I come here once a week and still I have to make the new draw threads everytime because nobody here has any initiative. You even let archive the old one. Why does nobody care about the draw thread anymore? What will you do when I leave? Will it desappear? - EDITION

Post your current drawing here and give constructive critique to others!

Please make sure your posted image is clear, downsized to around 1000 pixels wide, rotated to the correct orientation, and that any unused space is cropped.
If you want critique on a drawing from the previous thread, you can delete it there and repost in this one.

Thanks! I was inspired by the Gee Bee Z, but I wanted it to be incredibly cheap and easy to fabricate.

With a very high pitch prop it might reach 90 knots going straight down. The control surfaces would lock up and part of the rudder would rip off.

It's also a sort of balancing act. With a $2000 kart engine the wings would have to be unsheeted to save weight, so the covering could detach at high speeds like in The Wind Rises. With an $8000 paraglider motor you could have solid material under the covering and the exposed cockpit might become the limiting factor.
>>
>>3469389
i forgot that modern aircraft are stupid fast compared to old stuff. even still some of our single prop stuff flies at 90kts with landing gear down.

Yuck, take it to the porn thread or beg.
Definite problems with that facial construction. You're getting the idea that it needs to be foreshortened and the face is further down on the head when its pointed down, but its too extreme or just doesn't look like its attached to the head. It may look unnattached because there aren't strong lines to define the actual headshape as opposed to the face.

Edge control please. Harsher edges, especially on the outline of the form. Be sure to have a strong balance between soft and hard edges. A little more range in your values wouldn’t hurt either, add some lighter areas of color to break up the monotony.

TL;DR, shit’s too fuzzy and shit’s too dark

>>3471417
You could try posting a page of studies and faces you've drawn from imagination so we can tell you what the recurring mistakes are.

>>3470704
The drawing is awesome but it's kinda monochrome right now. The skin would look even more macabre with a more natural lighting. Great concept though.
>>
>>3471792
This looks nice! I’d suggest upping the light coming from the buildings to illuminate the character’s silhouettes a bit more. Either that or make the bg darker and the characters brighter.
>>
>>3471792
The background is all spaghetti

Maybe have the shapes break outside the cloud forms, or reduce the city to simple dots, like you would imagine when seeing a city at night from afar

Atm it looks kind of akira inspired with that massive glow
>>
>>3470698
Either or for these, but you could experiment with darkening the figure a bit so the rim lifting is a stronger contrast
>>
>>3470609
imo it’s kind of hard to make soft edges look good with more graphical work like this. Have you tried painting flats and then hatching for softer gradiation- or just leaving flat and designing the shapes.

Her shirt or whatever ends in a way so it indicates a box-shaped torso, which gives it form. This might have given you the illusion that it is better than the other crap, since noone in this board has the IQ to comprehend form and those who do are worshiped as gods even if they suck.

What I'm saying is: everything sucks, the chicken scratch lines, the anatomy, the face, the fact that it's unfinished (which is the worst offender)
I wouldn't even call it unfinished, no, it is rather "started", as in "started to draw for three minutes, stopped and decided to upload the sketch on 4chan".

try to limit to 3 values lik this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcCJ2CU-bFw&t=497s

also I follow you in IG and understand you, have few people viewing your work sucks but its part of the journey I suppose. dont give up and keep pushing forward m8.

The hand seems small or just flat. I can't find a similarly posed image other than pic related but note how there are three planes of the hand shown. Maybe try keeping it a similar size but changing the orientation of the gauntlet so you can see the pinky side more would help it look less flat. Rendering would help but I think that it could still be worth a touch up.

Didn't realize the image wouldn't allow hotlinking.
>>
>>3472220
Someone has had too much crab.

You're also an idiot, simple as that. That piece is FAR better than the others and it LOOKS like the artist just started it probably because they DID. You can still see the basic gesture sketch underneath, which by the fuzzy-ness of it, makes me think it was probably a thumbnail they resized?

How I draw personally, I go thumbnail, sketch, refined sketch, line work, then flats and rendering. Based off that for me, it'd probably be like 10 minutes of work probably. Not much.
Sure, anon still isn't amazing based JUST on that image, but they're LEAGUES above the other anons you (you)'d.

