Forgive me Stallman, for I have sinned. I installed Coreboot on my laptop and stripped in IME/TXE firmware with me_cleaner but I'm still running some very small amounts of non-free software on it.

When I was a kid, we were poor but we had a lot of prebuilt computers we got from people for free because they were throwing them out. Most of them were awful, but it was fun to play around with them. I'd have one somewhat decent computer as my main one and then a few others under my desk hooked up to other monitors and running GNU/Linux.

Heavily themed GNU/Linux environments trying to behave like proprietary operating systems are always pathetic amateur hour shit that fall apart as soon as you open an application that you haven't spent hours beating into aesthetic submission, just look at all of the hilariously awful Win9x/NT abortions people post here as an example.

Use the real thing or learn to appreciate something else for what it is.

Why do you rake it? You can look at the pins and see which ones are for power or check the data sheet. Or you can connect some wire to each pin then put a cheap switch on it or touch the ends together.

Not that I'm aware of.

It's not something I'd recommend but if you have a somewhat sophisticated knowledge of password cracking and know what really is a secure enough password then it's not really a big deal.

Everything. The PC is a Dimension 4700. It runs win 7 64x. It's actually pretty quick. I cant remember the CPU model but its one of the faster P4 x64 variants. Chipset is 915g. Its got 4gb of ram but only can access 3gb in the OS because the mobo is not designed to recognize it all. The OS runs off an SSD attached to the pci-e slot. Large storage hard drives are on the motherboard sata slots. Another pci sata adapter has an ssd for programs and music samples and there is a DVD drive attached too. Gigabit internet on PCI as well. Has an Nvidia pcie graphics card so I run audio out through HDMI. I don't do much heavy stuff like HD video rendering very often nor do I game modern gaymer trash so overall it works well. Some of the more intensive programs I run are picture, video and music so gimp, photoshop, gopro, vegas, ableton. With all the hard drives there is lots of ways to configure load and swap space. All the HDs are short stroked for speed as well. I am thinking to upgrade the mobo and power supply soon. Been doing some research on the old single core stuff. The old higher quality single core mobos are getting spendy these days so there must be a quite a few of us fooling around with the old hardware still.

git is tracking software for changes made to files. github is a website where you can upload your git history to back it up. If you needed to you can redownload your project's entire histroy from github. People can also browse your project's history.

I transfer files from one computer to another by emailing myself the files through gmail.
I emailed myself a vast amount of porn and then when it came time to download it on the second computer, I forgot the username and password to the google account.
I have a completely ignorant, computer illiterate fear about having an orphaned email full of porn. I don't actually know if there is a risk and what the nature of it would be.
