Comiket 93 is now upon us.

CD Spreadsheet and DS thread soon to come.

Reminders:
>Include album art and some brief info if possible.
>If you have lossless, please share it. Lossy formats (especially meme ones like opus/ogg) just piss everyone off.
>Avoid pointless "thanks for this" type posts.
>>
I bought the new Lolistyle Gabbers from their Bandcamp, if there's no lossless version by the time it comes i'll put it up.

Yes. Kancolle music however is dead.

Yeah you're right, it was never a big thing to begin with. But I don't think it's really shrunk either. Probably seems even smaller than it really is to us here simply because not many buyfags follow these circles at all. Extend Rarelity, BubbleRecords and ばんだいく had new albums, MysteRhythm (formerly ESSENTIAL RECORDS) was planning one but didn't survive the lottery. Those are the only kancolle circles on my radar really. Well there's also ankorobox but he's been dead since C89.

ASTOST, RED, and SOWS (in that order) are the primary sources of self-rips.

The DS thread (and this thread) may have some too, but likely won't until everyone's CDs ship from the proxy buyer.

Nyaa/Tokyotosho may have some much later on, since Audio4U posts there. JPS/AB will probably scrap some leftovers from other sites.

Quoting from old post >>17876671

>You get "score" and "notes" for any upload.
>Notes are what is used to "pay" for other posts, so they're a limited resource, though realistically you shouldn't really run out once you start uploading stuff.
>
>For uploads (read: self rips) of albums released in the previous 3 months, you also get 2 extra points, called "love" and "contribution".
>
>There's basically 2 uses for points besides notes:
>1. They increase your "level", the higher your level, the more forum features you have access to. At a certain level you also get access to an extra section with more "exclusive" rips (in reality it's basically a dumping area for random CDs).
>2. Posts can be restricted so only people with x amount of point y can download it, so depending on how many of the various points you have, you might not be able to download certain user's rips.

The important one here is point 2, the majority of uploaders have some kind of restrictions on their uploads, so you can't just make an account, upload 1 or 2 albums and then leak everything. You basically have to invest in the community to get the best result out of it.
>>
>>18129118
Did that site have some kind of a pay-to-download features? I think I remember reading about something like that.
>>
>>18129220
Nope, ASTOST doesn't accept any payment/donations, there are a few other Chinese sites like that where you can donate to get status/points, so you're probably thinking of one of those.
>>
>>18129220
>>18129225
Though you might actually be thinking of ASTOST, a lot of people on /jp/ and other sites refer to it as "pay-to-download", but it's really a misnomer, you do have to "pay" to download, but it's in the sites own currency you get from uploading, not anything related to real money.

Do I really need to join a private tracker to get new doujin releases?
This thread and the DS one barely have anything, where on other years it'd be already full of stuff. Is everyone only uploading to private trackers?

I doubt RED will get many releases at least. What.cd was pretty much worthless for doujin music, and I don't see why RED would be any different.

But if any do show up there and not in public sources, I can reupload stuff at least.
>>
>>18133848
There is a growing doujin audience there. Check the previous Comiket collage (C92) for an example. It has at least a couple releases that I haven't seen anywhere else. There is a thread in the General Music forum about it too, with a decent number of replies.

It's not as popular of an area as on doujin-specific forums, but your stuff would definitely be appreciated there.
>>
>>18133979
>It has at least a couple releases that I haven't seen anywhere else.
Like what?
>>
>>18133418

Yes. The days of public uploads and feeding leeches are thankfullly coming to an end. We're not there yet, but your observations are indeed reflective of the current situation. That said, it's still quite early, so there will be public stuff put out in the coming months.

Or you can help us help you, by buying and contributing, thus giving yourself access to the rips of others in the collective group. Your choice.
>>
>>18133987
I haven't seen AACCIIDD anywhere else.
>>
Is doujin stuff banned on AB or something? It seems more fitting to upload them there than on RED.
>>
>>18133999
Uploading is not a zero-sum game, there is no reason to only upload it for a small group, and I say this as a long time member of several cabal trackers.
>>
>>18133999
>Yes. The days of public uploads and feeding leeches are thankfullly coming to an end. We're not there yet, but your observations are indeed reflective of the current situation.

