What's the purpose of Aureate Constricter (Yacatect) and Magic Canceler (Itzpalt)? I only remember where Fetter of Earth and Lulwy gift are used for because they're pretty self-explanatory. As for the other gods... I don't remember using their 3rd gifts even once

If I was smart, I'd put a good Bioshock joke here.

Since I am actually smart but my sense of humor sucks and I haven't actually played Bioshock, have this one:

What does a snail say when it's hit by salt?

"Oh fuck, it's salt!"
>>
>>17726600

Magic Canceler

By reducing Casting skill your spells will fail to cast. You still gain experience towards leveling the spell and the Casting skill when they fail. The benefit is that you can cast at a low level enemy and not kill him (becasue the spell fails) and still train the spell and skill.

Aureate Constricter

reduces the amount of gold you have to spend to trigger training in negotiatoin. ideally used at trader where price is not reduced. at 94 negotiation I had to buy 4 ragdolls at 658 gold eacah to trigger purchase. The old formula for what level gold you need to spend to trigger training does not appear to be accurate any more. I had to spend 15k gold to trigger training. This incresaed how many trains i can get per trader by about 5x. Only affects when warn so can be taken off.

stealth component part is useless it makes it harder to train with it on.
>>
>>17726774

>The benefit is that you can cast at a low level enemy and not kill him (becasue the spell fails) and still train the spell and skill.

I don't think this is the case. I have a level 3 magic dart and I still have 58% failure even while wearing Magic Canceler. Thinking about it more, I think one of its purposes is for Magic Capacity training? Since I think a low overall MP value will help you train it faster but it's required that you have high max HP since the overcasting damage builds up pretty quick

As for Aureate Constricter... ehh, google doc says:

>Price*Price/(Negotiation*5+10) min. 10 xp max 1000 xp

So a very low denominator would maximize the Charisma exp gained amount even at a cheap price
>>
>>17726833

have to use canceler+be in heavy gear+two hand crap for real casting handicap even then need some thing spam it on to train casting the spell and Capacity/Control Magic/Meditation

You could just modify the config file with "anime_wait=0", that way all animations are removed and everything becomes like oracle in its spammability.
I recommend to put them back in after your training session is done though, visual cues help knowing what is going on in dungeons.

Living weapon starts at L1. Add nine levels to make it L10. Assuming elemental damage is added, this will give it 1800 power of the chosen element. (9*200)
Attempting to make it L11 will give an extra message saying that it feels weird. If you ignore the message and level it anyway, it'll start bloodsucking.

Longbow can hit enemies 10 tiles away and has reasonable damage and +7 accuracy (for an adamantium longbow). Probably the best option if your main concern is ZA WARUDO. Not sure how you'd go with levels there; I'd probably put everything into +critrate since spillover there boosts accuracy.
Skullbow can hit enemies 7 tiles away and does the best damage, but it comes with -22 accuracy. Probably the best choice if you want DPS (which means the usual 9 levels of magic/lightning/nether damage).
Shortbow can only hit enemies 6 tiles away and does the worst damage. Only upside is the +15 accuracy. Almost certainly not worthwhile.

Since attacks during time stop can't miss.
>>
>>17729490
I'll go for the DPS skull bow. Probably 8 levels magic and one level chaos damage. I'll fight at 5% health with the barrier and critical feats. Thanks for the help.
>>
>>17729552
I was thinking in terms of attacking enemies from further away to get off more attacks before they close in, so you have a better chance of activating time stop.
>>
>>17729585

>Price*Price/(Negotiation*5+10) min. 10 xp max 1000 xp

So by this computation, you only need to purchase a 1000 gold item to maximize your Nego/Char exp while wearing Aureate Constricter? How is that any different from not wearing it at all? For example, even if you had 100 negotiation and purchased a 1000 item...

>1000*1000/(100*5+10)=x>1000

The exp is still maximized? I seriously don't get this at all desu
>>
>>17730778
I think it might be 1000*1000/(100+5)*10
>>
>>17730783

Well, I'm just following what I've found on the google doc. I finally diagnosed what seems to be wrong. There's this ebin condition that's preventing non-constricter users from gaining easy full exp from purchasing

>Selling or buying an item where the price is greater than or equal to (Nego + 10)*(Nego +10)

So at 100 Negotiation without constricter, you need a 12100 gold minimum to gain exp while those wearing one only needs a staggering amount of 100 gold worth of purchase (0+10*0+10=100).
>>
>>17730778
It's (xp*(Negotiation*5+10))root square
So (1000*(1*5+10))rs=11000rs=105
>>
>>17730833

