A fudd at my LGS told me that after c-71 passes "the rcmp will be able to check your medical history and see what prescriptions you have". Is that true? It was my understanding that unless you checked 'yes' on the 'in the past x years have you ever had mental health problems/sent to hospital for mental health stuff/ prescribed something for behavioral problems" and then gave them written consent, they could not access your medical records. I thought the Health Information Protection Act was supposed to make it so all medical files were between you and your doctor?

The RCMP will be able to see your medical records. Just be happy you don’t have to see a government approved psych before you can renew your license.
This is what the libtards believe is compromising.

>>38222626
It does mention near the end that the privacy act doesn't apply, but I'm pretty sure that was with regards to transferring the LGR information (which was supposed to be destroyed) from the federal to provincial government of Quebec without the consent of the people whose data it is.

Just like how you can have a medical card for weed and think your fine for a piss test but really your just standing there with a stunned look on your face when your fail and they say no problem just get a doctor to sign a form saying weed doesn’t actually effect you.

Good luck with that

alright /k/ it's finally happened, got my first Fun this weekend. Finally moved out to my own place, got a nice promotion and i can finally start living.

decided to follow advice and start with a .22, the guy at the shop said someone had just traded this in and he cut me a deal of 375 for it. it looks really nice and apparently the trigger has been replaced for a competition quality one. going to the range this weekend to try it out assuming i can figure out how to clean it this week.

I just want to say thank you /k/ for helping me get my life together, if not for you guys I'd probably be still living in my parents basement content with minimum wage.

Reminder that sitting back and gloating that the other side is so fucked it's obviously gonna be ours that wins is exactly how Hillary got the T-Dick in 2016. We may be in the opposite situation but thinking "it's so obvious this guy is bad noone will vote for him I don't even have to argue" is the most naive, lazy and self destructive way to pretend you're invested in any way in current politics. If you, me, everybody ITT doesn't get off or asses and at least print a poster, mail a physical letter or make a phone call at least once to actually try and make things move in the right direction then we deserve the inevitable freedom Armageddon that is coming for us hard. At least talk to one other person outside our e/k/hobox and try to change the mind of someone who doesn't already agree with us, preferrably without resorting to autistic memeing

The institution itself is the problem, no amount of goodwill from the inside can change the fact that it needs dismantling. In the US you have 3-4 separate federal entities dividing the tasks that the RCMP controls alone specifically to avoid the crazy despotic gangsterism that happens when you make them "the crown" and the population "everyone else - subjects"

the fact that non elected officials who rise through rank on seniority alone are being given power to enact laws that dispossess or can jail citizens overnight with no civilian oversight is just blatantly undemocratic and it's going to catch up real soon, I just hope to change is total and decisive and not a messy degenerative situation that brings out violent reactionism, it's responsible thing to do desu

I would unironically recommend getting into politics because this is a time of need in that domain

>Toronto, May 17th, 2018 – In a random sampling of public opinion taken by The Forum Poll™ among 1484 Canadian voters, amongst those decided and leaning, if an election were held today, almost half (46%) say they would support the Conservatives, while a third (30%) say they would support the Liberals.
>Based on these results, we project the Conservatives would secure a majority government with 234 seats. The Liberals would serve as official opposition with 72 seats, and the NDP would secure 30 seats.
I don't know how that will change after the G7 fiasco, because on the one hand that will probably be bad for our economy, but on the other hand a lot of liberals were impressed by Trudeau standing up to Trump. But that is the most recent national poll, and Forum Research actually has a pretty solid track record in their predictions.

Casual lurker here. Im looking for a new fun for SHTF before the new bill comes into effect. Ive already got a ruger american 30-06 with bipod and cheap nikon scope on it. Any reccomendations for a nice non-restricted battle rifle thats not too expensive ($800 area), has cheap ammo, and is reliable? Doesnt have to be fancy. Thanks
>>
>>38234831
>non-restricted battle rifle
>$800 area
Unless you misused the term "battle rifle" your only options are SVT-40 and Norinco M305
>>
>>38234907
Nor are any full-sized rifle rounds "cheap" these days...
>>
>>38235018
Well to be fair, for someone who only shoots 30-06 308 and 54r are pretty damn cheap in comparison.
>>
>>38235048
>laughs in 8x50mm Siamese
>>
>>38234907
Maybe i did, my bad. Checked them both out and the SVT-40 seems abit too long for what im looking for and if .308 win kicks as much as my 30-06 (which i read it does) then idk about the m305 because id like a rifle chambered in something with abit more manageable recoil than my american.
>>
>>38235167
Pussy. Svt 40 is only exactly 4 feet long.
>>
>>38235167
Something in 7.62x39 or 5.56x45, then? SKS is a great cheap option.