>>
>>18134065
You can just upload doujin music for easy ratio on AB.

A lot of people stopped uploading music to AB since they stopped allowing scans in torrents.
>>
>>18134354
>stopped allowing scans in torrents
They did what?
>>
>Avoid pointless "thanks for this" type posts.
You want to know why people don't upload here anymore? This. Why would people give you free things when the simplest positive feedback isn't just not given, it's actively discouraged?
>>
>>18134377
It's less retarded than forbidding log and cue files in torrents like they do on bakabt. Because some people like to blow up the size of their torrents with their huge ass scans.
>>
>>18134529
12 30mb FLAC files vs like 10 1mb scans
are you retarded?
>>
>>18134547
If you have to mind your ratio it is within reason. Even though it would make more sense on trackers like RED since it's actually pretty easy to keep a good ratio on AB. They do have a point system after all.
>>
>>18129118
What happens if you share an album that's already been ripped by someone else? Do you have to keep finding obscure ass albums or be the fastest to get any points or notes?
>>
>>18134594
If they're different rips, it doesn't matter, there can be multiple rips of the same album uploaded and they will all get points. It's not a race to rip first like private trackers, you get points for contribution regardless of if you were first to rip or not.
>>
Does anyone even upload new ZYTOKINE albums? I can't find the links in any of the previous spreadsheets. I managed to get my hands on 50/50 but can't even remember where or how.
>>
Why are people so fucking possessive and exclusive about their rips? "REEEE donut steal my pirate copy!!!!!" The answer is ego but my point is that this is not helping anyone. I'm not going to import CDs from Japan because I can't find my shitty music in the DS thread. I'll just wait a couple of weeks and be pissed off about it. My life is being made more difficult by elitist cockmonglers and it makes me so MAD! I will never join a stupid secret cancer club.
>>
>>18134697
I don't think people on private trackers care much about it if you take their rips and decide to share them publicly. That's not the point of private trackers at all. It's not like you can keep people from doing it, anyway. But I guess someone like you who feels left out and has to lash out like this will never understand.
>>
>>18134443
This is old news. Years ago a few control-freak autists raised a massive shitfit over people saying thank you. Comiket virtually died here after that.
>>
>>18134547
You can easily find torrents with scans where every single scan is +20 MB. I recently downloaded one like that actually, I was quite surprised to see my 400+ MB album only contained 3 songs.
>>
>The new Shibiayan remix album has an air horn in it
So this is the death of music.

>>18134774

>implying that the act of buying one or two albums means you suddenly have the moral right to freely access every other album from the event ANY more than someone who didn't buy any
>being this retarded/delusional
There's some merit to the philosophy of being required to share stuff, but what happens when every single album is already uploaded thanks to your shitty little club inevitably growing after everyone refuses to upload them publicly?
Not to mention this growth would likely lead to a stupid cycle of people joining and then just uploading them publicly under VPN.
>>
>>18134903
e-peen
>>
>>18134697
The reason most of the "big" uploaders stopped posting rips publicly was because of sites like 9tensu and dojin.co taking their rips and putting them behind ad/paywalls, literally making real money off their rips. These are the people you should be mad at, not the rippers.
>>
>>18134922
>but what happens when every single album is already uploaded thanks to your shitty little club inevitably growing after everyone refuses to upload them publicly
There's no problem, multiple rips of the same album can be posted, sites like these reward contribution and quality, it's not like private trackers where it's a race to see who can post first.
>>
>>18134922
>>18134825
Yeah, but who are you quoting?
>>
>>18134065
No. But a person I know told me how he was going to stop uploading to AB because they require so much data there when you submit stuff even though you already have a good link for metadata.
>>
>>18134903
the most important points are probably that's safer than public trackers and availability. long term seeding is encouraged and keeps files alive longer than with DDL. even if the original uploader is gone there is a good chance someone else is seeding the files.
>>
>>18134934
What's the deal with dojew.co anyway?
Admin is so retarded, so i actually believe that he spend 150$ per months to host 5mb database. I don't think he earned anything from it.
>>
>>18134998
Judging by the unusable interface, I'd assume he is too retarded to even make money out of his website.
>>
>>18134998
>$150/month for something like dojin.co
The fuck.
I could see something like $8-10 a month if you want to go with some specific server package options and such but there's no way that site gets the number of hits or serves nearly enough data to warrant something that expensive.
And the registrar they got the domain from is only $25/year for a .co.
So I could see it running $125~/year, but per month would be absurd.