Eh? Where'd that root square come from? And where did the other "Price" multiplier go? That's 15000rs=122 btw.
>>

>>
>>17730922
>>17730957
Alright I figured it out, if you carry too little gp tax is based on turns passed. My tax jumped from 18k to 4k after getting over 200k gp.
>>
>>17731144
Your journal has an accounting function that breaks down your taxes.
>>
>>17731169
I am aware of that, I only talked about the "tax" part in the journal. The old Elona + patchnotes state that the "tax" part of the taxes is based on gp but if you're gp is too low it's based on turns passed.
Meaning I pay less taxes with 200k gp than with 3k.
>>
currently i am a follower of itztapalt if i switch god's do i lose itztapalt buffs?
>>
>>17731217
you lose the passive buffs from faith (like the elemental ressitances) not the gifted buffs such as your pet.
>>
>>17730926

That only seems to be valid if there's an "=x²" at the end of the formula so root squaring it is valid but it's only "Price²/(Negotiation*5+10)=x where x is the total xp gained min 10 max 1000" I think.
>>
>>17731217
You keep the bonus to the elemental trio spells, but lose skill/attribute bonuses.
>>
>>17731217

you loose all passive buffs form gods you get keep items etc

Traveling is just a great skill for every point of the game.

Even sonsidering the fact that most of skills it significantly trains in later games are the ones you do not use much, it still gives lots of attribute experience.

So I'd say yes for getting it 1st. Unless you need something very specific (like when you start as a snail and NEED that riding first), go for traveling.

Yeah. But, of course, they need to be same version. Custom 1.71 with plus 1.71, custom 1.70 with plus 1.70, etc.

Custom just adds couple of files(with ai data, and own settings) to your save folder, while leaving original files only for original data. So you can always return back to plus, and game will run perfectly fine - just ignoring those extra files from custom.

I'm not a fan of messing with graphical resources, so i can't really answer this questions(at least not the way you'd like, like "recompile game to change hardcoded font size, and whatever you like else"). But if you did it with E+, then same should work with E+C, as it doesn't rewrite original rendering.
And of you're getting some weird results it means you're pulled together some very weird(and wrong) set of modifications.

In graphics/PCCs/ there are files for player character bodies, and others for hair, eyes, clothes, etc... If you are using a custom character body that isn't the same size as the default body, none of the accessories will fit, because the game assumes your body is the same size as the default body.
You'll need to alter or draw your own if you want to customize an all-in-one custom character sprite. If eg your PCC is taller than the default body, you could go into the pcc_eye_xxx.bmp you want to use and move them up however many pixels you need to make it look good. However, the eye files have brow ridge and skin tone in them, so depending on the skin tone or if the body sprite's face has a brow ridge you'll need to clip those areas out or redraw them. Either way you'd want to save it as new file.

If you really, REALLY know what the fuck you're doing, you could try "HxD Hex Editor."
Please make backups because you can royally fuck your shit up with that thing.
>>
>>17733469
I have hex editor. But i don't know format of save files, and don't know hot to get offset knowing index in array. After game saved it with something like:

#uselib "z.hpi"
#func zWrite "_zWrite@16" var, int, int, int
,,,,
file += "knpc.s1"
zWrite npcmemory, hgz, fsize

What the hell is that "z.hpi"? How it stores array in binary? No idea.

I had a few thoughts. Could a repeatedly killed Gwen be manipulated into killing the inner gods? The rate at which she levels is increased by her number of deaths. How often does she respawn anyway? And does her INI change as she levels?

So when Ano stops nerfing things and decides to do something useful what would you like to see worked on? I'd want the "under development" tobacco items to have some use aside from being a waste of space.
>>

More nerfs.
>/r/ new elona fork please.
>>
>>17734362
Only nerf I'm seeing is the small medal thing, explain.
>>
>>17734370
It was not a needed nerf, on the contrary.
It's YET ANOTHER nerf, there's nerf in every new version.
He never finish anything, keep introducing new shit he won't finish and can't into interesting AI or implementing translation, when it's already done for free in elona custom.
That's becoming annoying.
>>
>>17734218
The new updates so far have been quite predictable as of late:

- A bazillion new NPCs of a specific race.
- A new special action learnt by reaching level X with (skill) that deals (element) dependant damage based off (attribute) - (enemy attribute) that deals 1 turn of (status effect). Some new NPCs take advantage of this new action(s).
- An overhaul to a previous existing feature that no-one asked for.
- Nerf(s)
- Some small changes, usually minor but are still nice to have.

