it has more to do with the fact that those anime headphone images are drawn ever so slightly off model so that the headphones dont look like bulbous things coming out the side of your head and they actually blend in.

I just bought some Koss Porta Pros last week and they sound great. Today however they made some sort of light snap noise when I was putting them on and one of the swivel cups became loose. The human ear is trash. You are and will always will be limited to 20khz at best. That's if a ear infection dose not give you tinnitus or wax or a noise you have no control over or your jaw alignment is or gets fucked. If you lose a tooth or get a tumor at the back of your ear or just old age. No you can't hear the diffence between them DACs no that wire dose no change anything YOU can hear. >>
>>66675368
there's more to high quality audio than the frequency range. there's also a lot more than the frequency response, which is something that can be changed easily using EQ. it's weird that hpg focuses on these things. musically the highest registers add nearly nothing at all.
>>
>>66675397
Frequency response is the easiest to perceive and measure, meaning it's the easiest thing to shitpost about. It's also important for ultrabrainlets who don't want to learn to EQ, which is most of /hpg/ unfortunately.

Hello /g/entlemen, I have recently purchased the HD800 for a whooping 22.25$ which had a far far better quality compared to the HD700. I can't believe rich non-time travellers would actually pay 5K USDs these days for an "unreleased headset" that is only 15% better than the HD600. The HD800 on the other hand in 2020 is far far above the HD600 by 200% in quality. No retarded bass and no retarded microphone that easily breaks the rest of the wiring transmission. You can modify to hear those small subtle sounds running in the background under the motif and lead instruments, sounds like the wind and non-discernable sounds that you'd normally have to edit the sound file yourself to hear them. /mu/ is going to be so jealous.

Let’s talk about this one company, TOPPING.

Somewhere along the long and beautiful Pearl River, a group of based Chinks finally got fed up with all the bullshit that big companies are feeding to audiophools: DACs costing thousands of dollars, meme R2R ladders, amps with magic crystals, all that shit. So they decided that they will build the perfect companion to headphones, and so they did: top of the line DAC chip, great headphone amp with balanced output, a case that wouldn’t feel out of place in a $2000 product... This is what TOPPING is offering, a top-tier product at bargain prices, no audiophool bullshit, only real quality by focusing on what truly matters.

Buy TOPPING.

R2R-11 is truly special for that price, A/B:d it with my friend’s much more expensive rig and it held up much better than I expected. Honestly, it’s nice that we have stuff like that and Schiit stack to balance out the overall rise in headphone equipment prices, getting a very competitive desktop DAC/amp combo for under 400€ is a great no-bullshit option for those who desire quality audio but don’t want to bleed their wallet for it. After that, the diminishing returns get out of hand.

You'll be alright. HD600 will just work and sound good there.
>what is an amp
The drivers in your headphone do move to the tune of voltage of the audio signal. However, to move they need power, which is voltage and current. How much current the source can provide the instant it is needed might bottleneck your headphones, especially as requirements do increase when volume goes up.
A dedicated headphone amp will typically provide a lot of power on demand. It'll also give you a nice knob to regulate your volume with, and some extra gain so that you can drive your headphones even louder if desired (I've found helps classical music the most).
Popular cost-efficient amps incldue the O2 and the Magni 3.

While I’m not expecting that every headphone has to be built like a tank, there’s no denying the fact that Chifiman’s quality is just unacceptable for headphones that are supposed to be on the high end of the scale.

Just ordered an Aune X1S, anyone have any experience with it?

Anything I should be wary of? As far as I could tell, the only real downside is the output impedance is 10 ohm, which wont effect me much since i'm running HD650.

>>
>>66682944
I didn't say you had to spend $500 for it. FiiO E10K is fine.
>>
>>66682993
the post chain is about a $500 amp/dac which is where that number came from, my main complaint with the e10k is actually just the knob isn't big enough and sensitive enough

I miss my old stereo receiver I had from my dad that had like 500 steps and a huge 10cm dial for volume
>>
>>66682923
So what? It's sitting on a desk 24/7.
>>
>>66683021
I use an AVR next to my desk for headphones and bookshelf speakers. Love the knob, but digital control is a little slow (have to spin the knob too much to get a decent volume increase). A knob with with a pot works nicely.
>>
>>66682981
>good for low impedance headphones
probably not since the output impedance is 10ohm.

Roughly you want to have an output impedance less than 1/8th of your headphone impedance.

So HD650 have an impedance of 300ohm. 300/8 is 37.5. So you want to make sure the amp has an output impedance below 37 ohm.

On the flip side, low impedance headphones, such as 32ohm impedance headphones, 32/8 is 4, so you want an amp with an output impedance below 4ohm.

Again, the Aune X1S has a 10 ohm output impedance, so it's NOT a great option for lower impedance headphones.
>>
>>66683042
>So what?

it's a con for me?

if you dont care about the retarded power brick design then go get it
>>
>>66683126
Thanks, that helps a lot. But how did you find the output impedance of the amp is 10ohm? I can't find that on the specs.
