/lit/ is for the discussion of literature, specifically books (fiction & non-fiction), short stories, poetry, creative writing, etc. If you want to discuss history, religion, or the humanities, go to /his/. If you want to discuss politics, go to /pol/. Philosophical discussion can go on either /lit/ or /his/, but those discussions of philosophy that take place on /lit/ should be based around specific philosophical works to which posters can refer.

Check the wiki, the catalog, and the archive before asking for advice or recommendations, and please refrain from starting new threads for questions that can be answered by a search engine.

/lit/ is a slow board! Please take the time to read what others have written, and try to make thoughtful, well-written posts of your own. Bump replies are not necessary.

How do we reconcile David praying for the destruction of his enemies with Jesus commanding to love and pray for your enemies in a positive manner?

>they kind of royally messed up when they rejected the Messiah
Indeed. And that is why the Lord scattered them, destroyed the Temple, and chastised them just as He has done in the past, but watch the signs, Anon. As was told in Malachi, He is regarthering them. Even the trees which God removed from Israel which were common place in the time of His Beloved Son are returning (Judean Date Palm)! Read the prophetic works of the Tanakh and read the prophetic parts of the New Testament and keep watch! Christ is at the door. And if Christ is at the door, then the revelation of the sons of God among the children of Israel is near! The number which will be saved by them is beyond counting and it is from every nation tribe and people! The Lord has done this, and it will be marvelous in our eyes!

Again, no need to take my word for it. It's all there in black and white (and where Our Blessed Lord speaks, red).

Both of them have the capability of sin within the framework of their books if you are going by that. Because David/ Jesus did something doesn’t mean that’s automatically gods axiomatic position. Jesus says only god is free of sin so you can infer this. I don’t want christoid seething.

Godspeed, anon.

it's called antithesis you fucking mongrel. "antitypes" was never a thing and it isn't going to become an accepting thing.

>Jesus's words / actions / thoughts aren't automatically, intrinsically G*d's axiomatic position
most ignorant post on this board, ever. kill yourself
>Jesus says only god is free of sin
what do you think he meant by that you fucking halfwit? Christianity-commentating retards are infinitely worse than christcucks themselves. everyone would benefit if you never posted again.

Do you agree?

He was a pervert; looked and acted like a faggot because he was too afraid to be direct. Would use social stigmas whenever he could to gain advantage of others but shrunk when you used any sort of advantage against him.

this is more or less true. The highest eroticism is always non-sexual. Freud used sexual to mean everything in the man-woman domain, and this is our meaning today, but at some point the word becomes meaningless

A thorough familiarisation with music theory and history, particularly that era of late-romanticism and early modernism, and having read Marlowe's and Goethe's Fausts so you can see how superior they are to Mann's hack writing.

he does that all day every day anyway.

Since God is the infinite, that's a stupid question because "lift" wouldn't apply to God in the first place
But the real question is: how long have I been gay?

You can’t say that and read the Greeks.

I dont hate Foucault, he wrote some interesting stuff. But ultimately I think post-modernism is just nihilism and leads nowhere. It's a purely negative philosophical tradition. Foucault had no ideas on how things should be, just on how to destroy what is.

Where the bee sucks, there suck I:
In a cowslip’s bell I lie;
There I couch when owls do cry.
On the bat’s back I do fly
After summer merrily.
Merrily, merrily shall I live now
Under the blossom that hangs on the bough.

Is there a book that compares Roman administration and US administration faction for faction?

I was reading about the year of the six emperors and saw a lot of parallels between the deep state and how Trump wants to have a purge. The Praetorian guard indeed assassinated emperors.

JKF is the latest example.

>>

This is not about rich vs poor and never was. Trump having a purge doesn't mean the empire is over. It's just a shift of power.

>Hillary or Trump?
Both are incompetent and dont meet the non-existent logical criteria to run for presidency.
>>
>>23317311
Hello gullible moron. Trump has 4 years to "drain the swamp" and didn't do anything because he is part of the swamp. The man is controlled opposition if I ever saw it and all this political theatre with his trial is just nonsense to keep the masses glued to their TVs. Your political landscape is a joke and anyone who would actually pose a threat to power would be assassinated (see JFK/RFK).

The Japanese like non-endings that are heavy with a sense of loss. Endings where the character's inner journey terminates before you think the plot would. I think of them as like standing a river, it keeps on moving with or without you.
I think its the Buddhist thing, the world just keeps moving and whats gone is gone, where as the Western/Christian mindset is predicated on the belief that one day everything that ever was will be judged and accounted for.

That’s brutal. Guys that age don’t even know where to start with life and it’s depressing. My dad’s like that and he has to be pushed to do things just for enjoyment. But, it’s a survival mechanism, not one from pleasure. He had a rough life, so it’s understandable. I’m just glad he gave me a better life, so I can relax and enjoy the things he couldn’t. Sometimes, I get made fun of for being lazy, but I know he prefers me living as I am to how he was.
>>
>>23320592
It’s horrifying. So many of my cousins derive their value from working that they feel useless if they aren’t working and buying shit. Like they’ll buy luxury cars even though they rent apartments with other peoples. It’s a depressing cycle.
>>
>>23321015
As if that is the only reason. Don’t be obtuse. The one thing I’ve learned about retired wagies is that they go right back to work part-time because they don’t know what to do with themselves. It’s brutal.

Can someone explain to me the differences between Catholic and Orthodox theology? (Besides the Holy Spirit thing, I already know about that.) From what I understand, Catholic theology is more Aristotelian while Orthodox theology is more Platonic.
