>tfw astigmatism
Glasses are strange. I don't like change but it is for the better.
>>
What should my next mag purchase be, russian waffle, slab side, or 40rnd bake?
Also has anyone used these types of drums before? Heard they're supposed to mag dump flawlessly
>https://www.legionusa.com/ak47-rpk-75rd-drum-russian-7.62x39.html
>1 vote for bake so far but prices make me hesitant
>>
>>36478403
Can a barrel be pressed into a trunnion with the sight and gas block and all that attached to it already, or do I have to use a completely stripped barrel?
>>
>>36478472
You'll get used to it. Large frames might look dorky but they have a huge FOV compared to the small wire frame glasses that most people get because they think it'll make them less self conscious about wearing glasses.
>>36478497
Russian drums will always work. I think you really only have to be wary of Korean drums because Romanians are good and Chinese are so rare and expensive it's not worth it except to collect.
>>36478403
>EFT has me wanting a Kiver so bad
>>
>>36478472
Contacts mang
>>
>>36478531
Yeah, I skipped wire frame because i thought they look weak but kinda wish I got bigger lenses. At least the dot looks much much better. The glasses for sure ate the cost of my mount so welp, more waiting until I can get an RS mount. It will be worth it.
>>
>>36478531
Really? I feel like I saw a Chinese for sale when I was shopping around but maybe not
>>
>>36478544
No, not at all. I'm a little bitch about eye drops still so putting in contacts is completely off putting. Good options for others but not for me.
>>
>>36478544
Contacts are a motherfucker for astigmatism and aren't guaranteed to work. I spent 3 months trying a new brand/prescription every week and nothing ever worked.
>>36478550
It will.
>>36478564
I've only ever seen them for stupid prices, $300+
>>
>>36478497
Personally I think a bake is a bake but thats not an insult. If you already got bakelite mags a 40 rounder makes sense if you really like them. I like mine but there are no good 5.45 drums. I vote for the drums but don't miss out the chance on missing waffles or slab sides. When they run out the prices they are sold as right now will look meager.
>>
>>36478612
I got an astigmatism in my left eye and the three different brands I've used over the past 7ish years all worked fine for me
You do you m8
>>
>>36478717
That's funny as fuck. I got these glasses because the exact same situation, astigmatism in my left eye that is.

What about pic related?
I bought it last year thinking it was 7.62x39 and never had a chance to even load it
>>
>>36478717
>contacts work for some people with astigmatism
>don't work for other people with astigmatism
Wow, it's almost like that means they're not guaranteed to work if you have astigmatism as opposed to other kinds of eyesight issues where contacts are the easy fix.

Are there any decent AK74’s being sold now that 104’s are gone?
>>
>>36478902
No. Lee Armory has some frankengun AIMS74 kits he's selling as "battlefield pick up Romanian AK-74's" with shitty US barrels and you can get some 5.45 guns from Rifle Dynamics if you hate money.

>>
>>36478769
Lol, I was just looking at that before I saw you ask. I've heard bad things about it and there are little amount of reviews about it on youtube & on websites that you buy it from. From what I've read online/seen it seems perfectly fine for Arsenal rifles and feeds well but it isn't steel lined and is the only drum option in that caliber. Personally, if you have no 5.45 rifles I'd hold on and let it raise (maybe?) raise in value or just sell it.

>>36478795
Just saw my car got hit while I went to grab the paper with the prescription details. Think this is what your looking for;

OD -0.25 -0.25 x 179
OS +0.25 -0.75 x 017

where is the best place to get clips for my AK?
>>
I have a question. I'm looking to get into a 7.62x39 and I'm looking between the cheaper of acceptable for AK styles.

-Wasr 10
-Zastava PAP
-AMD-63/65
-Romanian Draco

If I get the Draco or M92 PAP I would add a brace.

Is the Wasr really the best in quality/reliability compared to those 3 other options?

Anybody with experience with two or more of these? Or am I overlooking one?

WASR 10 is also gucci.

I've put my M10X on indefinite hold for other priorities (VR rig, 1911/Hudson) so instead I'm gonna get some goodies for my old WASR along the way. Which theme would /akg/ prefer;

You can drop it in there, sure. It doesn't have the ramp because VEPR 12 (and probably most VEPRs, including the 1V's) have a ramp that tapers down and then is flat--no raised shelf at the end. I dropped one into pic related because I liked it better than the 300m that was on it and it cost me $20ish. Numbers aren't engraved or whatever, but I can live with it.
>>
Someone talk me down from the ledge--I'm seriously considering chopping the receiver on this .223 saiga so that I can build the 101 clone on a late russian style recreator or something. It's either that or I tack weld some thin shims in the magazine well to get rid of mag wobble with ak74 width mags.
>>
>>36495315
So will the 100 m marking sit on the ledge for the battle sight then? Would you have to set your sight at 200 meters to make shots at 100?
>>
>>36495315
>>36495361
Like I said, the RPK rear sight base that came with the 1V's (this RPK is a sporter rebarreled with a 1V takeoff front end) has the same sort of ramp as I assume is on the VEPR 12, so it's a non-issue. If using on a surplus or military style rsb with the raised shelf at the rear of the ramp it might be an issue and you'd probably need to do as you said and the numbers on the leaf would be off by 100m. I'll compare it to some other leaves I have later if I get a chance so that I can confirm.
