Thanks, it got done and redone a few times before I got it where I wanted it. It was really my first time trying to push light, but it sure as hell was a learning experience.

I used a ref for the light through water, but didn't really use one for the fabric. I couldn't figure out a way to get some to stay in that shape, and it shows at the bottom near the circle.
>>3498204
For the fabric texture /lightinh however, I just looked up some pics of fabric suspended on the wind on google, and then applied my imagination. Thats probably why I ended up re doing it a few times. Pic related is one of the earlier iterations.

honestly what's usually the case is I will bring a piece to the level of finish that my current level is, and then in three months or so I have about 30 paintings that I can actually finish properly.

The OP picture for instance is something I did in March and then I finished it in july. this was it the first time I finished it.

No doubt I will come back to that painting when I'm ready.
>>
>>3507824

>>3507826
some paintings, but I can't resist finishing everything, and usually my paintings take about three months to finish. I just like having something new to paint on, I don't really care how they look I just like painting something until I get bored with it.

What do you guys have against digital? It's the techniques that should matter, not the medium.
>>
>>3509493
>HURR it's the artist and not the art materials
Because digital is shitty and easily made disposable. Its the Chad Traditional artist that paints 10/10 QT models and fucks them afterwards and gets paid/has his own studio business or gallery. The shutin virgin digital artist constantly complains about "not improving/making it or making a living from art and if he does it is almost always working as corporate wage cuck designer coolie that shudders in fear and stress of not making his corporate masters impossible to meet quotas and deadlines.

Don't believe me? Try going out painting (not plenair tablet dumb ass) in a park or nice place in the city and watch how girls will fawn over you and potential clients come by.

Well I use digital because traditional mediums aren't compatible with my lifestyle. I do still try to focus on traditional techniques and color theory and watch lectures with traditional painters to see how they work.

And you can easily get chicks with digital too if you show off skills on a laptop. (caught me a little off-guard the first time. I got the looks I guess but I'm a loner by nature and suddenly I had two girls passing down offers from other guys just to hang out with me)

artists that make loose strokes look good tend to work a lot slower than "flicks of the wrist" would imply. It's not about quantity or the speed of the strokes but the quality of reducing it to its simple expression.

ofc anon. FIrst of all, I'd say composition-wise you have too much space on the bottom. It would be pretty cool if there was a path or something happening in that area. Painting wise I'd say the sky strokes look very cool with lots of different hues used. I really don't have a lot of knowledge. The white on the cabin is too white. are you by any chance scandinavian
>>
>>3511061
>>3509136
looking at the landscape.

It's a mess. You have to think about how you lead the viewer's eyes. Group your image better based on value grouping. Think of the contours and feel the shape when you put down the brush strokes. That can help tell things apart. show how the wind have blown that grass with one set of strokes while that dirt path follows another set of strokes.

If you have problems with contours then I would point out that all great painters throughout history were also great draftsmen and that helped then a lot in their paintings and shows in their techniques.

The very fact a blue collar drunkard could sell paintings is a testament to the zigest of 1950's/60's taste. Also his paintings were never meant to last, something the idiot art counisurs didn't get and are now stuck with degrading paintings they stupidly spent millions for.

>Maybe use different tools.

>You should work on making flat areas and smooth gradient transitions.

>>
>>3513086
If you listen to painters who have studied under the old masters you'll hear that in order to master any medium two of the things you need to be able to do is hard edges where you separate one color or value from another. Then you need to be able to do gradation for blending, form and lost edges, especially if you want to do realistic paintings.

It doesn't matter if it is digital or traditional, these rules still apply. Some traditional painters will mix different type of paint to achieve this while others will look to tools like wet sponges and so on. Then if you don't have all the colors available then it really becomes important that you understand color theory to compensate.

Looking at your stuff you should probably study impressionism.

>You seem to be the incarnation of le ironic millenial artist, what exactly is your function?
I'm racing Van Gogh in total number of paintings produced in less amount of time. I'm currently in the peasant painting period which is all solicited from anons on /tv/ mostly and argued about on /ic/ because spite and obsessiveness and weird childish antagonistic masochism is part of it.