Not that it matters anymore at this point, honestly. dojin.co was a lot better when it was vermilion grey - and as far as public uploads/aggregation is concerned vk has been the most consistent the past few events.
>>
>>18135150
He posted pictures of his server bills when the whole "donation" drama stuff was happening, and it was around 150/m, basically everyone told him that was absurd but he ensured everyone that was the CHEAPEST he could run dojin.co for.
Definitely an idiot, or scamming people. Probably both.
>>
>>18135150

The guy that uploads everything on VK literally lives on donations (aka get a fucking job).
>>
>>18135150
I don't remember the numbers exactly, so i'm maybe a bit exaggerating with 150$/month, but it was something ridiculous.
He was burning CPU cycles with search and per-user feed customization or some shit. And the funny thing is that his shitcode didn't even work properly.
It was really something you would expect from web monkey.

Nowadays i think he "optimized" it a bit, so you don't have to download the whole 5mb database on the every page load.
>>
>>18129823

>>18134877
>God damn. Of all things, how do you get mad about people saying thank you? Who does that? And who listens to such people?
The point was that the threads were supposed to only include the file links, nothing else. The "thank you" was perceived as a veiled attempt to make teh threads hit the bump limit, leading to a clusterfuck of threads and the links quickly disappearing from the board.

That's correct and I was aware of that, but let's be honest - the average user doesn't look that stuff up. I understand why it's frustrating when you upload stuff, post the link and then quickly see it disappering into what is the digital nirvana for most users. While I also think it's bizarre and ustistic to quit uploading b/c people thank you, it was always stated that the thanking shouldn't be done, and defying that rule was read as "fuck you" and trolling. I think messing up the thread that way is even dumber than freakig out about it.

I understand the logic, but it's stupid logic. Why would you post links in a thread that's got nothing but links? Everyone who does something for someone else wants to be appreciated, at least a little.

>>18135513
Also this. Fuck, /vg/ figured this out, every general ever has figured this out, and if you're too thick or too 'chan illiterate to use archives...well, tough shit, lurk more.
>>
>>18135513
I don't know if 4chan's own archive was around and accessible back then, but the major issue was probably that the thanking deliberately defied the rule. As I said, it was understood as a "fuck you."
The genuinely autistic part of the user base has zero social skills and is used to mockery and bullying. Hence there is a tendency to misundertand even innocent actions as an attack, which then triggers the meltdown.
I was around that time and it was a shitshow, but I would put the majority of blame on those who violated the crytsal clear request of the uploaders to not thank them. If I remember correctly, it was even stated that these threads would be quitted if the "spamming" (thanking) continued. So it's not a wild guess to assume it was intentional sabotage.
>>
>>18135640
>Everyone who does something for someone else wants to be appreciated, at least a little.
If I remember correctly, it was a few people who handled the bulk of uploading and the OPs stated that no thanking should occur. It looked weird, but if they offer something for free, the best way to thank them would be to play by their rules and accept their whims.
And while I have said that there were probably practical reasons - like not having 5 upload threads around at the same time - the major reason why these people left was probably the provocative behavior of those who willfully defied them.
If there's an idiotic law which regulates the use of a good but that doesn't hurt you, and if teh sale of the good is stopped b/c people ignore that idiotic law, I'd still blame the "criminals", not the "lawmakers".
But these a minor details. It involved a great level of mental health issues on both sides.

