Amarillo here ya'll.
>>35463549Anyone interested in meeting up for a Dallas/Ft. Worth area shoot?
How do I learn how to care for and ride a horse? Like specifically training, is it difficult to do if you didn't grow up around it? I live in Michigan and I'd like to get a horse to ride on trails and take hunting with me but hardly anybody around here even knows how to mount one, let alone raise one. I figure Lone Starfags would know
>>35463843I used to ride/care for them as a kid.Riding a horse is sort of like riding a bike in that, you have to put in effort learning and getting used to it. But once you learn it is something you'll never "un-learn". The best way to learn is to just go ride with someone who knows how. The basics are pretty simple. As for learning to care for one it depends. If you want to keep it on your property and care for it alone, get ready for a major commitment. You have to get up early and feed it. You live in Michigan? Be ready to spend hours breaking up ice in the winter so it can drink. You have to exercise it. Taking it to get shoed etc.But you may enjoy it. Horses are better than dogs, honestly. You probably don't want to buy a younger horse as your first though. You have to wait until they are around 8-12 years old before you start riding them a whole lot. They may look fully grown by age 5 or so, but their muscles and bones are still forming. And if you ride them when they are too young, it can mess them up for life. That's why older race horses (who they start riding REALLY early) have tons of joint issues.SO!If you get one, get an older horse who is in good health as your first. Make sure he was not a former race horse or that he was not worked really hard when it was young.Don't get one as your first who is "intact". You want them fixed. And make sure you have time to devote to it. You can't just ignore a horse once you get one. They will get really unhealthy and start misbehaving.AND if you want to take him hunting...oh boy. Have fun breaking him of gun shyness. I would save that for your second, and younger horse once you learn to care for them.
>>35463929Thanks, that helps. Any recommendations on what kind of horse to get first? Both breed and gender wise. I know there's lots of different types of horses. Colts, mustangs, geldings, mares, stuff like that. I don't quite know the difference between them except that people tell me that a mustang takes a very experienced rider to handle. And as far as breeds go, are there any breeds that are good trail horses and also strong enough to carry a lot of pack and stuff?Caring for them won't be an issue for me. I already have hunting dogs and I'm a falconer, so I'm used to devoting hours of my day to caring for them

>>35463975A Colt is a young male horse. It can mean he still has his balls. But people still use the term to describe young males in general. So you want to know if he is "Gelded" or neutered.Female horses are called Mares. Young ones are called Fillies. Usualy females are NOT fixed. As your first horse sex matters little. But I would honestly say find a Mare. Older Geldings are fine too. But older female horses for whatever reason just tend to behave better. Younger horses of either sex will have the potential to be high strung or stubborn. Males tend to keep that with them, if they had it as Colts. As for breedHonestly take what you can get. If you're looking at older horses, breed matters less. But you do want to make sure that due to breed, they were not worked really hard. For example, any Clidesdale you find will have almost for sure been worked pretty hard. I'm not very good with breeds but the few I know of aren't really important. Mustangs are technically still "wild" to some degree. It refers (in my experience) to a wild horse who has been "Broken" (i.e he will accept you as a rider) or Foals who came from wild horses and who have been raised and partially domesticated. Ysually though, Mustang just means a horse who is not fully domesticated. But if I had to reccomend a breed, I would say go for an American Quarterhorse (they're medium height, muscular, not very fast but have good endurance and a lot of strength. The "Harley' if you will, of the Horse world.)Appaloosas are nice (well mannered, lankier and smaller overall. But still strong. They come with cool patterns in their coat.)Pinto horses (sometimes called "Painted" horses.) They vary. But most are short, and stalky.

