Why are there no 18:9 Ratio phones with QC, usb-c, and microSD? Fucking chinkphones don't pick up American bands and the only one I've found that does has a SD630 in it, and that's not much of an upgrade

Help me out, bros. I have a Xperia XA Ultra that I bought September last year, but I'm currently needing more RAM and I wish to buy a new phone.

Problem is I'm not quite sure which one to buy.
There are a lot of phones out there that seem pretty good but the RAM is always lacking for some reason. They offer lot of things that are appealing but sure enough RAM is not one of them

So my question is the next one:
Which phone could I buy that has a solid RAM? Any brand would do.
I'm confused on the matter and I would really appreciate any advice you could give me.

Thanks for reading, and happy new year.

>>
>>64085364
The problem is the people who care about mSD, USB-C, and 18:9 are generally the people who want a flagship since those are all generally found on flagship devices.

The manufacturers have little incentive to bring those features to cheaper phones when the money can be better spent on better quality internals, or saving money for a cheaper sale price.
>>
>>64085384
Sharp Aquos S2 says otherwise
>>
>>64085384
Then I guess I better buy a Honor 7X and prove that people want those features but not necessarily want a flagship
>>
>>64085393
Then buy it and shut the fuck up.

A single phone from a company that has less than a single percentage of market share isn't exactly going to encourage more of that design.
>>
>>64085407
Then you buy one
>>
>>64085403
Vote with your wallet, but the trend remains and you'll generally be left behind when it comes to software and security updates. And finding replacement parts for non-flagship devices can prove problematic later on in the device life if you end up needing to get it repaired.

Why do people buy phones that don't have removable batteries?
>>
>>64085563
Agreed
>>
>>64085564
I haven't really needed a removable battery since I was in highschool. Haven't had one in any of my previous 4 phones.

iPhone 4s, LG G2, Note5, Note8
>>
>>64085571
Plus removable backs feel cheap as fuck
>>
>>64085579
Yeah I had one on my OG Droid X. Was nice being able to swap out battery mid-day since it would be dying by around 1-2pm. But afterawhile the back stopped staying on that well, and it would pop off sometimes by itself in my pocket. Got annoying as hell.

Now that my phone lasts all day without issue, it's simply not been a concern of mine in years.
>>
>>64085563
Until you need a new battery.
>>
>>64085593
Oh no, then I switch back to my Note5 for a week and send it in to samsung who will replace it for free if it is within the first year, and $35 otherwise.
>>
>>64085592
This, and even if the phone sees heavy use during the day it's super easy to carry a portable charger with you or just get a battery case.

Seriously why

You can buy a xiaomi mi mix 2 ($450), a HP omen 32in freesync 2k monitor ($250), a year of public mobile cell service (12x$38=456 for unlimited calling/sms and 4gb data) and still come out with money left.

$450 + $250 + $456 = $1156

In 2 years that thing will have a quarter of it's value and you probably won't want to use it anymore, don't be retarded

I need to get a new phone, my G4 is starting to brake down. Ghost touches and USB port going bad. I got it as a referb for $130 a year ago so I'm happy with it at this point. Should I get a G5 or are there better options?

No chink shit please. Budget 200~

Or does anyone have a guide on how to replace the USB port on this G4? My soldering skills are pretty basic and I'm sure it requires precision so I wasn't gonna bother. I looked at a tear down video and it doesen't look easily replaceable.

I've had mine since launch and I only use auto brightness. No burn in what so ever.

The only time i've ever noticed burn in on one of my own devices was after a 4 day road trip where i was using my phone as the GPS the entire time so it was plugged in with 75-100% brightness with static GUI elements from the GPS app for 14+ hours a day for 4 days straight.

And even then it wasn't that bad burn in.

Android 7.0 or newer, 5.5 inches or bigger, 3 (but ideally 4) GB RAM or higher, any processor better than the one for my current phone (Moto G4+), 32 (but ideally 64) GB ROM or more, expandable memory, 1080p resolution minimum, and more than 3000 mAh battery (ideally at least 4000), and must support 4G LTE bands in the USA. I like USB-C but it's not a requirement. The only thing I don't like about the Power 3 is the lack of 3.5mm jack and the finger print scanner being on the back, but I can see past those things. Some YouTube reviews suggest that the screen brightness is sub-par and there's a slight lag despite supposed high processing power, but I wanted to get an opinion from someone on /g/ who might have one.

