audeze but I've never been a fan personally and don't see why you wouldn't just get electrostatics at that price
>>
>>65959532
reading graphs and listening to demo(which is fine if you keep in mind it's just approximate signature not the actual sound they make) I hate how LCD sound specially for the price they ask, nothing like 600s
I just want faster, punchier 600s, why is it so hard to figure out? I'll give up and buy DT1990 by the end of the year.

Back to my old question: If you wanna use a solid state amp and a tube amp in line you gotta go to the tube amp, then back out through the pre-out and then into the solid state amp? Or can you also go through the solid state amp, back out through the pre-out and then into the tube amp? How are the electrical workings here? I've heard that coupling up a tube amp incorrectly can fry it.

And what does TOS on a tube amp mean anyway? I mean what are the practical implications of it?

I mean I'm really interested in audio gd, it's just that I don't trust many reviewers anymore and I have no way to demo one. not only that, but for the higher end audio gd equipment there's basically no information at all on the english internet I can find. from my perspective it would be a huge gamble to drop a grand or more on them, which I've considered doing but I don't know if it's worth the risk over brands I already know.

>>
>>65960813
you do not want to run amp through amp. period. why are you doing this chain of distortion?
either way it should work fine through pre amp outs, that's what those are for
you can fry amp only if you connect them directly amped out to RCA-in and crank it up, but that's retarded coloration

Sup guys. I'm looking to move up a segment for both my open and closed cans. I currently have ATH-M50 and HD 558. Comfort is extremely important to me because I wear them while i work for 8+ hours a day. I love how comfortable my 558's are but the M50's I can only wear for about an hour before I have to break. I'm currently considering the HD 6xx for open and DT 770 pro 80 for closed.

At and beyond the HD600/650 tier of headphones the only difference between headphones is not in quality but in sound signature, seriously, there are quite a few people who prefer the HD600 over the HD800 and many more who prefer the HD650.

The only exception is jumping from different headphone technologies, planar magnetic and electrostatic headphones/earspeakers sound pretty different to dynamic headphones.

planars do nothing better than dynamic or estat.

worst part about dynamics:
- ringing
- weight
- non-planar wavefront

worst part about estats:
- amping
- poor excursion

planars have all the above and are lolworthy. they somehow managed to create the worst driver technology possible. I doubt they even have a planar wavefront due to the magnets being close to the center of the diaphragm.

i only had a pair of hyperx clouds 2 before, so i can't really compare to anything decent, but when i've got music on i can't hear the keyboard that i'm using, and it's loud
i guess i'll give a short review per my opinion, first impressions were terrible, the box was cartony chinkshit and really set me off as someone used to padded gaymer shit, build quality felt flimsy because of the plastic compared to the cloud's metal
but when i put it on they felt noticeably lighter and easier on my head, the sound quality legitimately blew me away the first few seconds because it was the first time i could actually distinguish instruments when listening to music, heard shit didn't know i could hear
bass is crisp and nice, overall i'd say it was worth it
if you wear glasses you might have problems as i did since the pads clamp up on your head and hurt my ears after a few hours, but just taking it off a few seonds and putting it back on and i was fine for a few more hours
overall ok/10, better than expected

I'm not asking for stupid ass mahogany cups or anything like that, I'm all for pragmatic design. I'm just asking for something *functional* and durable enough to withstand everyday use. A thin plastic webbing that will crack when dropped from two feet doesn't really appeal to me. Look at Beyers, they're ugly, mostly plastic, but still durable. Stax looks like it'll fall apart under its own weight given enough time.

What?
>>
>>65965000
Like with most other sources, I'd guess.

DAP are probably the worst shit I can think of currently as a market. Somehow people are fine paying out of the ass for terrible use interface and extremely marginal audio gain, while they'd have both a better experience and better hardware with a decent androphone and a good external DAC.
>>
>>65965016

>>
imma ask a dumb question.

