Elementary OS
>Comfy like a Mac
>Easy to use
>Gorgeous to look at
>Software made from scratch
>Best tier interface

If you are a Mac user switching to Linux then this is the distro I suggest.

I have been using elementary for 1 year and it is pretty comfy indeed.

Just use Ubuntu and change the DE if you don't like it.

What's don't you like about Ubuntu? Might help to share that.

It's a bit buggy. Love everything else about it.

Really? Could you be more specific about the problems? Most can be fixed. Ubuntu has never given me any major problems. If you are a Steam user the Solus project might be worth a look, but I recommend staying put with Ubuntu and fixing the problems you're having.

Mate looks good. No dock though.

Best dock?

yeah, looks like I'm too much of a brainlet to get rid off glithes with proprietary NVIDIA drivers. Works out of the box in any other distro I've tried. Also had some problems with pulseaudio where I couldn't get mixer to work.

A great reason to switch to otherwise inferior AMD hardware.

I'm not the CEO of nVidia, but I can't help but think that forgetting about their more tech savvy customers is a really bad idea. In more ways than just selling them hardware.
>>
>>63730555
its all so convoluted but i'm sure it would work better if they just released open source drivers. even with the latest reengineered shits and proprietary drivers nothing works except mesa which is trash on my fragile shitbox

Probably legal issues around warranty or some bullshit.

>>63729334
there's no good alternative, just different Ubuntu DEs if you hate the default one (you should)

Never attribute to legal issues that which is adequately explained by botnet.

Ubuntu Mate 17.10 w/ Brightness Controller

Ubuntu is funky when using two different monitors on a laptop. Brightness controller adds color temp/gamma function which is indispensible for reading web txts. I like the fact ubuntu just works without too much hassle.
