Will this run old games? This is all I want to know.
>>
Yep
>>
I think it's the GPUs that are waiting on a patch, but I might be wrong.
>>
>>64123039
As long as you have a graphics card to go with; yes.
>>

maybe

dos doesnt work natively ;-;
>>

Yes but if you plan to use AMD gpus instead of nvidia no.
That change they did with the instruction set that was removed probably won't come back because they have been dropping "deprecated" code for a while now.
Just get Ryzen + nvidia and call it a day.
>>
>>64123104
only get nvidia if the card has it's own scheduler
If the GPU uses the CPU scheduler, you're going to take a big hit.
>>
The entire selling point of Ryzen is that it offered a ton more cores and threads than the comparable Kaby Lake CPUs without much of a hit to single thread performance.

They tried to popularize the multithread meme with Bulldozer back in the day, but the single thread performance was dismal and multithreading not yet much of a thing for consumers.

The only thing I wouldn't get Ryzen for is Arma 3
>>
>>64123039
>Will this run old games?
It will run them as well as they ever did, so yea/no.
>>
is it worth upgrading now?
>>
When will Lisa release Ryzen+ and put the kikes out of their misery?
>>
>>64123039
Yes, even the gpus will unless you play c&c 3 or 4
>>
>>64124032
second gen ryzen is coming soon so no not really
>>
>>64123039
How old are the games you're talking about? A raspberry pi 3 or an odroid xu4 should do you pretty well for much cheaper
>>
>>64123039
get the ryzen 5 1600 desu overclock it to around 4ghz should be achievable on near stock voltages can even be done with stock cooler no problem works great.
>>
>>64123104
>>64124299
Someone from AMD driver team already confirmed that it's getting fixed. That retard from the AMD forums should seriously be fired.
>>
>>64123039
>Will this run old games?
No no no. You need at least a core i7 8700k CPU with good single core performance, hyper threading and 12MB L3 cache to get the best gaming experience!
>>
>>64125955
you think you're joking but if you're using dosbox this is unironically the case
>>
>>64125971
is this generally true for all emulators? if so, is Ryzen not a good choice for emulation?
>>
>>64126059
no ryzen is fine for emulation
>>
>>64124655
>4ghz on stock
nope, mine doesnt do 4ghz even at 1.4v
might have to disable smt though
it does do 3.6 at a comfy 1.175v
>>
>>64126059
>>64125971
>>64125955
You goofs, the worst processors today are better than the best available processors when RA2 was released.
Old games will run fine on the hardware if the software let's it.
>>
>>64127979
hai i think they vary desu mines a 3.85 on 1.2 v with the stock cooler

Works on my machineā„¢

Ryzen 5 1600, runs PCSX2 perfectly and any other game thrown at it, had a 7950 and now a 1060, no probs.

You'll have more trouble with the OS if you plan on running actual old shit.
>>
is these a way to make win7 run on a ryzen?
>>
>>64126059
It's a seriously powerful processor. To get the most out of it you need to throw in some really expensive GPUs.
>>
>>64129124
Yes, install it.
>>
>>64128513
soc voltage?
i'm on a prime b350 plus and changing the clock speed autosets the voltage to a random number regardless of the offset
it makes fine tuning absolutely retarded
could i get better overclocks on an x370 board?

u gotta grow up u fat nerd, and embrace teh future of AMD

Depends on the emulator. Most favor single-threaded performance, but some, like the Parallel N64 emulator, are multi-threaded and can take advantage of as many cores you throw at it for software rendering.

You will only run into problems with cemu/RCPS 3
The rest will just be blazed thru like nothing.

No lol dx9 is broken
>>
>>64132873
You're clueless. Ryzen is fantastic for RPCS3, since it uses as many cores as it can get its hands on. Cemu also received a large performance bump on Ryzen by going multi-threaded recently. My 1600 now runs Breath of the Wild at a locked 60fps.
>>
>>64133161
That's on AMD GPUs not CPUs, you dumb faggot.
>>
>>64133195
Ur the fagit
>>
>>64123039
limitations aren't usually from the CPU but from how the OS tries to run said old games
that out of the way, Ryzen can handle multiple VMs from old OSes running at once
>>
>>64123039
No, AMD is terrible at games
>>
>>64126059
Faildozer didn't have certain instruction set support and was a dumpster fire of an architecture so many emulators ran like dogshit.

Anything but PS2 or later era shit will run just fine on a Ryzen compared to an Intel.

PS2/PS3/Wii/WiiU/etc will probably see differences depending on how multi-threaded the emulator is. If it likes moar coarz Ryzen will work fine, if it's single-threaded performance Intel chips will be faster.

Most of these differences will go away as the software gets more mature because Ryzen is actually not a complete piece of shit the FX series

>>64133182
Nice then.

Man quality bait my dude!

the top Sega Dreamcast emulator has its development targeting smartphones. I've even seen Melee run at full speed on a overclocked flagship Crapdroid, and that was a few years ago. You could enjoy anything up to 2001 on a toaster and I'm likely being pessimistic here. For an additional frame of reference, my laptop,s i7 5500U can emulate GameCube games at full speed.

I'm running the same processor you pictured and it's running modern games just fine. the stock cooler alone makes it a good valueany actual course and threads, while not helpful running games, is great if you intend to record or live stream gameplay.

>>64123215
Arma 3 was unplayable my old CPU and I haven't tried it much on my new Ryzen chip. Only messed around for a few minutes, but it seems to be running okay. to be honest I was so busy with holiday commotion and configuring my Arch Linux i3 rice since building his new machine I haven't benchmarked the processor much.
>>
>>64133294
This is Intel's next tactic to reclaim market share.
>>
>>64123039
It will run it 30% better than a comperable intel chip.
>>
>>64133313
>Anything but PS2 or later era shit will run just fine on a Ryzen compared to an Intel.
My 1090t handles PS2 emulation wonderfully. I'm sure Ryzen handles PS2 emulation even better.