Just found a tapco SKS on cabelas for $399 and 1500 rounds of chinese surplus FMJ for the same price. Will these round have decent stopping power and do you think this combo is a decent buy?
>>
>>38235252
7.62x39 is perfectly adequate for man-sized targets out to ~300 yards.
I'm not a fan of tapco SKS stocks, personally. Especially when you can get a Russian SKS with wood stock for significantly less than that from GoTenda.
>>
>>38235289
My only concern with a wood stock is lack of mounting options. Do you think iron sights are adequate? Im also seeing lots of different options for the wood furniture. What would you recommend? Also should i sell the Ruger American or keep it for hunting big game and general precision shooting?

It's not a precision rifle and it'd be for use within 300 yards. If you just want something faster to acquire than irons, get one of those scout mounts and slap on a red dot.
If you're not going for collector value, then just get the cheapest Russian one.

basically what this guy said >>38235559

you're going to want a variety of guns for different applications, personally i don't like the sights on SKS and I don't think I'd try going for a hunting kill beyond 100 meters with one

firing accurately with those kind of irons isn't easy and there's a good chance you could end up wounding the animal or hitting organs you don't want to

when i first got into guns I thought i'd maybe buy 3-4, I now have 21 guns
>>
>>38235701
>when i first got into guns I thought i'd maybe buy 3-4, I now have 21 guns

Even if you never get into buying specific guns for their historical significance and go 100% for practical reasons, it adds up quickly.
>>
>>38235701
Thank you fren. My firearms knowledge is really limited so i appreciate everyones help. It seems the whole package is going to be the Russian SKS 7.62*39 hardwood stock $259.99, SKS Tri-Rail Receiver Cover $29.99 from gotenda, a pack of stripper clips, about 25 boxes of Chinese Surplus - 7.62x39, 123gr, FMJ, 25rds Box ($5.99), Corrosive, and then either a Bushnell Trophy 1x25mm Red Dot Scope, Barska 1x40mm Dual Colour Red Dot Scope, or a Firefield Multi-reticle Reflex Sight (Cabelas has good prices $70-120). dust cover rails don't work well, i don't suggest railing an sks at all, buy a different gun more suitable for that if you want a red dot

if you MUST rail an SKS get the kwik rail, it's much more solid

a multi reticle holographic for $70-120 is guaranteed to be airshit quality and probably not worth buying, personally my favorite cheapish red dot is the vortex strike fire 2, I have one on an AR and a VZ and it works well on both

>would you recommend any other rifles
vz58, tavor, t97, rdb, and the few other NR "AR" variants

if you want something tactical that works good and is non restricted expect to pay upwards of $1000

the only other cheap option for you that will still allow clips is replacing the rear sight with a rail like pic related

personally I think tricking out an SKS is a waste of time and money(and honestly just distasteful) but it's your call, i know some of us are poorer than other and may do different things due to financial constraints

the bushnell TRS red dot you mentioned would work well in this configuration too
>>
Is it worth owning an AR in Canada?
>>
>>38236471
depends

Do you have access to a range?
Are you willing to illegally shoot it in the woods?
Do you want to be prepared for RaHoWa?

>decent 9mm like an M&P or P99 or something and a decent .22 for practice

I'm not worried about my competence or learning to shoot, been borrowing handguns for ages so that's fine, just won't have the money to pick more than one of the above options for the next couple years and am indecisive enough to let a Moroccan F1 enthusiasts club make thousand dollar choices for me.

I thought they grabbed a bunch of prohib handguns back in the 90s? They got everyone to register with "hey, it's cool, we're not going to confiscate anything" then once they knew where all* the guns were they went back and took them? I might be wrong about this, it's something I thought I read here a while ago.

>Maritime law.
Maritime law, also known as admiralty law, is a body of laws, conventions, and treaties that govern private maritime business and other nautical matters, such as shipping or offenses occurring on open water. International rules, governing the use of the oceans and seas, are known as the Law of the Sea.

Are bank machines really that important on a ship in the middle of the ocean ?