My main gripe is as people such as >>17734387 says; old features that are partially introduced are forgotten and left unfinished. What happened to town management, tobacco, revamping old feats for new special actions (this really bugs me, as there's always a new SA not gained from a feat), werewolves, quests for the God NPCs in Lost Irva, pet evos for talon soldier and fin croc, etc. Ano's focusing too much on "look, new NPCs and actions" as well as revamping old mechanics that have been here for years for no reason (granted, some aren't that bad such as save-scumming overhaul and the new farming schedule, but were they really necessary?) rather than implementing an actual new feature that's complete and interesting, such as the town management.
>>
>>17734387
What do you mean with interesting AI? I think making enemies behave smarter would just irritate players for slowing them down, making them avoid said enemies entirely.
>>
>>17734387
Calm your tits drama queen. The changes aren't that bad.
>>
>>17734550
Yeah. Actually there are barely any noteworthy changes at all, I see little to no reason to update.
I really don't get the small medal change btw, it's not like they were that abundant
>>
>>17734575
Sounds like they'll get much more abundant after the change.
It'll depend on whether they'll get garranted past some danger level.
>>
>>17734605
It says that you'll get 1 if the danger level is over 50, 1 if nefia fever is on and 1 if it's an awakened dungeon.
>>
>>17734575
The change to small medals sounds like you're practically guaranteed at least one medal if you do a high enough level dungeon. Sounds like an incentive to get people to stop keeping dungeon levels low. Fever mode and awakened add 2 more to the count so you can get up to 3 which was the highest amount you could get before. If at all anything the silver lining is that you might not have to worry about the boss dropping no medals if the dungeon is high enough level. On the surface it sounds like a push to get people to strive for doing higher level dungeons and taking advantage of fever mode and awakened dungeons when they have access to them. It's also a backhand slap to save scummers that would save before killing the boss and just reload until the boss kill shows 3 medals.

A new Elona fork might be a little excessive. Only a little and only a possibility of being so. I'm trying to be optimistic about the way Elona is going but this is getting ridiculous.

Is there any way to have a mod that works with of Elona+ that also works with custom? You know, to set right what went wrong. Or will be "under development" forever.

The small medal change really doesn't matter since you can just purchase treasure maps from the vendors at the Jure festival or the one at Larna.
>>
>>17734781
Wait a minute. Are you asking me? I got no idea.

If it is a simple matter then it's as good as done. We just need programmers, ideas, and a name to act as a "screw you" to Ano for making it necessary. Unlikely but a man can dream right?

Ok anon, what exactly do you hate about how Ano has done to the game? Overall the game has been getting better not worse imo from playing all the way back from vanilla Elona.

I think It's much more important to improve old features before adding new ones. Espically if you want to add new more complex features.
I would really like an overhaul for performing, ranches and more seasonal events.
Town management is something I look forward to, since it likely will be a more complex feature, but improving old things comes first.

Changed font size to correct size and added black border around text. I did this by drawing the same string in black 1px up, left, down, and right of the actual text I want to draw. Originally I was drawing to the screen buffer 5 times per frame but I decided that was retarded and now it saves all 5 text draws onto a new sprite and draws that once per frame. I spent like 2 hours trying to figure out why the label was blank because I didn't think about how changing to a different render target would put the previous coordinates way off screen. I don't know if I should be proud of what I accomplish or ashamed of how little I have accomplished.
Tomorrow I will work on writing an algorithm to tile the menu panel to any size that doesn't make the edges and corners look like shit.

Any clue as to how town management was supposed to work? Towns pay you tribute for being famous or something?

>>17734746
How are new players supposed to deal with shit-flinging stealth pumpkins now? I mean, I didn't know about the helmet until after I had found something else that let me see stealth, but really that's the game's fault for not ever telling the player that Miral and Garok's workshop exists and is the place to spend small medals.
>>17735406
the entire shop system is broken, I think the fix is either:
a) no more specialty shops, shops are only a little better than vendor dumping with max negotiation but pay off in scale
b) shops have a large markup, but the type cannot be changed and the shop fame is bound to the shop instead of the player
>>
>>17735571
>How are new players supposed to deal with shit-flinging stealth pumpkins now?
the gold medals found in towns are enough for that.
i found gold medals by myself before looking for it in the wiki.
>>
>>17735571
I imagine it's like the time when the internet didn't exist and players just stumbled upon things themselves or experimented to find things out. Aside from the god reward items that let you see invisible stuff, invisible enemies that are wet become visible. You can make a puddle and try to get said enemy to go over it. magic storm and the like probably can hit them despite being invisible. Also you can still farm hidden small medals in town and buy yourself the sage helm if you really need it without ever setting foot in a dungeon.
>>
>>17735387
> new characters get boned.
There are far more than enough medals hidden in the cities to get 1 or 2 items. I don't think characters below lvl 25 should swim in medals.

