Sup /k/? I started a petition on change.org to try and get some interest from customers and Browning/FN to do one final production run of Hi-Powers (link below). Please no arguments about its merits, just sign if you'd pony up for a new one, and share with anyone you think would be interested. I know I would have bought one if I'd had any inkling this was the end.

In honour of the venerable Hi-Power, Hi-Power thread.

weve known for a year this was going to happen if you didnt buy one then your not going to buy one now when its going to cost even more.
>>
Can we do one for new Savage 99's?
>>
>>36786228
I signed op, good luck m8
>>
>>36786296
Honestly, while some may have known, the truth is it was rumour bandied about on gun forums that was confirmed by "a guy I know who knows a guy" etc. FN/Browning made no announcement other than updating the product page. This should have been handled very differently.

The reason I didn't buy one then was not the money, but the belief that I'd always (within reason) have the chance to do so in the future. It was on the list. There's a lot of guns on that list.
>>
They're still going to be fucking expensive, so no point at all. Call me when they're around 5-600
>>
>>36786356
Thanks! I'm going to send it to some famous gun youtubers - I hope it gets shared. It would really take only one to get a bunch of signatures

you can still buy one in the future it will just be a higher price than you want. but it was still a higher price than you want even when it was being made

We're not all Elon Musk, m8. Trying to find NOS/NIB unfired models is going to be a shitfight now full of gouging.

Again, if I'd had any idea, I would have bought pic related immediately. I contacted the Australian distributor as soon as I found out, by this time their remaining stock had already gone out to dealers. I contacted every single one of those dealers. How about some positivity, eh?
>>
>>36786228
>Hey guys, let's petition to bring back a $1000 pistol that most of /k/ can't afford.

How about no.
>>
>>36786392
>but the belief that I'd always (within reason) have the chance to do so in the future

You missed out, not just on the hi power, but on a lot of stuff. Just settle into a bottle of a Vodka and prepare yourself for a future of nothing but Glocks and AR-15s. Giving a shit about anything will just get you disappointment.

AND I'M SO FUCKING TIRED OF THE BROKEN-ASS PICTURE CAPTCHA THING. FUCK.

Aspiration - /k/ style. I'd say never change, but I hope you guys turn your lives around.
>>
>>36786228
What is everyone's sudden fucking obsession with this mediocre pistol over the last 5 years?
>>
>>36786541
the CZ75 became too mainstream
>>
>>36786541
The fact that they are no longer made by anyone anymore, and used/surplus hps are drying up.
>>
>>36786583
Plausible.
>>36786586
None of this explains the recent interest.

Everyone whining about how they can't get one now; you don't want one. It's a pistol stuck in 1935 for today's prices.
>>
>>36786520
Eagle stamped - nice.
>>
>>36786604
We don't all need rails and interchangeable backstraps, brah. I bought a Colt Government 1991 because I wanted a straight-up, OG 1911 - just because it's nice.
>>
>>36786639
>We don't all need rails and interchangeable backstraps, brah
Yea, ok, I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the design, it's lacking. There's nothing nice about it. Mushy controls, shit trigger, just bleh. I would have accepted this in 1935, but today when for 1000 dollars you can get a nice 1911 or something if you want a 'classic'? No. I'd get rid of mine, but it's an heirloom.
>>
>>36786528
I do appreciate your concern. I haven't totally given up, I'm still going to school and shooting for a career, but I doubt things will change. Everything I've ever liked has gone away and has been replaced with flavor of the week bullshit and everything I ever believed in was a lie. At least I'll have money for better escapes once I start my career.

>>36786541
Possibly fallout new veags, that's part of the reason I want one.
>>
>>36786392
Did you pay attention to WHY the decided to discontinue it. Its literally not worth the money it would take for them to invest in new machines.

I know a lot of places are "sold out" right now, but it wasn't due to the rush of people buying them as demand surged. Its place stockpiling them to resale later
>>
>>36786789
There's enough life in the old ones to knock out one last run. That's what this is about.
>>
>>
>>36786296
This, we've known they were going to be discontinued for a while now. Just because you're slowpoke.jpg doesn't mean everyone else is. You had ample opportunity to buy one, it's your fault you waited for them to be discontinued before you showed any interest in buying one. FN is not going to do "one last batch", they're done because they're not worth the time and money to produce them. You're trying to get on the Hi Power band wagon far too late, this ship has sailed. Buy used or pay gouged prices for new.

The CZ 75 is literally a DA/SA Hi-Power clone.

>it's a clone but it's different
okay anon
>>
>>36787252
It's not though. The 75 is a blatant Hi-Power.
>>
>>36787258
It's not literally a DA-SA Hi-power, because it wouldn't be a Hi-power if it was DA-SA.

It has a metal frame and uses the browning linkless design, that is all it has in common with the Hi-Power.
>>
>>36787332
Eh, it's still shittier than the Hi-Power.
>>
>>36787345
That's why the 75 is still in production and is the 2nd most copied pistol in the world, while the only company making Hi-powers just stopped production.
>>
>>36786947
t. FN's process engineer

Oh, wait...
>>
>>36787149
Yes, I own one. It's mediocre.
>>
>>36787149
Yes and I love them, but the anon saying they're better than CZ 75's is retarded. The Hi Power an old design than has since been improved by more modern pistols.
>>
>>36787369

But the Hi-Power isn't popular so therefore it's automatically cooler and better.

Only war production hps had those, Englis was the last to make hps with them iirc.
