thanks, ive been wanting to make comics since I started drawing but am not a very good storyteller or writer, so after a decade of trying to get good enough to make comics and not feeling like im quite there ive just started making unrelated panels and thumbnails of scenes from my commute.

I did another trying to make the reflected light less bright, but I liked the first one better overall.

It’s gonna be awesome!
>>
>>3804297
your reflected light is still too bright compared to the midtone

the core shadow is too soft and should wrap around the sphere at the edges of the diameter, not the center

the horizon line edge should be softened to create more atmospheric perspective

sharpen the origin of the cast shadow

the highlight position should not be right at the contour of the sphere

your application of graphite is good

>>3806425
you cant just draw and get better anon. Studying drawing can seem hard but it really isn't. Open an art book, put on some nice music and just relax. Something that has helped me enjoy myself a lot more is realizing that simple things like studying anatomy are quite easy and can be relaxing. They just take a bit of time. And being good at drawing feels great so take the time to learn if it something you want to do.

Sharpen your pencil like in the pic and learn to draw with the side of it for shading
you're still thinking in symbols, try to read the underlying form rather than what your eye sees
>>
Bump
>>
>>3807324
Using the side is one way to shade. I had a teacher in college who hated shading like that, others hated using smudgers, it's all personal preference. His shading is fine, as far as technique goes, his issue is how he's applying it.

Really good stuff, anon. Btw, i've always wanted to ask a good artist why some - if not most - good artists sketch like that.
I'm talking about those shaky loose lines with very little detail defined. Why do you make bold marks in certain places and pretty much no marks at all in some others? Is it a matter of style or does it help you to think about the shapes or some shit like that?
>>
>>3806882

>>
>>3808421
Thanks for the compliment!
It helps to convey distance, light and darkness, and it is also a stylistic choice. It makes things pop. But yeah, if one part of a body is under more light it will not be as defined as one in shadow.
If i want attention on a certain detail, it will be bolder. If it is farther away, it will be simple, etc.

looks like you almost ran outta room there, his head is just a smidge from being cut off. Maybe its because you start a drawing by doing small details first before looking at the bigger picture? I mean, you focus on the little things which can lead to running out of room on the page, misaligned features and a ton of time spent. Try lightly drawing the major forms first and narrowing it down to secoundary and tertiary forms before focusing on the details.

I haven't drawn much of anything in like 2 years and it shows. I was recently given some sketching markers and I like em a lot, and so I got back into it. I feel like I've fallen back on symbol drawing, but every once in a while I have these brief periods of lucidity where I can feel my old skillset pushing it's way through my brain. I'll post a couple pictures. I know the shading is most likely incorrect on these but I just wanted to add neat splashes of color with the markers

What part of his anatomy is fucked up though? And for reference, his right hip is rotated and pointing almost directly at the viewer, and his shoulders are not, I've taken references of the pose from a body builder, with those actual proportions as well...the anatomy is sound.