Alternatively, I may just get a ZenFone just because info on Ulefone seems to be scarce.

samsung is currently doing 2 years of android feature updates and 3 years of security updates

Google with the Nexus/Pixel phones tend to do 3-4 years of updates.

LG is terrible with updates, if you get an update at all

HTC is okay, worse than samsung or google. But better than LG.

Chink phones generally wont get a lot of support from the manufacturer after the first year or two, but because they tend to be easy enough to install custom ROMs on you can expect longer term community based support for these phones.

Apple is the only one who consistently does 4 years of updates.

The chart is from ~august 2017. It doesn't include devices created after 2015 because it's meant to show long term flagship updates so using phones less than 2 years old is pointless (they just bring the average down for the company)

Also, the HTC M7 released in early 2013, it is still only officially on android 5.0.
The Samsung galaxy S6 ALSO released in early 2013. It's currently on Android 7.0.1. And is expected to get Android 8.0

A handful. I dont think the phone is defective because when I flash full stock it runs like a dream, but a few days after installing magisk shit starts to slow down randomly. On top of the mini freezes, the "okay google" lags a bit. It will beep, pause, then beep again then begin to catch what I'm saying. When its full stock it will beep once and always get everything.

Ive had magisk on my Nexus6p in the past and it ran perfectly, which makes me think its not magisk, but then again that was android 6.0.1 and magisk was installed through xposed.

Another reason I think its magisk is because sometimes when I upgrade magisk (and not do a fresh install) I get a notification after boot saying 'there is a problem with your system' or something along those lines.
>>
>>64092545

Wew, I never knew I let 100's of random people fuck with my phone before I bought it.

Oh wait, real phones from stock are NOTHING like store phones....

>>64092805
doesnt happen in the US
>>
>>64092813
All Samsung phones are put into demo mode so it plays that blue demo video. Changes can't be made.

You're aware you can unbox a fresh phone if you're interested in it, right?
>>
>>64092844
Not in the US.

15% restocking fee
>>
>>64092943
If you're in US you're missing the best versions of Samsung, so your opinion doesn't count anyway.

Exynos is the "best" version?
kek, europoors find any excuse as to why THEIR stuff is "better"

We had the Exynos with the S6 and Note5. There is no real difference between snapdragon and exynos.
>>
>>64093022
Do I have to look up archive posts of samshills complaining about "snapfires"? How fucking new are you? Exynos is LITERALLY faster and you can unlock the bootloader. Stay salty AND cucked.
>>
Anyone have working hacks for snapchat on Android 8.1? I used to use snapprefs and snaptools, but those required xposed.
>>
>>64093048
>LITERALLY faster
Literally not, especially not the Note8 which the Snapdragon version got a GPU clockspeed increase, even though the SD GPU was already better than the one in the Exynos.

The Exynos is SLIGHTLY faster in a few cases, and the SD is SLIGHTLY faster in a few as well.
>>
>>64093077
Better CPU, worse GPU, it evens out. The locked bootloader is unforgivable though.

How so?

How else do you enforce policy based security that is used by enterprise customers and the US government?

>locked bootloader is a security policy
>>
>>64093237
It LITERALLY is... if you have an unlocked bootloader you can load unsigned kernals or other shit that can bypass the security of the device.

Are you actually a retard?
>>
>>64093273
How about this: if I want security I will just not fuck with the bootloader and keep it stock. But I always have the -choice- to modify it in -any way I like-.

I emphasized the keywords there so its crystal clear.

It would need some hard safe guards like requiring you request it to be unlocked from samsung and showing proper proof of purchase or similarly registered to your name.

Otherwise you could exploit it to break into someone's device you stole in order to steal nudes, or sensitive financial docs, etc.
>>
>>64093386
Samsung should require a registration system where you show them 2 forms of government issued ID + DNA sample + fingerprint which can be used to unlock the device. Only then would you be truly secure

Pixel 2 XL person with the freezing issue here. I uninstalled Greenify and everything related & reflashed my stock ROM (without wiping user data) then installed Magisk 15.1 then upgraded to 15.2 and the freezing thing is back. I'm not sure exactly what causes it, but it happens in several different apps and I can't seem to find a pattern to it other than it happens when it has to read/write to storage.

Any other suggestions? I'm going to try flashing stock then not installing magisk and see if the freezing goes away. If it does then it means that magisk was causing it.

I didn't want to spend too much money so I bought a Moto z2 play. Did I fuck up?

Depends on what you want out of a phone. If you're okay not having a top tier phone but saving a few hundred bucks, then enjoy your new phone.

If you want to customize it, root it or get peak performance then... bad news bro