All hat no bull - the statedespite beign fuck huge. almost no public land exists to shoot on. finding an outdoor range that isn't retard fudd central is difficult.
>>35464330You can shoot on State and Federal land. You can also buy your own land for cheap, and shoot on it. Or stop being an autistic sperg, and make friends with people who have land.
>>35463797Yeah, not much there, but then again, I was just passing through.
>>35463931>>35464222I am 817 as well. When:I can do 21st, 22nd, and 28th,29th.Where:I am thinking TDSA, at Ferris Texas, the same place Colion Noir shoots.I am a member there. At TDSA, it is kind of a 'practical shooting' range with no range officers, just a couple guys around in the main office, and there are security cameras. We really need to look out for each other's safety, and we have to presume everyone who shows up will behave and knows firearm safety...DESU, we should meet up and get to know each other before we shoot. Are you guys free to meet up for the Ft.Worth gun show on 10/21 and 10/22?We can get to know each other before we go shoot.
>>35463823I her tu.
>>35463836>>35463931>>35464222214 op op Yo, God I hate Dallas when it comes to finding a decent outdoor range, but holy shit the monthly Gun Shows are real fukin neat-O. I miss San Angelo since I was on a ranch 8 miles out of town...
>>35464382Oh shit bruh. We probably already know eachother.
>>35464402I am 817 as well.We should meet up and get to know each other before we shoot. Are you guys free to meet up for the Ft.Worth gun show on 10/21 and 10/22?We can get to know each other before we go shoot. We can meet up and go to TDSA, which is a 'practical range'.When:I can do 21st, 22nd, and 28th,29th.Where:I am thinking TDSA, at Ferris Texas, the same place Colion Noir shoots.I am a member there. At the 25 yard rifle/pistol/shotgun bay (only birdshot) :We can shoot and move, rapid fire, and basically anything we would want.We can shoot objects, but no glass or anything that will bounce around. There's cylindrical water tanks where we can set up obstacles. At the long range bay (25/50/100/200/300 yards):Must shoot benched on the table, or prone, nothing else.Me, as a member, have to witness my 'guests(You)' be able to shoot 'decently' at 100 yards. Doesn't matter if iron only, or with magnified optic. No tracers. It should be fun :D
any body from 713 or 281 on here? If so any recommendations for a good range my go to of van road is still fucked up after Harvey.
>>35464381>>35464402I am down for a gun show meet and greet. I don't think I have shot at tdsa before, could be fun.My preferred ranges are tacpro in mingus (comfy get away usually not packed relaxed environment. Members can shoot up to 500 yards, but you have to qualify to shoot 1000 yards to a mile), defender outdoor in Fort Worth (which is an odd name because it's an indoor range), American sportsman shooting center in grapevine (neato place that you can shoot at a movie screen. Great for practicing on moving targets)
>>35464518Do you have an email I can contact you with?I am too lazy to create another email...Also, this is a short video of TDSA.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJx3aVkbyQEDon't mind the area with the golf cart tho, we can't access that area since those are for tactical classes only.
>>35464637So what's the entry price? And damn, that place looks nice but 1hr away rip
>>email@example.comAnd I think I watched a 3gun at that place now that I watched that video.
>>35464706There is no entry price for guests on their 1st visit, but after that will be $20 per day.It is a bit far, 50mins for me, but IMHO it is worth the drive.
>>35464720So are we using this email >>35464713 to contact?
>>35464742It's just a burner email I made right now. I am just down to go shoot with some /k/ommandos again. I haven't been shooting in months.

Maybe we can use it on california one day when we secede.
>>35471364Math is heavily required for schooling. But once you're actually in, it's used a whole lot less. Programs typically get everything done for you but it's important to know how they're doing it. Certainly makes things easier on yourself. You could always work security at PanTex. Most of my range buddies do this. You basically patrol around in humvees and be bored out of your mind all day.>mfw my friends would bring their PSP's back in the day and all play SOCOM 2 while on guard dutykek Also looks damn good if you want to go be a LEO. >>35471617>>35471607I see it more as a carrer path if I fail in the political world.Plus if I end the prohibition on narcotics my job gets 500 billion times easier and I get to be the friendly neighbor hood cop that shoots some hoops and makes sure you get home safe.>Ive only toked 4-5 timesI was a daily user for all of this summer, I use it as self medication as well as recreationally. Its a merical drug for me. Stabilizes my mood, fixes my insomnia and normalizes my eating disorder. Also it just fixes fucking everything, shitty day? Bam. Fixed, heartbroken? Fixed. And its not dangerous or addictive.>the gameYeah dude, I think my older cousins gave it to me and it was my 24/7 go to. How long is Texas going to exist? What with the cities expanding constantly and their inhabitants having, shall we say, "anti-Texan ideals", I just don't think that Texas as we think of it, will last another 50 years. Maybe much less.