>How are new players supposed to deal with shit-flinging stealth pumpkins now?
Exile pet, Yacatec weapon, or you can get the medals hidden in the cities. You can also just hope to find them or use ball spells to search a wider area.
>>
The small medal change is a hige nerf to late-game, since instead of an average 2 medals per dungeon you get only one
>>
>>17735646
A late game character can just buy treasure maps and get the medals that way. Much faster than dungeons. There's also the Wizard Harvest spell. Also easy to farm if you have enough high level magic vendors.
Heck I am still in the first act and have 100+ medals, and the only thing that is interesting is the potion and the material kit reroll, and I didn't even gather the hidden medals.
>>
>>17735646
>one
Late game you'll always get two, three if fever.
>>
>>17735689
Why two?

Does't it guarantee only 1 medal?
2 if awakened, 3 with fewer and awakened.

The black gem has significant CD, so using it on every dungeon seems unreliable. Am i missing something?
>>
Why exactly are medals so important to late game? Material kits? Early on you want to get the Sage's Helm ASAP, but other than that the workshop stuff seems good but not essential.
>>
>>17735737
Hermes blood.

What is the most reliable way of getting spammable amounts of treasure maps?
>>
>>17735760
Either Larna if you have lots of time or Jure Festival. Am still Act 1 but I got around 30 maps last Jure Festival.
>>
>>17735760
It's 250k per map. So you need around ~10mil gp to buy all the maps, you also want the good material kits(~60k) the vendors have.

Sure, that's exactly what i did couple of threads ago. With my(pic) mod.
E+C provides perfectly commented source with all changes. I just added my additions, and recompiled it again. Piece of cake.

But personally i'm not that good to actually fork Elona. And it's not only about ideas(which i don't really have), even in HSP skills i'm very far from someone like AnnaBannana, with her nice code. (Lack of such skills limiting me to what i've see somewhere else in code, since i don't know standart library and have no idea how to, let's say, round variable. Without n * 10 / 10 trick. And simular stuff.)

I don't mind overhauling old stuff, especially performing as you mentioned. In fact, I find that Ano's recent "overhauls" of old features have been pretty decent imo. My issue comes from him starting to implement stuff, then leaving it half-finished for ages. It's just bad design, you get people asking "what does X do?" or "what is Y" and we have to reply that it does nothing.

>>
>>17735950
Ano puts a great effort into making new features.

The main reason people get unhappy with updates isn't the fact that some features get outdated or forgotten for ages, but the fact that he nerfs the most effective grinding strategies.

Shops give hubdreds of millions gold pieces? Gone.

Party time gives 10k+ tickets due to spirits? Gone.

Speedrunning dungeons gives consisten supply of small medals? Not gone, but nerfed substantually.

Etc.

There were many more strategies that got nerfed, ofc.

There're many more that are still viable.

And new ones emerge every patch.

People just hate that their "smart" strat eventually gets fixed and nerfed to the ground, that's why they're mad.
>>
>>17736087
Not all of us unhappy about nerfs.
But i am very frustrated by unfunctional deck, for example. How many years it will take untill we'll get something like Tetra Master or Triple Triad. Is it really *that* hard? No, it's not.
>>
>>17736087
I'm aware. I wasn't bashing the nerfs. In fact, most "nerfs" such as crafting I'm totally OK with. It's the half-unimplemented stuff that bothers me. Why add in a bunch of items/menus that do nothing at the moment and then never get around to finishing it?

The way feats are being handled also bothers me personally. A while ago, he planned to replace all the useless skill feats with new ones that mainly add new special actions. Cool, great idea! But not only has he stopped doing that for the time being, he's still adding new SA gained from skills that could've worked with the feat overhauls. Blood stream being a big example; you initially learn blood stream, then at a certain level you can get bound in blood. This way you can RP as a blood mage as well as the perform same-race shenanigans without limiting yourself to one of four choices in pets/race options. I don't hate Ano, I think he's still doing a great job after all these years, but these minor hiccups really bother me.

