>>
>Start doing Inktober so I can get in the habit of drawing everyday

I need /ic/ to scold me hard. Really make me feel like shit so I can have a little more self discipline
>>
>>3161593
don't make up for it just go. why do you faggots make drawing so hard?
>>
>>3161599
Mediocre people need drama to give themselves meaning. They'll spend more time drumming up drama than doing what they need to do in life.
>>
>>3161593
I won't scold you. Truthfully I don't care if you draw or not.

But the truth is this:
If you don't practice you won't improve.
And if you can't art on demand, you won't get a job in any art-related industry.

>Are we allowed to use pencil, what's the deal?
I sketch digitally, then I print it out in light red and ink it traditionally, then I scan it and remove the sketch.

It got to the point where I was fuddling with the col-erase pencils so much I couldn't finish the sketch. Digi sketch lets you lasso, stretch, scale, and layer your sketch.

I lifted the process from Jake Parker so I feel like it's not cheating.

Got lazy today on account of having to do catchup.

I was going to do a clean, proper drawing of Ice with the wolfskin scabbard on bristol with lots of detail and texture but the rough study sketch on copy paper was decent enough to pass. I could have converted it to blueline, printed it on nice paper and done a final pass but that would have felt like cheating.

Tomorrow will be better I hope.

I was planning to draw Ice, but felt that would be too on-the-nose so I chose the Iron Throne instead. I thought about drawing a member of the Kingsguard, since they're the sworn swords of the king, and drew up some armor designs but decided to just draw the throne with a couple Kingsguard.

stay optimistic friend i think its not that hard to get 30 drawings by end of october its just the question of how detailed they are. But i think whole point of inktober is consistency, so lets hope people dont put too much work into every piece so they will give up in the end

The point of inktober is breaking out those motherfucking pens that are sitting collecting dust.

WIP of this piece.
>>
>>3163912
jesus christ dude, inktober is supposed to be about getting out of a comfort zone, you're gonna redo the same woman 30 times ?
>>
>>3163915
Its also about practicing ink drawing in general. Which I sorely need practice doing. I overdraw a single image with a pencil, so going over the same drawing a few times with a pen isn't that big of a deal.

For all intense and purposes me redrawing the same thing to get it right is moving out of my comfort zone. If I approach everything in art as try once and only once I'll never be able to improve.

So the wip would be studies to the final image.
>>
>>3163915
Also, my theme for Inktober is drawing Cavewoman. Which would get my fill in for drawing Cavewoman for some time.

well the majority of his audience is 12 year olds who want to animate in care bare style and technically it is a good advice to that demographic.
But for anyone else who doesnt want to only animate other peoples ideas, its still a good way to force yourself to produce some good thought out art with limited time.

opaque tablet, I bought a $300 screen tablet but it failed to work (it never correctly connected to my computer no matter what among other issues) and I barely managed to get a refund after harassing the company, so I haven't tried others.

man this drawing came out really randomly- it was going to be something entirely different but I just worked with it

And I want to say this came out great to me- I'm happy with how it is- I feel like I could have added more to the environment though. I actually spent more than an hour on this.

btw not truly following any prompt- though I may go to the thread's main prompt for ideas for that day.

Day 8 of Inktober. Too big for the scanner and I didn't want to piece it together.

I have about another two days of Inktober ideas in process as well.
>>
>>3165445

Do yourself a favor and buy yourself a wideformat all-in-one.

Being able to scan and print big paper is so liberating.
>>
>>3165447
>paper I drew Day 8 on is 14"x17"
>have a 27" Cintiq

It is part of why I will be drawing the inktober works I have done (and will do) after inktober (or during).

I really do want to get a scanner that can handle 14"x17". I'm seeing some decent priced flatbeds that are $300 or less (used).
>>
Has anyone else found more notable artists to learn from?
>>
>>3165452

Dedicated tabloid flatbeds are harder to find. Wide format all-in-ones are plentiful and scan well. Go to Staples and look around. Six months back I got a Brother AIO for $80, discounted because it was a discontinued model.
>>
>>3165452
>>3165461

Just noticed you said 14x17", not 11x17". In that case, I have nothing to offer but well wishes.

this thread has inspired me to buy copic markers or whatever they are- there are probably some on ebay right?
>>
>>3165822

You can usually find used Copics being sold in lots for a decent price.

If you want to be more particular about the colors you have, ordering from Japan (via a buying service like FromJapan) or buying at Michaels (using 40% and 50% off coupons) is the way to do it.

The best way to start is to get a set of greys. You can get by with a half set just fine but a full set is obviously more versatile.

If you want color, it's easy to get overwhelmed by the huge selection. This chart is a pretty good starter guide.
>>
>>3165827
Thank you so much for this pic and general info, anon. Saved.

I was looking into monochrome markers first because I'm on a bit of a budget for now. But I will scan/browse for some right now.
>>
>>3164029
Day 6.
>>
>>3165836

Just so you know, Copic has four families of grey: Cool, Neutral, Toner and Warm. Cool and Warm are self-explanatory, Neutral and Toner are more intermediate.

I have Neutral grey markers but I'd recommend the Cool Grey as there's an extra light value (C00). An example starter set would be C00-C1-C3-C5-C7-C9-100 (black). At Blick that's a little under $40, which isn't bad since you'll have them for the rest of your life.
