Op here.

I am asking because today MessagEase got a crappy update and stopped working. I am completely lost without it.

swiping for sure, it's super fast. i used swype years ago, i don't know if it's still around. now i use swiftkey (i have disabled internet access for it to escape the microsoft botnet). best keyboard i've ever used.
>>
>>64278441
I miss my Nokia C3 :(
It was the chink meme of back then, one of the cheapest QWERTY but it lasted me like 3 years.

just a keyboard app, AnySoftKeyboard
>>

Does it have support for swiping?
>>
>>64278608
doesnt seem to
it's just a better keyboard than stock, but without swipe i guess

>>
I've been using Fleksy for the past couple of years
>The good
Customizable
Tabs for editors/ numbers/ etc
Comfy layout
>The bad
Very limited dictionaries for both English & foreign languages
Autocorrects single letters (j always gets corrected to k)

Should I switch to something else?
>>
>>64279244

> botnet

>>
>>64278481
Same, I'm fucking crippled without it.
>>
>>64278487
How would you type something like "ASS"?
>>
>>64279257
you do a circle on the letter you need to input twice, it works quite well and is pretty fast.
swiping is the way to go if you don't have a physical keyboard, imo
>>
>>64278426
Swiping, even though it sucks ass on Gboard.
>>
Regular keyboard with good error correction. So far Minuum has the best error correction of all keyboards.
>>
SwiftKey here. The themes suck but I haven't seen any keyboard with as good alternate keys (hold down the key to type a different symbol). The swiping is alright but with all the words I've added it autocorrects wrong a lot
>>
>>64279257
You can do the squiggle shit on the letter you want two of, but it's often faster to just ignore it and select the version you want from the suggestion list (or type it in manually) instead of relying on the algorithm to pick it up. For instance, you swipe in "a - s", it completes it to "as", but the three options above are "ass", "add", "and" which you select "ass" from.

If I tried to circle over the letter instead, it autocompletes it to "Ada's" and offers shit like "assassin" in the suggestions (literally how).
>>
>>64278487
Have you been hitting the bug where it auto corrects I'm to I on every second occasion?

Their guidance on correcting it is to disable autocorrect, which defies the fucking point.

It also kept suggesting Abdul (or something, can't remember) instead of about. Legit drove me up the fucking wall. I've rolled back to a year old version before they introduced their new prediction algorithm, and it works just fine.

>>64279502
Use the custom theme option if you want better themes. You can select an image and all your colours etc.
>>
Generally prefer qwerty landscape keyboard. Even on a touch screen it's fine.

One handed swype is great through. Bit of a learning curve but fast as hell once you get it down.
>>
T9 masterace
>>
>>64279676
i haven't encountered any autocorrect bugs, though i mostly write in german on my phone.
>>
G Board, mix of swiping and manually typing.

Id love to have physical keyboard though.
>>
>>64279755
True.

It makes me sound like a complete fucking mongoloid.

"I'm going to the movies" becomes "I going to the movies". For a work phone, really not good.

Bloody Microsoft.

>>

I install the xperia keyboard on every device I use
>>
>>64280437
I do, but it auto corrects when I move on to the next word, not when I type it.

So I proof read as I go and then get fucked. Having to re-read the whole thing each time rather gimps one's typing speed.

I wish I did not have to type so many "special characters" on my everyday life. It limits a lot my options of alternative keyboards. It sucks to use DotDash, 5-Tiles, TipType, etc. in this condition.

I really wanted to like MessagEase, I think it's a neat concept, but sadly, I just couldn't get the hang of it.
>>
>>64284269
Pretty similar
Pretty much all buttons work in the same way
2 things I miss are holding the space to move the cursor (which I "solved" by adding some arrows in the navbar that moved the cursor, you can see them in pic related, the < and >) and holding m to insert ?

Nintype if only it was more stable on iOS. For now stock iOS but I'd love to use Nintype. The crashing and non popup is just so frustrating.

2 finger slide typing really is the best
>>
>>64285548
Garbage compared to the Classic and Passport keyboards.
>>
>>64285126
>That's weird i can hold space to move the cursor on gboard.
If I hold it I get a pop up window to change the keyboard language
>>
>>64285176
Yeah but did you manage to get it to work on a non LG phone or non stock based ROM?
Haven't been able to set it up without the LG framework which so far I've been unsuccessful to install on aosp ROMs

I still prefer how it worked on the LG keyboard but it's better than the input arrows
Thanks anon

Fleksy for literally everything else.

One tap to select large targets for the most common letters, tap anywhere in a square and drag to select the other letters.

It's pretty customizable, so you can have as many symbols as you want, even including arrow keys, tab, ctrl, alt, etc, all without needing to jump through hoops like extra layers or menus.

It's the only way I can SSH comfortably without a physical keyboard.
>>
Is there a non-botnet keyboard app with decent prediction or is that impossible?