I do concede, the predator class in vanilla Elona was a monster-only class, and thus term "predator" makes sense as they are wild animals. But in E+ it's no longer true; the predator class both means wild monster and martial artists/monk. So really, both sides are correct.

Gardening is the easiest way to stay alive and grow stronger, though. Being dead isn't that cool either (depending of your preferences, I guess). Why would anyone pick tele? Waste of a feat. The game literally drowns you in rods of tele. Damn near everything rewards them inclduing giving them to people asking for them. The best starting feat is gardening. Since he's not doing that, its sleeping touch. If he plans to go solo because of lone wolf its the 20% speed boost.

By the time you can reliably get a secret of Kuro, all the starting active feats are no longer worth using. By the time you can do a single quest, teleport is no longer worth using.
>>
>>17737365
You do realize there are feats you get by level-up too right?
The very start is your most vulnerable, thus teleport is useful.
>>
>>17737403
I believe he knows that, considering that he mentioned "starting".
But I agree that there is no problem in picking teleport feat early. Early levels are tough, and they are all about survival, especially in loss mode. Things like Exorcist and Dimensional Move will lose their usefulness as you progress, but you won't be drowning in anything useful (or even useless) for a long time, so they are life savers in low levels.
And it's not like you won't be "drowning" in feat points eventually, anyway. Picking feats that will immediately help you are a lot more useful than preparing yourself for things that you won't access/deal with immediately.
>>
>>17737319
Tele is good for early game, and also really great for pets since it's easy to plug into their AI and they have infinite stamina.

My healing and meditation randomly stopped training even if I had not full HP/MP and potentials were high. vThen they suddenly skyrocketed 5-10 levels.

Why? No idea. Perhaps some weird truncation in game code, or whatever.

Just keep going, eventually skills will start training again.

The blood abilities being tied to a feat would have been great. Both sound like abilities gained later though. Maybe an immediately gained ability could be a constitution and healing based heal that causes bleeding? Ah someone can think of something better than my idea.

Actually come to think of it the drain blood feat might have a cool use for the enemy blood drop. A stamina and health recovery based off the value of the base value of the blood. Sound good to anybody?

Or maybe a feat added in later that grants permanent invisibility detection and unlocks a special action much later grants a feat that gives a few turns of a sense object like effect. You know, so you can shoot through smoke and maybe use certain special actions through walls.

The more I think about it the more I want to manage a town. Or maybe even put a little work and make an abandoned ranch into a makeshift town.

Nothing I said here will be seen by Ano. Oh well.

Not much really changes with 1.72. To be honest, the game has made it easier to get to 2000 speed. On my previous character, the only options I had to get to 2000 speed were just feats, AP and Hermes Blood. On my current character I was able to raise my speed through a combination of feats, AP, speed uppers, and Hermes Blood. The introduction of speed uppers in particular made it easier for me to reach 2000. Don't get me wrong though, getting to 2000 speed is going to take awhile but it did get easier. At any rate, speed uppers increase your speed by 1 but more importantly just one speed upper restores speed potential to 400/max potential. Due to that I was able to not only get a nice +1 speed bonus from the potion but now my herbs could help me level up speed. So this time around on my current character I made more use of speed uppers/herbs to raise my speed than I did Hermes Blood. Whenever I could afford a Hermes Blood I would definitely purchase one but they were a delicacy for me. I didn't exactly depend on them.

Speed uppers are pretty easy to get. Later on you'll encounter them in dungeons every now and then but my main source of getting them was from Stoke for 8000 music tickets. Truth be told, I sometimes felt like I could farm speed upper potions quicker than Hermes Blood. Especially once you're making 2k+ music tickets using fascination dance at party time quests. If I had to do it over again, as I said in the beginning, not much would change. Act 1 is merely increasing my speed through feats. Act 2 is when I seriously begin working on my speed using AP, small medal dungeon farming, and party time quests. By the time you get to Act 2 you should be able to do lv 50+ dungeons. so the small medal thing shouldn't be a problem. Get your herb farms going as well. By aggressively boosting your speed through AP and later on using speed uppers with herbs you will eventually get to 2000. Every now and then you can purchase Hermes Blood for a bit of a boost.

Now that I think about it, the change could actually be a boon if the black gems don't share a timer. If that's the case, maybe one could make multiple copies and in doing so would be gaining more small medals after this patch than before. At any rate, I'm at least happy I'm assured one small medal considering in the past you could get zero small medals regardless of dungeon danger levels if RNG hated you.

