Let's remember the olden days with a bunch of stuff I saved from back then...
This guy used to draw some short comics
Old memes
This was from that guy who drew with a mouse
someone should submit this one for the channel's banner
this used to be a series
The old shipainter was fun, I enjoyed collecting the pch replays
I had drawn this myself. It was shit but I loved the smug expression.
>>564487Damn, I missed the chance to use the right pic for dubs
Looks like this is gonna take some time
There was a shit ton of talent back in those days. I wonder what the oldfags would think when they see people like Marielx and the autistic eskimo village roaming on their board today.
>>564496They'd probably cry inside, just like me.
The replay of this was quite something.
The captchas are killing me
How do you find yourselves without the good old shipaint? It was basically the only reason I kept java installed.
This guy had a distinctive style.Could always spot him from the way he drew lips.
Mouse-kun, how did he do it?He's probably ded now and the knowledge lost.
I have four of these. They're hilarious.
Hurt me more Snake
Then came the time of TF2 comics
Delete /i/ already
>>564535I gather things aren't going too well in here. Was it the deprecation of shi-chan painter that started the decline?I myself stopped coming one of those times it had been broken.
>>564538What was that about, Anon?
>>564538It was around the time when tumblr began raiding the entire website and when Discord became the "hip and cool" thing, making an isolated circlejerk which both pulls regular artists away and puts shittier ones in as replacements.Of course now in days they're too cowardly to show themselves, but I gurantee that they're behind every instigation, every shitpost, and every post in defense of shitty request threads like >>562322Everything was fine until some faggots who don't even post here wanted to derail and target any thread with their little girl drama. They're even trying to force memes based around their personal agenda. With that being said, fuck the mods too. Lazy pieces of shit.
>>564545That one was the girl from Half Life
>>564547Sad to hear that./i/ had been one of the most fun places back then when I first got a shitty Trust tablet to play with.
The Abraham Lincoln was a classic, everyone raved for days.
>>564547Nice head canon retard. But back in reality, all the good artists left to use sites that were actually designed to post art on. They started getting bigger followings and actualy feedback then never bothered posting on /i/ again. The only people who stayed behind were people who weren't good enough to get anything from anywhere else or never drew in the first place like you. /i/s golden age was literally TEN fucking years ago. I couldn't even draw back then but lurked as an underage because so much sick art was coming from here. What have YOU done in the past 10 years you fucking chump? I bet you're either some 30 year old man who cant do more then squiggle out some lines because you drama post on a dead board day in day out or haven't been here for more then 2 years yet think you know anything about anything while again drawing nothing.
old thing good new thing bad
>>564559Yeah, ten yeas ago... those were the days.
>>564567
I liked this guy.His art had a certain something to it. I only saw his stuff for a short while, I always wondered if he had a blog or something.
>>564574I miss you too, random /i/ poster.
>ancientpfft just how old is a board that doesn't even have 1mil posts
>>564571>>564573>>564574Honestly that looks like the edgy "imma cut ya then hug ya" art style you'd see on tumblr
Look who we have here... Olly Lawson! One of /i/'s national heroes.Glad to have had you around Olly.
>>564582Perhaps, but he played around with anons and his drawings had charisma, so he left a positive impression.
>>564582That's some sort of early 90's OVA style there, anon. It'd be an insult to associate it with Tumblr.
>>564547>>564559Make /i/ great again I guess?
>>564559>Nice head canon retard.>But back in reality, all the good artists left to use sites that were actually designed to post art on.I don't even need to look for the evidence, your tumblr lingo alone came right towards me. And it's bold of you to assume that some garbage website where all you have to advertise yourself is spread of word is better than 4chan, which can expose your art in a thread that 5, 20, or even 100 people are watching over.So yeah, real fucking subtle of you, Tumblr.
>>564591
>>564594
Legend of Zelda's porn makers were absolutely based.
This is it... I've omitted some stuff but these pictures represent my favorite moments of /i/.May this be my New Year's gift to you all.A memory of when drawing was fun, a hope that we all can get better and an inspiration from the oldfags.Feel free to post more if you have other gems from the old times.