Anyone seen Kicks For Liberation 6 floating around yet?
>>
The "no thanking" thing came about when the /jp/ threads split from just download threads to download and discussion threads.
They split because probably 75% of the download threads were just people talking about the albums or "thank you" posts to uploaders, causing threads to hit bump limit quicker than necessary.
In the new split download threads, there was a "no thanking" rule to keep spam away, and this rule was enforced by the janitor.
Quickly people starting trolling, resulting in hundreds of deleted "thank you" posts per thread, completely derailing any real discussion and annoying uploaders. It remains a /jp/ meme ever since, even though /jp/ Comiket threads have been dead for years.
>>
>>18135823
>Comiket threads have been dead for years.
Where do people go for Comiket discussions then, since the amount of foreigners attending has exploded in the past few years?
>>
>>18135839
Mostly private LINE groups with friends.
>>
>>18135844
This is an interesting turn of events actually. I just read a study on how the massive explosion in popularity of social media has caused more and more people to take all real discussion into small private groups in fear of their privacy being invaded etc. A shame really.
>>
>>18131434
Yeah drum and bass. The dubstep trend has been around since what, 2011? 2012?
>>
>>18135823
Thank you for pointing this out. I wasn't 100% sure whether it was trolling.

>>18135855
Many "real discussions" on soicla media have to happen in private groups because posts get reported for retarted "hate speech" violations or "bullying" if it's public. But even if you look at Twitter, research reveals that people always stay in a certain bubble and groups who disagree with each other actually do not engage in any genuine discussion.
>>
>>18135906
>I wasn't 100% sure whether it was trolling.
There was probably some legitimate posts somewhere in there, but it was mostly trolling.
Any upload would be responded to with "Thanks", then each of those posts would be responded to with "NO THANKING", those posts would be responded to with "Thanks for reminding me not to thank", ad infinitum.

conduct a blind test on yourself to see if you can really tell a difference between high quality lossy and lossless. I couldn't so I just run with mp3. Of course, if you're converting to other formats on the regular you need a lossless source but lossy should be fine for most people.

Nothing we do will change when this thread dies, you absolute mong. There's plenty of time left in it as well so creating a new thread was retarded. There's a reason why the DS page and the spreadsheet hadn't been posted by the way: the vast majority of people in the thread know where to fucking go without them and catering to the one or two who are too retarded to google is no reason to create a new thread before this one dies.

Dat aggressive clipping tho.
>>
>>18150752
It's just the spectrum. It's not real clipping like with wave forms. You wouldn't even hear the clipped off parts, because they're frequencies only little kids and bats hear.
>>
>>18150515
Are you still able to find an obviously distorted section with opus 1.2.1 though? I know they've been working hard on that, funnily enough your files might help them make it even better if there's still an obvious issue in the opus version.
>>
>>18150808
I know that, I'm just saying that clipping the top of the mix like that will most definitely affect the overall quality of the mix. You might not hear them, but these high frequencies contribute to the quality of instruments/synths.
>>
>>18150515
The fact that you think that being able to discern opus from FLAC with an electronic song means anything, shows how much you actually know about audio encodings. You are fucking retarded. I suggest you start educating yourself with opus on wikipedia.
>>
>>18150943
not if you can't hear them. it's not "aggressive" to remove data that is useless to the vast majority of people.

Ever heard of constructive and destructive interference? Removing relatively high amplitude components out of the mix will affect the tone of the instruments. By using a format which clips frequencies out of the mix, you're basically ruining the sound design the artist did.

From any event at all?
Doujin music is very niche at this point, anyone should have the freedom of doing whatever they want with their hauls.
I agree that cancerous sites like dojin.co shouldn't exist, they just take all the uploads from here and others good will of sharing and ask for donations, or private trackers using it to buffer their own ratio with someone else's release.

Reasons like these are why I don't share at all.
