Also what do you all suggest for 5.56/.223 for HD use.

Depends on the defense method. Are we talking "im buying 1000 rounds for <insert apocalypse here>" or are you looking for a mag full of bump in the night ammo?

Lewd.

There is a problem with your front sight, rear sight, rail, or upper
>>
>>35409414
No it is not normal. Somewhere you have an alignment issue. Is it a free float handguard? If so which one? What sights are you using? Who kade the upper receiver? Brands and models if you have it will help.

This. Maybe a couple hundreds rounds or something so I can make sure they behave well in my gun and a little range sighting and fun to get used to them.

Given the ridiculous price they are putting on their A1 repros, I would argue they have nothing of worth currently. Troy is taking over the 70s-90s AR larp game. Even their 727ish, "Black Hawk Down" AR is decent for the price. They can go fuck themselves with that Mk12 repro though.

I was looking to invest into an AR soon. I was going to purchase lower receiver from Tennesse Arms because its $130 for a FDE colored one. I was then going to build the upper receiver from AR15Parts.com for about $500 in FDE and basic parts.

Anything else someone would recommend? Would be first time AR owner here.
>>
>>35411895
You're aware the TN arms one is a polymer lower, right? It's supposedly one of the better ones, but its still polymer and more prone to breaking.

You can probably build an aluminum lower for a similar amount of money, and if you really need FDE, you can spray paint it or save up and eventually cerakote it.
>>
>>35411895
Until Polymer Lowes are $10 a piece they still won't be worth the tiny savings compared to an aluminum lower. It's like a $15 different.
>>
How do you distinguish AR-15's and what are the models most people are posting? Whenever I google AR-15 it pops up M16/M4 pics and the shit you post looks like M15 although I know fuck about that rifle.

That's kind of a hard question to answer
The differences between civilian owned AR pattern rifles are going to be based off of the manufacturer and their own versions of the various parts of the rifle. Like "oh that's probably a daniel Defence Rifle because it has their style of grip, stock, and handguard" but given you can combine parts from multiple manufacturers that only works for prebuilt, off the shelf rifles. My AR for instance is made from parts from at least 8 different companies
>>
>>35411950
Think of it this way

The AR15 is the category of rifle.

The M4/M16/Mk18/Mk12 are just specific military setups of AR15s.

What we post on here are all AR15s, but none of what we have (for the most part) are M4s/M16s because (most of us) don't have the actual government issued rifles.

My rifle is an AR15, for example.
>>
>>35411950
Colt is the only company that can actually sell the AR-15 on the civilian market, everything else is basically a clone.
M16 and M4 are military designations.

Aren't you able to buy an semi-auto only M16/M4 though? I've seen that people mostly use M16A1's and A2's for the job, because the milspec A4's are around $2000.
>>
>>35412058
You can build/buy something that is basically identical to a military issue M4/M16.

These are called clones and are basically the same minus full auto accommodations.
>>
>>35412024
I'm aware of that, I'm talking about civilian sales, FN civvie guns are non-tdp garbage, not even made by the same people.

>>35412075
What perplexes me is the type of handguard that everybody seems to be using. It's vastly different from the military rifles and probably the detail that makes their look specific the most. What's so special about them and why doesn't anybody use the traditional oval M16 handguard?

The original handguard has two flaws
It is anchored at the rear to the receiver, but also at the front to the front sight block. This means pressure on the handguard will push the barrel in that direction will alter the point of impact. This is remedied by using a handguard that only anchors at the rear to the receiver. Second, the original handguard does not enable the user to attach accessories easily. This is remedied by the multiple attachment methods available on other handguards.

Psi BTFO! URX 4 then. BCM is just a uglier clone of URX 4 (look it up). There is a new mk2 on EE for like $230.

Wedge lock can be also a choice, is one of a hand full of 7075 rails on the market. Except they made it too perfect, it’s boring.

is there is a best entry level AR? or just better to customize and build my own from a stripped lower and barreled upper? if so, which barreled upper?

Not as bad but so many rails have that bulge at the rear. I do like it better than most, though. It's not a big deal. Much better than that other version.

There are not really definitive handguard torture tests done. The mounting system of it is anti rotation, and the wedge lock system means having to deform hardened tool steel to fuck with the mounting.

>>35414523
The KAC one piece is slick, but its not the strongest

Holographic sights like Eotechs have crisp presentation to people with astigmatism where red dots can often bloom out and distort the shape.

Or you could go with a variable 1-6x with a non-illuminated duplex