A seething puddleof brood primordialUnending spectaclesof wonders and failures
>>564602Within this placeof heroes and creepsMay you find solaceand moot friendships
>>564547Two words: /i/-high circlejerk
I doubt anyone will care enough to go through the process of making PCH Viewer work so they can play the animations but have 801 pch files archived some time before Shi-Painter died for good:https://my.mixtape.moe/aqglnu.zipHappy New Year and keep drawing.
>I've been through all of it and I still haven't made anything really worth saving.Well there's always next year.
Damn, I had no idea of the sorry state oekaki was in...Bad interface.Mediocre tools. No pressure support. No replays. The old painter was much, much comfier to use and replays were a good part of the fun.No wonder /i/ is so sad these days. Here, get a zip of my oekaki folder, sadly I didn't have all the PCHs, I lost some stuff after changing pc 4 times, sadly.https://www.mediafire.com/file/a34prfsrsbf4gy0/oekaki-2007-2011.zip/fileMaybe I'll look into adding pressure support into the current painter and push for its implementation, but aren't there better ones like ChickenPaint or something?
>>564615Let it go already
>>564615two words: rent freeone word: cope

>>564627>>564630>>564631>>564615/i/ high was the funnest thing to happen to this board
>>564632The thread itself was fine, no different than some of the other collaborative threads, but the fuckers that came from it who never shut up about it being the "death of /i/" are really annoying.
>>564633yeah so lets just have a glorified /b/ drawthread right here on /i/ right?
>>564634why the fuck not. there's already an /s4s/ drawthread.
>>564637that's not what the /b/ drawthread is like at all you fucking idiothow about you go look at it before jumping to conclusions
>>564638I wasn't conflating them you retard, I was implying that it'd be hypocritical to have a drawthread based on one board but not another. a foreign concept to you, I'm sure.
>>564639holy shit you are fucking denseTHE /b/ DRAWTHREAD IS NOTHING BUT AVATARFAGGOTRYYOU DON'T WANT IT HEREIT HAS NO /b/ CULTUREIT HAS NO /b/ MEMESIT ONLY HAS INFLATED EGOS AND CHAINED FELLATIO AKIN TO THE HUMAN CENTIPEDESTOP BEING PIC RELATED
>>564582>tumblrWeird, I didn't see any obese nigger dykes.
>>564634What, actually have a thread where drawing happens instead of rehashing the past and shitposting? Preposterous!
>>564649>defending the same faggots who are unironically baffled at that concept
>>564638>>564640Unrelated, just wondering, I know you go on the /aco/ oc threads, but do you ever go on the /y/ oc thread? I didn't think gay shit was your style but there's someone who talks a lot like you there.
>>564666Well, that's one way to stalk someone.
>>564670I go there of my own volition, but I guess that answers that.
wow this board used to have a soulfuck I hate myself for discovering it so damn late. What year did everything go to shit?
>>5647132011 at the latest
>>564652Do you mean to say that drawing doesn't happen in a /b/ drawthread?Sorry, I'm not trying to be a jerk, I really am unfamiliar.
>>564713It's not just this board. Look around the site; people only use wojacks and pepes, and the occasional smug anime reaction image when memes used to have more soul.It goes further beyond that, too, movies and television are following the same tired formulas, whether necro-ing a past IP to put their "creative spin" on it or making sassy sitcom number 6889 with the same cast as the others but with different names, acting like their jokes and quips are unique and witty; or action television drama with plenty of romance sideplots or le ebin riskay sex scene, because everyone knows you gotta have those regardless of whether the characters actually mesh. All the while producers push their goddamn agendas or have token characters so people don't whine. This world is reaching creative stagnation, but the problem is so very much deeper than that, and it's affecting everyone whether they realize it or not.
>>564719Drawing happens, but it's between an isolated group of individuals who want to create imvu or VRchat on 4chan. It can't be called /b/ because there's nothing that resembles the tradition of /b/, and it can't be called a drawthread because there's nothing that resembles the tradition of a drawthread. The /s4s/ drawthread is not a traditional drawthread either, but it at least stuck half-true to its name.