>maritime law
I assume you're meming, but it has never been a successful defense both during an arrest and in court. I get a kick out freemen/sovereign citizens/whatever trying to argue this shit with cops. If you want to be an anarchist, there are plenty of old and well-established arguments against state authority. Using laws passed by the state, enforced by the state, and interpreted by the state, against that same state, and expecting them to say "oh shit, you were too clever for us, I guess all these laws don't apply to you anymore" is fucking retarded.

>Moleman shoots someone in self-defense, runs away
>some witnesses or camera make a plausible but not definitive ID
or
>someone follows Moleman to the general area where he lives, where he promptly disappears though a network of NOT TUNNELS, BECAUSE MOLEMAN HASN'T DUG SHIT IN AGES AND DOESN'T DESERVE THAT NAME ANYMORE
but going back to my main point

>Moleman shoots and kills someone in self-defense with a Restricted firearm and either geographically or otherwise is in a wide or narrow pool of suspects
>criminal and firearms possession records are checked
>"oh look, there are only two guys living on the city block where shooter disappeared who have handguns in our database, here's a neat shortlist we can check"
>all handguns of both men are tested in crime lab
>either Moleman threw away his Restricted which he should have and doesn't, which makes it obvious he's the shooter and he's at least charged with a bunch of gun crimes, stripped of his guns and deep digging into him begins for years if not decades, since it's obvious he's their man and they just have to prove it OR his handgun is matched to murder weapon
>Moleman goes to jail and becomes Holeman

TL;DR: carrying a Restricted is a big felony that will result in buttrape, using it means you are much more likely be found, than say some criminal with an illegal unregistered firearm; there are almost no areas in Canada that would actually legitimately warrant carrying a handgun for the risk it poses -- DON'T DO IT
>>
>>38241122
That may be so, but all you have to do is convince the jury. Which, given the PM's previous statements and those of his cronies, will be made up of the victim's peers, not the accused's.

Guys I've decided to get the fuck out of Toronto. I'm planning to move to the country and I want to know where the most Gun friendly area of Canada is.

Alberta?
>>
>>38243843
northern ontario
>>
>>38243863
Really? Isn't Ontario the most anti-gun province? Or have I just formed that impression from living in the Immigrant Containment Zone?
>>
>>38243938
Quebec is worse.
Alberta and Saskatchewan are both great options as long as you steer clear from the cities that vote red.
>>
>>38243956
>steer clear from the cities that vote red.
So, all of them? Anyway, that had little bearing on gun friendliness, since that's a provincial thing.
>>
>>38244123
Ehhhh. Not all of them. Calgary is pretty pro-gun despite having about a million people living there. I'd avoid Edmonton, though.

Yep. Pretty much comes down to how anal the cops are going to be checking peoples shit when the time comes. When people I know say shit like "Yeah the RCMP should definitely just kick in doors and take people's assault rifles!" it becomes sort of complicated. I pissed some people off when I challenged them on this, pointing out that myself and people like me (those of us owning guns) are by and large incredibly harmless. I've taken to just keeping my fucking mouth shut though because some people just straight up look at you like scum of the earth for opposing this train of thought or that you own guns. All the crap in politics leaves me constantly uneasy as well, all the hoops to jump through and the rules and regulations to stay kosher on the right side of the law while the RCMP are still constantly plotting how they're going reclass things and take your shit, or their bulletins where they just make up whatever they want about things that were already legal and readily available. When they first shit the bed with the CZ858s back before Harper and the cons cleaned the mess up, I was literally sick with worry thinking that I was fucked. Now history is repeating itself except there's nobody in parliament who is going to stop this bullshi.t

>All that said, it's laughably easy to get illegal guns into the country. The only thing is you will get assfucked if you get caught. Royally assfucked. For most people that isn't worth it.

I'll agree that illegal guns are incredibly available in Canada, and that for most people the punishment isn't worth it. Overall though, the penalties for having guns without a licence is very minimal. The minimum is 3 years for restricteds and prohibiteds and 1 year for non-restricteds. You'll get parole in half that if you didn't commit a violent crime in relation to it. Even if you did, unless you murdered someone, you'll serve concurrent sentences not consecutive.
In Moleman's specific case, he'd get 3 years for unlawfully carrying a loaded restricted/prohibited and everything else would have a smaller minimum which is irrelevant for concurrent sentences. Then you think you'll get time and a half for time served in remand and paroled after half served. So he'd likely only serve about 1 year. If he didn't post bail, he'd definitely be released as soon as his trial finished.
Canada's criminal penalties are an absolute joke, and our attempts to reform criminals are essentially non-existent. It's one of the reasons gang violence has exploded over the last 20 years.