As for pets and their strength. They've always been weaker than me. It's true that pets experience better growth rates with attributes but on the flip side I could grind my character's skills two times faster than my pets . While attributes can help damage numbers the real power is in skill levels. So due to that, I was always doing more damage than them. Due to this, I usually had to play support to see to it that they got to kill things for level up and skills. The gap in power only became wider once I was able to cast wish.

For the Jure pillow you either have to do what you suggested or if you're far enough in act 3 you can visit Manytia and purchase the pillow for gold. So losing the pillow isn't a big deal. If you have enough gold you certainly can buy as many pillows as you want to fill your room.
>>
>>17739798
>you can visit Manytia and purchase the pillow for gold
I thought all she did was sell you a key along with some junk items? Is the wiki missing something?

Wiki probably needs updating but yeah she can sell the pillow. She also is the one that sells Mani's alarm clock as well. So far the only options that works for her are Jure and Mani. That thing has like 3x the speed you can get via AP in chapter 2. It's not possible for me to match it stat-for-stat, but I don't think that's necessary to beat it. That's why I asked the question in the first place. About how strong do you need to be in general?
>>
>>17741340
>>17741358
Around ~100 CHA and Negotiation, I guess. Charisma will attract more people (possibly rich people), negotiation will give you more cash per sale.
You also need a good source of trash to sell. Equipment items that aren't godly stuff or panties/sox will have pretty low prices most of the time, especially if your pet have low negotiation, but you can easily get a large amount of them just by doing a few dungeon runs. This will give you a good source of shop/charisma/negotiation EXP, at least.
Later you should probably get a ranch and a barbecue set, and improve your Cooking and Anatomy skills. Meat from livestock and random enemies (especially fat ones) can be sold for very good prices, especially if you get lots of high rank cooked food with your barbecue set and high cooking skill. I remember that one anon posted an interesting idea, selling aphrodisiac jerky be mixing raw meat with love potions and turning each piece into 5 jerkies, but I haven't tried it yet.

>>17741687
Just keep going. Things won't get better immediately, might as well start working on it now.
At worst, at 120 sales experience (not negotiation/charisma), your pet will be able to learn a shop-exclusive feat. One of them is Proprietary Sales, that adds an independent daily gold income to your shop, affected only by your pet's negotiation level (you will get cash even if there is nothing to sell on your shop). You will at least get some gold from your shop even if you forget to restock it.
As a tip, when you get more money and start to invest on NPC shops (to unlock new items on their stock), don't forget to bring your shopkeeper pet with you. If you and your pet have the Investing skill and use the "Invest 50" option, both of you will be getting tons of levels in Investing and Charisma per investment. Eating Putitoro (increases LER/CHA EXP gain, crafted with pot of fusion) before investing helps a lot too.
>>
>>17741785
i see, shop feats.
i guess i should specialize my shop to one type of items instead of cluttering it with junk, and sell the rest to vendors.
>>
>>17741863
Specialized shop still can sell anything at full price(it'll just take more time), so there is not much sense in limiting it when you have some other goods and room in shop.
>>
>>17741863
Specialized shops will increase the price of specific item types. You still can put any item on your shop, but items unrelated to your shop's specialization will often be ignored by potential costumers (and sold at normal prices).

Status immunity is pretty important too. Float is nice for the player, but it is just as important as a status immunity for pets (simple way to stop them from swimming in acid puddles).
Protections (mutation, thieves, aliens, etc) are useful for certain enemies, and for wish hunting in wells/fountains/toilets. Most of the time you won't really need them, but they can make annoying things a lot less annoying.
Maintain [stat] (protection against stat reduction curses) is nice, but it's not a priority.
There is also all the "neato stuff" attributes like critical hit bonus, extra attacks, assist weapon (proximity, interlocking), invokes (time stop, lulwy trick, other buffs are kinda meh), counter (deals X damage to X attacker), etc. But they are quite rare outside of static artifacts like Assault Gold.

>That is amazing for all the wrong reasons.
I got them from the Jure Festival, had luck with the vendors.

I also thought that the easiest way to get money in act 1 was with cargo so I walked for multiple years in the snowy region without sleep for the bronze coins.
Later I realized that the easiest way to get gain attribute scrolls is your salary, and I need them since I will not use genetic engineering on my waifu, then far later when I had money I just checked the Jure festivals for the maps.
Am already year 593 and still not far into the main quest in act 1.

