Old cheapie gunsho Chinese rings used to come with a thin grippy tape on the contact surfaces. The intent was that it would kinda shield your scope from scratches from directly contacting the shit machining and help prevent scope movement from the shit tolerances.
Also used to be a thing on magnum springer air rifles to stop scope movement. They are brutal on scopes and mounts.
Look really close at pic for said tape.
>>

So what you are saying is that the 9$/hr Cabela's employee was misinformed in the first place, only further proving his own inadequate understanding of firearms?

Hue, I remember this gunstore/pawnshop had a new gen3 glock 20sf I was interested in for around 650. Tried to haggle but he was firm on it. Kept saying it was rare and discontinued or some shit.
A week later had them do a 20 dollar transfer for me on the one I bought from Tombstone Tactical with free shipping for 545$.

Is there any reason you're all miserable assholes? Aside from maybe one place I know, every gun store has obnoxious people running them. They act like they don't even want you there, along with trying to sell things at ludicrous prices. From a local Cabela's near me:

>30 cents per round for Tula x39
>$500 Yugos SKS, doesn't match and looks beat up
>$300 mosins, not hex or anything fancy
>Piles of Century and IO AK's for $750 each

Do you guys not know that the internet exists or something? I would definitely buy from stores if you idiots actually acted friendly and matched prices.

On this topic-

I found that a very easy way to level the scope is to lay your upper flat on a table & use a bubble level laid on the top turret. I did that with my last scope and as far as I could tell, it was perfectly level.
>>
>>35473398
Lol
I had a Paraordance P14 I didn't care for and wanted to trade off. Like new with 50 rounds down the barrel. I went into a LGS and they had a pretty sweet standard M1A I was interested in. When they assessed my trade in, they told me "Incase you hadn't noticed, 1911's just aren't a very popular guns. Best I can do is $200."
This is also the guy that was selling Wolf 223 and 5.56 for $1.50/round and telling everyone when Obama got elected that he had "Contacts at the ATF and they were receiving their briefings to ban military calibers and come collect all the ammo out there"
>>
>>35473485
This method works quite well on quality scopes.
Some cheaper ones may have he retinal slightly canted in the tube.
You can use a bubble to level your scopemount and clamp the action in a vise while bore sigting on a bright plumb bob string. Then twist the scope until the retical covers the string. Then crank up and down on your elevation while watching the tracking. If it doesn't follow the string, twist it slightly and recheck.
Keep doing this until the retical tracks the string as you turn the elevation knob.
That's how I do it, any how.

I had an very, very early Husqvarna I picked up for $200 at a pawnshop a while ago.The just didn't bother really looking it up when they got it in a big trade in of guns. Counter dude was kinda mad I got it as he was eyeing it all day he said.
Was one of those ones that had a bit pressed in the chamber by the importer so it could work with 380 back in the day. Besides that it was immaculate and smooth as buttered glass when cycled. Wasn't arsenal refinished with the sandblasting and reblue too.
Later bought the matching holster and accessories to go with it too off a lucky steal of a scumbroker auction. Picked up a unmodded slide and barrel off Sarco for next to nothing to shoot it's original 9mm browning long.
All in all only about 350 into it all together.
Was neat but it was just too nice to shoot much. Too damn clean.
So, it just sat around for a long while. Then I found a super nice Russian sks in a store near me. The big surprise was a reasonable price as everything else there is retardedly high.
Figured I'd see about a trade as I really had no attachment and the cash in it was close.
Guy at the store poo-poohed it as a no name Saturday night special from chainsaw makers. went on gunbroker on his phone and showed me he couldn't find one anywhere on it. (He couldn't spell Husqvarna) and offered 40 dollars to take it off my hands for me.
Went home kinda butthurt and actually bothered seeing what they go for online like I should have before. The cheapest was almost 400 hundred and it a beater. Similar to what I had were around 800 but they were refinished ones.
Sold it and the extras on gunbroker for 900 a couple days later. Had the same store do the ffl transfer and told them what I sold it for when asked what to insure it for on shipping.