Plus I'm also shooting footage of the process starting at #17 and it keeps spiraling out through time for years as one continuous stream of conscious impulse that will eventually be edited into a spearmintel film that includes ranting vo commentary and historical and personal context as I devolve from trying to be a wholesome autistic youtube meme painter into a berserksklovn monster that lives in a bunker ranting about how subversive messaging strategy is destroying how people understand what thinking is. It's all a bit of a fun little goofy gag I'm doing for the How to paint Trump episode. Been in production since January 2017.

Here's most of the timelapse footage of the process chronically edited into an hour long fucking music video featuring the groovy tunes of your favorite hipster bands like LCD soundsystem and Arcade Fire and MGMT and shit like that because go fuck yourself. https://youtu.be/45GkUiuRmjM I like the last minute of it.

If anything there's a pleasant irony to you basically lifting dialogue from the le ironic millennial artist trope, after that was what you had just projected at me. Kind just makes you look like a hypocrite while further illustrates the entire point of the project: that time is entropy, cosmically and existentially all effort will always be for nothing, and meaning should be found in the effort itself.

What medium are you using. Wet on wet can be tricky with any paint because you basically have to have the brush feeding paint at a rate to deposit it on top of the wet layer of the ground without allowing to brush to pick up any of the wet layer below. Its really easy to get a muddy mess, especially with oils. This is one of the spots where acrylic's quick drying can be an asset.

What I usually do is really load the brush up, and stop at intervals along the line to clean and reload the brush. I'm not great at it, but that seems to work for me.

Kinda where I'm at. Wish the meme guy would stop harassing me cause he thinks the guy that was calling him "bitch boy" was me but whatever. I've been through worse on this site.

I think we both know that it was you brah. Why lie? You posted your vomit trees in the same chain, using the same writing sytle as the bitch boy posts, which were all about how desperate that anon was to stress how much better they think they are.

The reason you're trash is because you're a fucking coward. Coulda just owned it and it could have been funny shitposting. Instead you wait til that tread 404s and then start swearing it wasn't you.

Seems a bit disingenuous tbphwyf. Do you lie often?

motherfucker was bragging about how he already had a big ol following. 19 people on instagram is a weirdly small following for someone to brag about is all I'm getting at.

Just seems like a faggy thing to get uppity about on 4chan, particularly when it isn't even true.

You're alright, VG2. Keep doing god's work. And start all the trad generals from now on -- it kills him when he doesn't make it.

there I'm the 20th follower. You should use hashtags Brian. They also have fucking bots that can use that will like random posts that use hashtags that you choose, so you can constantly be networking with other artfags by giving them likes, which draws their attention to you and gives you more likeminded followers and stuff.

I mean I'm kind of salty? I'm mostly just being a prick as goof. If anything it's just kind of sad to see someone that actually does put in the work and is that insecure that they need to tell themselves they're better than the fuck you meme painter. It kind of should have been self-evident, so it says a lot about his scents of self.
>>3515754
>why are you so obsessed with him?
idk. I kind of like his art for one thing, and I'm interested by how insecure he is. Went to art school and everything but still gets super triggered by memeschlock art for some reason.

I did. I said "I mean I'm kind of salty." Which is about as "hurt feelings" as I get really. I thrive on being antagonized. idk if it's really irony as much as it's autism tbphwyf.
> and tell us what this is all really about.
I did. "I kind of like his art for one thing, and I'm interested by how insecure he is." Plus I'm all about behavioral conditioning and subversion and entropy and stuff. Dude went out of his way to conduct a shitpost hissy fit for hours with a bunch of "lol didn't read" posts in my containment quarters, acting like a tryhard asshole that thought he was being le ebin troll anonymously. I'm nothing if not a demon, and m'gurl b-rain gave me something to do for a day or 2.

Why does there need to be a "what this is all really about" though? I'm like a dog chasing a car meme

Oil. I think part of my problem is that my brushes (even flats) have some fray and don't give as hard/sharp an edge as I'd like. They weren't inexpensive.

I'm using bristle. Maybe I should use synthetic.