>There is also all the "neato stuff" attributes
I found quite a bit of the neato stuff, especially lots of gear with crit #####+, does crit+ stack, and is decreases enemy crit good?
>>
>>17742998
>>17743007
I agree with you guys on the attribute end. Pets definitely can grow faster than the player in that department. Skills though definitely not. At least, the raising of skills they don't get any special favors. I've capped several skills on my character yet I'm still waiting for at least one of my pets to cap a single skill. Luckily my dark elf is getting close to that at least. Pets are certainly lucky that they don't have to worry as much about spell casting failure and spell stock but their spell damage formula isn't as good as the player's though.
>>
To my knowledge its like

Positive: They get better gains from food, herbs, AP, abilities you can't access that are just better than what you can like the double buff and mp restore in one, faster gauge gain (they can turn on a core item then almost instantly hit an enemy with a gauge attack its ridic), unique broken flags like the metal one, no casting penalty ever at all even once

Negative: Can't into degenerate grinding gameplay very good

The latter reason is why I also am stronger than my pet. My 1 (one(singular(not plural) pet whom is my daughter and is the best pet. She simply can't hit as hard as me
>>
>>17743161
Who need spells, when pets can spam shadow step?
>>
>>17743210
RResists. Unless you go through the trouble of grinding the spells and gear you'll out do them when sheer force isn't enough.
>>
>>17743210
I guess it depends on your party makeup. Like my character slings spells pretty well despite being mainly a melee guy. Since I felt like I could do spell damage better than my pet I converted my witch into a healer so I don't have to worry as much about my pet's HP. I could also have her learn some debuffs like element scar or mist of frailness to help me out and my other melee pets. So I somehow still found a use for a spellcasting pet. I also guess in certain circumstances a mage pet focused on damage is still a decent pick. Like if you run with a bunch of pets and need someone to actually fire into the crowd instead of try to nab a finite melee spot which is probably occupied by other pets. But yeah shadowstep pets are great.

Yes. Yes. Depends on your code of conduct. You could say that you're just going to go to Vernis and you'll immediately set your starting pet to stay at the town forever and never have any companions outside of quest ones like Poppy or you could say that you'll never use a pet for combat purposes and use them for things like the aforementioned shops.

When i'm returning from dungeon i'm identifiing whole inventory, reading blessed scroll of uncurse(for better stacking), and dividing all my earned loot between those 4 piles.
After that i'm setting specialization of shop to those goods, which pile is bigger. That's all.

How is the "throw potion" skill for pets? Worth it?
>>
>>17746223
My character is an archer. It's probably more to do with both being perfectly fine, you'll be equipping a melee weapon anyways, and whether you need to melee or just hold down F is also dependent on your pets if any. Also pretty much every character ends up as a hybrid just for the sake of training
>>

The problem is, I'm inexperienced with this custom AI, and she either throws that potion and does only that, or is confused by my commands.

target distance > 1 throw
target distance > 1 move(forward)
target distance = 1 attack(melee)

You can't set "OR", but you can achieve such behaviour by repeating same condition.
With this AI she will aproach in melee when she can't throw potion, due to low stamina(techinally it's not a stamina, since pets doesn't have it - but their limitations works alike).
>>
>>17746923
would she really move to line 2 of the script after excuting line 1? won't she just shoot over and over?

also, ranged attacks don't work at range>5, keep that in mind.
>>
>>17746934
Given the fatigue explanation afterward, I believe "throw" there meant "Throw Potion", not "Attack (Ranged)".
>>
>>17746945
what about throwing her panties?
>>
>>17746934
>ranged attacks don't work at range>5
That's only for shooting with ranged weapon(including panties). Maximum range for actions depends of particular action. But yeah, i don't know the range of throwing potion. Maybe it will require some more movements on top.
>>
>>17746948
For ranged pet something like that should work:
target distance > 1 throw potion
target distance > 5 move(forward)
target distance > 1 attack(ranged)
target distance = 1 move(away)

>>17746957

Magnums can only be used in pistols (the game is quite strict about what constitutes a pistol, the griffon dual pistols don't count), while bullets and energy cells can be used in any gun.

>>
>>17747376
You can update them yourself, and pretty much everyone creates their own custom one while doing so and thus nobody updates the bases for public use
>>
>>17747376
A single new monster update and the whole thing is considered outdated. But, like >>17747380 said, it's easy to update stuff on your own.
>compare custom image file with default one from the newest update
>put all new stuff on custom image file on the exact same spot

Most of the time character.bmp and item.bmp on graphic folder are the ones getting updates while everything else stays the same (with exceptions, interface.bmp got a small but relevant update recently, gotta pay attention to changelogs too), but the whole pack is considered "outdated" to avoid confusion (like a new player installing an outdated pack and having to deal with completely invisible enemies/items or broken interface elements).