>>564713The board was always shit. If it wasn't inactive, some three or four threads nobody liked except a handful of people were always active in those threads alone and always bumped to top page every 8 to 10 minutes. Every other thread was either near or entirely inactive because it wasn't worth jack shit and amounted to a bunch of scribbles which already violated /i/'s only rule, but mods/jannies haven't acted on it then, they won't act on it now. Either that or it was a shitpost with maybe 2 or 3 posters tagging along with the joke, so really, nothing's changed. People who complain about how the board is now shit and remember better times expect some bizarre form of quality from other posters even though they're never able to deliver it themselves. You have thousands of images here in the thread out of the hundreds of thousands that existed before them or during its time. These are just nitpicked because they appeal to nostalgia and (most) are quality drawings.
>>564732>You have thousands of images hereMeant to say hundred.
>>564731Huh. Yeah, that does sound like something that shouldn't be here. Thanks for humoring me.
>>564632with the death of tumblr, I'm surprised they didn't come back here
>>564773You don't get it anon, they're hiding in a Discord circlejerk now.
>>564775The /i/ discord is dead, but there are some secret discord with artists from /i/. None of which I was ever invited to, which makes me wonder what goes on there. Maybe they're dead, doesn't seem like they post much here anymore.
>>564776>The /i/ discord is deadYes 4chan goyim, that is exactly right!
>>564778I mean there's like less than 3 art posts a day and all the prominent artists have disappeared, the people that still post are a bunch of literally whos. Are you really jealous of that?
>>564785Faggot stop projecting, I just want those fuckers gone from my board so that they'll cease to plague it with their autistic rampages.
>>564787Not possible until you leave aswell
>>564787>my board
>>564787aside from all the autism you just spouted,do you think this board is worth preserving? people have said that its golden age was long, long ago. Nothing of value ever gets posted anymore. I'd say you're fighting a losing battle, but you've already lost, and deep down I think you already know this.No amount of shitposting will return this board to its former glory, no amount of doxxing or harrassment, no amount of chasing people out, none of that does any good.I know you think you're doing the right thing, but even if you scared off every "artist" on this board, what would you have left? What's the point?I think you're absolutely insane. All of this has driven you insane. But you find meaning in it -- you've deluded yourself into believING you're preserving the sanctity of oekaki, when in reality, oekaki is nothing. It's absolutely nothing anymore.
>>564800We just need a javascript-based shipainter and chime on /ic/ to send the shitters back here, where they belong.
>>564806Which btw kinda eixsts since this japanese was rewriting PaintBBS: https://github.com/funige/neoAdd a few more tools and tablet support and we can have our shipainter back.
>>564807>>564806I know how to code a little bit, also we can use some tools from open source art softwares if that's possible.
>>564785>prominent artistsName 5, most of them probably got assmad about tumblr and fucked off to newgrounds
>>564806We don't need any more shitters here. Your armchair philosophy board can keep them.
>>564845Where will we get the manure to fertilize the board then?
>>564846From the shitters who are already here, of course.
It makes me really depressed, actually.I discovered this site back in 04 because I had just gotten into Oekaki and shipainter. I've seen a lot of people come and go, and 2 of my absolute favorite artists that used to post on this board have their pictures posted in this very thread. I started drawing on this site because of the one guy who only used a mouse and that's how I got into this.I stopped coming here when the painter kept dying maybe a year or so after Black Eyes started posting. This used to be my all time favorite board on this site and now I don't even visit anymore. Thanks for the memories, though.Maybe shipainter will come back here one day, but I know deep down it won't. Was fun while it lasted.Sage for blogpost.
>>564723>but the problem is so very much deeper than thatnot that anon but go on? I'm interested in reading whatever autistic rambling you have
>>564617>>564465Wish I could go all the way back and browse through forgotten oekakis. I remember a lot of talented artists and some genuine funny threads.
>>564465Thanks for all the neat pictures OP.
