I am so upset right now i can't even bother to find an appropriate picture. A friend and coworker just got arrested. He is former Airforce and a really great guy. A bit of a fudd but has never broken a law in his life. He had an ar15 and took pictures to send if off to the DOJ to get it registered as an Assault weapon as per the new laws. Well, something wasn't right apparently because about an hour befor we close he gets a call from his wife that the DOJ are at his house. They took the rifle from his safe and told him to stay put. They drove down to our work and arrested him. He wasn't trying to pull any shit. He was trying to follow the law. This is bull shit.
>>
cool blog OP
>>
>>35469628
Keep us posted OP. I'd like to know what shit Ca DOJ is trying to pull.

I hope he has a good lawyer. This is one of those process is the punishment things. And you can expect to see it more and more, in a sort of soft-totalitarian preference cascade.

eh, he either had priors or was mistaken maybe?
>>
>>35469673
it's California, by owning any gun at all he is a demonic republican, non documented citizen baby killer, anti semite. He will be hauled to jail for his evil gun since they can't arrest him because of the pesky first amendment for now.
>>
>>35469704
or he tried to register something he shouldnt have had. its not a fucking amnesty try to register an actual on list assault weapon and get dicked.

Why did armed rangers storm a bus full of elderly tourists during Obama's government shutdown in Yellowstone Park and escort them out, and not even let them take a leak on the way out because the bathroom was gubbermint property....? Why did they wire the WW2 monument shut with barbed wire in the face of WW2 vets in wheelchairs? Why did they fucking block off Mount Rushmore so the peasants couldn't even take fucking pictures from the fucking FREEWAY?

Because there is a certain class of person who is a mean vindictive little shitbird, and when you give them even a little power they will go full brownshirt on you. And after eight years of Obama's bullshit the entire power structure in this country is packed full of them. So is the one here in California? See us? We were supposed to be the prototype for you. You better stop laughing and start paying attention.

I'm not giving up till the end but I have a feeling I'm going to see Australia/UK level gun control in my life time. Maybe even a complete repeal of 2nd amendment rights. Our grand kids will have to deal with loosing their 1st amendment rights inevitably.

There are plenty of California-tier politcians across the country. It just so happens that in California the Democratic party is centralized and powerful enough where they get away with doing what they want regarding gun laws. They get challenged every time they erode our right, but California's 9th circuit court is considered a very left-leaning circuit.

So you have a higher concentration of progressives with lots of influence in the the congressional and judicial branches. I'd guess around the late 80's early 90's gun control really became entrenched in the Democrat's agenda. In response to the high crime the 70's-80's and further in to the crack epidemic we see gun control become affixed to the progressive identity. After the AWB of 1994 we see Republican anti-gun control agenda come out. It became a wedge issue that both parties use to drive out support and votes.

>high concentration of progressives in California
>progressives make shitty gun laws
go figure
>>
Calexit WHEN?
>>
>>35471934
9th circuit is also called the 9th circus because of it extreme left leaning policies.

a challenge to the hand gun roster and its numerous safety requirements a while back that went to the 9th circuit which they proclaimed that so long as a firearm is available for purchase then your allowed to express your second amendment right this was also around they try to push smart pistols.
>>
Califag here. I don't buy this story for a second. It either never happened or there's some catch OP isn't telling us like that his workmate is a convicted felon who was dumb enough to send a picture of an illegally-purchased assault rifle in to the DOJ, or is an illegal alien who isn't supposed to own guns at all but figured that if the state was willing to give him a driver's license, getting a gun would be fine.

Sorry, but this didn't happen - at least not the way OP is telling us.

>Because the republicans stymied a bill and shut down the federal government over it.

>Democrats intentionally tie a bunch of partisan bullshit to the continuing budget resolution
>Republicans cave on everything but 0.1%

>Blame Republicans for the shitshow they designed

>>
Yeah OP's story is probably fake I'm sure

BUT
I don't doubt for a second that trying to comply with these kinds of bureaucratic bullshit laws will end you up in more trouble than before. It's not super hard to believe the idea that someone will end up arrested anyway for trying to follow the law.

Im not a califag, but lawmakers are so fucking stupid. They just expect us to comply with their new law when really, it's easier to just not.

Not a sanctuary city but a sanctuary state. Basically the state government will not allow the local law enforcement to be ICE agents, but how it will be enforced is another question. Most likely the small LE departments that do not comply will be sued or what not.
With regards to the op situation and California gun laws, the law is legit here in CA and we "have to register" our salt weapons by June of 2018 if it has any of the components that is considered an salt weapon or go featureless and do not need to register. The guy in op's situation could have had his bullet button removed i.e. a normal mag release and the other feature that is considered a salt weapon and got fucked by the DA.
>>
>>35474580
>"have to register"
Isn't there a law against that that was instituted in 1986 as part of the same law that made full-auto almost impossible to get that says there shall be no state registries that list gun owners and that the only ones possible were the federal ones?
>>
>>35471493
It can be traced back to 2 seminal events- the Milk/Moscone assassinations in 1978, and the Stockton school shooting in 1989. The first event launched Dianne Feinstein’s political career, the second one sparked the first primitive AWB in California. That was about the time there was a terrible boating accident involving my MAC-10. It’s been downhill ever since.

I don't know, I'm not too familiar with the details of all our laws on firearms in CA. But i can just say with regards to California and federal gun laws, CA will do as much as it can get away with that is still considered legally"good enough"to comply with federal laws.
>>
>>35472690
The crux of california's assault weapon definition is detachable magazines, so people have just figured out to keep the magazine fixed and load it with stripper clip type things.
