unemployed / between jobs for 6 months.
Another option is to tell them about it.
If you spin it as an interesting backstory, you could tell them about your attempt at becoming a semi pro poker player but you want something more stable.
Sortof how he spins it in the end of 21.

thanks anon.. i think saying unemployed is even worst.. i was thinking to say i went on a 6 months travel in asia or some shit of that kind...

>>
>>63318733
Just do what you like, play poker in your case, especially if you're successfull.
>>
>>63319051
well i didnt want to be specific but i dont need to lie because i am not boasting on money but on what to say to a potential employer
>>
>>63319014
Poker is not a gambling. As long as it's considered legal in his country (and I guess it is) then it's just a sport/game you play for fun or, like in his case, professionally. If you make a living out of poker then it's no longer just a game but your profession.

>>63318733
If I were you OP I would just say that I was making money off poker and that's fucking it. My experience with interviews is that as long as you don't sperg out, the you are fine. It's more important how you put things into words than what you were actually did. Some people go traveling for months to years and then come back to workforce like it's nothing. Truth is, how is that any different than being a fucking NEET? But no one looks at it like that, in fact people usually think like giving up years of your career and spending tens of thousands on travels is some kind of amazing shit. It's bizarre to me but whatever.
Or like others suggested, if you make good money on poker and think you can really make it then fuck it and go make it big. I hope you do know what you are doing though, and realize that most of people who go into high stakes burn and crash.

thank you so much anon

>i have a lot of experience and certs but what the fuck do i say i did in the last 6 months?? should i tell the truth?

Just tell the truth, but spin it in a positive way "I have a strong background in statistics and probability so I applied it to online poker and I managed to get a comfortable income with it. But now when we are talking about marriage I want something with less risk and as you can see from my certs I also have a strong background in Networking or whatever shit you do"

Don't forget to invite them to a game of poker and drinks. :)
>>
>>63319491
i should let them win tho
>>
>>63319525
Now and again. If everyone leaves with about as much as they came to the table with, then it's just a fun game with drinks.

Gals are hard wired not to take on risks like this instead they prefer rock solid stability, a steady paycheck. They all have the mindset that whats her's is her's and what's yours is her's too. They also really are concerned about status. You know how people are, when they are talking with her the first thing they try to do is size you up by asking her what you do and she would rather not have to tell people when they ask about her husband that he's a a poker player because even if you are successful, almost everyone else that has tried failed has miserably and so all these people build up these preconceived ideas about how people who do this are losers, and gambling is morally wrong, and you'll end up in debt, and don't trust to loan money too, basically almost drug addict tier.
You should think about from different angles. If you submit to your gal like this then what are the implications? Will it set the precedence that she wears the pants, so to speak? Versus if you be be a man and confident in yourself and tell her you're doing this. No matter what you do she'll always consider whatever happens your fault. So if she somehow gets it into her head that you're some kind of boring IT nerd doormat that doesn't stand up for yourself then she'll say that's your fault. And another way of thinking about this is she selfishly wants something kinda like a bucks without regard to your own goals.
Some say dump her. Well if you're able to dump her, maybe you could approach with a independent type attitude kinda like that but instead of just dumping her, be a man, stand up for yourself, and tell her what you're going to do. And if after that it turns out she wants to stay with you great or if she wants to leave that's okay too.
Another think about: Are you sure you have an edge? Do you know its possible to have a hot hand for a very long time?

I agree with this dude. If she's not down for the ride, then she's not the person you want in your passenger seat.

How do I learn poker
>>
>>63319646

Another thing to consider: so lets say she wants out. Okay fine. You focus yourself and become successful and you get on TV and so on. So this type of stuff(success, being on TV, etc) is attractive enough it would mean that you'd have a easier time. Think about it even low tier actors benefit from some increased attractiveness.
Also another way of thinking about it is its a similar thing to taking a loss. You're going to loss. Not sure about poker but for trading if you trade you're going to take a stoploss. Professional traders at funds and banks take stoplosses, that's part of trading. And you have your money management right then you can quickly overcome that loss, and you have to move on to the next trade. Reason I bring this up is I've been thinking to myself for awhile that trading and girls have a lot in common. So you see a qt and approach but she shoots you down. That's all part of the game just like in trading you're guaranteed to taking a stoploss and in game you're guaranteed to have a rejection and you have to move on to the next qt. In trading you have to get yourself psychologically able to be able to take a stoploss without freaking out, same with girls, most guys who don't get use to this are not able to do it without spilling spaghetti all over.

>she wants to get married

but do you want to get married?

>family is pretty mad

if you can support yourself I can't see why they are justified in being mad.

Is it a reliable income or did you just make big bucks once and then nothing?

I have no reason to disbelieve that he has a gf. It's not particularly difficult or uncommon a thing. Your adamant disbelief that he could possibly have a gf is a projection of your own self-image and feelings of inadequacy.
Spoiler: That attitude is going to be a large contributing factor to your inability to get a gf.