Really nice anon, can you give me some tips about linework? What program do you use and what your process looks like?
>>
>>3472820
That's really good if its really only after 3 days.
You can feel the form nicely and the values are broad.

How do I draw like Disney animators?

I was trying to draw Alice in Wonderland today but I'm finding it really really hard.

Wondering what others think about this style. Doesn't take too much effort, took around an hour, probably.
>>
>>3473058
is good. could probably use black outlines or linework tho
>>
>>3473092
Huh, I usually leave the lines black, but I thought it might look more polished if I colored it somewhat. Thanks for your comment!
>>
>>3472817
You ignored the very saturated blue midtones. Seriously, colour pick from right where the brighter skin starts to meet shadow and compare it to the same location on yours.
Use a softer smaller brush also. A lot of the edges are too hard (around lips, eyes, ear, hair. hell, pretty much everywhere.) and its clear you went into rendering details before you should have. Work in larger areas of generalized shades/color before you get into the smaller ones.

I'd point out to separate the blue sweater lady's arm from the rest of her body because it looks like her arm is coming out of her stomach. I really like the geometric shapes you're pulling off, it's nothing I can do but I like it when artists do this(have you seen Rafal Wojtunik's stuff?)

will keep in mind, I tried to bump the contrast which may have been a bad idea. Also I try not to colour pick straight from the image because I assumed that was something I should try to learn? Seeing the colour for what it is I mean. Thanks for the reply <3

I didn't know the guy but I like his stuff. Thanks for all the critiques by the way.

I like the design you've made. The face is kinda hard to read, you can probably refine your volumes with a darker pencil, maybe even do it digitally.
>>
>>3472817
Not the same person, trace the proportions and you will see what I mean.
Also, it needs some mid tones
>>
>>3473466
I usually stick to lighter pencils because I have commitment issues, and I have no clue how to do stuff digitally. I have the tutorial website from the sticky, but I'm stuck in my comfort zone right now.

Why does every single beginner feel the need to almost boast about how long they've been drawing? I see this shit everywhere.
>>
>>3473459
Perspective looks a bit off. The inset for the door and windows is hella THICC too, looks like they're 2-3 feet wide. Unless you're trying to make that building a blast proof bunker, you might want to move those windows farther out. Other than that, it's a pretty generic 2 point perspective drawing. It kind of looks like you did the "public high school art class" perspective thing where you draw a horizon line, pick vanishing points, and then draw your objects. If you're doing that, you're putting the cart before the horse. You'll want to start off with a rough composition, freehand the basic shapes and perspective, then find your vanishing points based on that and use them to make sure your perspective is consistent. Try Drawabox and learn how to free hand boxes, and also read Ernest Norling's Perspective Made Easy, it's a pretty simple beginner's guide to perspective.

I need help.
My bamboo is having a very odd issue where it's working only when I tilt it.
Even the eraser isn't detected, so I must draw with my pen at an odd angle, and it started today.
I'm going back home soon and have my cintiq there but I really hope my bamboo doesn't just die, I love that little board.

This is better but I was thinking of her with a stronger rimlight. It doesn't need to be brighter necessarily but thicker, bolder, and pretty much up and down the entire sides of her form. Looks nice anyway.

Yeah, I had a feeling you'd say that. It's difficult when you're building up your knowledge of working with value and shapes of value. Many people have a tendency to go too subtle, and harsher contrast looks too jarring at first. I would encourage you to keep pushing value in your images as you continue because it can be a powerful asset if one learns how to balance it. The picture is pretty nice though, good luck on your future works.

Extremely late to this, but try moving her ear up towards her eye-level, and her thigh/butt shouldn't extend as far down as it does, so I'd pull it closer to the front part of her leg.

should start with a midtone gray background. your values are too light, low contrast, washed out. midtone gray background would help direct those values to be more balanced and rich.
>>
>>3475364
Thanks m8, I'll keep those in mind.
>>
>>3475357
The silhouettes and gestures are very unclear, you could definitely exaggerate them more. Spread their bodies out some. Dragons are supposed to be big, let them dominate the composition instead of cramping them in the bottom left corner. You could also bump up the depth by making one closer to the foreground.