DO NOT HIDE SERIOUS/ACTUAL injuries, you may get pushed out of the pipeline but you can always reapply later and you don't want to ruin your chances by permanently fucking yourself.

What's your pending medical for? Cause fuck this life is boring as hell and I haven't talked to a recruiter since like 2012.

>two-two (he actually needed .222 Rem)
>12 gauge (2 3/4, 3 " or what; shot or slug; manufacturer; what kind)
>Brenneke (here the word is used for everything from ammo from the same company to slugs of any kind)
>-random ammo company name / caliber without anything else to go by-
Then proceed to stare at the clerk expectingly, while he waits for additional information thinking the customer just had to take a breath and will hopefully spill the beans sometime in this century.
I normally just hold eye contact, motion for them to continue and say "Good, go on."

And without a fail whenever you ask them for clarification they just repeat what they said slightly louder.

I go to actual gun stores or private ffls to buy new firearms.
Fuck sporting good chain store employees that think they are gun stores.

The good deals I get from Cabelas are when people give me gift cards to there. On average I get about 2 of those a year. They sometimes have decent deals on ammo when you compare it to shipping from online sources.

I imagined something like him nodding and then giving a supportive gesture, a gentle sweep of his right hand before folding his arms, and then he calmly says, "mhmm, good. Go on." His tone may be calm, but he is serious, like he's taking the customer's dumb comment as a prompt for something greater. Something to evoke a sense of, "this is an important conversation we're having, we're 'in' on a thing most people just don't get," rather than something condescending or sanctimonious. Perhaps impatient, these are serious men talking serious shop, the customer might get the hint that the spotlights right on him from the cadence and tone. Yet when he does answer it ends with a feeling of relief, he had a slow moment but don't we all?

That might just be me, but when I heard it in my head the conversation that anon was having wasn't malicious.

Something's gone very wrong with your life if you're doing that and don't love every minute.

If no one ever made it 18X, then we wouldn't have 18X. Quitting before you start because you could fail is exactly the mindset that they want to eliminate, and that's why they sell people like you on the fact that it is in fact hard to do. And that's why you wouldn't make it and why I'm going to. I don't care what they say, do, or try to make me do. I'm going to go and not quit and you can fuck off with that "lol cook" bullshit. It's a stupid fucking meme and there's no point to doing it other than being a fucking annoying cuck.

I'm not arguing against your point about economic structure, but I will argue basic and intermediate level "service industry skill" should be commonplace knowledge. For everyone. It's about being a well rounded individual and not a dead-beat moron.

I laugh at people that cant change a flat car tire, or know how computers work. Only reason I pay any specialist for service is skills I haven't developed or don't have the tooling for.
>>
>>35493331
My point was more that the alternative to a service industry is everyone HAVING to be at the level of skill of a bona fide professional or specialist, which is a completely unreasonable expectation. Even back in the days of "I own a cabin and I hunt my own food and grow my own potatoes" people still had to go to specialists for a damn good reason.
>>
>>35493347
Oh alright yeah, I agree. Specialists are useful, perfect example: surgeons.
I can suture minor wounds but I can't remove my own appendix.
>>
work in the shitty service industry just to fund my STEM degree, because i'm a FUCKING WHITE MALE and my parents are not methheads that make less than 50,000$ a year, can't give scholarships to promising white kids, gotta save them for tyrone's sportsball and poo poo pajeets h1b

Yes.

I'd rather not waste the time.

Fucking this.

>are.... are you being serious?
>'afraid so son, now if you're looking for something similar we do have a few used 30-06s only a few hundred dollars over their probable value'
>I only came here for ammo
>'so you don't have any money and you're looking for some obscure ammo that hasnt been in production for 50 years? Son are you pulling my leg'
What the fuck man.
>>
>>35466272
It doesn't. You are retail.
Are you still a 'gun store employee' if you're in charge of the archery or fishing areas of the store? Go fuck yourself.