Actually nothing. My dad and I visited a collector we knew who's getting old and selling as many guns as possible. My dad has a .22 fetish so he bought a bunch of them, this one for 300 IIRC and he just gave it to me the following christmas.

How exactly did they drive it out when they're also the only ones posting new things. I thought this was the weapons board, but nobody even really talks about guns or posts them, or when they do, they get derided.

Hi.

I'm the guy who started the Canada General threads on /k/ (though other Anons have taken up the responsibility of creating new threads whenever we hit bump limit) and, for what it's worth, I created it primarily to get Canadians who were lurking this board to learn our firearm laws, jump through the hoops and join the community. As far as I'm concerned, every time people post about the status of their (R)PAL or ask about what good options there are for people who just got theirs/within their specific budget... I'm glad. We're growing the community and that's the most important thing when it comes to not being an easy political target.

I'm honestly not trying to deride the newcomers, but a lot of that is what the sticky is for. There's no need for someone to ask the same question in multiple threads, especially when it's often the exact same person who is being impatient. I mean, I get it, I've been there. I might just be painting with too broad of a brush because I'm a jaded sack of shit.

Also, if memory serves, the threads were actually "/k/anada general" at first. People kept bitching about it being hard to search (Because ctrl+f "anada" was really hard, somehow), so it changed.

The pastebin was started by someone else, though.

Actually, scratch that. This was before we called them "general"... So it would've been "/k/anada thread"... This was several years ago.

New Hampshire permit lets you conceal carry in 20 some states

What gun is best gun for trips to freedomland that can be brought across border?

Obviously no Norinco gats
>>
>>38253398
To be fair, Greentips, the guy who created the forum, is pretty "high speed/low drag". The fact that we end up with a lot of fudds isn't really his fault.
>>
>>38253416
Not really many good options for guns you can legally own here and bring down with you, desu. There's a reason why the CC market is usually 2-3" barreled guns (if that). Open Carry is probably easier to deal with.
>>
>>38253418
I really don't spend much time over there, only occasionally go to see news or if there's sales. I'm pretty much over the idea of posting on regular forums after over a decade of 4chins. As for the ninjas and fudds, don't really fault anyone honestly unless they're actively trying to make our gun laws worse. Mall ninjas do what makes them happy, which is more than I could say for myself, and I think Canada just has a lot of fudds by default. Hopefully if we keep getting new blood things might shift in our favor one day.
>>
>>38253416
>Obviously no Norinco gats
What? I'm pretty sure if it's your personal firearm you can take it regardless of manufacturer. Don't you have to sign a form with the ATF to bring guns into the US anyway with the duration of your visit, where you're going etc?
>>
>>38253443
Could be, my understanding was couldn't bring anything in that was commie banned by Merica...

>>38253428
Can open carry in a dozen or so as well.
There's plenty of folks that carry larger pistols than the 2-3" barrel stuff though
>>
>>38253462
I'm pretty certain that's only for importing for businesses and as long as you go through the proper channels with the ATF your personal firerarms are exempt.

>>

Untrustworthy source

"...it is unlawful for non-U.S. residents to possess or obtain firearms or ammunition while in the U.S."

This is inaccurate. It is unlawful to sell to Canadians, but Canadians are not prohibited from purchasing firearms.

This is an important distinction if you get a Pennsylvania carry permit

Honestly, it's one of the smoothest shooting and lightest recoiling handguns I've ever shot. I would attribute that to the USP's special recoil spring; instead of just having one spring, they actually have a second spring that kicks in right when the first spring reaches the point where it's ineffective anymore. A shock to precisely nobody with any knowledge of the industry, desu. Remember how long it took for them to react to the single-stack 9x19 craze?
Hell, they finally made one with a manual thumb safety for a potential military contract and, when they turn around to sell that model to the civvy market... THEY REMOVE THE FUCKING THUMB SAFETY!

Hell, if they released a pistol caliber Glock carbine anytime in the last 30 years, they'd have dominated the market. Now, there are so many players in the game that it's too fucking late.

Glock is run by morons.