Is their a way I can have one audio like a pod cast on one side of my ear. and my video game on the other?
>>
>>65965074
Yes.
>>
>>65964793
They went bankrupt once.
The first time Stax threw money at all sorts of other product lines besides electrostatic headphones. That they bled money with the SR-Omega failures and T2 was the most noticeable breaking point.
They consolidated product lines and got bought out before hitting the low point again.

>>65965016
The Koss have a dust problem. Stax normally don't.
The differential signal isn't an issue, but high-voltage parts can be.
Dealer markups, export fees.

>>65965053
A competent portable amplifier would be plenty, except phones are stripping out phono plugs now.
>>
>>65965066
electrostatic force attracts dust, this was a problem in older electrostatic headphones since dust could pile up on the membrane and cause performance losses. these days modern electrostatics use dust shields built in that make it not a problem anymore, but on vintage models they need to be very carefully maintained.

the real situation is that the average person would never even consider getting a DAP these days because phones are so much better, and they can't compete with DACs so instead they target the high end market that will pay extra for literally nothing

True for the volume control, you'd better have a DAC with its own volume control. But bulky ? Shit, I'm not sure.

For the price of a Fiio X5 III (which I own and kind of hate, but I think its issues are wide-spread on the entire DAP market), I could get a Fiio Q1 and a small andro phone, like a Redmi 5, spend a very small part of the leftover money to get USB Player Pro, and I'd have something barely more bulky, a bit more inconvenient (1 box is better than 2), but with an incredibly better user experience and versatility.
>>
>>65965252
Yikes
>>
>>65965263
I don't know, smartphone is just not convenient when my AK120 II (and other DAPs I'm sure) has physical buttons for basic functions like play, pause, previous and next. You try operating your Android without turning on the screen lol.

FiiO and most Chink shit DAPs have shit UI. The A&K is pricy sure but their interface design is leagues above the rest of the pack and worth the price of admission if you ask me.
>>
Recommend me /hpg/

Budget: $200, flexible if quality difference is massive

Location: USA

Source: FiiO E10K

Type: Full-Size
Open-Back

Comfort: I gots a big, sweaty head. Need low clamping force and airy earpads.

Sound Signature: As large a soundstage as possible. But would like something more bassy and/or v-shaped.

Past Headphones: Superlux HD668B - The meme supremes
Love the soundstage on these things, and that's a quality I want to keep in all my future headphones. However, the bass leaves much to be desired in its default state.
The FiiO's "Bass Boost" evens them out a fair amount, but still can get muddy on louder volumes.
I've switched the earpads with the Brainwavz Velour and they are much more comfortable.

tl;dr: Searching for a large soundstage with open-back design and soft earpads, but wanting to retain a strong bass presence.

Eh debatable. But I guess you bought them recently for your kannos so they must be the best thing ever. Such a narcissist thing to say.

I certainly won't try to pitch you on whether cables make a difference or not as that's a losing battle. But I do want to state that designing our new line of wires took just as much time, effort and R/D as designing any of our headphones. A lot of time was spent comparing wires and finding out what made the most noticeable changes for positive audible changes in signal conduction and making sure the wires feel and look of premium quality. Believe it or not braided cables with top quality wire cost a lot to make. If you compare what we offer for the price, it's much less expensive than a lot of other stuff out there. Whether you buy them is of-course up to you, and a decision each headphone user will have to make on their own. I often tell potential cable customers that cables are aesthetic, sonic and form factor upgrades (not always in that order for each person). What percentage that equals always differs for each specific person as with anything in audiophilia.

In short - we're not telling you that you need a cable to enjoy your gear. But for those that believe in it and want a top quality cable, we did our best, I promise!

> balanced is a meme anyways

Knucklehead, it's what ALL Pro Audio uses. There's automatically 6 dB of level gain and noise reduction over RCAs. Balanced audio can also be used to drive headphones in a 5-pin configuration completely separately so there's ZERO crosstalk and an additional 6 dB of gain over single-ended. If you think Balanced is a meme, you've never experienced Hi End!
