Anyone else running low on reasonably priced stuff that they want to buy?

I just bought my first rifle for $250 on Tuesday. It's an Ishapore 2A1. I had gotten rifles prior to this one, but they were either given to me or inherited. This is my first one that I bought with my money. Pic related.

Just posted in the other thread but forgot the picture
Do you guys think this crack in the wrist makes is unsafe to shoot? I dont imagine 6.5 jap recoils that harshly but i wouldnt want to cause more damage. Theres another crack about 2 inches long going straight back from the trigger guard on the other side also.
>>

If you plan on shooting more than a box through it, I'd seriously look into getting it professionally fixed.

I'm talking about "Under $500" as I'm not truly a poorfag.

There's a few things on my list that fall easily under that, but most of what I'm looking for is getting more exotic (or more American) and so the prices are climbing. I suppose it's a good thing, because I'm out of space in my cabinet.

I'm going to stop by my local pawn shop after I go get Chinese today for lunch. They have a bubba'd Type 99 (I think) with the AA sights, mum, and an un-molested barrel. They have it at $125, but it's been there for at least 2 years, and me and my dad are pretty regular customers and visitors there, so I know I can talk down the price a bit. I can get some pictures of the serial numbers if you guys are curious.

Its unsafe /yet/

If allowed to continue to grow, this crack will eventually break the wrist completely. Hard recoil will break it little by little with each shot.
>>
>>35408855
Damn, so my options are hang it on the wall or find a competent gunsmith eh? I imagine a stock repair is going to run me as much as the rifle assuming anyone is willing to do it.
Wasnt there a guy last thread that said be could fix one of kapts stocks? Maybe il try and get in touch with him.
>>
>>35408870
I would definitely find a woodsmith who specializes in milsurp. Arisakas in particular don't take well to repairs with the Urushi finish (If yours has it, being that dark it might be one of the pre-urushis.

I have no doubt they could fix it, but if you've seen Mark's C&Rsenal video on repairing a stock, you can see they're fairly unforgiving on the the original finish for the sake of time(dolla dolla bills yall) and efficiency.

I also meant to say - "Its NOT unsafe, /yet/"

It certainly looks like a bad crack. It would be best for it to be professionally repaired. Mine had a small crack on the side from being dropped by the Thai soldier that carried it, but luckily it was small enough I could glue it up fine. You could maybe buy another stock for it and slap it on for shooting.

My Type 38 carbine has a crack in the wrist. Gunsmith said it would be $40 to pin it.

>>
>>35412211
I'm aware i don't have to to do normal maintence. But his is a bit para normal. The bottom metal is seized with punkwood, cosmoline, and surplus patina. It won't spring off, and my brass love taps have not worked.

I wanted to know /what/ that screw is for to see if it would help remove the bottom level.
>>
>>35412391
The screw is just holding on a cover over the bar that the magazine hooks into IIRC.

I would just get a dowel and stick it in the trigger guard and push it away from the stock. Maybe even tap the dowel with a hammer if it won't pop up.

>Turkish or Iranian.
The 10,000 new-made Turkish-contract Vz.98/22s have an "E" serial number prefix and the straight 3-line Brno crest, and have no Czech Army acceptance markings. However, early Czech Army Vz.98/22s didn't have any obvious acceptance marks either until mid B-block when the "Rampant Lion" was adopted as both a chamber firing proof and when accompanied with 2-digit year date as a final acceptance marking.

As far as I know Iran never purchased any Vz.98/22 rifles, just the 98/29 infantry rifle, Vz.24 short rifle and Vz.30 carbine.

For sure. I was originally planning on ordering a semi auto Uzi receiver, but you've apparently got to be 21 to get receivers so I bought this when I found it. I almost feel bad for the guy that sold it as consignment because he could've doubled the price and it would've sold still yet. Oh well. I'm happy with the deal I got on it.

Probably just gonna save up for the Uzi rifle from atlantic arms. It's $899. It seems to be decent enough quality and I just plan on putting a wood stock on it and sbr'ing it. I just want a PCC for home defense. I want to get a Browning High Power too. As well as a 1911 and a JRA M14 with 19.25" barrel and that'll just about do it for me until I find something I really want.

Have you considered the CZ Scorpion Evo? I know it's not retro styled but it's still a good choice for the same price and has some really good brace options. Lets say you you have a stock that looks like it was dipped in used motor oil before being coated in cosmoline. We're talking black as night coloration and leaves a grease stain on everything in the same safe.

What's the worst that could happen just pretending it's not a problem because muh history and muh patina?

Theres a hairline crack forming from the recoil lug and there is no way epoxy is going to stick to that shit but stripping the spot will leave one obvious clean spot.

I'm really conflicted

SVT, G43, Garand. Before I had ever owned one they really stood out as the next level but I seem to enjoy modern semis and older bolt action pre 1920 or so. I think I'm going to sell my SVT sadly.

Not that they aren't fun or collectible or what have you, I just rarely end up actually shooting them. I have a couple mausers I always being out. Suppose it's half the fun of guns is trying out different ones and honing in on what you like

My Remington Model 33 is the same (as are a lot of single shot .22s). What you're doing is pulling the striker off the sear and moving it to a fixed stop.

Can i get a list of fullsized semi auto milsurps. I can only think of 5 or 6.
Garand svt g43 fn49 and the swedish one ljuman?
>>
>>35428352
Odd but it literally makes the gun unfirable. You can drop it, pull the trigger as much as you want, you can smack it with a hammer all day and as long as the striker is back and rotated the rifle will not fire. Of course, it's a fucking bitch of a safety but it's a damn good one.

Ok im tracking. It seems like there was a very short time period where full sized rounds and semi auto were the peak of smallarms tech and only a few rifles capitalized on that. Theyre pretty neat being the transition between bolt guns and what is essentially modern military arms.

I know the sks isnt that much older than a lot of the guns i listed but in my head it seems much more modern than a garand or svt.

In order to get a permit just to BUY a rifle, you need to pay 101.50$, give your finger prints to state police AND FBI.
then, you need to fill out a form for every rifle you wish to purchase

This looks good enough to be an arsenal repair/modification. They most certainly would refinish it since they didn't care what collectors thought about them doing routine maintenance.

Can't really hold it against them, its not like bubba came in with a polyurethane can.

I think you're being too harsh on the poor thing. You make it sound like someone stripped an arisaka.