>>564787they all contributed more to (((your))) board than you'll ever have
>>565267In shitposts, maybe.
>>565267Sorry, you are right.
>>565274In actual content for the board given that you don't post any relevant enough to consider
>>565282I'm sure you have enough evidence on me, an anonymous user, to actually say that.
>>565291keep seething delta and begging for people to draw your characters in the oc thread
>>565298Let me rephrase myself.I'm sure you have enough evidence on me, an anonymous user who isn't your Discord boogeyman, to actually say that, you schizophrenic mongoloid.
>>565307>saying "discord boogeyman">calling other "mongoloid" because he thinks that living in nova scotia makes him highly intelligentyup, found delta
OP here. Teamed up with another dev for restoring ShiPainter to its former glory. All of the paintchat ecosystem actually, since some code is shared. We'll clean up the decompiled code and refactor. My aim is to ultimately transpile or rewrite the engine to javascript, hopefully with animation support to original files as well.I tried to contact shichan for permission but got no answer and his site is gone.Hopefully he will one day notice us and join the project... Without shutting us down for trying to resurrect our favorite painchat/painter.Can't wait to fix those decade old bugs.

>>564581/i/ is SLOW. A thread dies after not being bumped for three weeks straight. Don't expect many posts here, pal.
>>565485All I had was in the mediafire link. If you want more you should seek an oldfags with a bigger stash than mine.
>>565504I kind of wish I saved some of my old stuff here from the shipainter days. This board was always my favorite.
is there any possible way to revive the board?
>>566580Of course there is a way. All /i/ needs is a javascript ShiPainter. At the moment we're cleaning up the Java code. When it's good enough I'll see what I can do to rewrite it to JS.It's gonna be slow, though. I have a job and many side projects crying for attention.
>>566580Stop crying and draw?
>>566583Take your time Anon, also much appreciation to the work you're doing for the painter~
>>566583Looking forward to seeing your progress on it.
btw is there a shortcut for 'erase' or 'undo' in the current oekaki application we have now? i really miss shii painter, but now this piece of crap is just so user unfriendly...
>>566583any progress so far?
>>567206Yes.We did fix a couple of bugs here and there but I'm still juggling with a gazillion unnamed variables that need naming and functions that do god knows what.As I said, it's gonna be slow.
Damn op must not have liked my art all lol.I don't come here at all anymore but it was nice seeing some of the pics from the good ol' days that made this place great to lurk at. Shocked the collaborative longcat oekaki isn't on here.I wish the old Oekaki java boards were back. Hell, I'd still use it.
>>567629I have lost a chunk of them along with the pchs, which is why I was hoping for fellow anons to fill the blanks.
>>567754desu, there hasnt been much worth saving besides no'body's art post 2016. There's been artists appearing here and there but mostly to make art dumps of things they drew for their sites/blogs.
>>565420>>566583I'd love to help out. These past few days I've been trying to transpile a decompiled shi-painter but wasn't getting anywhere. Do you have a git server for this?
Good luck, guys. Make /i/ great again.Hopefully noodlemoot won't be a prick about it.
>>564590I`m working on a compilation of books (loomis, etc) but it will take me 1 year.Keep dreaming and being insufferable fags.
>>564468I loved these.
>>564485>>564482Pretty sure these were from fearsome oekaki, not /i/.
>>568488Yep, we have a repo on Github. The other dev had already started working on it months ago, since I joined I've spend a good deal of time renaming variables, documenting and making sense of the code. It's literally the only shipainter repo being actively worked on. Try googling "shipainter github", you can't miss it.>>568499Someone should draw M/i/GA caps for motivational boost.
>>568508Dunno, sometimes people reposted stuff from foreign boards. It was so many years ago.
>>568499There's no need to worry, I don't think he even bats an eye to this place.
>>568510I know that Josh and E! both posted there, so did Sirkowski. I still check it out regularly in case they post something again. Those pics were definitely posted on Fearsome Oekaki, but I'm not sure if they were posted there the first time or here.
>>568509Probably the last time I'll ever have fun on nu-tegaki.