Yah, that seems to be the general case. Whether it be your own ranches or monsters killed in dungeons. Things like dragon corpses or titan corpses sell for more after being cooked.

Although it seems that corpses from dungeon monsters have some sort of higher set base price than what you would get from lightweight ranch equivalents. A lot of dungeon corpses seems to always sell for 5,600 gold at rank 9, even if they only weight less than 1.0s

Meanwhile, corpses from ranches can sell for a lot less unless they weight a lot already. Still, they can sell for a good amount if you can pump out steaks regularly and rub/brush them for awhile to give them enhanced numbers

The weight of the NPC when it died is recorded in the meat. This is why meat of the same type and quality and weight will sometimes not stack

Invert and PV reduction are kind of lackluster. Maybe a ricochet targeting random enemies and a...alright maybe I only had one idea. Maybe an attack that forces multiple enemies into the optimal range and causes a few turns of wince.

Cooking is pretty great. The best part about creating multiple food items is the huge amount of picnic baskets you can get.
>>17748779
Wait what. So mix feed has a use beyond accidentally making your waifu fat?
>>
How much do I need to invest to the Embassy furniture shops before barbecue sets start showing up? I tried stealing one from Party Time quests but even teleporting NPCs away I tend to get caught.

It is called Livestock Feed for a reason.
>>
>>17748823
I saw one on a rank +200 goods shopkeeper, but maybe the actual rank requirement is lower than this.
You can find some barbecue sets in Melkawn's casino, that is how I got one.

eating bronze meal at inn give temp buff to training
being constantly burdened while having weight lifting skill helps
fighting using long swords and axes helps
eating meat helps

...or you can just invest 50 @ general/goods vendor and wait for the set to come.

Also, has anyone managed to force the game to run 1920x1080 without it getting stuck at the top half of your screen? I've only been using 720 since I couldn't get around the issue.

You're not thinking outside the box. For example, just make a stay-at-home waifu!

You can assign them to your home to tend to it, so that they greet you every time you return home. You can even use custom tone tiles to make them say whatever you want.

Give them gifts that you buy on your travels to slowly build up their affection for you naturally, then marry them eventually.

When you return home after a long day's work of murdering denizens of Tyris, perform sleep sharing with your waifu for your much needed comfort in bed.

Or just make them your shopkeeper.

Or call them just to ensemble with your and be your band partner during party time quests.

Or just make them pure healers/buffers/debuffers.
>>
>>17749566
or make a gene to inherit your good items and start another char that this time around goes solo
>>
>>17749452
What resolutions let you see the hidden tiles?
>>
>>17749574
Currently its set to 1152*800. Not exactly a standard resolution...

>Or just make them pure healers/buffers/debuffers
I'm dreaming to make such pet for a very long time. But it just doesn't works.
It's all about AP. Support can't earn them. Which means he will move a turtle speed, won't have fancy actions, and will be more often distract me(to keep him alive), rather than help.
And yes, yes. Tags. Tag cripple me. That's very bad attitude for support.
>>
>>17749594
take costum. you can teach your pet spells there.
>>
>>17749595
I have custom. But he won't earn AP by casting slow.
>>
>>17749594
Spell strength is only determined by casting for a pet, and since a support pet level almost exclusively casting, just teach it a damaging spell with "if target<10%hp then damage spell" and it'll gain AP.
Just remove the command for damage when enough AP have been earnt.
>>
>>17749660
>>17749660
Enough ap, huh. And when is enough? At 800 speed? I don't have so much even on my main character! So, essentially he will be just normal combat pet for pretty long time.
>>
>>17749672
It should be possible. I installed one of the mod npc packs and nabbed a pet called Eduet the tearful voice which does nothing but healing rain when I'm damaged. I also got one that does nothing but cheer.
>>
>>17749681
I can teach him actions, set AI to be support, even level him. Not a problem. But it won't give him AP.
Right now my character can reach 700 speed with all buffs. What the point in healer with 100 speed for me? Instead of getting aid i will be forced to heal him.

Someone like Kai probably could give him weapon\damage spell, pump him with AP in hour, and remove fighting from AI. Support built. But with my level i would stuck with combat pet(which i don't want) for unreasonable long time, since i don't swim in AP even personally.
That why i need support pet who steady grow with me, at our pace. And i don't see the way how to do it with support.
