But this makes no difference. You think theres some sort of bloat creep?
>>
>>64110143
If there's nothing else installed (i.e. fresh install) then nothing else but gnome is eating up memory.
Thus its bloated as fuck.

Yeah, okay...

You're the reason every gamedev started using unity and thought it was okay to just max out a single core and use 9GB of RAM on a shitty looking RTS, because "lol who cares"

My cousing upgraded his shitty hp 655 laptop (that originaly came with ubuntu) to 17.10(gnome transition).
The laptop was never good or fast at least it could run unity fairly decently. But when it upgraded to gnome the laptop started lagging like crazy. Even the mouse was slow to respond to input.
>>
>>64110491
Until I need to go do something that actually needs RAM and suddenly I don't have enough because my horrible WM and browser ate it all because "we have so much left over xDDDD"

Yeah, okay buddy... all I need is CPU and that's been hovering at less than 5% for each core/thread

what were you trying to prove? A full (non-minimal) Plasma desktop uses less than 600MB on my laptop. Bear in mind KDE is considered one of the heaviest DEs there is.

Won't consider GNOME until they figure out how to not break half of all themes/extensions with every single update.
