She needs it. Her range is ass and her auto combo has a tendency to fail if you aren't right in their face. Even her grab range is worse than most of the cast. Plus maybe it's just me, but her damage isn't even that good either.

Joon has good damage, she just needs to work a lot to land all the hits that form her combos, if you're resourceful you can hit 3.1k in a corner
But her biggest problems are her pitiful reach, how little presence her bullets have, and her airdash covering very little ground, giving her awful mobility

3.1k doesn't seem that impressive in the corner. That sounds like something most characters can manage. But I don't know the average damage in this game.

The average damage is a bit higher than in ulil, I feel like 2.5k is a good number
But the heavy hitters and other fair characters can orbit around 3.2k for full combos and ~1.3k for out of position stuff, except for marisa, uncontested queen of shitconfirms, that turns any stray hit into 2k combos
So yes, 3.1k is good damage, especially considering joon's current state.
I honestly expect some overall damage reduction, maybe just a plain -% reduction to all characters

She seems better. She has top end damage and no spellcard declare during attacks doesn't hurt her much unlike some of the other characters. Got a brain wave special that replaces her teleport when she's not at neutral height too. She still has that weird issue where her damage is better midscreen than in the corner though.

To be fair, her midscreen damage is disgusting. She gets up to 4.2k no assists or spellcards with blue cape, even red cape gets 3.6k or so. Her corner damage is just a lot more normal because her big damage setups require her ring which doesn't work very well in the corner.

Or if you meant the missing AI spellcards in some story mode fights, that's because the game was rushed, I thought everyone knew this. And they already said they'll fix that in the next patch.

I wonder how big of an impact grabs will have. They seem nice in a lot of ways but the damage is low and this style of game is very high on mobility which makes them seem difficult to land.

Maybe I'm just a brainlet, but isn't Marisa really strong? It at least felt that way for me doing both story and lots of AI matches. She has almost infinite range on her attacks and always seems to able to attack the opponent no matter what angle they come from, the only negative she might have is that she doesn't do close quarters so well, which doesn't really feel that bad when you have so many ways of doing mid range high damage.
