/i/ - Oekaki is a board that allows you to draw in the browser itself. It has a "Draw" button below the submission box which fires up an online drawing tool for you to draw. Drawings created with it will appear with the filename "tegaki.png" on the file info.
Most people come here thinking /i/ is for doodles made in Paint. The fact is that /i/ has a built-in drawing application in the submission box and quick reply. You can even define the size on the width and height boxes (default is 400x400 pixels).Be warned, tough: even though /i/ defaults to the Yotsuba style (non-worksafe content is allowed), loli, shota, furry and guro content is still forbidden and can only be posted in /b/.

>>523130paint and oekaki are surprisingly interchangeableanyone who wants to use oekaki's more "ambitious" tools would probably just use different software altogether
>>523139I'm just copypasting what the old OP said.
had to use a mouse because my drawing tablet doesn't work with it, wp /i/
>>523139>paint and oekaki are surprisingly interchangeableno they're not, oekaki is so much more fluid on the mouse
ok, where is the file I just drew? I clicked on Finish and I see sweet fuck all.
>>523139The problem with oekaki is that keyboard shortcuts that comes in handy in other softwares don't exist, and you have to do everything manually. For instance, to cancel an action, you either have to click on a tiny 'undo' button or pick the eraser in the menu, compared to just CTRL+Z on anything else.Doesn't seem much but it can get very tedious on the long run.
What kind of a chump actually draws in the Oekaki program? I don't want to trust a drawing to that buggy and inefficient pos.
>>524681Was 2014 the last time you tried to use it? It has been rewritten and runs lightweight in js
damn this is actually pretty cool
>>523125>>523126I didn't get an answer the last time, but are these pics by Trollchan? Is he/she have an archive somewhere?
Even though I originally came here to ask people to R34 Eilene, I had fun unintentionally...

>>533312why not use a drawing tablet?
>>533313Because it enables tryhards who go against the simplicity of the Oekaki genre and to use shit like Paint Tool Sai and Krita to make FUCKING EPIC DRAWINGS that stand out in the worst fashion possible. They don't even bother to alias their brushes.
>>533313Because its pussy shit, if you're not cramping the shit out of your hand in order to impress some random retards on /i/ you are wasting your life.

What does Oekaki even mean, anyway?

I'd forgotten how dreadful drawing with a mouse is. Wish my broke self could afford a nice tablet.

>>540256It originally means doodle or something in japanese. Pixel artists use the term as a way to separate drawing with the pencil tool like it's a pencil and using it to make pixel art. See pic related.
that's nice, had no idea /i had this drawing app
I haven't been lurking here long. Is doodling with a mouse and not being serious looked down upon here?

For those who prefer using the mouse, you can get a bit more precision by slowing your mouse down.Of course, doing this constantly would be a pain in the ass, which is why I wrote a script to do it.Well, I say wrote, pretty much copy-pasted some code from the Autohotkey Help files and assigned capslock as a hotkey for slowing the mouse to speed 1.Here is the code.https://pastebin.com/PEp7YQHQSave that as capslock.ahk, install AHK if you haven't already, double click that AHK file to run.Now hold capslock to slow mouse to speed 1, release to go back to normal. If you don't trust this code, search the first DLLcall (whole line) and you will see it is fine. It should take you straight to the AHK forums. It allows you to get some nice precision with the mouse, but without the hassle of fucking with your mouse settings. (whether hardware DPI button or the software speed)I use it all the time, even for not-drawing stuff like games, editing code or such. The code I use is slightly different, but that's also because I use capslock as a general hotkey modifier to prevent hotkey collisions with program-set hotkeys.

So I got myself a drawing tablet for christmas. Its works fine in Photoshop, but I cant get it to work in the drawing tool. Is there a chrome plug in I need to download? a setting I need to change on my tablet? Please help me, I want to become an active member on this board, but cant for the life of me figure it out.>inb4 "Tablets are 4 fags"I saw a handful of other people with my same problem asking question in this thread, and pretty much all of them got replies saying tablets are for pussies. Let's try and be more positive, please?
>>564931Pressure is not supported in the current version, depending which browser you re using you might have to fight some quirks. For the moment disable windows ink if you use a wacom and Chrome.
>>564931try this https://www.reddit.com/r/Windowsink/comments/8508fi/controlling_pen_behavior_in_windows_10/
>>565017not the guy you were replying to, but this did help me with paint.net (which is what i use to draw)odd how using the built-in tegaki tool on here still doesn't work for me, thoughthanks for the link, anyway!
>>565093Pen behaviour has changes to make the pen send a touch scroll event in chrome. That event is winning over the mousemove. Tegaki needs to be updated to work around it.Fun fact, I found a dev who wanted to clean shipainter codebase. Once code is refactored there might be hope for a js rewrite.
>>564931>>565017>>565093>>565125original dude here, don't think i have windows ink, seeing as I only have windows 8.1.any other suggestions? or is this board just not for me?
